carol7 · 21/11/2008 13:08

Thanks very much my partner has just got in from work so he will spoil me. Take care carol

pulapula · 21/11/2008 13:24

Take it easy Carol, and hope you get a good result next week.

MsG- I am sorry you are still feeling sick. I am lucky to have never been sick or close to being sick- I just feel sick all the time really. I am 13+4 and usually this has passed by 14 weeks so I'm hoping to be feeling more "blooming" soon.

Is anyone else going all gooey over little babies. I have been to toddler group this morning and the babies are so scrummy- I can't wait to have mine! My DS was very cute there too- playing independently so I could sit down with a cup of tea.

Does anyone else go to toddler groups where there are a few dads?. I find the dads chat more than the mums and ignore their kids, leaving them to run wild and be really quite nasty to the younger babies/toddlers. I find myself telling their children off but I shouldn't have to! Maybe its just the few dads at this group...My DH isn't brave enough to take the kids to play group!

Momino · 21/11/2008 13:36

still not feeling movement but looked back at my diary of last pregnancy and it was wk 19 before i felt anything. so i've relaxed a bit.

very hungry today. just had two fish finger sandwiches and it wasn't enough. not sure what i want now....

Momino · 21/11/2008 13:38

pulapula, we went to play group today and there is one little girl who goes with her daddy and she follows my dd1 around grabbing any toy my india starts to play with. i did quietly tell her off today, don't think the dad noticed. i'm all for learning to share but this seemed a bit like bullying (though i think 3 might be a bit too young to understand bullying?).

pulapula · 21/11/2008 13:47

Momino, the one little girl I don't like basically decides what toy(s) she wants at the start and if anyone tries to play with them when she's not playing with them (e.g when shes on a slide), she shouts "no" and snatches them back. She will peddle round on her trike, with one hand on a pushchair to stop it being taken (and pushchairs are in short supply and very popular!). She tried to push passed my DS as he was climbing up the slide steps, but I stopped her! She's only 3 but she really annoys me!

Momino · 21/11/2008 13:57

defn. sounds like the little girl at our group - you sure we don't go to the same one, lol.

dd2 asleep upstairs, dd1 watchin Fifi on dvd and I should be clearing up lunch dishes, washing bibs, etc. but i can't be bothered! so here i am with my cuppa tea and choc (liquid salted caramels left from a small gift from dh last week, mmmmmm).

hope you're all doing the same!

HunnieBHayz · 21/11/2008 15:06

Hi there can I join you all?

Im Hayz due baby number 2 on 26th May

already have a DD who will be 3 in march

This is our 5th pregnancy after 3 miscarriages since 2004 x

Momino · 21/11/2008 15:13

wecome, Hayz, and many congrats on your pregnancy. hope you're feeling well.

must admit, am very tired today. should have had a nap but now dd2 is about to wake up and dd1 getting bored playing by herself. looks like i'll have to gather my energy.

stillhave to walk the dog but it's cold and rainy and i don't want to bother! why did we have to get a border collie with so much energy? wish we could just let him round up a few sheep somewhere. aww we love him anyway. i just know he'll be disappointed when we bring home baby3 (not another one!).

MsG · 21/11/2008 15:14

Hiya HunnieBHayz, welcome to the thread and congrats on your pregnancy. Sorry to hear you've had 3 miscarriages. I had 1 last year and was so relieved to get to the scan and see everything looking ok. We must be around the same time as I'm due May 29th. Have you had your scan yet?

Pulapula, thanks - I'm feeling better today. I haven't actually been properly sick - I won't go into details - but do feel very nauseous at times and retch so much.

I went for a swim this morning. I really enjoyed it although I need to get a new cossie soon as my tankini top is too small really. I'm hoping it will help me sleep better...

xx

Momino · 21/11/2008 15:48

i love kids. i'm sat here looking on ebay whilst dd2 is talking to her toy pig and sticking stickers everywhere - i've got about 20 animal stickers stuck to the front of me, how charming .

dd2 finally yelling to get picked up, long nap of about 2 hours! hope this nap thing goes on till past 2 years which is after baby3 arrives.... (with my luck)

Due1stMay09 · 21/11/2008 16:49

Hi everyone.
Had a crap day today, went to see my MW last fri for my 16 week check up and had high bp (130/90) so she told me to come back today to check it again, and its now 140/95. So now i have to go to hospital next friday and if its still high i might have to go on tablets, go to hospital every week and start maternity leave early which i really dont want to do
Dont know why its so high. I did ask, but she said it could be hereditary or my hormones. She also said baby isnt at risk yet until i get to 28 weeks if my bf is still high. Now im worried about everything!!
Hope everyone is ok

Due1stMay09 · 21/11/2008 16:51

lol *not bf i meant bp
Baby brain!!!

Jael · 21/11/2008 17:11

Hiya all, had my 16 week apt with midwife today, and the blood test, which was horrible! She spent so much time fiddling round, and I'm not good with needles, it really hurt and I already have a huge bruise coming up. I've had the SPD confirmed by doctor today, and he's told me to talk to consultant about it on 3rd Dec n sent me away. Still in pain

alapala · 21/11/2008 17:56

carol7 hope you are feeling a bit better and resting well. I think in the end I might turn into a bit too much of a wimp for an amnio, I still cahnge my mind everyday. Hope your results are good.

I got offered a seat on the metro today -twice! So ok my top was quite tight and I pushed the gut out a bit but am still not quite 14 weeks and still in all my normal clothes..

llareggub · 21/11/2008 18:49

Well, I definitely have gestational diabetes, it seems. I had an appointment with the specialist diabetes nurse who swapped my green pregnancy notes for bright orange gestational pregnancy notes, so that was my first clue. The second glue was the blood monitoring that I now have to do 3 times a day until I give birth!

It was all a bit upsetting, as she suspects that I had it, undetected, during my last pregnancy. I suspect she might be right. She also told me that after brief skin to skin time, baby will be whisked off to special care for monitoring. I asked why she told me it was hospital policy, although the national guidelines are that babies should stay with mothers. Hmm. She told me to write to the Head of Midwifery to tell her that I want baby with me, not in special care. This is a battle I am going to fight.

Without going into details, my post-birth experience in the hospital was not positive and it culminated in the special care nurse threatening to take DS away to special care if I continued to refuse formula. In the end I caved in, and it took weeks and weeks to get breastfeeding established as a result. I never want to see that woman again, it was an awful experience. All of those memories came flooding back during my appointment and I got really upset.

She also told me that I'd have to change consultants, and at the risk of sounding precious, this was the last straw. I know my consultant well as he gave me fertility treatment, and was my consultant last time around. I trust him and want to keep him! So I've been told I can see him again and I'll take advice from him.

Phew, a long one. Hope you are all OK.

SpangleMaker · 21/11/2008 18:58

Welcome hayz & congrats on your pregnancy

Due1stMay sorry to hear about your bp problem. I hate having mine done, I know it goes up if I'm a bit worried - they call it white coat syndrome! At the hospital when they listened to my heart the doc checked & it was 130/90 but he went off for a bit, checked again and was 120/80. Try, if you can, not to worry too much - chances are it was higher when you saw the mw than it is when you're chilled out at home.

Jael you'd think doing blood tests every day they'd be able to do it nice & quick! BTW where in Staffs are you? I guess if you're deciding between Stafford & N Staffs you're Stone way? I'm the other end, Staffs Moorlands, nearer to Congleton than Stoke. Detsy is from S Cheshire so not so very far away. I grew up in Stoke although none of my family come from the region.

SpangleMaker · 21/11/2008 19:06

llareggub sorry to hear about your diabetes and the nightmare at the hospital. Pregnancy is stressful enough without (sometimes ill-informed) medical staff trying to force you down a route that is better for their risk management than your/your baby's wellbeing. It makes me mad how many stories I read on here about hospital midwives practically forcing mums to give formula when there is no medical need. Good luck, hope you get a quick agreement to the care you want.

divedaisy · 21/11/2008 20:06

Carol7 hope you are taking things very easy. Big hug sent your way. xx

Momino, I too kept a diary with DS but I cannot find it anywhere inthe house!! It has distressed me that I cant find it - all my feelings and experiences were in it... along with all the names (and daft names that DH came up with!!)... I know I packed stuff up last year when house went up for sale, but I've looked inall the boxes but it's not there...

Jael, I'm glad you've got your PSD diagnosed, although feel for you that it is PSD. Get a physio appointment arramged - they'll instruct you with what you're to do etc, give you some exercises to do and will fit you with a support belt (ot girdle). Did your GP give you any painkillers?? As I've said to you before, I have been told that Co-codamol 30/500mg (aka Tylex)is OK to take - it contains 30mg codeine with 500mg paracetamol. You can take 2 tablets up to 4 times a day. This strength cannot be bought over the counter so needs to be prescribed - ask your consultant, or if you cannot wait until beginning of Dec ask your MW or go back and see your GP. There is absolutely no need to be in pain - it doesn't help - just makes you more tense.

Ilareggub - sorry to hear about your experience today - not a good advertisement for our health service. My ds was in SCBU for the first week of his wee life, and the staff there were great - I bf him and there was never any mention of formula - in fact quite the opposite - bf was promoted. I found it very reassuring to be able to do something for my son, especially when he was attached to drips and monitors etc.

oh dear, sounds like a few have had tough days, hope you're taking care now.

was tiring today with girls at each other all day, lots of yelling/noise, some tantrums, etc. luckily, dh said he'd cook tonight and just made a fire for me and sat me in the big chair by the fireplace with laptop to look at some shopping (just won a silver cross doll pram on ebay for tenner for dd1s birthday!).

have a relaxing evening tonight. we're going to sit in front of telly tonight and not use our brains. new IT Crowd on tonight, need some laughs.

frazzledoldbag34 · 21/11/2008 20:48

hello, hope everyone's ok.
Today I have been (a) knackered and (b) starving!
Only just got the kids to bed as they were hyper as we didn't get in till almost 8 (been for tea at Italian restaurant with friends - lovely- Carbonara yum).
Am going to have a bath, read my new Nigella Christmas book for a bit then have an early night.
DH out tonight so he's sleeping in the spare room (he'll be drunk I suspect since he's at a 'wine tasting' evening). At least I might get some sleep tonight - Is anyone else waking up on and off all night then exhausted in the morning.....not funny.

Jael · 21/11/2008 21:52

Spangle I'm in Stafford. DP has got family scattered all round Stoke. I've picked Stafford hospital because it's like a 5 min drive from our house lol.

daisy The doctor didn't give me anything. He said "Right we better book you in to see a consultant, are you seeing a consultant at all" and I said yes, at the start of December to discuss me wanting a c-section, n he said there was no need for him to refer me to a consultant, and that I'd need to speak to her then. We can't keep co-codamol in the house at all I'm afraid as DP is majorly allergic to it. I can just imagine him kissing me just after i've taking some and putting him in hospital, i don't wanna do that! Mite have to take some paracetamol though, cuz the pain is not good at all, it's affecting my sleeping too. Keep waking up in the night with "pubic pains"

EmmalinaC · 21/11/2008 22:14

Hello all - just taken me ages to catch up!

Sounds like some of you have had a stressful few days. Jael really sorry to hear you've got SPD - I had it at during my last pg but not right til the very end, by which time I was an immobile lump anyway! Hope you get lots of support.

Carol7 got everything crossed for you. Make sure you're well looked after!

llareggub well done for sticking up for yourself and keeping your consultant - if you know and trust him it sounds like you'll be in safe hands.

I've had a lovely day today. DH has had a busy stressful few weeks at work so he took a day's holiday and we took DD to the London Aquarium, then for lunch at Giraffe and walked along the South Bank through the Christmas market. Lovely. Knackered now though!

agooboo · 21/11/2008 22:17

llareggub sorry to hear about the diabetes - as if pregnancy doesn't provide you with enough to think about.

divedaisy - i know exactly what you mean about not being sure if theres a bump yet. If i pull my stomach in I don't look too different from before pregancy (maybe a bit thicker round the waist and a small lump at the bottom of my stomach) but if i let it all out I am very rounded.

Does anyone know of a place in/near leeds that do scans? I got a letter today to tell me not to attend my dating scan on wednesday as I already had one at 9 weeks when I was referred up to the EPAU for bleeding. Which is fair enough but still a bit disappointed as we were going to get a pic and start to tell people. So DH suggested that we pay for one but I have looked on the net and can't seem to find much.

Have had to laugh at myself today - still not told told anyone at work so have had a scarf hung around my neck all day trying to disguise my fat belly. I don't look pregnant yet - people must think I've been eating too many pies.
Been a quick week but hard and tiring.

EmmalinaC · 21/11/2008 22:26

agooboo I'm really shocked that you've been told not to attend your scan as you had an early scan at 9 weeks! How many weeks are you? I would have thought you're entitled to 12 week scan on the NHS regardless of what happened earlier - maybe you should call the hospital and ask?

detsy · 21/11/2008 22:32

Ok girls _ i think you are going to owe me!! I have found a site which I'm really impressed with that does long and short maternity wear, winter sun stuff and coats!!!! Oh and plus size maternity stuff too - link is below
