We used to cut a branch off our big tree outside. In London we had a pretend one but we did get a proper one one year by the 1st. I thought it was a tradition back home mainly because everyone i knew did it. Put it up on the 1st & take it down on the 31st. We might put soe of our snowy window lights up and the holly wreath. DH didnt do christmas when he was a kids so he is always a bit confused about what it entails and just leaves it to me. It will nice to have DS more involved this year now he is 3.

Beans33 · 01/12/2008 15:02

Crikey, Effie - that's quick! Would be great to have a labour like that. Unfortunately my Mum did 57 hours with first sister and then had to have an EmCS, then my sisters both did 40 hours + and one ended in EmCS, so think I could be in for the long haul!

oh - meant to ask earlier...does anyone else get kind of hot flushes? Most evenings my cheeks (facial variety!) start to glow and burn for a while then calm down again.

Beans33 · 01/12/2008 15:05

Hee hee trace! I don't really get hot flushes, no. But I have done a few times. It's strange how the last couple of weeks of pregnancy seem like longer than the rest of the pregnancy put together!

Ooh oh news everyone! Just had a text from chutney:

"Our beautiful baby boy was born this am by planned section at 11.41am. He weighs 8lbs 6oz and has a light dusting of blonde hair. I am fine but a bit tired. Name nearly sorted out but just finalising so will let u know. Much love from us all Xx"

Congratulations chutney - fantastic news! Hope the wee one is doing well & you're up on your feet soon.

Beans33 · 01/12/2008 15:09

Oh well done chutney! That's brilliant! I'm so happy for her. And so gagging to meet my baby too. So happy for everyone who's had their babies and so excited for us yet to meet ours.

I'm determined to enjoy the rest of my pregnancy as I'll miss the bump when it's gone! So much easier to look after it when it's inside too! (she says as a screaming child having a tantrum walks past the front door!!).

Veggiemummy · 01/12/2008 15:13

EffiePerine · 01/12/2008 15:20

Hooray for Chutney

traceface · 01/12/2008 15:23

yay well done chutney!!!

rosmerta · 01/12/2008 15:26

Congratulations chutney

effie I didn't read the rest of the posts on the other thread so apologies if someone already suggested this but re your dh, do you think he would be convinced if you could show him the evidence of being upright etc? This is the only thing that really gets through to my dh, otherwise he writes it off as just something I fancy doing! When we were talking about having a homebirth, showing him the websites with evidence & statistics did help convince him that it isn't more or less dangerous than going to hospital.

poisondwarf · 01/12/2008 15:29

Yes Effie my experience was similar in that I could still talk & stuff - I was phoning the hospital to say that contractions were 4 minutes apart, which they normally say is when you should go in, but they told me to hang on until they were 3 in every 10 minutes. At that point the contractions started to go all over the place, so I never got to 3 in 10 minutes. I now realise that was the transition phase, and I knew I had to get to the hospital then. I was 8cm dilated when they examined me and gave birth 2 hours 40 minutes after arriving. I don't think the being able to talk through contractions is necessarily a reliable indicator.

Beans I thought I would miss my bump last time - it just seemed unthinkable that I would suddenly not be pregnant after 9 months of it being the centre of my world. But it's weird - it just felt completely normal to not be pregnant (until I started to get broody again that is...)

emmanbump · 01/12/2008 15:35

Congratulations Chutney

zoejeanne · 01/12/2008 15:35

Ooh, a new thread ? well done Beans!

And our first baby on this thread too ? congratulations to chutney on her brand new son

I?ve just been and bought our Xmas tree, DH rang up and ordered me to meet him there ? so exciting! We don?t normally put our tree up til just before Xmas, but we thought this year we should prepare early or we may not get another chance! Will have get the box of decorations out now and sort through them

PS bisou I?d be honoured to be your deputy list maker when baby bisou arrives.

JamInMyWellies · 01/12/2008 15:36

Great thread title.

JamInMyWellies · 01/12/2008 15:44

congratulations Chutney.

Kerri1983 · 01/12/2008 15:59

Hi all, is anyone on this thread overdue from November??? x

kayzisexpecting · 01/12/2008 16:01

I am trying to do my xmas shopping but the Boots website isn't working!! Would like to order it today so it's all over and done with.

Do you think sitting on the birth ball will help him engage a bit more?

poisondwarf · 01/12/2008 16:29

Kerri just one but she doesn't post on here any more. Are you overdue from November yourself? If so, feel free to join in the fun.

Veggiemummy · 01/12/2008 16:44

just went to sainsburys to pick up yoghurts and some other treat for my poor little sick DS and found out he homebase next door to it has real christmas trees. i didnt buy one there and then as didnt have DH with me (didnt think i should be carrying with myself too much to carry already) so will take him over tomorrow to get one and hopefully DS will be feeling a bit better and will fancy helping out with decorations and making christmasy stuff.

also getting sick of shop people and other random public asking me if it's a christmas baby, if i have to have this massive bump another 25 days i think that is just a bit much.

Veggiemummy · 01/12/2008 16:46

oh and kerri come and play with us, were you due November?

Indith · 01/12/2008 16:59

Congrats Chutney

2 nights sleep makes a big difference AM quite cheerful now. Plus ds went to sleep after lunch and didn't wake up til 3.40 Trouble is I went to sleep too and though I got woken by the door and then MIL I went back to sleep and we slept through when we were supposed to go to a friend's to play

Trees already!? Ds had fun hunting for the pocket of his advent calendar that had a biscuit in today but trees are reserved for the weekend before Christmas in this house. Aldi made me happy today though by putting their Christmas biscuits and stuff out, yummy German spiced biscuits

How do you know if you are in labour? Bloody good question really. Erm, I think if you are doubting yourself probably not. All labours and all women are different, just go read a few birth stories on here and you can see that. I'm hoping the start of mine is different this time!

Kayz a watermelon sounds good

My mum keeps telling me that when you can't sit on the floor because of the head between your legs the baby is coming. Have tried telling her that ds didn't do that and that second ones are even less likely to fully engage before they arrive but she just keeps repeating herself bless her

I keep getting days of cramps and watermelon then the little blighter moves up again and starts fiddling with my ribs. Wish it would make its mind up.

Veggiemummy · 01/12/2008 17:18

oh Indith the Advent calender i almost forgot. Just got DS to find the number 1. lucky you posted. It is a Thomas the Tank engine advent calender so findnig the number 1 was a little tricky as thomas has a 1 on his side but he eventually worked it out. He has now found number 2 and wants to open that one now.

abbymeg · 01/12/2008 17:22

Massive congratulations Chutney .

I can't believe how quickly these threads are filling up. Maternity leave = MN and daytime telly! LOL at (I think it was) Beans and her addiction to diagnosis murder!

kayzisexpecting · 01/12/2008 17:23

Indith I am really hoping it will happen soon. DS only engaged 2 days before he was born so I am finding it all quite strange.
