Congratulations to all those I haven't yet congratulated on their babies... we must be nearly there with deliveries now. How many people left to go?

I had a weird night last night - cluster feeding 6:30pm to 1am (awful) then sleep til 5:30 (amazing!) and again til 8:30!! Crikey. I feel almost normal today!! DD2 has also put on another 6.5oz in six days which is great. The hospital results have come back and there's nothing serious causing the jaundice, so we just have to do another level in a week to check it's coming down.

I'm meant to be goung out singing for two hours tonighr, and haveexpressed 100ml in readiness... but am wondering if it's wise. given how unsettled DD2 was last night. Any views?

Sorry for lack of detailed personals but I hope you'll understand. Just a quick one for LadyT to say I wish I knew what worked for anger... do let me know if you find anything. I can vouch for the fact that throwing the alarm clock across the room doesn't work .

artichokes · 22/12/2008 15:22

aled jones?!
aled jones

ladyt - i see you in a whole new (and slightly worrying) light.

i am feeding dd in front of grey's anatomy. total schmaltz but patrick dempsey stars...

rosmerta · 22/12/2008 15:25

ladyt Aled Jones

trace glad to hear Pheobe is doing really well & well done to your dd1 for her play!

Ds2 still didn't pass his hearing test. The audiologist said it was on the edge but she couldn't clear him so he has to go back for more testing at the end of Jan.

rosmerta · 22/12/2008 15:27

arti I often feed ds2 in front of Grey's Anatomy as well!

EffiePerine · 22/12/2008 15:29

LadyT: that is disturbing . Am v impressed at you getting chatted up at the Ivy, can't remember the last time that happened to me (at any venue) post-partum or not!

JamInMyWellies · 22/12/2008 15:30

Katie, Lachie also likes to fall asleep with my boob we have just given him a dummy which tbh I am really not keen on but he is pretty sucky for instance so far this arvo he fed at 12 then 1.30, 2.30 and now. Then I just pull it out once he has dropped off.

LadyT Aled Jones thats not too bad I admitted a few months ago that I have a thing for the bearded bloke on Dragons Den.

DP is in the kitchen with DS1 making rocky road he has decided that we are going to give everyone a little bag of rocky road from the boys as little pressies. Lord knows what my kitchen will look like when he is finished and he just allowed Archie to come wandering into the lounge with a fistful of chocolate. [rolling eyes]

VersOComeAllYeFaithful · 22/12/2008 15:40

can't believe I let the Aled Jones thing pass without comment... or bearded Dragon(what's his name?!!)... we should all fess up to our weird crushes - would be fun . Mine are Kevin McCloud and Patrick Stewart... their voices!!! >melt

IceCube · 22/12/2008 15:45

Bisou - my due date is wrong on the list, 18th is the original date by my LMP when I first posted. It was changed to 11th after my first scan but I was so unconvinced
I never changed it on the list. Guess that's a bit confusing for everyone though so go ahead and change it if you are doing another list of those of us still waiting.

The home birth deadline is due to being too overdue and therefore considered to be in a higher risk category. They would like me to be induced on Xmas eve at 40+13 but were fine when I said I would prefer to have monitoring on boxing day and talk about my options then.

Had a sweep today, but midwife said she could only fit the tip of her finger in and therefore it was only a gentle one. No cramps or discharge either like others have reported so i am not too hopeful of it working. Did other people's midwives say they had been able to reach into the cervix to do their sweeps?

I have avoided accupuncture thus far as I am not keen on needles but it sounds better than a "strapped to bed induction" so anyone with reassuring stories about how good accupuncture is please post!

majormoo · 22/12/2008 16:19

Icecube I had a sweep and was told my cervix was totally posterior and she could not even do the sweep. I felt really despondent but did go into labour a few days later anyway. I tried acupunture out of desperation as was so late. Who knows whether it worked or not but was very relaxing. Bisou they put needles in my legs, arms, hands and back. Hope you both go into labour soon as it does drive you mad being overdue.

must go as need to take DS2 from DH. (I cannot believe I have two sons!)

waitinggirl · 22/12/2008 16:27

icecube - the acupuncture needles are so tiny you can (most of the time) barely feel them. my lady has to twiddle them in order for me to feel them (which is a sign they are stimulating my whatsits/meridians/energy points etc. also the "rule" with needles is not to look at them, and to breathe in and then concentrate on the breath out as they go in (your acupuncturist should guide you through this - and being a blood donor i am amazed that donor nurses don't do it - "here comes a little scratch" is so rubbish in comparison)

verso - i think there must be plenty of people who haven't sprogged yet, but there's so little to say in comparison with those who have little ones. very interesting to read about other people's experiences, though, while waiting.

ladyt and others - am i wrong in thinking there's nothing wrong in fancying a bit of aled jones??? obviously i am very wrong.

SummerLightning · 22/12/2008 16:53

icecube to answer your earlier question, about what I've done to get the baby down, did do some big walks and some sex . Not convinced these have done anything though!
However, looking at my notes it actually says 3/5 engaged rather than fully engaged anyway so I don't know what is going on.
The state of me was similar to you when I had my sweep done. I asked her if she thought it would do much as as I understand it if they can't get right in there and push the membranes out of the way it's unlikely to. she said no it was unlikely to actually work and start labour. But I then asked her if it was worth doing the sweep that I had booked in a couple of days and she said yes.

So better than the situation that majormoo had. My friend had a sweep and she couldn't do anything and she said it wasn't even worth coming back in a couple of days.

It seems a bit of a bummer that they changed your dates when you were so unconvinced!! Espeically as you'd only be a few days over like me if they hadn't.

LadyT I don't even know what Aled Jones looks like these days. I can only remember him from the Walking in the Air days.

The only dodgy crush I have is Gordon Ramsay. Which I don't think is that dodgy really.

verso I think there are quite a lot of people left to go still looking at the list. I make it about 15 or so regular posters left to go!! But well over half seem to have popped already!

OrangeCrush · 22/12/2008 16:59

Jollybear just read your post and haven't caught up on this thread yet but thought I would chip in.

I'm in same boat as you and not allowed to bf due to medication. BabyOrange was really reluctant to feed at first and we had to stay in an extra night until he was able to take 30ml in one sitting.

The paed checked him all over and nothing wrong - they thought there may have been an undiscovered cleft right at the back of his mouth but there was no problem - have they checked for anything like this? In the end I think he was just exhausted from the birth, plus I'd had pethadine, and he had loads of mucous in all his passages and his tummy which was stopping him feeling hungry.

I am sure there will be a simple reason for babyJolly not being v interested - we found the teats on the disposable SMA bottles from the hospital were the easiest ofr us and now happily using avent teats on normal bottles and he's up to about 75ml+ per feed.

Hope things have improved since you posted.

EffiePerine · 22/12/2008 17:00

Verso and LadyT, I see your strange crushes and raise you Rowan Atkinson and Ron Silver

OrangeCrush · 22/12/2008 17:04

waiting girl LOL re your MIL. You are not being a bitch I felt exactly the same, and there must be a God because he sent the flu to both mothers and neither have been able to visit so far .

PIL now 'booked in' for a visit on Boxing Day but have to stay over because they live so far away - my mum doesn't know this yet and can't wait for the rushed visit to be announced to make sure she is first to hold DS!

sparklingreactions · 22/12/2008 17:06

all replies have said they didnt understand my post so ill try again would REALLYYY appreciate if anyone could give me knowlogable answer as im really confused lol here i go...

i had a period may 25th 08
i have a 35 day cycle
i had sex june 16t 08
had a scan that showed 8 weeks on july 30th (this put my period at a week later than it was but minus the 2 weeks before i concieved it pretty much went back to the day i concieved)
had a 2nd scan that showed 13+1 (4 days less that the 1st scan showed they took my due date of 15th march 09 from this)
then 3rd scan at 21 weeks(tied in exactly with the 1st scan)
my due date is march 14
my question is would you trust this or could i have gotton pregnant before that period the month before as ppl keep commenting how 'big' i am for 28 weeks! would you trust these scans as i dont want 2 go over by a month could it be possible? anyone please help xxxxx

sparklingreactions · 22/12/2008 17:07

dont know if im askin the rite place bu any1 with an anser i would be so grateful xxxx

OrangeCrush · 22/12/2008 17:12

Sorry I still really can't catch up with everything that is going on on this thread as felt like total cr*p for the last 2 days as NOOOOO SLLEEEEEEPPPP!

Anyway lovely MW recommended that we try Infacol to help with babyOrange's wind issues which was resulting in non stop screaming from about 11pm til 4am .

And I am pleased to say that last night it seemed to have worked - she said it would take a few feeds to get in his system. They should not let you leave hospital without a bottle. IT IS MAGIC. Even had enough energy to go out of the house for the first time today to have lunch out with DH, and I squeezed into my jeans to celebrate I think there is going to be life after birth.... so to speak.

kayzr · 22/12/2008 17:41

Sparklingreactions I don't know if I would trust it. Maybe see if you can have another scan just to make sure. Don't worry about your bump looking big, my bump measured 'normally' during my pregnancy and DS2 was 10lb 5oz!!

SummerLightning · 22/12/2008 17:45

Sparklingreactions You might want to post in "Pregnancy" topic as this is thread for people due this month! Unless your bump is really big I don't think that's you
Basically I don't know the answer to your question but I would go with a combination of the 8 and 13 week scan dates and when you think you conceived. Definintely take no notice of people saying you are big. People always say you are big/small!! Different people just look different.

kayzr · 22/12/2008 17:49

ARGH!!!!

Typed a really long post about wierd crushes and everything and I pressed the wrong button!!!!

Anyway!!

My wierd crushes are Anthony Hamilton, Lewis's Dad, roll on the formula 1 season and Gary Lineker. Strangely enough whenever I have a wierd crush it seems to be an older man.

I am really hoping I get discharged by the MWs tomorrow. I was meant to be discharged today but they wanted an extra day just to monitor DS2's weight gain. Surely that is what the HV is for.
Speaking of HV's having DS2 means going back to the bloody clinic to have him weighed. Its always too hot, lots of screaming and now I have DS1 to watch while I have to get DS2 weighed.

Are you all ready for Xmas?

Veggiemummy · 22/12/2008 17:50

Well being Aussie I have no idea who Aled Jones is but I think Alan Rickmans voice is really sexy. I still want to do naughty things to Noel Fielding and...well this is a little embarrassing esp as an Arsenal fan but I was watching a Liverpool match the other day and found my eyes drawn time and again to Robbie Keane's...erm...package. It seemed quite...ah...ample. Poor DH keeps having to listen to exclamations about different male specimens but then I have also been expressing my apprecition of his lovely bott bott so I'm sure he is ok with it.

I think I would like to be a MILF, I think I would be quite happy with that.

LadyT your relative was very out of line, are they a bit of a gossip or just wanted to have something to tell this person?

Majormoo well done sounds like a great birth.

Invisible well done on your vbac and did you get any Giacobazzi's?

Trace well done you and I think you should def tell of your great success I think it is nice to hear good news as well as problems or difficulties. Breastfeeding is a positive thing and anyone having troubles I think it helps to hear it going well.

Speaking of booby moon mook as ds1 calls it, I am still working on getting Ds2's latch a bit wider so still sore nips and he wasn't draining my right boob very well. I don't want another breast abcess like last time so have been working hard to sort it out. Yesterday I noticed some redness and a painful area on my boob so up the amount of the homeopathic remedies and slapped to iceberg lettuce on (ds1 calls this boobie salad) and today it seems much improved redness and pain is gone and I am only getting a teeny bit of pain when he first latches so very happy about that. I was also starting to feel a bit fluey and that has gone too.

I had acupunture for carpel tunnel syndrome when preg with ds1 and it was a miracle how well it worked and I honestly didn't feel the needles they are so tiny.

Veggie I am at you watching the oppositions packages!!!

This is Aled Jones and he is famous for singing [[http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=aR1Ln-ctn5E this

kayzr · 22/12/2008 17:56

Well that worked!!!

He sang this

VersOComeAllYeFaithful · 22/12/2008 17:58

Alan Rickman! Ooh yes, sirree!

kayzr bit of a pain they expect you to go back to the clinic - it's a real faff isn't it? You'd think since it's them that want to weigh yet again they would have the decency to bring some portable scales and do it in your house!

sparkling I don't want to ignore your post but have to say I won't be much use as I'm sleep-deprived and it's quite complicated. I am sure if you post in the main pregnancy bit you'll get a reply sooner or later.

Well, am going out singing shortly... feel a bit bad doing something for 'me' but hey...
