very emotional this afternoon just burst into tears at the GOSH ad. DH has gone to pick up ds looking forward to cuddle from him.

zoejeanne · 10/12/2008 15:43

Beans ? you all look so happy together, well done to the family Beans!

Trace ? sorry to hear nothing has happened yet, I hope a good rest this afternoon has made you feel better. And at least you still get your pizza tea this week!

Poor little girl arti ? it?s one thing after another for her. But hopefully she?ll be all better in time to enjoy Christmas and the new baby.

Hotel chocolat ? mmm. Somehow I?ve got myself on their mailing list and I nearly drown in drool everytime something arrives from them

I am very pleased to announce that I have finished my Christmas shopping ? hurrah! I am celebrating with a cup of raspberry leaf tea and some chocolate (Thorntons) and MN as I?m shattered but happy. (bisou ? I like the RLT, so am a bit annoyed about the heartburn. Latest ploy is to follow every cup with a cup of peppermint tea, which seems to soothe it)

traceface · 10/12/2008 16:18

have had a little sleep and have had an extremely hyper dd returned to me to put an abrupt end to my rest! Still got a very painful tum but less regular 'tightenings' so I guess it's all going away. Feel like an old lady though because I can't stand up straight without my tummy being really sore.Think I may have had a show because there was a blobbyish red/brown heap of ming on my post-wipe tissue (TMI sorry) but I guess that might also be just post-sweep stuff. Feel like I know NOTHING ABOUT ANYTHING that is happening to me and am finding it all a bit frightening. Also feel quite sick but that's probably tiredness and the fact that I can't stop thinking about how I'm feeling. I need a distraction.

traceface · 10/12/2008 16:18

arti - how is your daughter?

EffiePerine · 10/12/2008 17:03

Trace: sounds like it's all moving in the right direction, if it=f it't taking a bit longer than you would like . Hope you can get some rest and remember to eat and drink regularly.

Turnip: glad you got your hair done. V important.

LadyT: loling at your MW and the MIL comments

Congratulations on the new babies and hello again to Hiccy and Pingu

Sorry have not caught up with everyone, finding it hard to remember anything I've read! Last day at work was great, buck's fizz, cake and some Gap vouchers so will have to hit the sales for baby clothes when I feel up to it . Met up with a friend today which was lovely. scary to think 'the next time I see X I'll have a new baby!'

EffiePerine · 10/12/2008 17:04

oops random apostrophes and all sorts there

EffiePerine · 10/12/2008 17:05

JamInMyWellies · 10/12/2008 17:29

Still nothing hqppening my end am now 40+1 took DS to his swimming lesson this arvo hoping that might kick somehting off but no luck all that happened was I went via tesco and bought a bag of cookies now all consummed will have to hide the wrapping from DP.

I know what you mean re buying booze. I had to pick up some cider and a cheapo bt of red plonk for something I was cooking and the cashier looked at me most strangely I ended up telling DS very loudly now we have this we can go home and make our casseroles as if he gave two flying hoots.

Now when it comes to shampoo we had a bottle of pink Laurent Perrier when DS was born i suspect we will have the same if this one ever decides to make an appearance.

Arti how is you DD?

Abby I would call your MW seeing as you are meant to be c-sec.

Veggie maybe the time is near I remember being very emotionally outbursty when I went into labour with DS.

I know I am really bad and missed masses of people but I am thinking about all of you and wishing everyone happy days.

kayzisexpecting · 10/12/2008 17:45

I feel awful, got a pretty bad headache.

MW rang earlier to tell me to ring her mobile tonight if I go into labour and she'll ring the other mw. Then she is on duty Thurs, Fri and Sat so she is hoping she will get to deliver BabyKayz.

Abby I also think you should give your MW a ring. Just to be on the safe side.

Hope everyone is feeling ok today. Arti I hope your DD feels better soon.

artichokes · 10/12/2008 17:49

Just back from the doctors. DD has yet another course of antibiotics for her tonsills. She is now lying on teh sofa under a duvet watching Peppa Pig. I have to say it is quite easy looking after them when they are feverish. They lie so still!

Sooooo, how hot does a curry need to be to have an effect? I am going to order a take-out tonight in teh hope the old wives' tale is correct. I usually get Lamb Rogan Josh but douse it in yoghurt. Do I need to be braver?

reban · 10/12/2008 18:19

in my experience as spicy as you can comfortably manage .. but it is one of those things that you never really know if it worked or not .. i had chinese the night before both dd1 and ds1, also sex and hot bath (not all at the same time obviously!) and went into labour over night both times, didnt bother with ds2 and he still arived quite promptly. i also know people who have tried the works and nothing happened got to worth a shot though .. at the very least you will have a nice meal!

abbymeg · 10/12/2008 18:23

Arti I hope your DD starts to feel better soon.

Kayz, Veggie and Jam thanks for replying. They've stopped now. But, having read what you've all said, if they come back I will ring up straight away. They've been getting progressively worse for 3 weeks (when I was monitored two weeks ago, BHs were there every 5 minutes or so, but not as intense as now, and MW said that they are one of those things). My main worry was the increasing pain and the shortness of breath. I'm amazed that they've totally stopped at the moment, I'm so used to them. Typical!

Beans33 · 10/12/2008 18:27

Hi all

Hope everyone doing ok. I had a bit of a shocker today - breastfeeding away. Izzy is a great little feeder. BUT my nipples are killing me and when she detatched herself and I went to fix her back on, she had dribbled some milk down her cheek and there was blood in it! From my nipple, thankfully - not her. BUT it was bloody awful and scary. I rang Cow & Gate and they told me that apparently it doesn't do the baby any harm - thank GOD. I was so worried that I'd poisoned her. I'm avoiding left boob a bit now, but milk has just come in, so am going to have to use it to avoid mastitis. Bloody hell. Tried hand expressing, but not that much came out.

Has anyone got any advice pleeeeease?

Thanks all.

xx

Turniphead1 · 10/12/2008 18:29

arti so sorry your DD is on antibiotics again and has a really sore throat. My two have just finished watching Peppa Pig. I really like it too [how sad am I emoticon]. Hope she gets better soon. You may need to go hotter than a Rogan Josh I am afraid...

Kayz poor you. Hope the headache goes and tha you have a chance to use those mobile numbers!!

veggie sorry you are feeling emotional. Really hope you perk up but as someone says - could be a sign

jam hope something kicks off for you.

Abby as others say, give them a ring just in case. Have tried to resend that file to your other email.

bisou that chociie shop looks fab....mmmm and I am more a savoury gal. Cheese is my downfall..Hope you are well.
We got the price on the airbag finalised and it was now up to £520!!! So Dh and I have decided we will have to manage without it. Just too much money.

I vote Jump's title for the next thread. Am happy to start it if you are asleep Bisou.

Trace try not to be downhearted my love. It's all good. Either way, show or postswseep could well be baby thinking of coming. You are doing a great job! Can you rent a movie you really want to see or some other treat for tonight to take your mind off things?

Hiccy thats so lovely about the discount on your baby champagne. I must remember to pack some!

ZJ well done for finishing your shopping. I love Thorntons too. I ate an entire box of the milk choc Leiniz (spelling) biccies today. In one sitting. Maybe they contain crack???

My piles have returned so I now don't want to go into labour til I get them sorted. ouch!

EffiePerine · 10/12/2008 18:30

Beans: from Kellymom (mythis about bfing)

  1. A mother who bleeds from her nipples should not breastfeed.

Not true! Though blood makes the baby spit up more, and the blood may even show up in his bowel movements, this is not a reason to stop breastfeeding the baby. Nipples that are painful and bleeding are not worse than nipples that are painful and not bleeding. It is the pain the mother is having that is the problem. This nipple pain can often be helped considerably. Get help. (Handout #3 Sore Nipples and #3b Treatments for Sore Nipples and Sore Breasts). Sometimes mothers have bleeding from the nipples that is obviously coming from inside the breast and is not usually associated with pain. This often occurs in the first few days after birth and settles within a few days. The mother should not stop breastfeeding for this. If bleeding does not stop soon, the source of the problem needs to be investigated, but the mother should keep breastfeeding.

EffiePerine · 10/12/2008 18:33

and more on healing nipples here:

Turniphead1 · 10/12/2008 18:33

Beans post on breastfeeding for Tik Tok. I am not sure that you should stop feeding on that side. But you shouldn't be bleeding I think you need someone to look at your latch so your nipple is far enough down back of DD's throat (but don't know enough to advise you). Poor you - hope all gets better.

My DD vomitted blood on Day3 and I didn't make the connection between that and sore nipples and we ended up in A&E for 5 hours while they tested her for a bloodclotting disorder. Daft paed registrar of course didn't think about bleeding nipples...had I rung a m/w or BF counsellor they would have know of course.

Beans33 · 10/12/2008 18:34

Thanks so so much, Effie - that really helps! Feeling better! Will speak to dr as well tomorrow as she has an appointment for eye gunk!
