Here's a new link for us all - think it needed doing asap as running out of space!!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Alas Veggie its true. Despite the fact that it was an expensive car it does not have the facility to just turn the bleedin thing off. Had we bought the entry level hatchback from the same manufacturer it comes with the button! I have made this point at the garage believe me . Apparently its BECAUSE it's such a complex car with all sorts of electronic wizardry (which all needs to be reset and the seat belt replaced) that the cost is so high (combined with the fact that as an authorised service garage it takes the complete p*ss in terms of hourly rates for labour). Grrrr - makes me cross.

traceface · 10/12/2008 05:43

morning!
Still no idea what's happening with my body! Was getting regular tightenings last night - every 5 mins which weren't painful as such but were not comfortable either. Had a bath which made me a bit more comfy but is started up again when I got out. Carried on like that till 2am at which point I must have dozed off. Woke just after 4am and am now having the same, but only every 8ish minutes, but a bit more painful! Am starving so have troughed a banana and am going to try a cuppa! Will keep you posted. Today was my lie in day as dd slept at my in-laws - so much for catching up on sleep! She's being dropped back off here this afternoon so I hope my body makes its mind up by then about what it's doing!!!
Hope you have all slept well in spite of bumps, bladders and babies!

traceface · 10/12/2008 06:05

ouch. every 6 mins ish. but still not convinced this isn't wind. Still don't think it's painful enough. Even sometimes feels like baby movements too...do they carry on moving during labour/ contractions?
Am loving contractionmaster.com - failing to remember the times in my sleepy stupor so the website is doing it for me! Although they're probably not even contractions. Maybe I should search google for wind-master.com!

Turniphead1 · 10/12/2008 06:31

Morning Trace - sounds like we have had a very similar night! Like you, I am not sure if it is wind or whatever - but something was going on all night. I am getting my hair cut and coloured at 10 - after that, happy for the baby to come (but in my case am sure it is all false alarm).

Hope for you something starts happening!

Off to check out contraction master!

OrangeCrush · 10/12/2008 07:32

Oooh Trace, that sounds so promising. How are you feeling now?

I've had nothing like that, although a bit windy after eating a curry on MW's orders (it was either that or vigourous sex, and after she'd finished fettling about up there, sex was definitely the last thing on my mind last night!!)

WG - I think different MWs have different ideas about when to do sweeps. I suspect that because I live in a rural area and we only get a clinic once a week, they offer you a sweep at your 40wk appt in the hope that they won't be seeing you again! I am booked in for another next week, and to be induced on the 19th if nothing has happened by then. I REALLY want to avoid being put on the induction conveyor belt so didn't really mind that I was being hurried along a bit, but with hindsight think maybe I would have declined until I was more overdue than 40.2?

Also have sneeky suspicion that as 30+ local births due in december (no idea what was going on here last March!) they might be trying to get as many through before Christmas as possible. Or maybe I am just cinical

Olipop · 10/12/2008 07:38

Ohhh Trace and Turnip...sounds like things must be moving along! Fingers crossed for you both!

Congratulations to Allie and Modernlove.

I've had a call from the midwife who has said that the results for my Chicken Pox immunity will be available Thurs afternoon so that is a bit better. My poor mum was so upset. She was with me when the midwife came round and I didn't realise how much it had affected her. She left a message on my voicemail in floods of tears yesterday (and she's not a teary lady) but she was ringing to say that she had rung the doctors for another opinion and they had said that the chances of losing immunity was negligable. Of course I was getting mixed messages as it was good news delivered as if it was the worst news!!!!! Poor old mum!

I spoke to Rosmerta yesterday and she is still hanging on in there but has a rotten chest infection so is hoping babyros is a bit later. I think she said she had her induction booked a week Friday.

My DS (almost 3) has been a devil child too! He normally has the odd strop but we had 3 full blown tantrums yesterday. I think they pick up on all the changes and excitement (not just of the baby but of Christmas too). No advice really, I alternate between being able to totally ignore it in an oasis of calm to getting a bit cross (I always feel better if I've managed to calm it out!).

On the chocolate front, Terrys Chocolate Orange has been my downfall. DH actually bought 3 different ones and I made the mistake of taking them all out of the boxes and putting them in the door of the fridge which means any time I get near I HAVE to eat a few bits!!!

Olipop · 10/12/2008 07:43

Oh and on the dur pregnancy moments, I had call last night from a friend who said ...I'm guessing you have forgotten we're all supposed to be coming round for dinner on Sunday (by all, I am talking 8 adults and 7 kids) . She had been talking to the other two girls who confirmed that at some point I had invited them (of which I have NO recollection) but has kindly decamped the entire gathering to her house. She is loving it because I am usually really organised so she is revelling in the fact that my brain has gone to mush! Can you imagine if they had all turned up! We'd have been sending out for takeaway! Although, we'd have probably not been in! Doesn't bear thinking about!!!!

abbymeg · 10/12/2008 07:47

I've been having loads of BH; no regular pattern, and lots on an evening. They are getting rather uncomfy, however, in an interesting new development they are making it feel difficult to breathe because they're so tight and baby is still high. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I do something about it?

Roll on Monday so these things are no longer an issue!

Thanks

Huge congratulations to Allie and Modern.

kayzisexpecting · 10/12/2008 08:02

Morning,

Congratulations Modern!! Oli I had to have a little giggle at that. Its totally something I would do too.

Terry's Chocolate Oranges are food of the devil. Once I open one I have to eat it all, I can not save any for another time at all.

I think I might have leaked a little fluid but I'm not to sure. It was quite damp this morning but I'm not sure if it was just discharge.

traceface · 10/12/2008 08:13

well I've rung the unit and they want me to go in...previous section/ previous eclampsia/ group B strep etc...taking no chances blah blah... but I'll not doubt be back on here in a few hours highly embarrassed at having been admitted with wind pain!!!

Turniphead1 · 10/12/2008 08:20

Oooh Trace exciting!!!! I think it is it for you. At least there they will know for sure. Best of luck!

Oli your poor Mum - hope you both get the result you need tomorrow. Will be thinking of you.

Can't decide if I have gut pain or early labour?! You'd think I could distinguish third time around....

kayzisexpecting · 10/12/2008 08:34

Trace I hope it is happening for you and that it isn't wind.

I think DS has been reading this thread. This morning he has run rings around me. Its taken me half an hour to change his nappy and put him in a vest. Lots of screaming, shouting and kicking me just because I wanted to change him. I've just left him in a vest for now as I don't have the energy to struggle to get his trousers and jumper on. Its not cold in the front room so he'll survive.

abbymeg · 10/12/2008 08:46

Good luck trace !

LadyThompson · 10/12/2008 09:07

Good luck Trace, if you are on! Turnip, hope you manage to keep the hair appointment and that it's all systems go after it (cos then you will be able to enjoy Christmas).

Abby, not sure I ever experienced a BH, but I did have a high baby and she gave me shortness of breath. Mind you, so did the anaemia: have your haemaglobin levels been checked recently?

Oli, really hoping you get the best news tomorrow but I can't share your love of the dreaded Chocolate Oranges. Because (feel free to throw virtual shoes at me) I.don't.really.like.chocolate. I can eat a little bit once in a while - say, a bite or a chocolate from a box once in a blue moon. But if I never had it again I wouldn't care so it is wasted on me. I have many many other vices to make up for it though, so no one need worry

I thought I was organised for Christmas and now I realise it is creeping up on us (well, hardly creeping) and I am not so organised as I thought. I have got tons of thank you letters to write as well as all my Christmas cards. Silly the things that stress you sometimes.

My scar is getting better I think. I don't really want to take the two strong antibiotics that my consultant has posted me a prescription for now, as they mean no booze and a strong likelihood of thrush. Anyone going through the late stages of pregnancy/recovery from the birth will know that if there's one thing you don't need, it's ANOTHER tiresome ailment. And frankly a yucky dose of thrush and no champagne will really cramp my style

DP's Mum and her new husband are coming to visit today. What a surprise that they are somewhat of a PITA. She had a row with DP last week so the atmos is already a bit frosty. She used to be a midwife in the Jurassic Era so she is full of judgemental, clapped out advice and calls me dear a lot. But I can't be mean as they are meeting my DD for the first time. But watch this space...Have a lovely day, girls.

JamInMyWellies · 10/12/2008 09:22

Good luck Trace.

Nolda · 10/12/2008 09:24

Congratulations Alliebongo and Modernlove. And good luck with the breastfeeding Modernlove I hope you can get the help you need now. I had problems with DD when she was born I think due to lack of time together as she was in intensive care and then high dependency to start with. There was one nurse in HD who said that DD would be fine I just needed to feed her. Hello, what did she think I was trying to do. Anyway, just wanted to say that all resolved itself and I breastfed her until she was one.

I've got a sweep booked for tomorrow. Am I insane to contemplate walking home from the hospital afterwards (15 mins) or should I organise a lift/take the bus?

Verso · 10/12/2008 09:25

My DH got me 3 x choc oranges too - I'm only really a fan of the plain ones but I'm not complaining . We also got some half-pricw

Off to Bluewater today - some Christmas bits to do and I was hoping to visit Rigby & Peller for a fitting. I measured myself the other day and bought 2 feeding bras accordingly but they fit very weirdly. Time to bring in the pros!!

Night was good until 2am when DD2 fed until 5.30am . I guess she has taken the weight gain challenge to heart!

Good luck trace and turnip! and big congratulations to allie and modernlove. modernlove my DD1 ended up being forceps and I found the experience quite upsetting. Feel free to CAT/email me if you want to talk about it - same goes for anyone with similar births or tears/stitches etc.

Verso · 10/12/2008 09:26

half price Lanson... was what I meant to post - but we're saving it for Christmas

artichokes · 10/12/2008 09:30

Good luck Trace! And good luck Turnip too, I bet its not wind.

Have fun with the MiL LadyT, make sure you offer her a cup of tea in the slut mug.

All quiet here. Went to bed early with the pains and back ache and they all disappeared overnight. I think they were caused by the long fast walk. Today is my due date. COME ON BABY!!!!! DD is ill AGAIN. Living with a two year old is like living in a laboratory full of germ generating experiments. I really do not want to get her new bug so baby needs to come out before it hits.

artichokes · 10/12/2008 09:32

I meant to add that weirdly I am not a chocolate fan either . I am partial to the occassional dark choclate digestive dipped in tea but other than that I rarely crave chocolate. Give me a tiramisu anyday (its the only desert I obsess about).

OrangeCrush · 10/12/2008 09:38

Nolda I think you will be fine to walk waddle home from your sweep. Although I found the sweep itself painful, no lasting effects apart from the bleeding (sorry if TMI but I would take a panty liner with you!)

Might look a bit like a cowboy too but might also do some good? I'm off for another long walk up the biggest hill I can manage to see if I can get things moving before my next sweep...followed by a whole pineapple and some more RLT

artichokes · 10/12/2008 09:42

Nolda - I think a walk after a sweep is a good dies if you want to get things moving.

For those that were asking why some of us are having sweeps before our due date, I am the aame as Trace. Last time I had pre-eclampsia and therefore they want this baby out as soon as possible as pre-e can strike at any time especially as your placenta starts to deteriorate with age. I ahve to say I did not mind my sweeps. They are uncomfortable but mine were not messy and they were very quick.

artichokes · 10/12/2008 09:42

"good idea" not "dies".

Turniphead1 · 10/12/2008 09:43

Verso your post about the Lanson champagne made me think of Lansinoh nipple cream...what a combo. Enjoy Bluewater.

Good luck to those being "swept" today. Arti hope your DD gets well and your baby gets moving.

Think it was all a false alarm. Off to have hair done!!

ladyT your dp's Mum sounds like a joy. Let us know what she comes out with!

kayzisexpecting · 10/12/2008 10:01

Just got a text from my best friend who is collecting my xmas cards from work.
One of them is addressed to me, dh, ds and 'Toby'. We did consider this as a name and said to a few people that we were thinking of it but we weren't sure.

What if he ends up being a she????
