Hello everyone

thought i'd start the new thread since i haven't posted on the last one in a couple of days.

I'm well although my patience/tolerance/ability to smile has completely gone out of the window. I don't seem to have any patience with DD (she really is suffering) or DH. i'm moody and sulky. the only thing that seems to calm me down is a nice bath at the end of the day.

Is it all pregnancy hormones and is anyone else feeling the same!?!?!

great news on everyones scans!

Mine was good- although again another uncooperative baby who was doing press ups...so we had an extra 15 mins trying to check out the heart!

As far as she could tell all was fine....but my dates (as given at the 12week scan) is a little early she thinks...so I am due when I thought I was!! (12.8.05)

We also found out we are expecting our second boy- and I have to say I thought that I'd be disappointed but I wasn't!

We have a name too! Keeping that secret tho...as I promised dh!

anyway....suffering from spd also but have found relief in form of reflexology so far

I have been thinking about that blooming marvellous dress too...glad to hear it is as lovely in rl as it looks in the catalogue.

anyway better go......

Twiga · 29/03/2005 11:09

leahbump, glad all was well at your scan.

All the best for your scan today nic2004dave, sorry to hear dh won't be able to go with you.

Azure · 29/03/2005 11:17

Leahbump, glad the scan went well. I told my nephew (7) I was pregnant and that it looks like a boy, and he rather sadly said he really wanted a brother. I pointed out that he had 2 sisters, but they didn't seem to compensate! I also went shopping in Blooming Marvellous over the weekend. I tried on a black dress and was very disappointed when it didn't suit me - I didn't see the nice brown dress. I bought some under the bump jeans, which I wore yesterday for the first time. They look nice and feel nice when you first put them on, but - as I feared - they don't seem to stay up. I've got the elastic on almost the tightest buttonhole, so am hoping that when my bump gets bigger I won't have to hike them up all the time, because it's very annoying.

Twiga · 29/03/2005 11:50

I'm having a real headache finding jeans just now. Ordered some mat ones from Next - baggy style which just looked like clown toursers on and had the needing to hitch them up problem too, am going to try re-ordering just a boot-cut style like I normally wear. Have found that ones in Mothercare are too wide around the hips for me and look really silly on too. It's not too urgent as my non-mat jeans still have room in them but they now sit wrong and are really annoying me -i want to be comfy but suspect don't have enough of a bump to put into mat trousers yet, so don't want to end up living in tacksuit bottoms for the next couple of weeks.

On a plus side the top I ordered is a lovely fit so guess I can't moan too much - just having a "I feel fat and frumpy" kinda couple of days. Also the thought of returning to work on Saturday not exactly filling me with the joys!

Have started knitting a jumper for the baby, finally got organised enough to go to John Lewis and look at patterns. Not knitted for a long time but seems to be a bit like riding a bike, and having my mum at the other end of the phone means I'm now off to a flying start.

josey · 29/03/2005 12:37

thanks kate100 it was me thats been looking for a dress.
twiga igot jeans out of topshop and people dont believe me when i say they are maternity, they are under bump as as im not huge yet i wear them with a belt which also helps to hide the knitted pockets.
Glad your scan went well leabump.
how did you geton today nic2004dave? hope everything was ok, what a shame your dh counld be with you, how long is he home for, mine is away for 2 weeks home for 2weeks but this time and the next couple his work are putting him on courses so he is never at home.

Twiga · 29/03/2005 14:18

Josey, did you get your jeans in the Topshop in Aberdeen? It's somewhere I'm not in very often so haven't really looked to see if did a mat range.

Twiga · 29/03/2005 16:27

Just thought I'd post the following link for an on-line mat shop which I thought looked quite good Fun Mum

Dazie · 29/03/2005 19:56

Hi everyone
had scan today and everything was fine, we had to go in three times as little one was curled up tight. Had iron bru and crunchie bar to see if we could get some movement but no not until the third attempt. We were there for two hours but it was worth it.
We are having another boy which is great I didnt know how I would feel about another boy but Im fine dh was a little dissapointed as he thought two girls close in age would be nice but he is fine now. We just have to think of boys names we would like something scottish so if you have any ideas that would be great!!

wilbur · 29/03/2005 20:04

Eeeeek, names! I think we have a few girls' names that we would be happy with but if it's a boy, we'll be stuffed. I like quite funky frou frou boys' names (pretentious, moi? ) but dh quite understandably feels that a name like Cosmo will get bump's head flushed down the toilet at school. I can see his point, but I'm a bit of a romantic and like the offbeat. This sagag will run and run, I'm sure. Bump is getting v big now - bought some great vest tops in jojomaman, long with a secret bra so the spaghetti straps are enough to keep everything in place. Got out my old mat clothes and most are wrong season but there are a few things that will do some service. This season, I will mostly be wearing the same thing over and over again.

nic2004dave · 29/03/2005 22:49

hi i ahd my scan to day the doctor said that it looks like a girl but on the off chance if its a boy its good at hiding its bits but i dont think they tell you anything unless thier prettty sure

josey ,
my husband comes home once a month for a weekend then goes back i do find it very difficult due to my anxiety i am house bound pretty much most of the time i rely on ppl coming to see me or ppl have to take me out im scared of ging out on my own in case i have an attack but some days its ok and i can go out for short walks but i try not to bother too much i dont know what i would do with out the net i think my husband was a bit dissapointed with ti being a girl but he said hes not bothered what it is as long as its healthy and the doc said it was fine nopw alls i hvae to do is keep calm and enjoy getting ready for the baby to come .

the one good thing about my husband being away is that i get the bed to my self i dont slleep very well and i get really hot and my husband in bed with me too just makes me agitated cos i cant get comfy god help him when he come home in a week and a half ! lol

nic2004dave · 29/03/2005 22:53

P.s almost for got we chose a girls name and a boys name so if the docs right and its a girl she will be called Niamh and if on the off chance its a boy he will be called Ethan

Azure · 30/03/2005 09:52

Great news about your scans Dazie and Nic2004Dave. Nic, it must be tough being so house-bound with your husband away such a lot. Do you have a good network of friends and family?

kate100 · 30/03/2005 10:32

Great news about scans everyone. The irn bru and crunchie thing really made me laugh, dazie, as I had a chocolate pudding for tea last night and the baby would not keep still!!

I can't keep my under the bump jeans up either, I wore a belt for a little while, but it got too uncomfortable.

I feel very tired and sluggish this morning, so it's a good job it's schools holidays. Unfortuanately the weather is awful, so there's no chance to get DS out of the house to tire im out so we ca both ave a sleep this afternoon. Oh well.

Nic, I totally understand about your DH keeping you awake. Mine is a snorer, very loud, but I think I've learned to tune him out over the years. It's strange as he can be snoring like a road drill and I won;t hear it, but the slightet murmur form DS and I'm awake.

Wilbur I'm the same as you, I shall be wearing the same 5 things until august.

josey · 30/03/2005 18:57

glad the scans went well

Twiga i just ordered mine off the net. most top shops do have a maternity section its quite new as aimed at young mums i got a really nice pair of black trousers there as well with 2 belt sections at the back to adjust size.

nic2004dave - that must be really hard, i thought i was badly off, you must really struggle with out being able to get out much.
Will Dh get time off when the baby is born?

know what you mean about the sleeping as well but im the other way around now cant sleep when he isnt in the bed, and Kate100 boy can dh snore however i have hom well trained one swift kick and he rolls over and stops so i get lots of sleep and he gets non

nic2004dave · 31/03/2005 17:50

its okay i cope you do what has to be done

kate100 · 01/04/2005 18:02

I've had a lovely day today, DS was at nursery and as it's school holiday I had the day to myself. I went for a swim which was lovely, I mamaged 40 lengths and felt lovely and light in the water, although not terribly streamlined anymore. Then I had lunch whith a friend, before I picked up DS. Feel very refreshed as had been feeling tired, I could do with more days like this one!!

Hope everyone else is well and managing to get some 'me' time. We pregnant ladies need it!!

Twiga · 02/04/2005 04:05

Wide awake, and what a ridiculous time of the day too! Start back at work today at 9am - not looking fwd to it at all. Have been asked to consider a transfer to another unit which is temporarily open being used to look after a family of four all under the age of 6, at least one is under a year old (I think). Physical risks to myself would be virtually nil compared with where I am now - no reason not to go for it, but can't help feeling a sense of failure as regards my current post and also won't get a chance to work with my current team again before going on mat leave. Definately for the best though...... Right going to try some hot milk and squeeze in a few more hours befroe I have to be up Night x

kate100 · 02/04/2005 15:57

Twiga, this sounds like it is definitely the best thing for you and your baby, but it is a shame to leave colleagues with whom you have a good working relationship. Enjoy it for the time it is happening, you may appreciate the lighter load as things get near the end of your pregnancy, please don't see it as a failure, it isn't. I wuold do anything to keep my baby safe and won't even do playground duty at the moment. There's plenty of time to deal with flying chairs later on!!!!

Twiga · 03/04/2005 12:39

Kate , your absolutely right, thank you for your kind words! I got back to work yesterday and they still hadn't actioned the things they said they would - they've had a fortnight - I'll be saying yes at my meeting on Weds. Right now the most important thing is my baby. Just got to get through my shift today and tomorrow then back on days off.

josey · 03/04/2005 13:51

hi everyone hope you are all fine

Twiga you are definately doing the right thing.

That Fun mums has some nice stuff i quite like the pink linen suit might be nice for that wedding incase the legs start to swell - oh the joys!

I had a nice me day yesterday my sil took ds out for the day and i went for lunch and shopping with a friend.

Unfortunately my great mood has gone today as i have hurt my neck in my sleep so i can hardly move today. I was in a car accident a year ago next weekend and i keep having problems but this time im having to brave it medication free hope it wont last.

blossom2 · 04/04/2005 21:39

Hi everyone .... how is everyone doing?

does anyone have the following symtoms now (at the end of 5 months)??

  • feel & look like a whale
  • walk with definite pregnancy wobble
  • breathlessness
  • can't sleep on back anymore and only comfortable on right side
  • backache
  • slight swelling in hand in the mornings
  • going to the toilet about 4/5 times in the night ....

I feel like i'm 6 months or later .... its certainly not nice ...

Eulalia · 05/04/2005 15:27

Hi there - glad to hear all the scans are going well. Am surprised how many are finding out the sex. Have been busy with school holidays which are going well. Can't believe how much I am doing but want to do a lot with the kids as by the summer holidays I will be very big and of course at some point will have a new baby

My symptoms are breathlessness and slight dizziness and really tired by evening. Also sometimes when squatting down feel like my bits are going to pop out but mabye that's because its my 3rd pregnancy. Also dry skin which I've got aqeaous cram for. Going to the loo a lot but not at night yet. Apart from that I am fine but I do have easy pregnancies.

Miaou · 05/04/2005 15:32

Blossom:

  • yes
  • yes

  • no
  • no

Or perhaps the last two should be "not yet"! Definitely developing a wobble, but I think that is more down to my achey pelvis than shape/size. As usual I am carrying this baby very low, and am starting to feel like I am stretching now! I really can't sleep at night, but that's more to do with my mind going round and round than needing the loo (good job, it's on another floor!)

colinsmommy · 05/04/2005 15:40

Hi all. Glad to hear the scans are going so well. I'm finally starting to feel like a real person again. Can't believe how sick I got. Just sat around like a lump when I wasn't sleeping.

To answer your questions Blossom. I feel like a whale but just look kind of dumpy at this point, because I've gotten to a 38E, so my boobs are hiding a lot of how big I really am. I get around pretty well, so no wobble, no breathlessness, can't sleep on my back and have a hard time getting comfortable on either side, slight swelling in hands all day, and am down to going to the toilet once a night (for now). I look a lot bigger in summer clothes, because they aren't as baggy, but after a few weeks of 70-80 degree temps, winter came back and its only been about 39-50 here.

Missed you all. Its good to finally be up and around again. Spent 2 hours cleaning out ds's current and new rooms, have lots more to go, because the spare bedroom was basically a storage room for all our junk, and I have to figure out where to put it all.

Dazie · 05/04/2005 16:23

Yes to all Blossom! Im also feeling out of breath ds and dh are ill, all I seem to be doing is clearing up sick at the mo and running up and down the stairs so by the time I reach the top I am exhausted!!

We cleared out the spare room which wasnt supposed to be full of junk but was DD is now in there. Yesterday I spent the day rearranging the dinning room, sewing curtains, hanging curtains and washing windows I think I must be nesting!!

Its nice to feel baby moving around at certain times in the day and I am definetly getting bigger It is all becoming very real now. Its nice to be able to escape in the car without the kids as I passed my driving test just before christmas, so I get to look at all the baby clothes without dh complaining!!
