Anyone due July 2009? Part 2

Sorry, original title.

Anyway, hello everyone, I'm due 6th July (although no scan yet, so date will probably move). Excited but knackered and queasy so far, although having read (some!) of the last thread I've got off pretty easily so far.

OP posts:

christiana - we're flying BA; they're happy to take you up to 36 weeks (but after 28 weeks you need a doctor's letter saying you're fit to fly).

It's the travel insurance that's harder to find. After about 32 weeks they don't like to insure you and have all sorts of clauses about not covering anything pregnancy related. So I'd check that before committing.

Belgrano · 12/02/2009 19:13

Ah yes I know this one - I am going to France camping when i will be 35 weeks. yes I know, little bit mad but its a v g friend's wedding and we're going on the ferry. Anyway I looked long and hard at the travel insurance issue and it's like this:

  1. If you're going within Europe, the EHIC card is a big bonus and basically gives yuo travel insurance AS LONG as you get to the equivalent of an NHS hossie and not a swanky private one. I am lukcy as the nearest one to my campsite in Brittanny is state.
  2. Then if you really do need travel insurance maybe because you're not going to an EHIC country or you want additional cover, the Danish company called ihi-Danmark offer it until about 36 wks if i remember rightly. It's underwritten by BUPA so you might be able to find the same one on searching for BUPA. It is about £50 for a week so not cheap but cheaper than getting pre-eclampsia in Egypt or somewhere and not being insured due to pregnancy...

Hello all

Thanks everyone for all your good wishes.

I'm with you RubyRiley, at the moment things are fine with baby so no point in worrying, I can't change the anomoly so we just have to get on with it. I had a mad day when I did frantic internet searching to find out what an absent DV meant and got upset, but each case is different and I've pulled myself together! I'm lucky I've got this far with my wrinkly eggs and I'm getting great care.

Hunny great news about you and bf, wishing you all the best.

I'm still eating for England I'm ravenous constantly. Original hula hoops have suddenly become an obsession, don't think I've eaten a packet in the previous 5 years but making up for it now!

Poppet I developed a pot belly at 10 weeks and could no longer fit into my jeans, thought I could hide it over Christmas but didn't fool anyone they all guessed, with the amount of HH I'm going to be as big as a house!!

plot2 · 12/02/2009 21:51

P.S Get well soon AApple, horrible getting sick while pregnant.

Misspaella · 13/02/2009 08:56

Morning everyone
I haven't had a chance to read over the last posts but hope all is well and wish everyone who has reached the 2nd scan stage has heard nothing but good news.

I would love to hear any "dealing with bad lower back" advice as mine is really stiff and twinges A LOT. It has started keeping me awake at night too (like I need that). I have never had back problems and this is my 3rd pg....I exercise, started the Shiva Rea yoga and trying to not lift my 3 yr old as much as before (still have to lift DD - 20 months is too young to not carry about when you are running around).

If I could afford a couple of treatments what should I go for?

I really don't want this to persist. Being 19 weeks means there is still a long way to go.

Christiana the yoga really helps. There are a few stretches that are brilliant so no need to feel guilty.

I went to GP and she is referring me but asked if I had private medical (er no...) or could afford treatments myself as the wait time could be a while. I have borrowed a brace from my friend (especially for pg ladies) and that seems to help.

I am just wondering if I could find the money if it best spent seeing an osteopath or acupuncturist.

Hopefully it will be ok.

Ah that reminds me must get my maternity pillow out of in laws loft.

Misspaella · 13/02/2009 13:30

Belgrano you are mad. Camping at 35 weeks.....go girl.

I second the osteo - they have worked wonders for me
here is a courtesy of ds as he took a liking to the pic !

EvieBear · 14/02/2009 10:28

Hi all, I'm panicking slightly... you may have seen my earlier post about feeling movement. Maybe I am over-reacting... It's just last week I felt a lot of movement and this week it hasn't been the same. I feel the odd flutter where I'm not sure if it's wind or not (it's that vague). Hope all is ok - anyone else in the same boat? Is it normal to have period of a lot less activity? Don't have a doppler or anything to check myself... Guess I'll just have to wait for scan on 23rd.

Mij · 14/02/2009 12:56

MissP I heartily recommend Pilates. A couple of private sessions with someone with antenatal experience will give you stuff to do at home and won't lock you in to more expense. Also does wonders for the pelvic floor.

Have you tried pillows to relieve aches in certain positions? Between the knees or stuffed tightly behind your lower back if lying on your side, under the knees if lying on your back?

Evie - this is my second and I'm feeling a lot less movement, from memory, that I did before. Have you been especially busy the last few days? It might sound weird but when it's still quite early, if you're distracted you may just not be noticing it as much. If you're really concerned just give the midwife a call and they should pop round with a doppler.

EvieBear · 14/02/2009 18:53

Thanks Mij - I haven't been that much busier. My midwife is impossible to contact at this stage in the pregnancy - she only has an answering machine you leave a message on (I've done this before and not heard back ), may go to GP Monday or just leave it till . It's just strange as the movement had been quite strong... it is still early days too.

Patchybob · 14/02/2009 19:08

EvieBear I wouldn't worry about movement at this stage, there is so much room in there that the baby has to only be in a certain place for you to feel it one moment and moved the next. I am pregnant with my 3rd and have had very little movement. Quite alot the other day and nothing for 2 days. Try not to let it worry you xx

Wiltedrose · 14/02/2009 19:10

eviebear am having exactly the same, for the last 2 days nothing at all, and was also starting to worry - and then a little boot by my belly button today whilst lying quietly on the bed - think that I'm on the go all the time so it gets lots of movement. Have you tried relaxing and just lying quietly to see if that helps?

Dont' also forget that if baby is turned round so legs are away from the front you won't feel as much anyway.

mij - also my 2nd, also feeling less movement than I remember the first time. Again probably because you are more active with one to look after already?

Misspaella · 14/02/2009 19:24

Thanks for the advice ladies.

The brace is doing wonders and I have adjusted my exercise regime to compensate for the pg body. Still think I may see an osteo or look into pilates to really keep whatever is lurking at bay.

I have really been feeling the baby but haven't taken notice of daily movements. Seem to forget with 2 little ones running around me.

Misspaella · 14/02/2009 19:25

Forgot to say
Happy Valentines....we are having a romantic dinner in, in a mo if DD would just stop crying. Better go.

Wiltedrose · 14/02/2009 19:26

We're in tonight too - have decorated the table and everything Now, do I or don't I have just one glass of that lovely sparkling rose in the fridge......

LittleDoe · 14/02/2009 19:32

Hi Folks,

Sorry I'm a little late joining in on this thread but have added my name and due date in below, hope this is okay!

Great to hear how everyone is getting on. It's our first baby so everything is really new...however I'm pretty sure I've felt no movement yet. I think that's okay though, as have read you don't feel it until a bit later with your first?

Oh and Happy Valentines Day! xxx

We are having M&S food...almost bought one of those little bottles of sparking wine but then decided against it at last minute. So currently sipping a cranberry juice. Boo.

LargeGlassofRed · 14/02/2009 21:41

Quick hello to all, anyone else hungry all the time? when I decide i'm hungry I can't think about anything other than food
I'm gaining weight rapidly at th moment and my bump is huge!
Think its at least 7 months size already and itchy due to skin stretching.
Have my 20 week scan on thursday, can't wait dp's parents and mine coming, not sure if they'll let us all in but worth a try

Phoenix · 14/02/2009 21:45

Welcome and congrats LittleDoe

Just tell them you're having twins and should be allowed more people in the scan than normal LGOR

LargeGlassofRed · 14/02/2009 21:47

Thats what I thought phoenix
