snorris · 09/12/2008 10:28

Hello all!

I can now reveal the littlest snorris is called Lucy Grace .

traceface · 09/12/2008 10:32

Aw! Gorgeous names - I am of course biased snorris as my dd1 is a Lucy...watch out...Lucys can be mischievous!

kayzisexpecting · 09/12/2008 10:33

That is a lovely name Snorris

I am so tempted to get my MW to do a sweep on Thursday if he isn't here by then.

SummerLightning · 09/12/2008 10:51

morning everyone, bumbling around this morning before work christmas lunch. I love bumbling.

trace pretty sure Ceph has been in my notes and means head down. Maybe the 4 means 4/5 engaged?
I would probably normally guess mutips short for multiparas meaning not first baby, but that would seem and odd thing to write as should be obvious, so perhaps not.

EffiePerine · 09/12/2008 10:57

Trace: I think os cephalic is head down and right way round . I'd give the ward a ring if you're worried about the bleeding.

Indith · 09/12/2008 11:03

Hello!

Ds is a 'mare, I am shattered and need to go back to bed.

Congrats on all the babies Hope all the new mums are enjoying a nice babymoon, relaxing on the sofa with their norks out (if applicable) and generally reminding themselves that they are amazing whatever happens with feeding, sleeping and anything else.

Oli fingers crossed for CP immunity. Tis my worst nightmare as I've never had it.

Can I ask a question of all those with toddlers? Ds is so amazingly unsettled. He is fine during the day, apart from yelling at me a bit due to mutual frustration at my not being able to do all the things he wants to, not really being able to go on long walks etc. At night though he is impossible. He wakes up and starts crying, often several times a night. He won't be comforted in his cot. He won't be comforted in our bed (which is what we have always done in the past, wake up, come to bed and we all fall asleep again). He gets more and more distressed until he is just one tightly wound mess of a child gulping in air through great big sobs. He gets so tense that he is shaking, arms crooked, legs drawn up. Sometimes going downstairs to watch tv snaps him out of it but he still takes ages to relax again. Otherwise just walking around the house trying to cuddle him. Thing is he wakes up as though he is mid tantrum or something, one of the wakings last night he was already in our bed, I reached out to soothe him and he was already all tensed up and shaking then he started throwing himself around the bed and roaring (anger? pain?) and screaming.

I keep being told that it is him picking up on the new baby, my anxiety etc but I'm just at a loss as until he has finally cried himself out he won't accept any comfort, he hits us and shoves our hands away. Is this toddler anxiety at what is coming? I just don't know how to give a screaming bundle of flailing limbs comfort and reassurance when I can't even hold onto him as he is hurling himslef around. But what the hell is it if it is something else that is the underlying reason?

traceface · 09/12/2008 11:06

Indith - I've heard of them having 'night terrors' which are like very real nightmares and they can be very very scary for child and parent...wonder if this is happening? I don't know much about it but there's probably a MN thread on it. Perhaps worth a read - I might be way off. How old is he?

Veggiemummy · 09/12/2008 11:12

Kayz you don't need to do anything by the 22nd I think Jam has organized for monitoring if she is overdue but that's all you need to do. I don't like your consultant 22nd is only 10days anyway.

DS has been a bit funny lately, I wouldn't say badly dehaved just a bit cheeky and not his usual sweet self. This morning he wouldn't hug me and started getting a bit ready. I asked him what was wrong he said he didn't know. We asked him if he worried about sharing mummy and daddybwhen the baby came and said yes and then just cried and cried. Poor little man he has been so excited about his brother and really helpful with me. I think just lately it is all starting to dawn on him that everything is about to change in his little world. I love him so much he is such a great little bloke. Right I'm off out to take him to the park to ride his bike.

Indith · 09/12/2008 11:22

Oh bless him veggie. Trouble is ds is a pretty late talker and nowhere near able to express himself like that.

Ds will be 2 in January trace.

I don't think it is night terrors, at least we had a phase of what I think were those a while back, with terrors they don't really wake up so they are screaming at you but still asleep so they don't realise the comfort is there. He is wide awake when he is screaming!

abbymeg · 09/12/2008 11:25

Congratulations to Snorris and Penny!

Olli I hope everything is okay with the chicken pox, it's the last thing you need in terms of the worry just before you have your baby.

Trace I hope the sweep works. I was offered one with DD, but I wouldn't have it because I'd been waiting for an hour to see the consultant and when he offered I was busting for the loo and was really frightened I'd wee on his hand! In hindsight, should have probably told him and had it, especially when I ended up waiting another two weeks at the height of summer.

I've been having increasingly strong, regular and painful BHs for over a week now, but NOTHING.

I went for my pre-op yesterday and the MW was amazed that I had to wait a week for CS, as they usually do pre-ops a couple of days before. She told me that all the ladies in the waiting room would be in within the week. I tried to persuade her that they could bring me in early, but to no avail.

5 and a bit long, long, long days to go.

traceface · 09/12/2008 12:26

so here's my confession...I've never tried G+B chocolate! In fact I'd not heard of it before MN! I take it I'm missing something very special?!

Just had a kind of tightening BH/ period pain ouch moment but it might just be my hormones responding to the lurvely Philip Schofield on TV!!! I used to have posters of him on my ceiling and the crush has never really gone away...same with Shakin' Stevens!!

Veggiemummy · 09/12/2008 12:32

indith I actually wrote that post before I read yours I think our DS's are probably going through similar emotions but my DS was 3 in august and able to express himself. He would not have been able express or understand these emotions at 2. It has literally only Bern the last couple of months that he will say 'I'm angry' or 'I'm sad'. You could try saying to him I think you are angry or sad just to say the emotion so he at least has a word though he may not understand it. It has just been the last week that DS has changed and this morning is the first time he had expressed it. I don't know what else to do. We are going to have a present for him and get him involved buy really it is easier for us as he is older. Maybe you could post a question on MN about it.

EffiePerine · 09/12/2008 12:34

Indith: could it be teeth? DS has been grumpy and waking up for a while, then I noticed several molars had come through. If he's distressed at night I always try a bit of Calpol first off in case it's pain, then take him in bed with us.

artichokes · 09/12/2008 12:35

Hello

Ollie - What a horrible scare. I hope your tests show you have immunity.

LadyT - Congrats on O regaining her birth weight. Sorry your scar is still giving you gip.

Trace - I have had two sweeps now. The doctor said not to worry about brown blood in goo (TMI) but to call if I get fresh, goo-less bleeding.

Effie - Yay to this being your last day at work. Enjoy!

Snorris - Congratulations. Lovely names.

Poisondwarf - You already know how much I love the name Nina (I still can't take it off my list despite my friend). The weird thing is that Camille is on our shortlist too and we even discussed "Nina Camille"! How odd is that considering they are not that common names?

Veggie and Indith - DD is 2.3 and also unsettled. She isn't eating properly which is not like her and she constantly wants cuddles. She is also throwing lots of tantrums when she can't get her own way. I think it is her reaction to feeling our of control. Also I have a short fuse at the moment and have shouted a couple of times which I think has scared her . Its so hard with toddlers, you can't be sure what they understand or what they need.

Well I am back from my 40 week appt (although I am 40 weeks tomorrow). I had another sweep. I am 2cm dilated, with a 1cm long cervix (half the length of last week) but baby's head is still quite high (engaged but high). In case nothing happens I am booked in for an induction on 20/12. If it were any other time of year I would argue for longer than that but if I battle for 4 more days I will end up being induced on chrstmas eve and will miss christmas with DD1, while DD2 will forever be lumbered with a really shite birthday.

Veggiemummy · 09/12/2008 12:36

indith your ds is def not a late talker if he us only 2 in jan

Trace it's organic so it's good for you in fact I think it might be included as one of the 5 a day.

traceface · 09/12/2008 12:40

I was wondering whether banoffee pie counts as one of your 5-a-day?

traceface · 09/12/2008 12:41

or Terry's chocolate orange?

Veggiemummy · 09/12/2008 12:50

oh definately it had banana in it. Right I'm off to yoga could be my last class

kayzisexpecting · 09/12/2008 12:59

I am not too bothered about being induced on the 22nd. Its 10 days after my due date and I refuse to be pg on Xmas day or in labour.

Guess what this idiot has done!!!!

I went to make myself some lunch and I turned the wrong hob ring on. I have completely melted the plastic trays we have. The house stinks of melted plastic and I generally feel like I could have caused a huge accident.

Feel free to point and laugh.

daisydora · 09/12/2008 13:13

indith dd is 2.4, have just have massive wrestling match with her trying to get her upstairs for a nap (she is exhausted). Which is not a good idea 2 weeks after my cs. Anyway she isn't having a nap and is now back downstairs watching cbeebies (I am so weak). This has been going on for about a month now. I think now DS is here she is terrified of missing anything but her behaviour in general has gone down hill of late, full on feet stamping & screaming is a regular thing! I keep saying it will pass...[hmm}

kayz you have me sympathies re: pregnancy brain...mine has yet to return to 'normal' so no sniggers here

Bisou · 09/12/2008 14:18

Hi y'all. And congrats penny & snorris !

Veggie lol at the idea of making timtams or kingstons - if anyone could do it, you could! I am often envious of your cooking efforts. We'll do a swap one day of services And I may not have any G&B in my pantry at the moment... but I am consoling myself with mint slice biscuits, kingstons & monte carlos. mmmm!

WG really hope you're feeling better asap, glad to hear the cold is easing off - must be frustrating for you about the cold sore though.

PD and JJ your pics/vids are just wonderful! I show them to my DH and his face lights up when he sees all the tiny babies!

Turniphead no action here baby wise despite the sewing mania. Had another crazy day today shopping for all the remaining stuff we need for the baby. Lots of BH but nothing painful - I'm sure I'm going to still be here waiting at Christmas time!

Speaking of which, kayz do you think that's why your consultant wants to induce you by the 22nd? I think those of us who would normally be 2 weeks over at Christmas might be offered early induction as they won't want to do it Christmas eve/day/boxing day because of staffing issues. I'm torn as I think I'd prefer to wait until after Christmas to be induced, but I don't know if I can get proper monitoring over the holiday period? I will have to check this at my MW appt on Thurs, but I'm trying not to focus on it too much as babybisou may just surprise me by coming on time or just a wee bit late...

Oli fingers crossed you get the all clear on CP immunity. I think if you've had it before then chances are good you are immune, so hope all works out. I'm surprised it takes so long for the results to get back though, surely they can speed it up a bit?

reban hope the S&S goes ok today.

babblington nice to hear from you!

OK well I'm super jealous about you all eating green & blacks choc. They do have it here but only in a couple of flavours, and the butterscotch & white are my fav ones! They actually have a UK sweeties shop somewhere in Sydney though (it's where DH got the vegetarian suet for our Xmas pud), so I'll have to send him back there on a mission. LMAO at it being a '5 a day' along with Terry's choc orange & banoffee pie. You'll have to get some G&B's now trace now that you know how good it is for you!

LadyT hope those new antibiotics kick in soon and help yr CS cut heal up good & quick. To answer the sewing question - I like the actual sewing bit, but detest the cutting/measuring. And I did use some creative vocab at the overlocker when I couldn't get the tension right! But it's nice to see the finished results in the end.

verso yay for DD! What a little star

And Turnip my DH has lovely curly hair too, (I sometimes tell him I only married him so I could sire his blue-eyed curly haired cherubs! hehe) Knowing my luck baby bisou will get stuck with my hair type/eye colour. I know I'll love him just as much though, and am reminded of this every time you happy mummies who have popped already gush about your beautiful new LO's! Ahhh I so can't wait to meet mine.

PinguRocks · 09/12/2008 14:20

Hello lovely ladies

I have been away from the computer for a week and you lot have been so chatty that I don't think I stand any chance of ever catching up!

Congratulations on all the new arrivals. All your news is making me more than a little impatient for babypingu to finally put in an appearance.....

I'm hoping that after I finish work on Friday I may have a better chance of keeping up, but I am not so sure at the pace this thread goes!

Massive congratulations to beans penny and snorris! Interesting to see that there are no babies arriving on their due date yet...

Oli - we had a bit of a CP scare last time round as DH got shingles and my mum couldn't remember whether I had had chicken pox or not...Should be unlikely that you don't have the immunity, but I'm sure it feels like a long wait till Friday.

Kayz - I spend every day expecting to do something really stupid, so you have all my sympathy and no sniggers from me on the hob! Sorry to hear about your rubbish doctor experience - its so annoying, because so much depends on who you happen to see.

Love the pictures of all the little ones - they are gorgeous!
