still here

good luck fym and tree doesnt sound long.

moosemama · 06/01/2009 12:37

Tree I don't think I'd like to move the induction forward. I barely had any spd this time round until he did the sweep and would like to avoid too many more internals if I can. It definitely seems to improve with rest (as long as I rest in the right position) but am so bored and should be doing a million and one things. Feel frustrated as would usually have the house all ship shape and bristol fashion after the kids have been back at school for a couple of hours, but have been forced to sit and watch daytime television instead and I think it might have killed a few brain cells off!

books mine was still cephalic with head well down but free yesterday. The consultant said its generally not an issue as second or third babies tend not to engage until labour starts because they have more room.

moosemama · 06/01/2009 12:44

Oh, Tree referring back to one of our previous conversations, have had 3 trips to the toilet for upset tum in past hour so looks like I am joining the pooing club after all.

Just put together the symptoms I've been getting, low periody abdo cramps, upset tum, twinges and tightenings, feeling odd and shaky, oh and as of an hour ago (tmi warning) massive increase in discharge - am I in denial do you think?

Nah! Don't think I am, just doesn't 'feel' like I'm going into labour. Anyway I can't possibly go into labour at least till DH gets home from work tonight as have to fetch the boys from school at 3.00, the lounge hasn't been vacuumed and there is a huge pile of clean baby clothes on the settle that I can't carry upstairs!

hello, am sure I'm getting totally ahead of myself, but I'm on my own and need a talking to! having pretty regular tightenings, uncomfortable but not painful, about every 6 mins lasting 30ish secs. Had irregularish but strong BHs all morning.
Can you tell me that this could be another falsie please because my parent's plane has just landed and I need to pick them up from the train station in a couple of hours, and ds from nursery after that? Dh is at work til 7pm.
Am planning to do some floor mopping and then get into the bath to see if that brings it all to a close...

moosemama · 06/01/2009 12:56

books might sound a bit daft, but worked for me when mine was breech and I wanted her to turn .... Run yourself a nice bubble bath tonight, light a couple of candles and spend some time floating about relaxing. Then start to visualise your baby in the right position with head engaged and have a sort of mental heart to heart at the same time explaining what you want LO to do.

I know it sounds completely hippy, but mine turned that night so am starting to become a bit of a believer in positive visualisation and the like (please don't tell my Mum though, she'll think I've gone over to her side ).

I should have another go with my LO actually, she currently seems to think that in order to engage she has to keep headbutting and grinding her head against my right hip bone!

elkiedee · 06/01/2009 12:56

FLF, eek what a disappointment for you. Hope those of you getting so many twinges will have it all happen for you very soon.

My last day at work today, am trying to show my cover various strange things and throw out lots of rubbish that I should have chucked last time. Want to slump at my desk but it's not mine any more!

tinkwantsherbaby · 06/01/2009 13:20

sounds good mm and spink not long for you

LenniEd · 06/01/2009 13:23

Spink - are you still there? Are you ok?

OP posts:
Spink · 06/01/2009 13:30

hello Lenni - just about to get into the bath. Moving around made no difference, still the same time apart and length. But not any more painful, so they could just be BHs couldn't they?

fourlittlefeet · 06/01/2009 13:52

good luck Spink! mine were 3 mins apart and lasting more than 40 secs for over 2 hours. more painful lying down, and stronger standing up. still came to nothing. Just spoke to consultant midwife who said that when the pains start to move round to the front/feel like pulsing period pains, thats when you know. Mine have never felt like period pains, just stong and uncomfortable lower back pressure!

fourlittlefeet · 06/01/2009 13:53

I'm not going in again until I've had a show with contractions or my waters breaking. am too embarrassed. might even hide from the thread after giving you all so much hope last night!

LenniEd · 06/01/2009 13:54

Could be, hard to tell though without giving it time. Bath should tell you more. If they don't stop in bath then I'd called DH and get him to pick your parents up if he can on his way home. You should have long enough for them all to get back shouldn't you?

OP posts:
LenniEd · 06/01/2009 13:55

Sorry - that was for Spink!

FLF - don't you go anywhere! I've had a couple of falsies too remember!!

OP posts:
fourlittlefeet · 06/01/2009 13:57

lol Lenni, still expecting you to lead the way. get sniffing that stuff. I've hidden the bottle for now, will bring it out again on Friday!

treedelivery · 06/01/2009 14:06

Oh God it's all sooooo confusing isn't it? Yet I remember waking up with dd1, at 4am on Oct 3 after weeks of niggling I guess, and thinking Oh now there is no arguing with this - this is it and if it isn't then this is very bad indeed. It was it. Had her 2.15 am the next morning. Aw. Happy memories [in between the shouting and swearing]

2nd time I'm so worried that I'll miss it! Plus the logistics involved mean that it can't just happen any old time - there is ironing and cot making and pre-school runs....

I've telling people for years it's easier 2nd time round but infact, I'm finding it more bloody confusing!!

I can imagine how hard it must be for you Moose, I'm frustrated and I have a mum here hoovering and an unemployed dh doing cooking etc as I speak so a proper spoilt princess. So having the boys and the school runs etc with that pelvic pain - so hard for you when you want to be nest building. So boring too - thank Lord for mumsnet.

LenniEd · 06/01/2009 14:06

FLF - LOL at "Thats when you know" Don't think us lot are ever going to know! When I had DD I remember looking at "Am I in labour?" threads on here and thinking how on earth can people not know well, looks like that's come back to haunt me!

OP posts:
treedelivery · 06/01/2009 14:07

I felt like that flf - am getting over now though. But yes not mentioning anything to anyone till I see water, hair or am mooing like a cow. This includes dh and mum!

LenniEd · 06/01/2009 14:09

x-posts there Tree

I think the logistics definitely make you more panicky second time. I had DD in 12 hours so midwife said I should be looking at 6-8 this time if all goes well given that DD was a complicated labour but still not all that slow. It takes me an hour to get to the hospital, and will take DH about 30mins to get DD to PIL and back to me. So that already cuts me down to about 4 hours, say it takes me an hour to decide whether I'm in labour or not (yeah, more like 3 weeks!!) then I'm down to 3 hours... now that seems mighty close for comfort really...

hiya, bath was lovely, lit the Jo Malone candle I got from SIL for Christmas, and chilled out. Everything has calmed, still getting the little monkeys but not as often. We are so well practised on this thread!! Now I understand why labours start on films and TV with waters breaking - how frustrated would the audience be when the woman turned to her dp for the 8th time and said "do you know what?.."

FLF - def no need to hide away from us! I for one am reassured that it seems to be such a common thing and the falsies are hitting lots of us. I really really really feel for you - didn't realise yours were coming so often and for so long. Blimey. In your shoes I wouldn't have believed it WASN'T happening and would've staged some sort of sit in.

Ok. Off to dry hair and find a towel to sit on in the car

LenniEd · 06/01/2009 14:15

Spink - that's an awfully long bath you're having. I'll be getting my labour flags out soon if you're not careful

OP posts:
LenniEd · 06/01/2009 14:16

Oh dammit, think my labour flags are cursed. Glad I'm not the only one sitting on towels Right better go and get on with my life

OP posts:
fourlittlefeet · 06/01/2009 14:16

lol at mooing like a cow. In Labour ward last night, heard a strange noise and asked the midwife 'is that a man?'

fourlittlefeet · 06/01/2009 14:16

does anyone else miss mumsnet emoticons when emailing and texting?!

LenniEd · 06/01/2009 14:17

Yep FLF - I even miss them in regular conversations
