Calling all pregnant ladies in Blackheath/Manor Park/Lew

Hello! I'm new to mumsnet AND being a mum ? this is my first!! Am only 15+3 weeks. I live in Blackheath / Lew and was wondering if there are any pregnancy groups that I can join / attend other than the NCT classes (I might be too early for those classes?). Just a gossip coffee on a saturday morning with people in the same boat would be nice!

I often catch the train from Blackheath St and wonder if there are any other 15 weekers on the platfrom just getting over morning sickness!!

Im very accessible to Manor Park too.

Would love to hear from anyone

Em

Hello ladies, I hope you are well!

Im a soon to be first time mum - it's been a long time coming, and my son is due on 15th May.

I live in Hither Green and I'm looking into Antenatal classes. I've contacted the Blackheath NCT class, but Ive had a few recommendations about Bumps to Bubba in Greenwich. The original founder is on Mat leave and someone else has taken over so I dont know much about her. Greenwich is also a bit out of the way for me so I'd like something more local. Has anyone any feedback for the Blackheath NCT Class?

Your messages about a meet up sounds very interested and the temptation of a fishfinger sandwich in the Railway is a winner. Im imagining this large group of ladies in varying stages of pregnancy! Any more room for a little one? Well not so little anymore!

Looking forward to hearing from you

Paula

Hi Paula

You're right, we're the group of pillow smugglers drinking a weird and wonderful variety of soft drinks. Please come along and have a chat; between us I think we're attending every possible antenatal class/ course/ seminar etc in south London so there are lots of brains to pick. We've also got a full range of symptoms to commiserate over! I think I'm the furthest along, I'm due later this week

See you there!

se8mum · 26/01/2009 09:11

Hi all,
Have sciatica but will try to make it!
Hope you are al well

daisyj · 26/01/2009 11:40

hi Paula - I live in Lee so Greenwich is a little out of my way too, but DH and I are attending the classes run by Sofie Jacobs, who is taking clients for Tania from Bump to Bubba. Sofie is fantastic - well worth going to Greenwich for her classes, not to mention that they are nearly £100 cheaper than the NCT classes, which seem to have gone up to £279 . I can tell you more on Thursday, but in the meantime all her details are on www.sofiejacobs.com.

se8mum - ouch for your sciatica. Hope we'll see you on Thurs.

xx to all.

PaulaWilkie · 30/01/2009 12:29

Hi ladies, Im sorry to have missed your gathering in the Railway last night as I was so looking forward to meeting you all. Work has been a bit mental, I think they are trying to get the last drop out of me before my Mat leave, so Ive been overdoing it and was very sick yesterday. Must listen more to my body than my boss! I'd still love to meet you all so please keep me posted of any future gatherings.

I hope it was a great evening, even thought alcohol free! Have a great weekend.

Paula

Hello,

I currently live in Blackheath and am about to move to the Standard. I'm due on March 22nd and leaving work on 28th Feb. I was wondering if you have room for one more at your get together's as I would love to meet up with other pregnant women.

ToastnHoney · 31/01/2009 23:01

Hello - thought it was about time I stopped lurking! It was really great to meet you all on Thurs and nice to think there will be some familiar faces around once we're all on maternity leave. Let's try and do it again soon!

heverhoney1 · 02/02/2009 11:03

Hey all - anyone else utterly stranded? not entirely sure what I should be doing for the rest of the week. By chance I had today booked off but i am not fancying walking around on ice!!

Tupperwife · 02/02/2009 17:01

whispers I had a show this morning. Mr Tupperwife is even more freaked out than I am.

I'm obviously not in proper labour because I've just made a cake and managed to include all the ingredients in the right order. I am a bit worried that our road hasn't been gritted AT ALL; visions of a midwife crashing into next door...

helpivegottogivebirth · 02/02/2009 18:37

Blooday ada Tupperwife - how goes it?
Thinking of you....

ToastnHoney · 03/02/2009 13:57

Tupperwife - blimey, that is sooo exciting! Hope the midwives can make it to you - good job the equipment's already there. Keep us posted when you get the chance!

heverhoney1 - I'm stranded too as our road is like an ice rink and there don't seem to be trains going from Lewisham anyway (at least there weren't yesterday or this morning).

Luckily I have a work laptop so can get connected from home - would be way bored otherwise.

Did manage to slither my way to Hilly Fields (our most local park) yesterday with the help of DP's arm - amazing to see so many people with sleds and toboggans!

ellie732 · 03/02/2009 17:59

Thinking of you Tupperwife! Like Toastnhoney says, give us an update when you get the chance...!

I really enjoyed my day at home yesterday(supposed to be working from home, but in my case this meant I did NOTHING!). I think I was a bit zoned out though, because I went on the first half of this Hypnobirthing course my friend recommended on Sunday, which involved lots of deep relaxation etc. I'll withold my judgement on whether it works or not until after I've actually given birth - but I have to say, so far its given me the best nights sleep I've had in ages - and a slightly odd, but pleasant fuzzy feeling...

Hello PicturesJane - its so nice to hear about all these people nearby who are going to have babies soon!

se8mum · 04/02/2009 11:21

Good luck tupperwife!

cazinski · 04/02/2009 14:59

Ooooooh just logged on to read Tupperwife's news...what happened?? Did the midwife get to you on her sledge? Tell all! Surely something must have happened by now!! Arrrrgh the suspense, how exciting! Big love to you and Mr Tupperwife xxx

Tupperwife · 04/02/2009 20:19

I just posted my birth story on the childbirth 'planning a first homebirth' thread. I'll link to it later, Junior (no name yet is squawking so gotta go.

We're doing really well, we must meet soon so I can gush about how great it was!

helpivegottogivebirth · 04/02/2009 20:36

Hooray and Congratulations! Am off to read your story!

feb80 · 04/02/2009 20:47

Wah hoooo!!! Huge congratulations Tupperwife... the first one of The Railway-ers to drop! So pleased for you and Mr Tupperwife, and delighted the birth was great. Will seek out your story on the other thread. Looking forward to seeing you to hear all about it

xx

feb80 · 04/02/2009 20:56

Ooof - just read about the tears...

se8mum · 05/02/2009 06:01

so happy for you. Congratulations and hope to hear more soon

elk4baby · 05/02/2009 10:55

Hi all,

I'm new to the thread (and mumsnet actually). I'm due this April (anyone else on here?) and am located in west Greenwich (between Deptford and Greenwich actually). Anyone close by?

I'm still working full-time, but hoping to go on part-time in the office part-time at home, as the commute is a real killer (you're lucky to be able to get on the train in the morning, let alone having a seat - so playing the 'sardine' every morning).

What else? I have two pets to take care of - a cat and a husband , though the latter is a bit more useful around the house while the former is more suited for cuddles and kisses .

Hope you can welcome into the group, as it'd be nice to chat to others in the same boat.

daisyj · 05/02/2009 14:07

Ooh Tupperwife - congratulations . Will go and find your birth story now. Can't wait to meet up with you and junior v. soon. xx

daisyj · 05/02/2009 14:16

Oh, and hello to all the new people. The more the merrier .

This week has been so busy as well as miserable, I've only just had time to catch up.

I'd be up to meet before the end of the month if others are. How about next week or w/c 24 Feb?

xx

ellie732 · 05/02/2009 18:38

Tupperwife Congratulations!. I was thinking about you since I saw your post on Monday. So glad you and baby are doing well - bet he's beautiful.
Would love to hear how you are getting on - when you can spare a second!

elk4baby - I'm due April too! Live in Lewisham, (although we prefer to say "Blackheath Borders".)

Daisyj - not too miserable, I hope? Would be up for another meet up. Still at work at moment, but otherwise reasonably flexible! Don't know what times work for other people?
