well I'm back - blood pressure down - have been banned from working any longer!!! (Mind you fat chance as it's my own business)

head is 3/5 engaged although still ROA. Mind you midwife said "pleantey of room for hime to move as you're quite big" thanks not!

treedelivery · 06/01/2009 14:21

Think my labour pom poms are too.

fourlittlefeet · 06/01/2009 14:22

fym I'm 3/5 and keeping swinging between roa and loa. my midwife was telling me not an hour ago that its the OA you should focus on, and not worry too much whether left or right! agree with the visualisations thing.

Lenni, what you mean a life away from mumsnet? who else wants to discuss labour niggles and24 hours a day?

right, just scoffed an M&S king prawn chilli noodle salad. yum. off to find pudding

treedelivery · 06/01/2009 14:22

Yay fym - thats a relief. Least your home and not held captive or anything.

fourlittlefeet · 06/01/2009 14:23

I have a special mumsnet labour dance that I used last time to good effect. Am going to use my new found BH spotters this time and use it sparingly.

fourlittlefeet · 06/01/2009 14:23

god. we are all really bored of this, aren't we!?

Spink · 06/01/2009 14:24

LOL at Lenni and your labour flags!

fym glad your bp is down - listen to the experts and rest up!!

ah well, no more niggles really for me, back to tightenings which aren't uncomfortable at all. just as well, as though it would be fab, the timing isn't great if I could order an onset of labour for just after dh gets home, when ds has just dropped off to sleep...

omg, can't believe how many falsies there have been the uncertainty must be driving you mad. Was convinced there would be a couple of births when I logged on. As first timer have no advice but lots of sympathy.

Actually my due date today and still nothing, am totally fed up with this pg lark. Would be fine if I could actually do things with all of this spare time, but even when I stand up now I get these weird shooting pelvic pains so can't even do the jobs I want to get done. Also got a note from one of our neighbours this morning complaining that we were keeping her awake by slamming doors in the middle of the night - we live in an old mid-terrace with not very good soundproofing and have tried to be really quiet, but the only way the doors will shut is if we give them a good shove. Am now worrying about how the baby crying will upset everyone in the night, but short of padding the walls I don't really know what else we could do.
Off to see midwife in an hour when we will have the conversation about booking in sweeps etc, hopefully won't come to that though.

And I don't want to start a competition but my stretch marks now cover my bum, hips, boobs and bump, guess that's what happens when you put on 3 and a half stone in 9 months.

Sorry, moan over. Wrap up warm everyone and try to keep off those icy paths.

fourlittlefeet · 06/01/2009 14:41

MH, feel for you on the stretchmarks, it was one of the reasons I waiting so long to have a baby; my mums are horrendous and she kept smugly telling me 'just you wait, your tummy will look like this one day '

i've just been off to look for auspicious dates for us and the ones I've found for Jan are: 10, 11, 19, 20, 25, 31.

treedelivery · 06/01/2009 14:44

Congrats on the due date MissHairSpray!! Make sure you do something lovely to celebrate as it's lovely thing.

fourlittlefeet · 06/01/2009 14:47

oh, and need to avoid the 15th as according to this it clashes with my chinese birth year. Looks like Jan is a good month for worship and prayer though, according to that site!

Museli · 06/01/2009 16:15

Hello all,

Been following this as am due next week - Tues 13th like a couple of others here. Not sure what to expect re: twinges as it's my first. Missed my 'final' antenatal appt yesterday as, um, fell asleep on sofa so have had to reschedule, but don't suppose they'll tell me anything new. All seems to be fine so far, apart from waking up every 20 mins at night with hip ache - gah.

Put what look like giant versions of my granny's incontinence pads under the bed sheets last night in case of any forthcoming gushing waters. Possibly unnecessary? I don't know..

Now central heating is on the blink so only 14 degrees in the flat, or 10 at night - mmmm, toasty!

Plumber not coming until Thursday. His name is Mr Heaven. We also have a plasterer coming tomorrow, called Mr Honey .

qumps · 06/01/2009 17:14

its the 5th and still no jan babies?! sounds like lots of false alarms though. exciting to read and then oh....
missing you all but feel a bit out of it when i log on as gone to the other side. all good here though.
sending lots of raspberrry tea clary sage and pineapple thoughts your way x

treedelivery · 06/01/2009 17:20

Qumps - do these babies really come out?? Or is all just wind?

CANNOT believe you went swimming dog, the thought of a shivery changing room makes me want to dive under my duvet!! All power to you active one.

Hello Museli

Mum here cleaning like a banshee, good someone has a nesting instinct...she just frowns and grimaces at me when I bend over and wiggle my bum to deal with BH/contractions/wind pain/imagined uterine activity that leads nowhere whatsoever.

If we get to a week in with no babies then I say we complain to someone somewhere.

Trying to think of witty next thread title......can't.

moosemama · 06/01/2009 17:37

Welcome Muesli.

Hi qumps how's the little Stanley doing? Hope you are better now as this level of cold is enough to make anyone's nips sore!

Well, another school run safely manouvered, but corralled into a back entrance with all the other Reception Mums as playground still too treacherous to attempt and got all the inevitable questioning about the baby by just about every single Mum there! Aaaaggghhhh!

Had to resort to paracetamol to manage the walk, even though its only literally 3 minutes door to door and have had to rest again since I got back. Fortunately Mum popped round so she did the boys a snack and a drink while I put my feet up.

Things are much better with Mum now that we've had some time apart over Christmas. She's been round a couple of times this week and I have even been able to tell her about the dressing gown being the wrong size and the security tag on the baby suit. (Amazingly she went home and spent the whole night searching through old receipts and managed to find the right one so we can take it back to have the tag removed after all!)

Is going to be minus 8 round here tonight, brrrrr! Glad DH will be doing the morning school run, although I will of course dutifully be up to do breakfasts, lunch boxes and make sure they have everything they need before they go out - I really hate it if I don't see them before they go to school.

Hi Moose - it's ace that you are having a good spell with your mum [or she is having one with you probably more descibes it?] Even litle things like the snack being done for you for the boys makes it so much easier doesn't it.

Am pleased for you and hope you have nice relaxing evening chuck.

Oh Qumps had forgotten about your nip. Not ideal weather!!

fourlittlefeet · 06/01/2009 18:10

hello museli!

anyone got any action tonight?

treedelivery · 06/01/2009 18:12

Yes. I have acup of tea coming and a tin of quality street and I'm in bed.

I'd call that action!

fourlittlefeet · 06/01/2009 18:16

How about something about beans wiggling, bumps niggling, once we start popping there'll be no stopping (we hope).

fourlittlefeet · 06/01/2009 18:20

oooh sounds lovely tree. I can't stop eating crap at the moment. Went to marks and sparks and bought some of those 2 for £4 tubs of snacks (choc cornflake cakes/flapjacks). Thought they'd be good for labour, but I've already finished most of the cornflake bites.
