Might be the best thing. How would you get there?

Diege · 31/10/2008 18:07

Hi, just seen this. I think, failing a good neighbour to leave LOs with until DH gets back, I would get a taxi to hospital with kids. They must have this all the time, I wouldn't give it a second thought. Have you been able to contact dh? I'm sure if he heard the situation he would leave early, and if not at least could leave straight for hospital? Really, really feel for you - what a nightmare

SesHashadafab12weekscan · 31/10/2008 18:11

I agree Diege.
What would the hospital do if you you just turned up with the kids? They'd manage and you'd get the care you need.

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 31/10/2008 18:12

I'd have to get a taxi... one that took cards too!! luckily we have one here!!

Have spoken to DH, he said there is nothing he can do at all... his other manager left early today so he's alone with only one other staff, and his area manager wouldn't allow him to shut shop early.

I ordered kids some pizza online, its just arrived, think i'm gonna let them eat it while i phone the ward and see what they say.

GYo · 31/10/2008 18:14

Hi Glask- sorry to hear things are so bad.

Might NHS direct have something useful to say to help?

Sorry I cant be more helpful - wish i was nearby so could do something useful.

SesHashadafab12weekscan · 31/10/2008 18:14

Think that's an awful attitude from your DH's area manager. There are sometimes in life when business does not come first and if he was that bothered, I'm sure he could arrange for someone else or even himself to cover.
However, me ranting won't get you sorted!! Go with your plan and hope they help you feel better and get some goodness into you soon.

Diege · 31/10/2008 18:15

Sounds sensible Glask. Please let us know what you decide to do (if you get the chance!). A special wagon hug (( )) xxx

Diege · 31/10/2008 18:18

Agree with SES - what sort of business is so indispensable that it has to stay open when family need to get to hospital? . Hope dh kicks up a stink!

GYo · 31/10/2008 18:18

Good luck Glask. Fingers crossed the hospital can stop you being sick

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 31/10/2008 18:19

thanks ladies... I'm off to phone Ward now... just been sick again, lots more blood, but its getting thicker and darker now... will let you know what the ward say

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 31/10/2008 18:25

phoned then, senior midwife wants me to go in. She said to take the kids till DH can collect them. I'm worried about whats going to happen tomorrow though as DH should be working, we can't afford him to have unpaid time off.... but we'll have to sort something

see you all when i'm out!!

SesHashadafab12weekscan · 31/10/2008 18:28

Take care Glask - will be thinking of you...

Diege · 31/10/2008 18:37

Glask don't worry about tomorrow, it will sort itself out. Look forward to hearing from you soon - I'm sure you will feel much better for the stay and treatment xxx

tinkisbigandinneedofzzzzzzzzz · 01/11/2008 08:40

dd kept getting out of bed last night cause of the fireworks had loads round here really loud ones too!!
off to look in toysrus this morning on my own to look @ baby toys

kayzisexpecting · 01/11/2008 09:29

Morning,

Glas, I hope you are starting to feel a bit better being in hospital. Don't worry about DH's work. You are much more important.

DS slept until half 7 this morning!! I am so happy I managed to have a lie in.

Juts realised I am seeing my consultant on Monday and I have no idea where my notes are!! DH said he was putting them in a safe place, which means we'll never see them again!!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 01/11/2008 09:54

Morning

Glask, another one hoping you managed to get some help last night, doesn't sound like fun Fingers crossed you are already on the turn around to getting better.

Tink, have fun at Toys R Us, t'is a dangerous shop for me - especially alone!!

Disco went well, well as well as kids disco's go, DS1 spent the whole time batting the girls round their heads with the balloons, and being batted round his head with balloons by the girls, and DS2 spent the whole time sat betwen me and DH playing with the cardboard beer mats I think it was too busy and loud for him really, he didn't even attempt to get down! They both slept really well though so something shattered thaem out!

As for me, I have been up since 2am Bloody contractions, every 3 minutes lasting a minute. There are more reasons than the obvious one as to why I can't wait for this baby to be born!

SesHashadafab12weekscan · 01/11/2008 09:58

Morning tink and Kay

I keep being so tired!! Used to be that I'd struggle to be in bed before 11pm. These days I struggle to stay awake past 9pm!

Glask- thinking of you and hoping you're feeling better.

SesHashadafab12weekscan · 01/11/2008 10:00

Sorry NJ - x-posted!
Disco sounds good! Your description created a lovely image in my head

kayzisexpecting · 01/11/2008 10:05

Nat, Sorry you had a bad night. Is there nothing your GP can give you to stop them a bit? Glad the boys had a good disco.

Ses, I am the same. I just can't stay awake past half 9.

SesHashadafab12weekscan · 01/11/2008 10:11

We really have to think about that wagon nursery soon...Kay - am I right in thinking you're 34 weeks now??!

kayzisexpecting · 01/11/2008 10:23

Yes I was 34 weeks yesterday. So not long to go. Considering they say full term is anything from 37-42 weeks it could be 3 weeks away.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 01/11/2008 10:39

Tiredness, it is a bloody big thing your body is doing, growing a whole new person, all the bones and skin and muscles and lungs and heart and kidneys and finger nails and hair and teeth and everything else. It is HUGE!!

Kay, nope, nothing to stop them, if I went to the hospital everytime they got regular they would use drugs to stop them, but there is no way I could spend that long in hospital. All they can do for at home is give me pain relief, which is always codiene based because paracetamol doesn't touch it, and the codiene sends me absolutely loopy, I would rather the pain TBH!

Kay, Teuch might beat you, her DS was prem, not heard from her for a while actually, anyone seen her about?

kayzisexpecting · 01/11/2008 10:50

No not heard from Teuch in ages. Isn't she due at the start at January?

Its a shame there is nothing they can give you. I was so surprised when the MW said to me when I was in labour to take paracetamol. I was like "I am in labour!!" They did nothing to help.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 01/11/2008 10:57

She is due a couple of days ahead of me (think she just made it in to December in the end) I am 31 weeks today so only 3 weeks behind you, so she must be at the most 2 and half weeks behind you.

Yep, I remember when the niggles started to turn serious with DS1 (I was induced so already in hospital) and she said to take some parrots, I nearly cried! I actually said "no I'll just have an epidural thanks" as a joke, she gave me such a filthy look as if to say "cor we've got a right one 'ere" I don't think they like epidural's mentioned on the ante-natel wards!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 01/11/2008 10:58

I was going to do a search for Teuch, but she changes her name so often, not sure what to search for.
