Sorry could not spell the anti... blah thingy... but you know what I am going on about the invasive tests

Pezzina · 24/08/2009 18:04

Cindy I'm so glad your scan went well That is fantastic news.

Smiley It certainly sounds like your body is getting ready to go-go-go!

I've got just under two weeks to go and definitely feel the baby has moved a lot lower down into my pelvis. Seeing the m/w on Wednesday so will find out more then.

My tens machine has been delivered, my hospital bags are pretty much packed, and the nursery is finished - we just want the baby now

Hope everyone is doing well x

spats · 24/08/2009 18:38

Cindy good news on your scan -horray. Thinking positive thoughts for oyu. Unfortunatley no idea on invasive testing as haven't needed them but am sure there is a wise women somewhere on MN who will be able to advice if you post the topic.

Pezz and Smiley nearly there yeah i am bringing up the rear (so to speak!!) and am 37 weeks tom. Glad have hit that milestone as now fully term so if comes now hopefully no need for special care. Mind you always late so thinking still probably have a month to go. Its going scarily fast now. Just got room tidy for baby, although having the bathroom redone so once suite is delivered may have to take up most of room. Not good timing on the bathroom front. May have to rearrange it as not sure whether want workmane in whilst a) in labour or b) post delivery trying to feed a baby. But really wanted new bathroom so baby has nice bathroom to be clened in. Not that he will notice, but I will.

Had my hormal teary day yesterday when thought no one liked me and wouldn't care if i wasn't around and just cried at anything, mind you DH and I had had a barny the day before so didn't help. Feeling better today though xx

smileycat · 25/08/2009 13:36

Cindy I am 38 nearly 39 and had to go for the tests to see if baby was at risk, they won't do the full tests unless your results from a detail scan and bloods come back as a high risk so I wouldn't worry too much about it just yet. They do the scan and bloods between 12 & 14wks and give you a 1 in several thousand based on your age and the test results. I think with my age I was supose to be 1 in 120 at risk of having a baby with downs but after the bloods and scan I came out with a number in the 1000's so was very happy not to get further tests done. I know it doesn't stop you worring but try and put it out of your mind until the day of the tests, they gave me the results there and then by the way.

No news from me yet, still getting periody pains and running out of room but no show or waters breaking yet. I asked the midwife about starting me off at the end of Aug as my ds goes away to school on the 4th and dh has to go on a course in London on the 6th for 5 wks and will only be back at wkends, she said they don't start you off till term plus 10 here but she will do a sneaky internal stir up at the end of Aug for me to see if that gets things moving for me if she hasn't arrived my then, fingers crossed I won't need it and she will be here some time this wk or early next

C1NDY · 26/08/2009 10:41

Smileycat Thanks for the advice... I guess you are right I just need to see what the risk is before I decide.

I am reading threads whenever I get the chance so cant wait to hear when all your babies arrive!!

spats · 26/08/2009 11:12

Smiley isn't is a nightmare that you don't know when the baby will come. My DS go to school on 4th also and as not due till 15th fingers crossed will be OK but you can never tell. its DS#2 1st time also as he starts reception so want to do the school run and pick him ujp as much as can before baby arrives. Also don't really want an aug baby as they are so little when go to school and will have a whole extra year at home with him if its sept born. And my firend is duein NOv so will be in same school year!!
Baby definately dropped, can feel its kicks lower down so on its way, will get some nusing bras when shopping tommorrow which is the last thing on my list. So tired, up 3 times in night for a wee and then DS#1 woke me up at 6.30 to show me his ice cubes were all frozen from the night before , he was well chuffed wi8th them, i wasn't!!!Loving this mat leave though, just vegging out. Going to meet a lady who bas son starting in same class as DS#2 but need to get more awake so can contribute to conversation, lots of coke needed i think. Hope everyone and babies and babies to be are OK. My goodness we are so nearly there, its scary. x

its very quiet on here, hope everyone is well and enjoying the bank holiday
I'm still here and baby is hanging on in there determined to be a September baby after all.
I see my midwife tomorrow evening and she is going to do a membrain sweep for me to see if she can get things moving before I get left alone after the wkend. It would be great if she arrived in the next couple of days, I don't really want to think about going it alone if she doesn't

C1NDY · 01/09/2009 08:53

SmileyCat I have my fingers and toes crossed for you that the baby makes an appearance soon.

C1NDY · 01/09/2009 08:53

Pezzina and Spats how are you both holding up?

spats · 01/09/2009 10:51

Doing OK thanks. Glad its now september as didn't really want aug baby as they are so litle when go to school. 38 weeks today but other 2 were late so thinking probably got 3 weeks to go. very tired now as not sleeping well as getting up for loo so much in night and last nightm was so hot and stuffy couldn't breath. DS 1 and 2 go to school on thurs so have to make sure organised so pack lunches made night before just in case. Would be good if knew when baby coming, feel like hanging in limbo. Trying to get girls meal out before baby so guess have todo asap as never know. x

nelix2000 · 01/09/2009 15:25

smiley how did the sweep go?

OP posts:
Pezzina · 01/09/2009 17:00

Hi everyone,

I'm doing ok, just getting a little impatient with wanting this baby to make an appearance. Officially not due till 5th Sept but keep getting the odd twinge here and there and wonder if its going to start things going, and then nothing. Ho hum.... I know the chances are that the baby will be late so I guess there is nothing else to do but wait.

Feeling so uncomfortable now though and am finding it difficult to get a decent night sleep like you Spats

smileycat · 01/09/2009 19:07

midwife called and said she couldn't make it tonight as she was on the labour ward last night and didn't get any sleep so she is coming over tomorrow evening. Shame I was looking forward to finding out if the cervix was open or not. We have just had a hot curry and dh may get lucky tonight to see if we start things off ourselves
I can understand how you feel Pezz I'm getting fed up too, feeling very uncomfortable all the time and not sleeping to well with all the movement and loo visits. I can feel her so low now every time she moves her head it feels like shes pushing her way out and its difficult to take a deep breath now with so little room left...at least if she doesn't make an appearance on her own and the sweep doesn't work she will be here by the 14th as thats the day they will offically induce me

C1NDY · 02/09/2009 10:37

Pezzina and Smileycat big hugs to you both... isn't it exciting that you will both have a bundle of joy by the end of the month. Being pregnant before I know how you must both be feeling. Try and relax and save your energy for the labour. Have any of you had a show yet?

smileycat · 03/09/2009 08:59

Had a sweep last night, midwife said it was a good sweep, cervix is open 2cm and she managed to get two fingers in around the babies head. Cervix is half way down but still thick, so it needs to drop some more and thin out before contractions start, she said this could happen over a couple of hours or over a wk, so still waiting. Have had fairly strongish periody pains since yesterday but they haven't developed into anything stronger yet. she said its a 50/50 chance that a membraine sweep will start you off, so fingers crossed that I'm in the good 50%
How are you Pezz any signs yet that things are happening your end

C1NDY · 03/09/2009 14:36

Smiley that sound promising, it starts with mild period pains but will gradually get stronger.

spats · 03/09/2009 15:56

Urgh i really dont like the thought of a membrane sweep, i think i will decline it if offered. Had midwife check today (38+2)and he has turned so not back to back anymore which is good, head is deep down she said, didn't say whether engaged but i can feel his head in my pevlis so good sign. Can't walk very far now though, its such an effort especially when he grinds his head into my pelvis. Hopefully it will be soon for you smiley x

Pezzina · 03/09/2009 18:00

Oooo, Smiley that does sound promising - my fingers are crossed it starts things off for you.

Still not a lot happening with me, just the odd twinge and cramping, so I'm not at all convinced I will have my baby on Saturday - although that will mean I can go to my brother's wedding - so every cloud, and all that...

Still would be lovely not to go overdue - so back to bouncing on the birthing ball for me.

How's everyone else?

smileycat · 03/09/2009 19:07

no news from me yet, still getting periody cramps but no real contractions yet. Midwife advised me against the 3 hour drive to drop my son off at school tomorrow so really unhappy that I wont get to settle him in and he wont get to see his sister until we can get up in a wk or so to show her off to him unless she comes tonight that is then he'll have to start a day late.
I don't like this build up I would rather just go into the full blown contractions and get it over and done with. I feels like it does when you are heading for a really bad period when you get a couple of days of cramps before the real thing and the worst thing is I know its going to be a really bad period.......theres no getting out of that one

Heebychick · 03/09/2009 22:09

Hellooooo!

So sorry i've been radio silence, no reason just no time to get online really and trying to juggle a blackberry whilst feeding a fussy baby has it's difficulties!

Sooo excited for you ladies, and wow c1ndy lovely lovely news!!!well done honey.

smiley in a way i hope she does come tonight so he can show off for his first day, but i guess what will be will be. Lots of luck for when she does make an appearence!

I don't envy you guys on your final weeks, i found them so tough, especially if hot.

All is good here with us, we have had some feeding issues as in Gracie is choosing to enjoy bottles rather than me but we are keeping going in the hope it will improve. She saw an osteopath today as she seems to cry a lot when lying flat, he was lovely and she spent the whole session smiling and chatting with him!

xx

spats · 04/09/2009 17:19

I am walking with a waddle and the inside of my legs are aching Dont rememebr this last stage being so uncomortable. Random people are now asking when i am due so must be huge!! Was watching programme and had lady go into labour and suddenly panicked and thought oh god what have i done, i have to get this baby out and its going to hurt. I may just ask for epidural strainght away. Its the not knowing how the birth will pan out which is now worrying me, what happens if it suddenly becomes an emergency and there is panic etc. I guesss just have to go with the flow but am now slighlty nervous even though been throguh it before. Well must go do some dinner for my little men. Maybe we will see some action over the weekend from someone?? Pezz enjoy wedding and fuss you will get.x

smileycat · 04/09/2009 21:11

Hi ladies I am hoping this is the real thing for me now. I had a big show today and have been cramping regularly every 7 mins for the last 2 or 3 hours and they are slowly getting a little stronger, DH and I are chilling out on the sofa with a pot of ben & Jerrys and taking it easy ready for the big off if it all happens tonight. If the pains don't get any stronger in the next couple of hrs will try and get some sleep and hopefully things will progress so that she will be here in the morning......will keep you posted, wish me luck can't beleive we are actually going to meet our daugher any time now

spats · 05/09/2009 09:36

Good luck smiley

nelix2000 · 05/09/2009 16:09
