Calling all pregnant ladies in Blackheath/Manor Park/Lew

Hello! I'm new to mumsnet AND being a mum ? this is my first!! Am only 15+3 weeks. I live in Blackheath / Lew and was wondering if there are any pregnancy groups that I can join / attend other than the NCT classes (I might be too early for those classes?). Just a gossip coffee on a saturday morning with people in the same boat would be nice!

I often catch the train from Blackheath St and wonder if there are any other 15 weekers on the platfrom just getting over morning sickness!!

Im very accessible to Manor Park too.

Would love to hear from anyone

Em

Hi guys!
Just found this thread and am so excited there are other blackheath mums-to-be out there. I'm due end March and have been reading mumsnet since we found out the news but it never really occurred to me to post! Now I'm really starting to think about next year and the challenges it will bring - sharing this experience with you all would be a great thing indeed.

Sorry to have just missed an oh-so-convenient gathering but if there will be others I'm there!

daisyj · 04/12/2008 13:11

Hi rosa - there will definitely be more, I'm sure. I reckon we should try to keep this thread 'live' so other people can find us. You're due the same time as me . Sounds like this is your first - if so, come and join us on First Time Mums expecting Spring Babies (and anyone else who fancies it, too). It's getting quite lively over there!

laumiere · 04/12/2008 13:35

Hi, Lewisham/Ladywell over here!

Am 28 with one DS with special needs (he's 2.5 now) and DS2 due in March. Am on maternity leave from 1 Jan so would welcome meet ups!

Tupperwife · 04/12/2008 13:59

I arrived home after last night to find my Dad had dropped round unexpectedly and Mr Tupperwife saying to him 'she's been in the pub, and has been gone for hours!'. So we should definately meet up again soon

The run up to Christmas is chocka, so how about another drinks in January? Maybe even a horribly girly film, given most of us go to Greenwich picturehouse already and there's safety in numbers when you're prone to getting emotional...

rosa7 · 04/12/2008 14:50

great idea tupperwife! both in terms of timing and place. I'm really looking forward to becoming a fully-fledged member of The Big Scream at the Greenwich Picturehouse once bub arrives so why not start early?!

The girlier film the better!!

daisyj · 05/12/2008 14:05

Sorry, meant to say thanks clon!

daisyj · 05/12/2008 14:07

tupperwife - good idea. 'She's been in the pub, and has been gone for hours!', eh? Whatever next!

Tupperwife · 18/12/2008 16:00

Slightly off topic, but I found the perfect venue for pregnant spectators this week; the Union Chapel in Islington. No alcohol in the venue itself, all seater, and they even sold mugs of proper tea to drink. Fan bloomin tastic

Is Twilight a girly enough film? I think a teenage vampire film is about as taxing as I'll be able to cope with, I'm not capable of absorbing a 'proper' plot any more.

I got the Picturehouse blurb through the post this morning, but it doesn't have screening times and dates in it. If they're showing it (or something equally undemanding) maybe we should look at dates early in January...

heverhoney1 · 19/12/2008 22:41

I like the idea of Twilight! and the idea of being around other preggers ladies I think my real life people are sick of it already lol!! (or asking dumb questions)

daisyj · 20/12/2008 09:55

Early in January's good for me (apart from the 9th).

x

SE13Mummy · 20/12/2008 23:42

I'd like to join in too... I live in Hither Green and have a DD who's just turned 4. Her sibling is due to arrive at the end of May and, thanks to the gap in ages, my original baby friends have gone on to have lots more so new baby and I are going to need some new friend.

heverhoney1 · 21/12/2008 11:45

um quick question though - how do we all recognise each other? for some the bumps will be obvious but I am fairly sure I just look like I have eaten too many mince pies (Am not the smallest of ladies anyway)

Tupperwife · 21/12/2008 14:09

At the Railway we were the only people not drinking! The ginger beer and lemonade was the identifying factor. I don't really look that preggers sat down even now at 34 weeks and apparently don't show at all from the back.

The bar at the Picturehouse is pretty open, assuming we go with the cinema thing, maybe we'll get a table reserved? Or one of us wears something distinctive (apart from the bump)?

se8mum · 22/12/2008 09:42

I can make it for Twilight...any dates yet?

rosa7 · 23/12/2008 14:21

Hi guys,
I'm keen for twilight too! Maybe we could all wear soemthing pink?!! scarf or ribbon or sthg?

Tupperwife · 24/12/2008 08:29

I love the idea of having to accessorise in a Mumsnet colour!

The Picturehouse are doing a couple of showings a day until 1st January. Is everyone around between Christmas and New Year? If so, how about Monday 29th? We might even be able to fit another drinks/ pictures in before I pop very early in February [selfish emoticon]

There's a showing at 6pm, or one at 8.50. I'd be inclined to go to the 6pm showing and then stay in the bar for a chat afterwards (I went to see It's a Wonderful Life at 8.30 last night and didn't get home till gone 11, very tired and quite grumpy today so keen to avoid late nights between Christmas and New Year!)

What do you ladies think?

daisyj · 29/12/2008 11:37

Hi, ladies. I can't do today (only just logged on to catch up!).

Like the idea of the pink thing, though tupperwife - do you think you'd still be up for cinema next week or week after - or are you getting too tired?

My antenatal classes start Tues 6th for six weeks, so Tues night is out, and I can't do the 9th, but any other day would be fine (although 6 is too early for me to get there from work...)

Tupperwife · 29/12/2008 17:43

There has been a deafening silence about tonight, so I'm assuming that some time in January would be better! I'm now on maternity leave so will make sure I get a proper nap in before coming out to meet everyone. Insomnia is back and nearly fell asleep at family bash yesterday, so I've got to start planning sleep better.

A Wednesday night some time? How about the 13th Jan? No Twilight but I'm sure there will be something suitably unchallenging for the pink wearing pillow smugglers...

heverhoney1 · 29/12/2008 20:57

Ah so sorry it seems I never see things untill its too late. A jan date would be great for me - maybe the 8th? or 12th?

rosa7 · 30/12/2008 11:55

Hi guys! Am back am back!
Really flexible on dates, and times!!
Was looking forward to the trash of starlight, won't ever manage to drag DH to a screening thats for sure
By the way - saw secret life of bees just before Christmas and just adored it! What a lovely flick.
See you all soon!!

helpivegottogivebirth · 30/12/2008 18:53

Sorry - i had read the 29th as january not December. More haste less speed.

I would prefer the 8th January - i'm then on holiday for a fortnight after that....

if we are going to the cinema, are we talking about the Picturehouse in Greenwich? or do we just want to go to a bar and talk about babies over a cranberry and soda?

se8mum · 05/01/2009 10:47

am back from my holidays!
I can do 8th or 12th

laumiere · 05/01/2009 13:09

My DH has just swapped to night shifts so won't be able to get out for 8th or 12th as will be on toddler duty. However, I'd love to have everyone over and meet you all in Jan or early Feb if possible?

Tupperwife · 05/01/2009 13:25

It's my first day of maternity leave and I'm already climbing the walls... so 8th, 12th, whenever, it's all good. attends opening of envelope emoticon

Shall we say the Railway again this week? They do good ginger beer and it seemed convenient for transport for lots of us last time

helpivegottogivebirth · 05/01/2009 19:36

let's do 12th - i've got an envelope opening to go to on Thursday now (otherwise known as a dull book launch)
Rilway Tavern was great before - looking forward to a catch up.
