ps...ladies... do we have a new thread title? Think it might be about time....(esp as we are HOPEFULLY going to have some labours soon!)

MsSparkle · 06/01/2009 21:23

We need a new thread already! This one has gone sooo fast.

6 days over now It's really painful when baby tries to move now. It gives me a taster and a reminder of what labour with dd was like and now i am scared to death! I am dreading it.

LooseyC · 06/01/2009 21:26

Good evening! Gosh a lot has happened (and then sort of not happened again) since I was on here last - I can't keep up with all this! Commiserations to all those having false alarms, sounds very painful and frustrating.

I had an email from in-laws today saying we should give them a call if we think something might be happening but they won't leave the house until it is definitely for real. How on earth can you say for sure? A friend has just had a 2 hour labour which makes me think I don't want to chance it, false alarm or not, and the in-lawas will just have to come over at the slightest twinge!

By the way I heard that it didn't matter if the baby's head wasn't engaged even until you go into labour - is that right? Mine isn't so far and I wasn't thinking twice about it but maybe I should be?

moosemama · 06/01/2009 21:36

Sorry folks, can't think of a title for the new thread, brain just doesn't work anymore.

MsSparkle sympathies. I know what you mean about how much it hurts when the baby moves about. This baby feels like she's all knees and elbows, all sharp points and angles. Have they given you a possible induction date? I have a date (Thursday 15th), don't really want to be induced, but at least I have an end in sight either way.

I was thinking a similar thing to you this afternoon about the spd pain. If I can't cope with this pain, how the hell am I going to cope with labour. Guess at the end of the day I've done it and survived twice before and one way or another I'll get through it again.

Had been really positive about this birth all the way through as DS2s was so good, but the last week has really cast doubt for me on whether or not this one will be anywhere near as easy.

Hi LooseyC you are right, with second (or subsequent) babies they very rarely engage until labour starts. My consultant assures me its not a problem. (This one seems to think she has to engage her head with my hip bone in the most grindy uncomfortable way possible - am thinking she's going to have Daddy's sense of direction!)

i think flf had a good thread title earlier, didn't she? (though maybe we should add something about no more practice runs...)

mssparkle, sorry your little one is refusing to leave... my stomach feels like titch has been using it as a punching bag and i still have a week to go to my due date, so i can't imagine how uncomfortable you are. sure your lo will disembark soon though

loosey - i think the baby often doesn't engage until labour for second and subsequent pregnancies

MissHairspray · 06/01/2009 21:45

Evening ladies, mssparkle sorry you are still here (in the nicest possible way of course) When are they making you go in for further action? If nothing happens for me I've got a sweep scheduled for a weeks time, if that doesn't work another one 48 hours later and then induction a week after. They could have done a sweep this week but want to try and do this naturally if possible.

Tink hope this is it, I can't believe how many of us are getting the pains without the babies!

I'm having a minor freakout, it isn't that i'm desperate to go in to labour but I know I have to do it sometime and the waiting is hard. And i'm not even properly late yet.

MIL rang today to see if I was in labour as last time she had seen me 'I had looked really puffy in the face and that is usually a sign'. Talk about kicking you when you're down.

Sleep well all of you, or if not then lets make it for a good reason

moosemama · 06/01/2009 21:45

Urgh!! Will have to get out and about more tomorrow to take mind of myself.

Come on Tink!

MsSparkle your being so nice about going over - feel I'll be spitting feathers by time I'm term plus!!

Will our 1st baby be the 1st 2009 mumsnet baby?? Thats quite a big deal!!

fourlittlefeet · 06/01/2009 21:59

new thread here

moosemama · 06/01/2009 22:00

gtdacp thing is they don't really have another swing that's comparable in a similar price range. Think I would have cancelled too.

Argos do the same swing in butterscotch but its £107.69 and its £101.00 at John Lewis online. £108.99 at Tesco Direct, but you'd get 108 clubcard points with it.

I'd make sure they refund the money sharpish, they have no reason for keeping hold of it after all. Did you pay via paypal? If so, they should be able to refund you straight away.
