Becaroo glad things have finally started, you must be relieved!

We've just decided on a name - it's Maebh (Maeve) Dana.

Hope to see you all soon on the PN thread!

oooops!!!
i ...err...guess i forgot to tell ya the more important news of the consult appt this morning!!

doc managed to double book himself with morning appts & being in theatre til 1pm..but managed to pop up in between patients. after an hour of waiting, DH walked off to find ((a very much needed) coffee and water for myself. and of course the doctor arrived while dh was away.

anyways, all is well with baby, he's head down, nice heartbeat, etc.
and i did have an internal as well! the doc had his glove on, jellied, in & out, glove off...in like 3 minutes flat!! and it was anything but uncomfortable . so for that split second, i wondered what all the fuss was about!

well, turns out he couldn't feel anything! no cervix, placenta, baby's head, nothing.
the boy is still sitting so high up. ((guess it goes without saying, no dilation at all)) nothing is in reach so a sweep obviously wasnt offered. Doc said the placenta isn't favourable for them to break the waters or to go full on with induction, especially since its a vbac situation.

so the options at this point:
i can wait it out til just before 42 week mark in hopes he decides its time.
OR i can book for c/s. now, with C/s the date options were for tomorrow (((which as i mentioned earlier, is ds1's bday)) or for oct 2nd.

discussed it with DH at the day unit office...((the coffee and fresh air seemed to have break him from his grumpy morning streak, thank GOODness)).

decided to book Oct 2nd for C/s for a couple different reasons: 1) DH took the deciding vote to avoid having both children with same bday 2) another week to allow him to make an appearance on his own. & 3) we'd really like to experience the element of surprise as to the arrival. ((ds1, elective c/s, so it was more so like going to bed and knowing we were going to be parents by lunchtime the following day!!))

annyyways, sorry this is so long, gals!
i'm off to bounce on the gym ball for a while!
hope all is progressing for those starting to leak!!

munki nice to have a decision and plenty of time for him to make a move himself.

I've been doing a guess the date/weight/sex thing on my facebook to keep me entertained. One of my friends has guessed 2 weeks late (as she was with her 2nd) and i just thought OH MY GOD- havent even considered the possibility of being that late!!! But its very possible isnt it? I guess that as ds was 8 days late I kind of thought that would be the latest it would be...

Am soooo hormonal today, have cried at neighbours and a soppy film on ch5

biglips · 24/09/2008 17:39

hiya all!...i havent read anything on here yet as im knackered cos ive noticed that DD2 sleeps during the day (ive been trying to wake her up and she falls asleep on 1oz of milk!!) and feeds thru the night so today i was abit evil and forced her to really cry out so hopefully she will start feeding in the day more....After she was born she wasnt interested in feeding till 8 hours later!!. She is a very contented baby too...not like my livewire DD1!! she is a very livewire..

Just a question....my DD2's weight at birth was 9lb 3 and a half oz....she is about 20 ins long but she is NO WAY is a 9lber baby as my DD1 was a 9lb 1oz (12 days late) and we felt she was a 9lber as big heavy baby but DD2 is a dainty small light baby, everyone had said that she is not a 9lb but more of a 7-8lb baby...even the midwife said it today! .......Midwife is bringing her scales on Friday to weigh DD2.....ive weighed her and she is roughly under 8lb!...

biglips · 24/09/2008 17:39

DD1 was 20 ins long too

MunkiMom · 24/09/2008 18:22

plus1M if i could find ch5 on the new sat system DH got, i'd probably cry watching neighbours, too. (( omg! did we just admit we watch neighbours? ))

((((psst! but i heard about the one that died yesterday)))

biglips how odd your dd2 was marked as being 9lb+ at birth and even you notice the significant diff from the 2. i suspect the midwife weighing her had her elbow leaning on the scales at time of birth .

star i'm hoping dh & i will get the experience of surprise and vag labour/delivery, regardless of what the doc has said. and i agree, the position could mean nothing at all (well, unless breech) cos they can stay high up til labour! just like in your case.

also i think i recall reading on a few pages back someone (cant remember that either) concerned about being overdue, and the baby continuing to grow and possibly having a massive baby due to being late...and my neighbour made the same comment just earlier so its getting me terrified. ((oh gaww!! am i going to have a 12 pounder at this rate?!?!?))
is it true?!?!

MunkiMom · 24/09/2008 18:25

almost forgot!!
congrats to splish! sounds like a super fast labour/delivery!
can't wait to hear the story!

becaroo good luck, hun!! so pleased this is finally happening for ya!

foxytocin · 24/09/2008 18:25

Glad others liked the cheeky name for the new thread. If I am not around later to start the new one, just go ahead.

Evening all, and congratulations on the births!
Well I've been having lots more BH with accompanying period-type pain. I had a few overnight last night that I had to breathe through and it totally freaked me out that I won't be able to cope with labour. I remember telling myself in my head in labour last time "this is more painful than you had ever imagined, don't do it again!" and now I'm wishing I'd believed myself because I just don't want to go through it. I'm also worrying about dd as she's really a mummy's girl at the moment (for the first time in her life!) and very jealous if I'm holding another child. I know it'll do her good, and I'm blessing her with a sibling, but right now I just want to wrap her up in cotton wool and snuggle her forever and have nothing ever change.
I'm so worried that I'm gonna make a mess of labour, from how my body feels it wouldn't surprise me if I have this baby by the end of the weekend, the very thought of which makes me start to hyperventilate. I want to be one of those people who's calm and in control and breathes through the pain but I'm convinced I'll be a screaming banshee.
Sorry for the moan. I am at least finding the birth stories mighty encouraging!!
Love the suggested new thread title too

carrieon · 24/09/2008 20:17

MissusH · 24/09/2008 20:17

Hi All, more babies hurrah &

It is getting very lonely on the still waiting list - I'm sure I saw tumbleweed drift past a while ago!!!

munki we could have our babes on the same day - I'm being induced on the first but mw says it could take until the 2nd for babe to finally make an appearance!!

MunkiMom · 24/09/2008 21:05

hahahah! yes yes, the tumbleweed you saw earlier is just passing mine...

carrieon · 24/09/2008 21:13
