Hello everyone

thought i'd start the new thread since i haven't posted on the last one in a couple of days.

I'm well although my patience/tolerance/ability to smile has completely gone out of the window. I don't seem to have any patience with DD (she really is suffering) or DH. i'm moody and sulky. the only thing that seems to calm me down is a nice bath at the end of the day.

Is it all pregnancy hormones and is anyone else feeling the same!?!?!

Nic2004dave, When I was pregnant with DS I never really felt kicks, more movements as the baby shifted position. At the moment I feel occasional flutterings, but again not kicks. I get some aches and pains as well, which I think are the ligaments stretching. For a first baby it may be 22 weeks before real movements are felt. It seems to depend a lot on the individual, though.

Congratulations on all the positive scans and mw appts !

Kate, thanks for the heads up on the Next jeans - my order is arriving in store Saturday so I'll see how it goes am hoping that they'll be ok as ordered a really nice pair of slouchy comfy looking jeans.

On a names front we really love Phoebe (with Grace as middle name) for a girl and Jacob (with Andrew as middle name) for a boy, still some debate over middle names but pretty much set on these two (anyone watching this thread that knows me in RL please keep under your hats - thanks).

Is anyone else measuring big for their dates? My dates are bang on according to scan etc but baby measuring up on the 90th centile on the "symphysis-Fundus height chart" in my notes. Dh is 6'5" and I'm around 5'10" so I guess it makes sense that baby wil be long at least?! Also, is anyone else getting really sore nipples - mine feel really grazed and are especially sore if I'm cold, was nearly in tears with it yesterday.

I like Evie or Edie Dh likes Rhiannon (wanted call both DS1 and 2 this before he knew they were boys). I'm not so sure reminds me of someone from school.

Everyone has some lovely name ideas. I don't have any great thoughts at the moment. I like Theo, but DH wasn't quite so keen. There again, his name suggestion was Ezekial - I like to think he was joking.

Don't worry Azure DS2 was called 'baby' until he was 6 weeks old and then we chose Kieran the evening before the deadline for registration .When we started using the name Kieran DS1 who was 3 at the time was quite put out and insisted that his name was 'baby'.
After watching the Incredibles recently Kieran has asked that I call him Dash until the baby comes!

Well scan went well, although baby was very uncooprative. It was laying on its tummy and squashed up low down in my tummy! I had to roll onto my left side, then my right then get up and go to the loo. (she suggested a walk but then remembered my imobility!) Anyway eventually she managed to see the 4 heart chambers and the umb.cord and all was well. Didn't ask the sex as i want a supprise. All measurements were above the 50th centile so could be another above average size babe.

Azure-not sure if any amount of pelvic floor exercises can save me as hard as I'm coughing.

Twiga-I had the same problem last pregnancy, I even put a heating pad on low on my nipples sometimes because they hurt so bad. Don't seem to have that problem this time, though.

KMS glad scan went well, despite the baby not making it easy.

Colinsmommy - it's so awful and old-lady like, isn't it?

Hi everyone, I was on the September thread but discovered after first scan baby is due on August 29th! It's our first....I'm definitely getting bigger, found Bloomin'Marvellous jeans (they are on web, few shops around UK) really comfy. Felt funny what I thought were muscular spasms a couple of days ago - just a few twitches, or could it be baby?!?!? I am nearly 19 weeks. Anyone else feeling absolutely knackered? I thought you were supposed to feel more lively after first trimester? All I want to do is read and have baths and eat! Just had all my blood tests, maybe I need more iron etc ? Anyway Happy Easter everyone, bye for now!

glad your scan went well kms.

I had a horrible turn at work today, i have been having problems with one wee bit of gum and i got a seed from my roll stuck there today and when it came out my month was instantly filled with blood, it resulted in me sitting with my head between my legs and tissues getting packed into my mouth, im so glad i have some nice work mates.

Im going to Aberdeen tomorrow so looking forward at looking through some other shops including mothercare, not however looking forward to the party we have to go to at night or the train with MIL,

Twiga are your wearing maternity bras yet? i noticed a difference wearing them they are so much softer

Glad that everyone's scans went well and that I wasn't the only one with an uncoperative baby.

Colinsmommy - you poor thing, you really do have my sympathy. Hope you feel better soon.

On the size thing, I always came up a bit smaller than i should have been with the tape measure and DS was massive. I've often wondered where he was hiding.I'm just right so far this time, just at my belly button.

On names, we like Benjamin something John for a boy, but can't think of another name to fill the gap. We liked Aimee for a girl but it doesn't look like we'll need it. Love Caitlin Elizabeth, but understand about the whole name association, also like Ian Nicholas. I liked the other spelling too, but my surname is an unusual spelling of a normal name and I always have to spell it

I'm glad everyone's scan has gone well.

I've got my scan tomorrow at 9.45am and i'm as nervous as hell. Really scared that they'll find a problem ....

DD is coming with us and we're going to find out the sex of the baby. Secretly hoping its a boy but will be relieved if its a girl. Although DD will be sorely disappointed. when asked if 'baby sis or baby bro?' its been brother all the time!!!

Hi rubyring, welcome to the August thread! I'm now due on 31st July but I'm staying put!

I went to antenatal aquarobics today - met four other pg people, which was lovely - so nice to talk babies with RL people! They were all really friendly so I was very pleased I went. Overdid it again though - decided to walk the mile back into town rather than get the bus, then went and did my supermarket shopping, and started to feel woozy and unwell - this time however I sat at the front of the bus and took my coat off before we set off so I didn't feel faint!

KMS - are you still suffering with spd? Mine seems to have settled down now (hence all the walking). Glad the scan went well in the end though!

Twiga - I find that padded bras rub less than ordinary ones - however I suppose that could depend on size!

Report
KMS · 24/03/2005 22:09

Miaow - great that your spd has settled down. Don't overdo it though and keep up the tips like knees together etc as this will help to stop it coming back as the baby gets bigger.
Mine is unfortunately getting progressively worse. Cant even walk the boys to school now. I see the physio again next week and will see what she says as I am in pain most of the time now.
Gp has now refered me to a vascular specialist, for the V.veins, as the stupid support stockings (holdups) keep falling down and bunching around my knees where the veins are the bad! (sexy image!!) Hope he/she can come up with a better alternative as the standard advise of regular exercise is out! am just supposed to sit around with my feet higher than my hips. Chance would be a fine thing with 3 children!

Good luck for tomorrow Blossom2.

Josey, Miaou, Colinsmommoy have been in maternity bras since about 7 weeks due to rapidly expanding chest - am now at a 36E, so padding probably isn't the best option - am thinking about getting a sleep bra from mothercare as finding the whole larger chest thing annoying in general. Feels like my chest precedes me by several paces just now and the sore nipples are just the icing on the cake! Will try the heat thing and see if that helps ease things.

Welcome Rubyring !

KMS glad your scan went well and {{{hugs}}} on the spd front. Miaou good to hear that yours is easing, long may it continue!

Blosom2 will be thinking about you tomorrow, hope all goes well.

Went shopping this morning for knitting patterns - been a while but thought it was time to get moving on something. Found a really nice blanket pattern and a hooded jumper patteern both look reasonably straight fwd. On a shop front - Josey if your in Aberdeen don't forget there's two Mothercares so if you don't find what you want in the town centre one they may have slightly different stuff at the one out at Berryden. Also Dorothy Perkins stocks mat stuff too - can't think of anywhere else.

had my scan and everything is well. Baby has big feet apparently at 4cm!!! Just like her older sister.

Disappointed is too strong a word but i was hoping for a boy (just because it would be nice to have one of each). although i am getting used to the idea now. its nice knowing i wont have to potty train a boy!!! Although DD is still insisting its going to be a boy and she WANTS/NEEDS a baby brother.

We quite like Charlotte (shortened to charlie) but who knows. But translating it to chinese is going to be difficult.

Good luck to everyone who still have scans to come!

Great news about the scan blossom, hope the your DD won't be too upset. you're right about the potty training, every time I mention it, my mum laughs at me and tells me another horror atory about my brother and how much easier it was with me.

KMS, I'm so sorry that things are so difficult for you right now. I hope that the specialists can help in some way.

I felt very frumpy today, so went shopping and bought some new clothes and now I feel much better. It's amazing what some retail therapy can do.

I also found out today that a friend who I haven't seen in ages is pregnant and due at the beginning of September. Our first babies are 3 weeks apart and now it looks as if our second ones will be close too. It also means I'll have a friend who's on maternity leave at the same time as me.

We're all off to the in-laws tomorrow, so happy easter everyone. Enjoy plenty of chocolate to pad out those bumps!!

Hi there. good news an the scans. blossomhill, sorry to hear you are disappointed, you'll just have to have another baby

Twiga - yes I've been getting sore nipples too which I'd not had as bad before. It was awful in the swimming pool th eother week, don't know if it was the chemicals or just the cold.

Lovely names here - we've not been discussing it as it was so hard the last 2 times and as we don't know the sex again it means finding another 2 names. We like longish sounding names that can't be shortened - very hard!

Feeling chuffed as I took both children to a big park yesterday (Storybook Glen - Twiga you will know it) and walked round for 4 1/2 hours. Felt v tired later but otherwise didn't suffer for it.

Thanks Twiga - i went to both mothercares but when we were in Union street i could get rid of MIL so refused to look at anything!! We went to Berryden the next day and got a few things we had a lot of vouchers for mothercare so they just had to be spent the one in Inverness must be due to open very soon though as they have started to advertise for staff, still dont know where it is supposed to be going, hopefully it will be a good size.

Congrats on having another girl blossom2 hope dd comes round to the idea sure she will.

Not all boys are bad to potty train, ds just one day asked to go to the toilet in the middle of a swimming pool of all strange places and that was that no more nappies.

Blossom2 I'm glad the scan went well. When I found out DS was a boy I was suprised (and rather ashamed of) how disappointed I felt. By the time he was born I couldn't imagine anything other than a boy. Looks like this baby is a boy too. Nic2004Dave - hope the scan goes well for tomorrow. It's a shame your DH is away so much - I hope he's going to be there for the birth!

We've had a relaxing long weekend at my parents, which is just as well as I've been feeling really under the weather - yet another cold, aches and dizzyness. Just 4 more days of work until we're off on holiday - down to southern Spain for 2 weeks. Can't wait. I hope everyone else has had a pleasant Easter.

Hi all, had a nice weekend at the in-laws, which was a pleasant surprise. We saw DH's best friend and his fiancee, who's die in 3 weeks and it made me even more excited about my new baby.

We did the garden today and I've definitely overdone it, I've got an achy back and legs and had braxton hicks that were very uncomfy. So I had a nice long bath and that made me feel much better. I've been very weepy today too, the littlest things have set me off, like getting the yorkshire puddings stuck in the tins!! Poor DH, all he wanted to do was paint the fence and got stuck with a hysterical me instead.

Can't remember who it was who was looking for a dress for a wedding, but I bought a lovely brown linen dress from Blooming Marvellous at the weekend and it's really lovely, would be perfect to wear to a wedding. I'll be dissappointed when I'm not pregnant and can't wear it anymore.
