hello all
cricri I think that is a very sensible plan. As far as I can gather sweeps only really work if things are already starting to happen, as you say, if your cervix is beginning to efface etc. I know it is hard to wait (DS was 41 weeks) but there is no real point in rushing things.
I know I know, easy for me to say, I have my baby..yeah yeah..

On the up side, I hope things are on the go for you and you do get the sweep!

Heartmum lol with you and the garnd prix. MY friend had to compete with the rugby world cup and her labour- she was very patient, I thought.

And stop with the compliments, you are making me blush!

MonkeyMargot · 02/11/2008 10:38

Morning all!
Heartmum hope things start moving along today for you - but not until Hamilton has won the grand prix of course!!
Cricri that sounds like a sensible plan. When my MW comes to visit on Tues she is going to do an internal to see what's happening with cervix etc. It does seem pointless doing a sweep if things aren't ready. Good luck tomorrow!
BTW, I bought some EPO capsules yesterday and have started taking those orally along with RLT, and I also inserted a couple last night ... I THINK that's what lacks suggested? Hope I got that right!

sparkletoes · 02/11/2008 10:43

That was my understanding of sweeps too Cricri, I won't be rushing into it unless required either. Think it just sets you up for further disappointment if cervix not ready. However I hope it happens soon for you

Pinkyminkee I am afraid you will just have to learn to cope with the admiration you are stunning!

Good luck to everyone else who is due imminently.. calming thoughts and vibes...

Yes where is Ruthy?

My nesting instinct has finally kicked in so am going to run with it while it lasts....

tegan · 02/11/2008 10:48

sparkle i have been nesting for a week now to the point i am changing beds everyday and even polished the porch floor with mr sheen, not good as everyone keeps slipping over now.
I am really pissed off this morning as my bump seems to of grown over night and i can't even fit into my maternity tops so am wearing dh's xxl t shirt.

mum2becks · 02/11/2008 10:59

Had a text update from Saurus

"no baby action despite another 12 hours of contractions yesterday! I'm staying off the computer today but will update if I have any news...Love to all and fingers crossed for more babies by tomorrow"

She must be exhausted poor thing so lets hope she gets some rest before it becomes the real thing!!

tegan I have been like that for the last week or so, none of my maternity tops go anywhere near my bump and am wearing DH's biggest t-shirts I can find!

Honeymoonmummy · 02/11/2008 11:00

Hello all! I have been on the October thread as I was due on 29th October but I am now 4 days overdue and already going INSANE from waiting, so I thought I'd pop across and say hi. I've been told that November babies are better anyway (by two people whose birthdays are in November)....

MummyNic · 02/11/2008 11:09

Morning everyone. Hello honeymoonmummy cricri I'd be very interested to hear about the sweep as I'm going to ring up for one tomorrow. I'll be watching the Grand Prix this afternoon so he can't come yet!!!

I'm being induced on Wed anyway so this time next week I'll be home with cyril - what a wierd thought!!! Quite frightening to think that I've just had my last lie-in for years!!!

sparkletoes · 02/11/2008 11:12

Oh dear Tegan! But actually the porch is on my list of things to get the heck on with today! Won't use Mr Sheen then (esp as there are steep steps from our house!).

I also realised my maternity top doesn't quite cover the bump this morning and my 'over bump' jeans are in wash...

Hi Honeymoonmummy, I have also been told that by other Nov babies! Welcome to the thread...

OP posts:
tegan · 02/11/2008 11:52

I have my over the bump jeans on but all the other ones i have that only come half way up are now sitting under bump and slip down when i walk. How the hell am i going to dress over the next 3 weeks

hanaflower sending you a virtual hug - why do men always disappear when you need them eh??

HM2J I reckon you will give birth just as Lewis Hamilton wins the championship and then you will have to call your baby Lewis Ds is doing ok in his bed - he falls out about once a night but just puts himself back in He doesn't seem to have the urge to leave his bedroom (yet) but I am sure that is only a matter of time!! Although it was good this morning when we knew he was awake, we just called him and he came rather than us having to leave our bed to go and get him

Tegan can you send some nesting vibes my way as I don't appear to have any (I didnt with DS either - I think DH wishes I did as the house would be lot tidier!!

Lolabella did I miss the photos of Oscar??

Am all wrinkled like a prune - went swimming for about an hour and then DH and DS came and joined me for another half hour or so - you can imagine what my fingertips look like!!

Whilst I remember, good luck tomorrow for Autumnlady and Ladybuzz - hope everything goes smoothly and look forward to the baby news

Tegan - sympathy I am living in sloppy tracky bottoms and have 1 pair of over the bump jeans which are fab. Tops I am washing almost daily as have now 2 left and in theory I have 2 weeks to go. My coat only just stretches over so have a shawl for those forgt about closing it moments and hurrah my 1 pair of shoes that fitted over swollen feet the sole has just split !
Obv - big hugs am that you can find your feet .
Hello honeymoonmummy
I also have check Tues to check baby elefants approx weight and my bp etc then doc will decide if am to hang on a bit longer or whatever! I in theory have another 2 weeks to go but due to being an OAP mum and a few other minor things might go earlier !

Pinkyminkee · 02/11/2008 13:28

hi all
just been out for lunch, it feels funny being out as a family of five!

Tegan I had to bring my bump band back into service over the last few weeks of my pg as i was getting a chily bump! They are only cheap in topshop if you don't have one, and they really do the trick.

big hugs to rutho hope you get some kip, sweetheart.x

hana yup yup been there on that one, in fact I only know the pin number to two of my cards- my brain cannot retain any more than that!

Pinkyminkee · 02/11/2008 13:33

ceebee lolabella has a very cute photo of her wee man on her profile page. he is gorgeous.

ruthosaurus · 02/11/2008 14:06

Hi all,

Have just sneaked onto the computer - said I wasn't going near it today - while DH is at the shops getting stuff for lunch. I have asked him to get me a chocolate advent calendar as 24 days is the longest that I will now go without being induced (baby due 12th Nov + 2 weeks penalty time).

Congrats to Lolabella and sorry not to do a more general catchup but sitting at the comp really hurts. Good luck with the sweeps/inductions etc! Hope to see loads more babies soon now we are really in November.

Not that I'm keeping count but since Thursday evening I have clocked up about 34 hours of contractions. Surely that is enough for most babies to get the hint and depart the womb? DH will say it's cos I'm obsessive and never throw anyhting out.

Love to all, hope you're having a good Sunday!

Tinkerisdead · 02/11/2008 14:42

Hi all, went to the crappy wedding yesterday as my child the traitor decided not to arrive and save me! i missed the firework display from the birth pool gutted!
just logged in as i just new we'd have birth announcements..
congrats to lolabella and oscar
Lacks and finlay
and Pinkali and esme...I was totally convinced Pinkali would have a boy, maybe it was the "tarquin" references. i genuinely thought hers would be a boy and mines a girl, now im wondering whether Dh is right and mine's a boy...

i'll log in tomorrow to catch up properly, good luck to all those contracting or having interventions tomorrow..x

sparkletoes · 02/11/2008 15:17

Sorry Lolabella forgot to congratulate you in my last post, welcome Oscar James!! and another cool name!

LOL at the advent calendar reasoning Ruthy! DocWife will there not be plenty more opportunities to give birth with a firework display tho? Around here they seem to go off from now until.... about bloody New Year!! (we'll all definately have given birth long before then!)

OP posts:
Tinkerisdead · 02/11/2008 15:29

sparkle my house backs on to local parkland/farmers fields and they held the charity firework display on it last night, it goes on for 2 hours and is masssssive. each year we have a party and watch from the decking in our garden. i had a real romantic notion of being in the birth pool watching it..i cant see anymore fireworks from the house as its just the fields no houses. even my midwife text me at 7pm last night and said "i take it our private firework display is off?" ha ha.

i could ask DH to hold a display in the garden on the day in question but i think i may need him to fill the pool!

sparkletoes · 02/11/2008 16:00

Hmn yes DW I think your DH will have other things to do on the night.. That is a shame but I really don't think you will be caring too much about fireworks when time comes anyway!

I now at least have a clean house, what about that porch...

We have also looked again at the damaged Quinny Dreami and may be saved after all with some imaginative sewing but not getting hopes up yet...

misdee · 02/11/2008 16:02

hooray, dh has moved all the stuff which was in the living room upstairs. things like hi records, dj decks etc etc. so living room is cleaner and tidier. i put up a blind on the back door this afternoon, and am about to put the voiles up in our room, so if i decide to give birth in there my neighbours wont get a full-on view of my fanjo if in the middle of the day and curtains are open lol.

cricri · 02/11/2008 16:39

Sounds like this is the day for cleaning/clearing out etc. I've just spent the past hour and a half dusting and sorting out our wine collection (we have rather a lot )
MW came and couldn't give me a sweep as she said my cervix is too posterior so obviously labour isn't imminent at the moment. She said they checked for dilation first anyway. However, she did say she'd never seen a baby's head so low (no wonder I'm uncomfortable at times!) and when labour does start it could very well be quick and that I'm ready to go. She was tempted to write only 1/5 palpable in my notes! Hopefully her rummaging around will start something, if not she's coming back on Wednesday for another go. I didn't find it too bad, although I realise she didn't do an actual sweep. It just felt like an uncomfortable smear and she said she'd stop anytime I wanted her to. Not had any bleeding since or cramping so that's good. The other good news is that baby has turned again and is no longer posterior - she's back to being ROA so hopefully she's getting ready
Drswife Sorry you didn't get your birth with the fireworks going off and you had to go to the crappy wedding
Hana about the credit card and at DH. Hopefully the answers to the security questions will come back to you when you're not put on the spot and you can call them back and explain.
Welcome Honeymoonmummy
Rutho Glad you're OK but sorry to hear you're still in pain. Advent calendar is a great idea, although I'd probably scoff all the chocs in one go!
Hope everybody else is OK and that the petrolheads enjoy the Grand Prix

MonkeyMargot · 02/11/2008 17:06

Hi all.
Cricri great news that baby is in the ROA position and head is low! A quick labour sounds like a good thing for sure!
DrsWife Boo to crap weddings and shame you didn't get to see fireworks from your birthing pool. Still - there might be the odd firework going off if you go into labour sometime this week?
I've been to Selfridges today which I managed to put DH off doing last Sunday, but not today. Now watching songs of praise with tea and ginger nuts...nice.

MonkeyMargot · 02/11/2008 18:48

WHAT an exciting finish to the Brazilian grand prix!!!!! Good on you Lewis!!!!!!

Heartmum2Jamie · 02/11/2008 19:05

WOOHOOOOOO!!!! No baby (sorry!!!) but OMG, that was an absolutely BRILLIANT finish to the Grand Prix. How I didn't just pop the baby out in my excitement is beyond me, lol! Well done Lewis!!!
