LenniEd how exciting! I hope everything is ok?

Periwink my dd was 7pounds 9 when she was finally born at 42 weeks. I think it's about average although when i met up with my friend shortly afterwards who baby was 6pound 3, my dd looked huge! It's amazing how much difference an extra pound or two is when they are so tiny. My dd still looked so precious and lovely

Dp was nicer last night. I think because on Tuesday evening i was getting upset and the baby went crazy inside me, moving alot, like it was aggitated because i was upset and stressing. I think dp saw that because he was upsetting me, he was upsetting the baby too and i think it sunk in his head yesterday so he came home abit nicer. He kept saying last night not get stressed.

MsSparkle · 18/12/2008 10:54

Oh and i am 38 weeks, my due date is two weeks away

qumps · 18/12/2008 11:24

had a girls night last night. one gf has a 6 week old and the other is 29 weeks pg. we spent a good hour moaning about our dh's and how particularly rubbish they are second time round. we came to the conclusion that they think that as we already have a child how hard can it be having one more? we are having a get together on sunday and thining of writing a list of guidance rules for them all
nataliejane good to hear from you and so sorry that you have had a rough time. exciting for next week and you sound like you have a great attitude. good luck.
lennied any more twinges? all this will it won't it is driving me crazy. preferred last time when didn't have any twinges/leakage as at least didn't spend every day thinking is today the day. thanks for new thread.
my ds was 9lb 2oz and on the 99th percentile. he is now probably below the 50th. midwifes shocked at how big he was and no indication beforehand. he still came out though!
booksgalore nipped to tesco to get fancy dress outfit for dh yesterday. he is going as rebecca addlington to his work do so swim hat, goggles, costume, blonde wig and leopard print high heels! anyway let ds walk as thought he would be quick. decided he wanted a carry, i said no and had the full on throw himself on the floor. i just couldn't stop laughing thinking of the telly advert. walked away and he crawled after me but everytime looked at him he cried. little monkey! we made friends though. he is just too cute for his own good at the moment.

treedelivery · 18/12/2008 12:02

Bugger - just did huge post on previous thread. If you read you'll see how likely this was to happen!

Mushy peas for brains.
Bought sanitary/postnatal towels today - must be having a baby. 14p for 10 from Sains!!

DEF off to bed now!!

tinkisabigpinksparklybauble · 18/12/2008 12:20

poor u tree delivery it must be hard with money worries?
sure you will feel better after a good sleep

anyone know how to fit a obaby buggy board to a quinny buzz having trouble

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 18/12/2008 12:23

Thanks for new Thread Lennied! We must have brushed past each other two years ago at Blackburn, or nearly at least, DS2 was born on the 7th Dec. If I end up in the bed next to you this time, firstly I apologise for my snoring, and secondly I apologise for being a very loud labourer! How strange would that be?! Though fingers crossed, with your niggles you'll be home well before I'm back in there.

Thanks for everyone's good wishes, feel like I need them today, I have times where I'm convinced everything will be fine, and then times when I think about it all too much, and I go into a bit of a panic... I have managed to get a few bit's and pieces of clothes, and some heartbreakingly small nappies, we are going to go over to Preston tonight to get some more clothes, I just can't believe how small they are, and to think that anything could actually fit in them, it's scary.

LenniEd · 18/12/2008 12:31

Treedelivery - hope you are ok and nightshift was quiet. Don't know how you are managing with still working.

Qumps/MsSparkle - as you both prob know already I agree wholeheartedly on partners being useless second time round. In that second child book (the depressing one called lost my hairbrush or something) there is a line saying you get precious vessel status with a partner once and once only, so either you have to stop at one child or change your partner if you want the same treatment again. So true. First-timers - make the most of it please please please please, I really should have last time.

Have seen midwife. Looks like baby is descending and that may or may not mean it is on its way sometime soon. Without doing an internal (no thank you ) there was no way of telling whether its early labour or not. My BP is up and glucose in my urine which she said could well be lack of sleep/being generally run down. Pelvic pain could well be SPD combined with all the BH, might not be any indication of labour. And looks like baby has turned posterior in amongst all the contractions yesterday so she told me to expect the same again some time for him to turn back round - oh joy . All in all just got to wait it out. Was offered to go in for monitoring, but as she said herself that isn't going to tell us much more and would be a PITA with DD. Right, off for my haircut now...

LenniEd · 18/12/2008 12:33

NJ - DD was born 28th Dec, I was in from 25th-29th. I apologise in advance for my snoring too!! (Just in case!) Although can't say I'm planning on being in this xmas, surely I've done my time with that??

OP posts:
LenniEd · 18/12/2008 12:35

And we'll both be questionning the people in the next bed now you know trying to work out if they might be MNer

Keep positive, am sure he'll be fine, and sounds like they are looking after you. Let us know how you get on with monitoring next week.

thanks for advice treedelivery. mmmn may have to use my womanly ways to entice him. he is getting drunk tonight at work party so that will help! possibly him seeing me in something other than pjs, big pants and maternity bra might also help.....sorry to hear you are having a rough time of it. hope the night shift not too bad.
done nothing today other than watch hollyoaks and sleep. very naughty as seriously have lots to do and last ds free day befoe christmas. argh!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 18/12/2008 14:26

We've got a monitoring tomorrow morning as well, so will hopefully we'll get some answers to the 1000's of question we've thought of since walking out of the hospital doors on Tuesday.

You'll know if you're next to me, or in the next room, or the next floor! I will be the one shouting and screaming and mooing....!! I don't do quiet I'm afraid At least I labour quickly so it's over with fairly soon!

hi

back from midwife

midwife felt me for ages and looks like bubs is transverse. going into see midwife in birthing centre tuesday @ 9am she is going to feel again to see if she has moved then try and get a presentation scan

Periwink · 18/12/2008 16:48

MsSparkle - 6 pound baby sounds good to me! My baby is over 6 pound already and still have two weeks to go! Not going to fuss about it - I will just let nature take its course. Good to hear DP is being more considerate - men can be buggers sometimes!

Hi all,

Tried to catch up, but head not in the right place today. Have felt really bleugh all day after having no sleep at all last night due to my flippin ear and toothache returning (killer toothache made me cry lots, resorted to cocodamol in the end). I think I set it off doing the knee to chest manoeuvre again (think its all sinus related). Also spent some time doing various moves with birthing ball before bed and bubs responded by spending the entire night jumping up and down and generally wriggling like a maniac. I really think she was trying her hardest to turn, but it just made me feel really spaced out and sick, sick, sick.

Had consultant appointment this moring.
Had a really funny turn again on way to the clinic and had to keep sitting down for fear of fainting.

Luckily they called me in after just 10 minutes. Unfortunately we then found out the consultant was on holiday!! (DH was livid.) Midwife couldn't decide on position so wheeled in mobile scanner and sure enough, still breech. She pretty much told me straight (in the nicest possible way) that the consultant wouldn't give me any option but a c-section and that the diary is overflowing for next couple of weeks!

When the guy came in to do the scan (don't ask me who he was, they never told me) he was keen to get me to go to the main hospital and try for a natural breech delivery. He seemed very anti section and suggested I go and see one of the consultants at the main hosp next week to discuss possibilities.

Unfortunately I was feeling so rough by then, I couldn't really decide what I wanted to do.

In the end he told the midwife to get me booked to see a consultant at the main site next week and then left. She however felt it would be more beneficial for me to see one of the consultants who covers both sites at the clinic on Monday first thing.

Apparently there aren't any consultants around here who will even attempt a cephalic version so that's probably not an option.

Most probable outcome is a section at the local hospital on 31 December. Going for a natural at the main hospital would be a real pita as is an hour's drive on a good day and if end up with a section after all would be a logistial nightmare for DH. Also it would be medically managed and could well involve a large episiotomy and forceps.

Came home from hospital at 11.30 and crawled into bed, DH fed DS2 and then brought him up at 12.00 and we both slept till Mum brought DS1 home at 3.00! Truth be told I could probably have slept through till tomorrow.

Still feeling really odd and rough so am going to eat then go back to bed.

btw can't get DH off my birthing ball since we blew it up, he's loving it! DS1 has taken a real shine to it too. Don't think I'm going to get a look in!

EachPeachPearMum · 18/12/2008 20:04

moosemama- sorry.... a cephalic version? I have probably missed all this, but what is it please? Sorry about all the sinus problems- mine were terrible pgNo1, but have been a lot better this time round- not sure why as I have been consuming enormous amounts of dairy- drinking so much milk it is ridiculous.

tink re buggy board- the nice ladies on pushchair chat will be able to help you I'm sure!

Got a nice light cotton dressing gown today for hospital- I remember last time I was absolutely sweltering in the ward!

LenniEd · 18/12/2008 21:03

EPPM - external cephalic version (ECV) is when a consultant tries to turn a breech or transverse baby to head down at around 37 weeks. They are a bit controversial as very dependent on the consultant doing them as to whether they are successful and can be traumatise the baby to the extent that an immediate delivery is required by c/s.

Buggy board?? I want to know about them. Friend of a friend who is a physio advised me against them because they apparently throw your posture out but I soooo want one!

And nothing doing here BTW. All gone quiet so expect that was my false alarm and hopefully baby satisfied itself that its staying put til after christmas!

LenniEd · 18/12/2008 21:08

MM - DD also taken a shine to my birthing ball! She rolls it round the room most of the day at the moment! Encourage your DH to use yours though, fab for core strength and pelvic floor which men need too!

Sorry to hear about all the confusion at hospital. Can entirely understand your concerns about going for a natural delivery at the main hospital, esp with 2 other children to take into account. I think I'd be opting for an elective at your local hospital if in your position, esp since your boys are a bit older and not needing carrying like those of us with toddlers so they'd understand why you couldn't do some things for a while after op. Might be worth asking about success rates with natural breech deliveries and intervention rates etc. at the main hospital? Have you anyone to help at home for the first few days to give you time to recover? And can DH cope without you for the hospital stay?

they don't sound like much fun then. (my babies have always been head down, right through pg so I haven't come across this)
