How about checking out the tyrell's crisps... i'm sure they do a mixed veg.. beetroot, parsnip & carrot mix... & a sweet potato one too I think. No idea on their GI though. You might have to resort to DIY baked sweet potato ones with salt n vinegar!

Jennster · 22/11/2008 11:54

I beleive (but don't take my word for it) if you add lemon juice to higher GI foods, it will lower the index number.

FiKelly · 22/11/2008 12:16

all citrus is very low so might be something in that..

llareggub · 22/11/2008 12:22

Thank you! A low GI life isn't looking so bleak now...

agooboo · 22/11/2008 12:44

Have just unpacked my sainsbury's order. Had forgotten I had ordered some brie and cranberry bites - been craving them for ages. I knwo brie is supposed to be a no-go but I can't resist. Have just put some in the oven.

Have booked a 'viability' scan for Friday at Leeds Screening Centre. £70 which I thought was reasonable. She asked if I wanted the downs screening - hadn't planned on it but it's got me thinking about it and I'm getting a bit worked up about if I should. Anybody not had one? I didn't with the other 2.

divedaisy what kind of a shop do you have?

agooboo · 22/11/2008 12:55

OH my goodness! Just seen a 'Due August 2009' thread. we really are not the newbies anymore!

agooboo · 22/11/2008 13:06

Need to think of a new thread title soon...
What about...
Due may 2009. From beans to babies, bellys to bumps...

Nikkiemadisonandbump · 22/11/2008 13:07

Afternoon ladies!
Hope we're all well today, I've just met my Doula-To-Be, shes lovely so will be keeping her lol! She does pregnancy yoga and active birth so going the full hog this time round, better bloody work!
agooboo I didnt have the downs screening, I did with first pregnancy but didnt think it necessary this time round, I would struggle if the results came back bad, and thought people coped ok before they did all this testing so im sure I can cope without too, although did have the Midwife go on and on at me about it!
Im off for my DPs xmas party tonight, looking forward to it loads and even went and had my hair done yesterday, first time in 6 minths, was heavenly!
DD will be staying at PIL's house tonight so lie in for me! Hoorah!
Nikkie

Talking to myself... going to check out facebook!

FiKelly · 22/11/2008 13:12

agooboo you should be ok with the brie as long as it is piping hot all through to kill off any bacteria. no go before cooking as we all know.

agooboo · 22/11/2008 13:14

Thanks fi It was hot - I burnt my tongue in my desperation to eat them!

FiKelly · 22/11/2008 13:15

i'm on Facebook too.. when i'm using the laptop and not just my phone like I am just now.

agooboo · 22/11/2008 13:23

Work have blocked facebook and I can't access mumsnet talk at work either. what a joke. What do they expect us to do all day?! LOL

divedaisy · 22/11/2008 13:27

agooboo - my hubby & I own and run Hype Bike & Board Store - a skateboard, inline skate, mountainboard, mountain bike & BMX store. We do loads of clothing and accessories too. I've jsut had a few people come in and a man will come back later to size his 10 yr old up for a bike!

when i get cravings for banned stuff if it's cookable i get around it that way. works for a lot of cured and un pasturised stuff. texture changes but at least i get the flavour.

agooboo · 22/11/2008 13:31

Wow! Are you into the outdoor activities then?
I was secretly hoping you would say cake shop so you could tell me about all the different cakes you had. Lol.

divedaisy · 22/11/2008 13:35

All this chat about brie and cranberry - oh you girls are making me hungry. DS is staying at his Nans tonite, so I'm secretly hoping DH will 'suggest' going out for something to eat... provided of course he doesn't get kept on at work...

Think I'll go and make myself a(nother) cheese toasty. I love the taste of them, but the smell of them cooking is horrid.

agooboo - I like your thread title!! It's hard to believe this one is nearly full!

Can't wait to see X Factor, Casualty, Strictly and some of I'm A Celeb... Does anyone else find both Timmy Mallet's laugh and David thingy's wineing so so annoying? It's a pity they were let out of those 'man cages' - I'd've left them there.

agooboo - DH used to BMX for Ireland when he was a lot younger - he raced in the States and UK, so he is passionate about the sport. We don't have a really good and dedicated extreme sports shop near here, and we are planning long term to become an Extreme Sports Emporium!! I do SCUBA diving as my extreme sport! Though not while preg or BFing!!! Not good for baby bump, and milky undersuit stains especially not a good look in front of male divers!

our lounge looks like a weird campsite ds wanted to play tents so the tent/tunnel set is out with our clothes horses covered with towels. he has all the pillows in the flat and all his soft toys and blankie in his den peace for a moment so i can have a hot chamomile, vanilla and honey herbal tea.

lol divedaisy at the bf leeks in scuba gear!

FiKelly · 22/11/2008 13:51

what about for next thread title.. am i beginning to feel some fluttering movement?

divedaisy · 22/11/2008 14:36

What about 'it's all in front of us now!!' or 'Bumps and flutterings!'

Or 'thank god it's nearly christmas - every reason to eat mince pies, cake, turkey and cranberry and brie, all with S&V crisps on top!!!'

or 'The S&V fan club goes large!'

Or 'with the amount we're eating - any wonder we're feeling flutterings?'

OP posts:
FiKelly · 22/11/2008 14:50

lol like all of those.. but i'm not a salt n vinegar lover! may be the only one?

agooboo · 22/11/2008 16:06
