Sorry, original title.

Anyway, hello everyone, I'm due 6th July (although no scan yet, so date will probably move). Excited but knackered and queasy so far, although having read (some!) of the last thread I've got off pretty easily so far.

OP posts:

Hi guy's, congrats on all the great scans and good look for everyone's coming up - Mine's tomorrow! Been signed off work for 2 wks! Still got an ear infection that hasn't gone with one lot of anti-biotis so got a different type now. I saw the Physio last wk for my back and she said my spine has started to curve at the bottom - a pregnancy related thing - gave me some exercises to do but it's not really helping.

Looking forward to the time off work anyway! Cannot wait to see my consultant tomorrow - people I know have said he's really lovely - a cross between Peter Kay and Ricky Gervais! Hoping he lives up to his rep and is nice to me. Going to be discussing the 3rd degree tear I had last time etc.

I'm still feeling lots of movement all the time now and it's great. Gone of a lot of food again now - cannot eat chicken, turkey, mince anything - only thing I can eat is steak fajitas or jacket pots and beans. Gone off bread too. I just keep craving fresh fruit and really cold and crucnhy salad - but also crisps and sweets and ice lollies and ice cream. Weird but defo gone of hot meals really.

Having nightmares almost nightly now and they range from something happening to the baby to my DD being in mortal danger, it's very unsettling.

Had DD's hair cut for the first time on Sunday, it's in a chin lengt bob and I cannot stop looking at her she looks so cute and it's freaking me out just how grown up she's getting (3yrs)

well I'm 20 wks tomorrow and it is starting to feel like not really that long to go now!

EvieBear · 18/02/2009 12:46

Hi everyone!
Good to hear everyone's news... My 20 week scan is next Monday 23rd at 9am, really can't wait, it seems an age since the 12 week one we had on 19th Dec. Will be so nice to see LO again and really hope he/she is a healthy baby!! We won't be finding out the sex as DP is adamant it remains a surprise but I'd love to find out! I guess when I'm in all that pain it will be nice to know that I'll be pushing to finally find out the sex.
Have also just booked a girly weekend with my two friends in March, we're going to Madrid so
looking forward to that too
trying to think of nice names now, and really feel like starting to shop for a few nice items too, esp after 20 weeks scan if all is ok.
That's all from me...

Hi Everyone!
I'm a newbie. My name's Elle and I'm due 31 July 2009. I'm so excited it's ridiculous! I'm 38, married, and have a DS who is 20 months....! Am gonna be a busy mummy come August!
Well, just wanted to introduce myself!
Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying pregnancy now we're out of the sick zone!
xxxElle

ilikeyoursleeves · 18/02/2009 21:39

Hi all, hope you are all well, welcome littlepipbumpmummy! Well the news from my end is that I got a letter today to say that babba is in the low risk category for DS and spina bifida so that's good news

Just wanted to ask- is there anyone who isn't having much movement yet? I'm 17+5 and not felt baba much at all, I thought I was starting to feel him weeks ago but I've not had anything else really. I know he is OK cos I have a doppler but I thought I'd be feeling him by now cos I felt DS by 18 weeks and I thought you could feel babies move earlier in 2nd pregnancy??? Should I be worried at all?

deleting · 18/02/2009 22:12

becca - sorry you're having a rough time with spd.
ilikeyoursleeves - congrats on your news.

we had our 20 week today and were told we're in the clear. everything looked normal and the fluid is now within normal levels. we got some nice pics and even a couple of 3d ones, which were fantastic. The cord was round its shoulders like a scarf and it kept sticking its nose in the placenta. We didn't ask what sort it was, although it was slightly tempting, even though I was adamant I didn't want to know. Went for a celebration lunch.
Lots of movement now, although likeyoursleeves I didn't have any at 17 weeks.
sleepwalking a lot nowadays, keep finding myself somewhere else in the middle of the night.
After our good news, i feel i can start planning stuff, will start sorting out the spare bedroom and turning it into some sort of nursery.
hope everyone well.

Phoenix · 19/02/2009 11:18

Welcome and congrats to littlepipbumpmummy

Becca - Sorry your having a bad time with the spd.

for all scans.

I've been to gp's this morning with my bum/back pain and he said it's muscular ligament thing and just to take paracetamol, do gentle stretching exercises and use hot water bottle/wheat bag. Oh and he signed me off sick for a month.

Andie01 · 19/02/2009 11:55

Hi!
Welcome to all the newbies and congrats on all the scans. I don't have my 20 wk scan til 13th March (a Friday!!!) and it seems so long away!

ilikeyoursleeves I'm also not having much movement and I'm 17+4 today. Also my second pregnancy so I was wondering the same as you! I have doppler leant to me by a friend (it's fab!) and can hear heartbeat fine so I know baby ok. Baby seems to be quite far down when I find heart beat so don't know if that has anything to do with it? I do feel the odd flutter occasionally but nothing that I could categorically say was the baby. Glad to hear it's not just me!

Nothing really exciting to tell - extreme tiredness seems to have lifted for now and feeling better in myself. Once I have 20wk scan will then have to start thinking about moving ds into his new bedroom as makes more sense for nursery to stay nursery as much smaller room. Ds really likes cars and trains so think will decorate along those lines and make big thing of it being a big boys room! Any advice from those who have done it greatly appreciated!

Gillyan · 19/02/2009 14:05

Hi all! Had my scan this morning and everything looks perfect with little one - it's a GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!! So pleased as this is what i wanted! Could see her ( that souns weird saying her yet)waving and trying to suck her thumb and opening and closing her mouth - it was amazing and I don't remember seeing so much with DD. DP filled up. So relieved everything seems okay! The consultant I need to see wasn't in so got to see him at 29wks now to discuss birth options.

Congrats on scans and welcome to more new mummy's to be! There are so many of us now!

Andie We're going to move DD into the big spare room after baby is born and she's going toget the double bed thats in there, our plan is same as yours, decorate and I'm going to get her matching curtains and bedside lamp and her fisrt clock etc to make it a big girls room. We have 2 floors in our house so she will be on the first floor next to bathroom and the us and baby next to us in othe room on the top floor . I think she'll love it. Good luck.

ActivityApple - I've been into work to take sick note and have a chat with my manager. She is going to see if i can do another job at the mail centre in Leeds instead of what i do now (driving a van and collecting mail) and maybe get me back to work within a month if i feel better.

Phoenix · 19/02/2009 17:17

Didn't mean to post that yet.

Congrats on your baby girl Gillyan

hobnob57 · 19/02/2009 20:00

Hello ladies, just popping in to say hi . I've been lurking a bit and so pleased at such good news, especially Gillyan after your early scares it must be such a relief to get to see your wee girl safe and well at 20 weeks! We would have been having our scan next week, it's hard not to keep thinking about how my comfy bump is missing, but we're still working on replacing it! Enjoy this nicer stage without so many of the weird food aversions and crippling tiredness. Saying that, I remember in my last pg feeling knackered all the time but forgetting at each stage how bad it was previously. For those with SPD my heart goes out to you. Really do go to an osteo if you can possibly make it. I fully intend to next time around.

Good luck and good cheer!

thelollipoplady · 19/02/2009 20:12

How many of us due in July?! It takes ages to read through all the updates after skiving being busy with the children on halfterm all week!

ilikeyoursleeves - I only felt my first kicks last night ... and I'm 20 weeks! I wonder if like someone else said, baby's just been kicking my back and not front. i was so excited i woke dh up to feel the baby ... of course he couldn't feel anything and was a bit miffed to be woken up in the middle of the night...

had my scan on wednesday and ... IT'S A BOY!! nearly fell on the floor when sonographer told me, i was so sure it was going to be another girl. secretly a bit disappointed too - although i already have 2 beautiful dds - i just had pictured 3 little girls. silly isn't it. they're v excited about their brother though - and gillyan i'm sure your DD will love having a little sister.

thelollipoplady · 19/02/2009 20:18

reading hobnob57's post makes my silly niggles seem so shallow and unimportant. wishing you all the best hobnob57 i so hope you get good news soon.

Hiya hobnob nice to hear from you - yes very relieved after all those scares - It must be hard for you as the weeks pass thinking what would of been, I am so sorry - my friend has just lost a baby and I just feel terrible as I'm pregnant - Good luck and keep your chin up xx

activity Don't worry about having a preferance. I don't know why I did I just knew that if she said 'GIRL' I would be like 'YES' and if she said 'BOY' i would of been like, ok right.. I have no idea why but I like to think it's because I had some idea really - not just that I don't like boys! I am sure I wouldn't of minded I really was more concerned about everything being ok. Hope you get what u want tho!

Congrats to everyone on great scan results!!

LargeGlassofRed · 19/02/2009 20:24

Hi all had my 20 week scan today all went very well.
One baby was sucking his thumb so cute. Both have their heads right down will try and upload some is when I get a mo.

Hobnob good to hear from you glad things going well.

thelollipoplady · 19/02/2009 20:26

christiana's child-free weekend

  • eat chocolate biscuits without having to share them
  • sit in a cafe with a huge latte and the saturday papers
  • go to the cinema in the afternoon to watch a film that doesn't involve princesses / talking donkeys / superheroes
  • paint your nails without smudging them by taking toddler to the toilet
  • go into a bookshop without leaving with a charlie & lola book
  • and then get maudlin - phone them just to hear their voices and end up buying them huge extravagant presents

but don't UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES attempt to clean out any cupboards...

ilikeyoursleeves · 19/02/2009 20:30

I just tried to count everyone on the list and there's 71 of us!!! No wonder this board moves so fast!

Exciting news on finding out you are having a girl Gillyan!

lollipop little boys are just fab, I have one and he is the most delicious thing on the planet and so laidback, a dream baby (most of the time!)- so don't worry!

Went to see the midwife today (first time meeting local midwife) and she was lovely and checked babba on the doppler, nice strong HB. I did think today I felt something that might be babba but not sure... I went to Mothercare too on the way home and was soooo wanting to buy some ickle clothes but I don't know the flavour and it's still all winter stuff. I looked at double buggies too, some of them look enormous so I am thinking of the Phil & Teds but then baby will be lying looking at DS's bum all day. Anyone else on the hunt for a double buggy?????? Any advice?

ilikeyoursleeves · 19/02/2009 20:37

Christiana I'm like you, whenever I have baby free time I end up doing all the housework! I have next Wednesday all to myself though as I'm off work and DS will be in nursery all day and DH will be up North so I'll be watching any suggestions too for how to fill that baby free time! I plan on maybe going into town and wandering about the shops, walking up the stairs rather than finding lifts, going for a cuppa etc. Or I might just go back to bed all day!

xxhunnyxx · 19/02/2009 21:04

I know I'm early for asking this but do I really need maternity pads or can i just use super super absorbant sanitry towells? I'm only asking cos they're half price in Sainsburys so I nearly bought some but they just look so horrible and thick!

Also, does anybody know if it's defo true that SMP is increasing to 12 months in April? will be so pleased if it is, the longer off work the better!

dannyg · 19/02/2009 21:12

Hia had not nice few days my hips and pubic bone has been really painful think its SPD, After i had Ds 2 i suffered with this really badly although not through the pregnancy. I'm am now frustrated i have started to get those horrible feelings again was kinda hoping i was being paranoid, But now scared how bad its going to be.
ilikeyoursleeves I have bought a Phil & Teds Sport with double kit as Ds 2 will be 26mons when i have bubs, it is great have tried out all the options, bought a car seat adapter for it too. It certainly ticks all my boxes x x

Phoenix · 19/02/2009 21:17

Just googled and found this hunny

Phoenix · 19/02/2009 21:22
