I'm liking the sound of the least work Mel! Did you get yours at the supermarket?

MelT76 · 13/09/2008 09:40

Yeah I did. Less than £1 I think too!

minkersmum · 13/09/2008 10:03

Hi... sorry change of subject here but has anyone had or does anyone get really a sore stomache, almost like period pains/constipation feeling?? For past 2 days i've had terrible crampy pains in tummy, and when i sat down it feels like someone is shoving a melon up my arse... sorry tmi but its really uncomfortable, been woken up a few times during night with it too.

Thing is i'm not constipated at all and altho i am getting tightenings with this i don't have a clue whats going on. Did wonder last night if it was a pre labour thing but still exact same this am. My last 2 labours were clear cut (37 and 38 weeks)- waters broke, contractions started and a few hours later out came baby. Now i'm almost 40 weeks and this! Any suggestions what it could be... wondering if the melon feeling is just the head as its very low, has been only 1/5 palpable for over a week.

Sorry so long! x

Good morning! Posting to get on the new thread - can't believe we got through the last one in 8 days...

Down to single figures in days to go now - scary! No signs here yet

ninja · 13/09/2008 10:23

I don't know minkersmum but I'll keep my fingers crossed that it is pre-labour

mum2bagain · 13/09/2008 10:28

Mumiyumi Congratulations.....

My husband left the house this morning at 6.30 and won't be back till 10pm to photograph a wedding. He's been praying LO will stay in here till tonight. I've felt like poo since Thursday, so fingers crossed.

Still sat in nightie with panda eyes, DS 1 & 2 playing around the house, maybe I should get us ready at least - feel really lazy!!!!!

Congratulations Mumiyumi, lovely birth story

Lolli, your nursery looks lovely, and I am trying to use it as inspiration to achive some kind of order in the house this weekend, as it looks like a cross between a building site and a squat. I don't even have a sofa any more, and nowhere to put 1 at the moment. Dd wanted to get up at 5.30, and although I managed to get her to stay in bed til 7 by putting on her lullaby cd a couple of times, I am tired now, and just want to go to bed again. Hopefully p will entertain dd over the next couple of days while I do some work around the house.

I don't think baby can be on the way though - definitely no desperation / enthusiasm to nest / clean / tidy, just a despondent feeling about how much needs doing!

minkersmum · 13/09/2008 10:35

Thanks ninja hope it is a sign of something happening soon altho have to say i do prefer the more definite pattern of the previous two. This not knowing what is happening is torture.

blimey · 13/09/2008 10:37

minkersmum , if you haven't got loose bowels ie tummy bug I reckon that's prelabour and head down. Good luck!

Mamamufin well done for moving list, I didn't really clock the responsibilities of a new thread maker! never having done it before in antenatal clubs

mumiyumi many congrats!

LeonieD it means 3/5ths palpable above pelvic brim, so 2/5ths in your pelvis.

HTH

lollipopmother · 13/09/2008 10:51

Minkersmum - I would say that your body is getting ready for labour too, the period pains and back ache may be signs of you becoming dilated?? I've been walking round 2cm dilated and haven't had any pain yet, but I know that period pains and back ache is definitely signs that labour is on its way.

Splish - Thanks! I love the nursery, we've had it done for months. It wasn't until it was all finished that I realised that we're going to be using a Moses Basket, so really there's no need for a nursery right away, but it was fun doing it anyway although at the time I was a hormonal mess and ended up crying twice (one because the hooks on the door weren't straight, another because MIL was 'taking over', ie she did the boarder!!).

I washed the toys last night, most of them now have water in them, but I expect it'll dry up over the next year or so! I even managed to put two battery ones in by mistake and they still work, so that's something!

Leonie - I'm sure I've read that subsequent babies don't necessarily engage at all til labour, so wouldn't worry, and i think Starlight said that Katrina was born an hour after being 3/5, so don't give up hope yet! (although that said I was disappointed to find i'd gone from 3/5 engaged to 2/5 engaged in a week)

Being inspired to prepare more for baby, I thought I'd begin with something simple - a little online ordering - but haven't even managed that. Ages ago someone posted a link to calin bleu slings, and I think they look lovely, tried to order but all sold out .

So back to plan B - a little lie down before tackling the mammoth tasks ahead. Including finishing packing my hospital bag perhaps

lollipopmother · 13/09/2008 11:34

Leonie - Splish is right, 2nd babies don't always engage until you're actually in labour so it's not such an obvious indicator in 2nd pregnancies.

biglips · 13/09/2008 11:36

Mumiyumi - many congrats

oooh im having really uncomfortable period pains on my back and lower front...plus im emptying my bowels more than ever. For every kick is a painful kick!...ouch!!

hopefully · 13/09/2008 11:37

Congrats Mumiyumi! Sounds like an ideal birth.

I am . I have woken up with 3 stretchmarks, having had literally not a single blemish so far. I am so depressed, as have been counting my lucky stars that I've avoided them. If I'd been on time I wouldn't have had any at all. Want to cry, feel like I've totally sacrificed my body and don't even have a baby to make up for it yet. Am being totally hormonal and unreasonable, but still sad!

biglips · 13/09/2008 11:37

leonieD - my notes say 3/5 (relation to brim)...whatever that means??

biglips · 13/09/2008 11:39

hopefully...only 3 stretchmarks!!!....i got loads from my first pg and none this pg...it will fade away eventually after you have the baby. ive just got tiny ones that you need to look closer to.

Hi Ladies

I haven't posted in ages, but have tried to keep up with the threads when possible. They do move very quickly.

Congratulations to all the birth announcements, it certainly makes it feel more real to read your stories.

All going well here and am slowly getting things sorted with 10 days to go. My mum arrives from Australia on Friday so am hoping nothing happens before then. Especially with DH away for 3 days at the beginning of next week and no family close by to look after DD in case of an emergency! Apart from some fairly painful BH's in the evenings recently I haven't really had much indication that anything is going to happen anytime soon - but you can never tell hey...

Anyway, good luck everyone and I will update the list shortly with my countdown details.

minkersmum - yup I think period pains and the 'melon' sensation are really common at this point. The baby's head is probably sitting very low down. I got period painy last night and thought how cheesed off I would be not to get my two weeks of time to myself having just started y maternity leave. But I feel fine again today. Phew. Pre-labour is a nuisance - but here's hoping it makes the real thing a doddle!

Our kitchen is nearly there ... it now has a floor, and the electrician is here fixing sockets and lights. So the end is really in sight. We still have a hole in the back wall where the lintel needs changing, but I'm kind of ignoring that!

Dp has even promised to get our baby clothes and real nappies out of the loft today. Not cutting it fine at all with 2 weeks to go!

jearund · 13/09/2008 13:47

Munkimum we don't know for sure that there's been a 3 day gap - as lollipop said we haven't heard from gothic or notcitrus for a bit so could still be in hospital.....

Mumiyumi congratulations on a great birth! Pretty name too.
