she is coming to assess in a min. they may decide to send me in. which i dont really want, but am not adverse to it if needs be. am happy with my choice of back up hospital.

LackaDAISYcal · 31/10/2008 09:55

try the shower spray on your back misdee, or a lavender wheat bag or hot water bottle if you have one. Is baby back to back?

I think I might have a UTI

LABOUR ALERT Pinkali has gone into labour - contractions started at midnights and she went to hospital at 6am. She has been in the bath and they have the pool ready for her to use. She has just had some dia morphine (not heard of it but thats what she says) for the pain.

Could be 4 babies today!!

LackaDAISYcal · 31/10/2008 10:16

Blardy queue jumpers

Good Luck PinkAli, thinking about you!

I hope her DH can postpone the lovely weekend that they had booked

OP posts:
sparkletoes · 31/10/2008 10:17

WOW!!! Ohmigod Pinkali too!!

This is fantastic news! Perhaps the impatience was a sign! SHame she will miss her weekend break but am sure she would rather have her LO!

Don't worry ChocO, one thing I CAN promise you is your time will come!

Diamorphine is used in some hospitals instead of Pethidine, I had some early on with DS as was too tired to cope with the pains. It was fantastic stuff!

LackaDAISYcal · 31/10/2008 10:18

diamorphine goooood ChocO......it's medical heroine and having had it when I had DS I can see why people get addicted after one fix.

It doesn't take the pain away; you just don't give a f*** that you are in pain anymore!!!

mum2becks · 31/10/2008 10:19

Wow another baby on the way!!!!!!!!!!

Same here chocO I'm due tomorrow and my text buddy is Saurus who is also now in labour and not due for another 2 weeks Exciting though

misdee · 31/10/2008 10:21

cervix still closed. feel a bit releived but a bit disappointed at the same time. midwife is mother of a boy i went through primary school with lol.

LackaDAISYcal · 31/10/2008 10:25

the best laid plans and all that for the text buddies....I tried to pair up folks that had a couple of weeks between to avoid this very thing happening

I have all the numbers still; if anyone goes AWOL, I'll be texting like mad

Looks like you'll get your homebirth misdee and have joined the ranks of the tricksy 3rd (and 4th) false labour club. We have a distinguished membership dontcha know

chocolategal · 31/10/2008 10:28

pinkali is in labour!!! OMG!!!

she is due the same time as me!! now what has she been doing, grapes, RLT, pineapple......sex!?? (wont bother with that one!) LOL!!

chocgal again desperately checks for jelly like blobs!!

lacks that is a very funny description of the diamorphine!
( i wont be telling my patients that tho!!)

misdee what did the mw suggest now? to just stay at home and wait and see?
must be very frustrating/exciteing!!

Heartmum2Jamie · 31/10/2008 10:30

Ahhh Misdee, not sure if I should be pleased or disappointed for you. I agree about the elite clube of tricksy 3rd, 4th and so on babiy club!

Wow, Pinkali will soon be holding her baby, I am totally jealous, lol!

I have just been into the chemist and all the staff were talking about my bump and arguing about whether it had dropped or not. Seems the consensus is, it has dropped, but he was high up last night, so I know he's not engaged. I then went into another shop, got asked when i was due and when I said I was overdue, almost everyone around me took a step back like they thought my waters might break all over them. Suppose I should just stay in the house from now until baby arrives then

Rosa · 31/10/2008 10:37

MOre Oct babies how lovely ... Misdee hope that contractions stop - unless something is really happening.
BH were stronger last night but its all quiet right now . DD has got to stay where she is for at least another 6 days !!!
Fiungers crossed for those in labour and hope all going ok .

LadyBuzz · 31/10/2008 10:38

Oh Wow Pinkali too how exciting. Its a good job it was last night and not while she was away!
Lacks I love that description of Diamorphine how very true I had it last time and then lost half a day DH said I was very polite though
Misdee how frustrating for you, hope it starts soon.
HM2J apparently you should not be out in public when you are this pregnant, I have made the mistake of sighing a couple of times and have had an instant OMG are you in labour, Felt like saying yes I am that is why I am shopping, I am THAT stupid!

Tinkerisdead · 31/10/2008 10:45

DAMN IT PINKALI I was at my reflexology last night, ive started dabbling with my helios kit, pumping my dry boobs and taking all manner of herbal crap..and she totally jumps the queue!!! Hmmph, sparkletoes where are you...we're losing the race babe!
Goodluck to missygoo, misdee and rutho too.

By the time i get mine around the 14th and i bet im late now, everyone will have had their babies and be saying "for gods sake Drs wife, this is a postnatal thread now..get lost with your is this labour postings!"

jealous jealous jealous. choc i think i will take you up on the offer of a baby boob and a bina for me!
dozy congrats on tallulah, totally love the name..im not allowed anything funky like that...im still pleading for Lydia but getting poo-pooed!

vbab78 · 31/10/2008 10:46

WOW 4 babies!!! Cant wait to hear some more news.

I'm due on Monday but this one seems really comfy so not going anywhere soon i reckon. Saying that just because of DS and me poorly probably not a good idea baby coming now.

Just fed up of doing the check down the loo to see if a show has turned up!

sparkletoes · 31/10/2008 10:46

LOL LadyBuzz!! Yes breathing deeply is not allowed in public when you are this PG! Medical advances are great these days, you can take something and still go shopping whilst in labour

cricri · 31/10/2008 10:49

Pinkali too, fantastic news!
Mum2becks and Choc I am due tomorrow too and getting very of all these babies but DH has just told me to hang on until we've been to see the Bond film tomorrow He plans to ask the cinema to give us a year's free tickets if my waters break in there
Misdee Sorry to hear that it's a false alarm at the moment - hope contractions either step up and become the real thing or go away again so you can have your hb.

sparkletoes · 31/10/2008 10:51

DocWife feel free to be next lovie (extends hand in chivalrous manner)...

I told DH I hadn't made up my hospital bag yet and he was like 'you better get a move on!' I don't see all the rush, am going nowhere haven't even started nesting...

Tinkerisdead · 31/10/2008 11:00

sparkle im not gonna have it today, im sooooo tired. I asked the reflexologist to do something to make me sleep. not worked. She worked on pelvis, pitutary gland etc and was so weird, i got sharp pains in cervix and huge braxton hicks as she pressed my toes but nothing else. Im so exhausted. i want the baby tomorrow so i can avoid Dh friends wedding and i can watch the charity fireworks display from my birthpool!

I think i order too much from Next, the delivery woman just came and said she thought i was having the baby yest as all my blinds were shut no im just lazy cow.

then she said please can i order something when the baby is born so she can come and have a look at it as she's been following the bump in its journey! where are my real friends??

sparkletoes · 31/10/2008 11:33

Tomorrow it is then DocW. I am tired too but not as bad as yesterday. DS came into our room at 05:30! However DH put him back in his room and he slept til 8am so that was a relief. I, however did not get back to sleep for ages...

I also order too much from Next and have just got my credit card statement in to prove it . I thought I had timed it so the payments would run over 2 months but they all came off this month!! Beans on toast for us.

sparkletoes · 31/10/2008 11:39

Real friends come over and do useful things like prepare you dinner and make tea once baby is here. If your MIL had any sense she would have offered her services in this way and you would be eternally grateful for her input...
