xposted again, Yo! Monkey, how's it going, chick - are you enjoying maternity leave? I'm going to the Bond movie even if I have to sit on an old towel and moo... Mm, Wet Daniel Craig!

Heartmum I think the race is on, matey. Although you do sound more definite than me!

PinkyMinky's piccies are on FB too, unless I am being fick and missed them earlier... TOO cute for words - Right, I'm gonna go and scope out Dozy's snaps!

MonkeyMargot · 30/10/2008 19:27

Yo yo yo rutho! Street monkey is loving MAT leave thanks - am amazed how the day just flies by! Have taken a penchant to baking scones...yum. (I'm a greedy gal).
Ooh - I am so going to see daniel craig this weekend. Just checked out showing times and we're considering seeing it at lunchtime to avoid the crowds...like old people already... hee hee.
OOh - am going to look up PinkyMinky's baby photos!!

ChocOrange05 · 30/10/2008 19:35

Congrats to Dozy, Tallulah and family. I'm pleased she got to use the name and obviously came out looking like a Tallulah!!

Soo jealous of all those with signs - I want some!!

LackaDAISYcal · 30/10/2008 19:37

Aw rutho, your description of the baby's feet has made me go all gooey as well

I think a show can range from clear jelly, to creamy coloured snot to blood streaked jelly or snot. It's just so glamorous.

More nasty BHs here tonight, but these I can feel really low down (almost in my foof iyswim) and is making my toes curl. There were some interesting noises coming from low down as well earlier......

Maybe virgil has a touch of the ole show business about him and is going to pander to his mother's love of musicals

...."climb every mountain"

Can someone please reassure me that even if I'm not having signs this baby could still be on time?!?! Saturday - please anyone!?!

ceebee74 · 30/10/2008 19:53

Big congratulations to Dozy and her family Can't wait to see the photos of Tallulah Grace - what a beautiful name.

Just had a look at the photo of Imogen - so cute and love the little toy in the cot

All this baby talk is making me very impatient!! And my baby's name is going to be quite plain in comparison to all yours but DH is very conservative so no chance of anything more exotic than Samuel!!

Did some baby/Xmas shopping today as it was payday! Bought DS a V-tech computer thingy that goes into the tv from Argos - should have been £40 but turned out they are having a promotion on of 25% off so got it for £30 - that is pretty much all of his pressies/stocking fillers bought now. Also did a big order for Studio cards so all my wrapping paper/decorations/table stuff should be coming soon - I don't think I have ever been this organised before!

DW completely sympathise about the situation with your MIL. The time after your baby is born is so precious that you are entitled to spend it in whatever way you like and you shouldn't feel guilty about that!! We are in a similar situation as I really wanted this Xmas just to be the 4 of us but as MIL is a widow and has nowhere else to go I have relented that she can come round for the day but is absolutely NOT stopping the night (although DH not v impressed with this) - I can't stand the thought of her running in to see what is wrong with the baby at 1am just because he is crying etc - which she would do!!

Very excited for those of you having shows/BH's/contractions - it really will be babies galore v soon!!

LackaDAISYcal · 30/10/2008 20:18

Can't give you that sort of reassurance ChocO.......baby will come when ready I'm afraid

Ceebee....I'm amazed at your organisation. Christmas seems like a lifetime away at the minute.

I'm going to watch Silent Witness and then have a bath....and get these BHs to stop. They are ruining my concentration on scrabble

Dug out this Contraction timer from last time for anyone interested

OP posts:
sparkletoes · 30/10/2008 20:38

(whispers) Choco I had none of these 'signs' last time prior to big day and DS still came on his D/Date!

However, it is also true that baby will come when it is ready to. All in good time...

vbab78 · 30/10/2008 21:03

vbab78 · 30/10/2008 21:12

Well I had a surprising good night's slept to say made up with bad cold. With the exception of a nasty cough starting at 6ish making it hard to sleep for me and DH.

DS seems better in himself today but still got diarrhorea and not eating apart from a sliver of toast which i got him to eat through being silly mummy. He also managed poor love to poo himself whilst sat in the bath this eve. That was nice to sort out. Of course DH got home late (surprise surprise) from work so I had to sort DS and clean the bath on my own. Sorry just feeling a little pitiful as really feel poorly with cold and nasty cough (always suffer with bad coughs) at 39wks whilst looking after an even more poorly but still energetic 2 year old and dealing with the daily stuff us ladies do.

Just want baby now and quickly! But got a feeling this baby is going no where and will hold onto me until nearly 42wks like DS.

vbab78 · 30/10/2008 21:30

rutho - james bond movie ... i would love to see daniel craig err the new james bond movie . Saying that probably not a good idea as I know I want baby to hurry up but I would probably get too exicted watching the film and have baby in the cinema!

ruthosaurus · 30/10/2008 21:59

Okay, ladies - I have now had 18 contractions today since 6:30 am and the last ones were 30 and 20 minutes apart! DH is being very good and has made tea, which we had about an hour ago (he is wettting himself a bit, bless him, and getting techy with the sopwatch on my phone). I keep saying to him that it could all just stop but they are getting closer together and more painful. So we'll see - I'll either be back on here later going "bollocks, they've stopped again" or I'll text my buddy!

Shit shit shit shit shit I'm a bit scared now - not that I'm officially admitting that because we all know that these are BH contractions, right? Waters not broken, so I just Do Not Know. Eek.

Love to all - keep your fingers crossed for me!

LackaDAISYcal · 30/10/2008 22:02

rutho...have a bath. If BH they will stop, if real they will keep going.

My waters didn't go until I was in established labour with DS so that's no real indication.

How very exciting.........take care sweetie and try to keep calm; adrenaline interferes with all the other good stuff that's going on

LackaDAISYcal · 30/10/2008 22:03

Am I the only woman in the country that just doesn't "get" Daniel Craig?

I just don't see the attraction.

OP posts:
ceebee74 · 30/10/2008 22:07

Saurus ooh best of luck overnight - will log on tomorrow morning for an update (of some sort).......maybe even news of Babysaurus's arrival

BTW, my waters didn't break with DS - the MW had to do it in hospital in the end so don't put too much emphasis on the fact they haven't!

MonkeyMargot · 30/10/2008 22:07

Lacks Daniel Craig is a total hottie! Yes - you are alone I feel.
Rutho wow - good luck - are you going to take the advice of lacks and take a bath? At the least, it might relax you?

Yorky · 30/10/2008 22:17

Good evening everyone, I am back home now with broadband so have spent hours catching up! Don't have the patience for mums slow internet!
Lying in bed with a laptop on my bump is the way to go!
Congratulations Dozy and Coolkat, I am very but must be patient as am not even 37wks till Sunday!
Had a lovely chat with Lacka earlier - we should swap books more often - homemade flapjack, mmmm! Her DS did so well entertaining mine, he slept nearly to Northampton! Which is good apart from it meant we nearly did the trip in one and when I got out of the car I'd 'set' and moving hurt! I must have looked completely decrepit! Made me appreciate my nice warm bath though
Saurus, sounds exciting!
DH is in a mardy mood tonight as they were supposed to be finding out postings today and now they won't know till bonfire night! Military organisation is rubbish.

Oblomov · 30/10/2008 22:22

Congratulations Dozy. Knew name. LOVE IT.

Rutho, hope things go o.k. Gut feeling ? would be surprised if you made it through the night. We'll see

LackaDAISYcal · 30/10/2008 22:44

Glad we could be of service Yorky

DD kept looking for your DS after you'd gone and was trying to tell DH about him when he got home....it was blah blah blah....your DSs name......blah blah blah.....your DSs name for ten minutes.

Finally I have found the cable for my camera, so I'll get a bump photo on tomorrow. I am very of Yorky's bump which is neat and lovely....where mine greets people about five minutes before I do!!

oooh, and I had a phone call from the head of midwifery earlier (how's that for personal service ). She is going to write up my care plan tomorrow and email me a copy to go in my hand held notes and put a copy in my hospital notes to make sure that everyone knows my wishes wrt my VBAC.

I'm seriously impressed with the service

ruth - things crossed for you.

I must admit if i thought i was in labour except for a slight panic and running around the house trying to sort out DS stuff and getting him to my mum's I WOULD HAVE A NICE AROMA (LAVENDER) BATH.

With DS it was the first thing the midwife's suggested on the labour ward and was fantastic. I think i was in the bath for a couple of hours and was able to manage the pain (at that point ) without any other pain relief. The smell of lavender always reminds me of that time and so I have bought some lavender bath stuff.

Although not sure how long I would have the bath for and how relaxed I would be being that I am supposed to be "trying" to get 4 hours of GBS antibiotics into me before baby born.

MummyNic · 30/10/2008 23:22

Oh Rutho I am very excited for you, fingers crossed that baby saurus is here when I log on tomorrow.

Congratulations Dozy - what a beautiful name. I hope the CS went well for you.

I wimped out of having my sweep today , mainly due to fear but also due to wanting to see James Bond - Daisy he doesn't do it for me, he's nice to look at but he has the personality of damp dog poo - I have yet to be impressed when he's being interviewed. Also, it's the last Grand Prix on Sunday and I am so worried that Lewis will cock it up again, I couldn't possibly miss it.

Going for the sweep on Monday now, being induced on Wed anyway so no real rush....

vbab78 · 30/10/2008 23:24

QUESTION - As I intend to bottle feed this baby anyone knows what happens straight after birth in terms of skin to skin contact, first feed and so on? Just that with DS I intended to breast feed so did skin to skin and fed him (i think he did anyway )? I love the idea of the closeness of skin to skin but dont know if would confuse baby.

Dont like asking the midwife for fear of pressure being put on me regarding breast feeding or getting bad mummy looks. Not even written my plans in my notes for fear she will read and judge.

LackaDAISYcal · 30/10/2008 23:25

Daniel Craig will have a lot to answer for; all these big wet patches left in cinemas up and down the country......and I mean waters breaking before anyone thinks I'm being rude

I hope you have a nice last free weekend mummynic

vbab, a lavender bath sounds just the ticket actually.....is it too late to have abath at this time of night?
