Oh - i do that bit! Just add your details to the intro thread on the discussions board, and when i get on fb, i'll add you.

rosieposey · 11/09/2008 15:53

Pinktulips i dont know if i had diabetes for sure before the doc just reckons that because my fasting result was so high that its probable - only will know for sure after my little man is born. Im getting depressed without chocolate or cakes - its not natural for me mind you i did go to Tesco today and buy some sugar free fruit tella so that i could pretend i was being naughty and eat so called sweets. I want chocolate though and im sure i heard a rumour that Thorntons did diabetic toffee mind you ill ive also heard that the ingredient that replaces the sugar gives you the raging s**ts so i will only be partaking of the odd treat as i dont want my poor lo to get a sudden horrid influx of sorbitol or whatever the hell that crap is that they put in. Jaffa cakes ... sigh

TinkerBellesMum · 11/09/2008 15:57

I meant the WHOLE truth lol

onwardandupward · 11/09/2008 16:24

Oh, rosie - it's xylitol they use in sugar free chocolate, and it is indeed seriously laxative (great way of getting a constipated child moving again eurgh TMI) but the wonderful wonderful thing about xylitol is that it CLEANS YOUR TEETH!!!!! I kid you not. So it's chocolate which is good for your dental health.

Not that I ever eat it (I'm totally off chocolate at the moment. the prospect of the sugar high and subsequent low just makes me shudder with horror)

PinkTulips · 11/09/2008 16:26

there is diabetic choc available in some health shops but i'm not sure what it would taste like tbh.

mslucy · 11/09/2008 16:28

poor you, roseyposey.
I'd feel like that if I couldn't eat curry, cheese or drink tea.
I have to do a GTT in a few weeks time because I have diabetes in the family and ds was a very big baby (my hospital does routine tests if a baby is over 4kg.

Just had 20 week scan (at 19 weeks and 1 day) and it was all fine.

I have a gorgeous pic which I will be putting on facebook as soon as dh scans it into the computer.

I was very worried as the 12 week scan was awful - had borderline nuchal and referred for extra tests.

But everything in working order and Stanley (can't think of him as anything else these days) is in extremely fine fettle.

I am so in love with him!!!

rosieposey · 11/09/2008 16:36

Oh god id rather not be able to eat chocolate than not eat curry mslucy lol i am the curry queen! putting away at least two madras' bombay aloo and mushroom rice a week (thats not including the other types of curry that i eat - he he its not wonder that between curry and chocolate that im a bit on the hefty side!) Glad all went well with the anomoly scan - still got mine to come but i was staring (as was the experienced sonographer) for ages at my lo yesterday and he look alright to me - roll on 20 weeks.

Ill go and have a look for some chocolate with xylitol in it as i can manage on a square a day and it shouldnt play up my tummy too much on that dose and it should sort my consipation out totally ... lucky lucky DP

TinkerBellesMum · 11/09/2008 16:37

Hotel Chocolat don't do diabetic chocolate but have a diabetic policy (can't remember it, just remember reading it and thinking it was interesting) and they do the best ever chocolate!

mslucy · 11/09/2008 16:39

my bowels are like concrete despite my very high fibre diet (I actually like fruit and veg and eat lots).
Poos are very unimpressive at the moment - unlike DS who's stools are positively man-sized for a 3 year old.

lardybump · 11/09/2008 16:46

evening everyone hope you are all well. I have been out today and got some nice maternity jeans.

My bowels are also like concrete (hope no one is eating tea) and I also eat lots of fruit and veg and am taking fibogel..... not good.

rosieposey · 11/09/2008 16:52

Mmmm i love hotel chocolat too - must look into that! Lardy im on the ole fibogel - i wanted the orange flavour but the chemist had run out - alas it was not to be

mslucy · 11/09/2008 17:06

pic of stanley now on facebook.
The sonographer thought he looks like me!
I think he is FAR better looking!!!

dinkystinky · 11/09/2008 17:15

Goodness, I spend a couple of hours doing some actual work and you guys spring to life!

Lardybump - try adding prunes to your fruit intake. Works for me every time!

MrsY - glad the interview went well (amused at the celebratory KFC!). Its the Marie Mongan book with the CD I got (which has birthing affirmations and relaxation stuff on it) - really recommend it.

In between packing tonight will see if can get on to Facebook, set up an account and apply to join the group - though may need to wait for a week till I get back from states and over jet lag and jet lagged toddler...

dinkystinky · 11/09/2008 17:16

Also, welcome back to the thread Dizzy and congrats on your scan MsLucy - glad all was good with Stanley.

mslucy · 11/09/2008 17:34

Stanley is king of all that he surveys.

Really looks like he owns the place.

lardybump · 11/09/2008 17:40

Oh prunes I will try that thank you....

mslucy · 11/09/2008 17:46

I find dried apricots can also do the biz, although there is a fine line to be crossed at your peril

lardybump · 11/09/2008 18:09

Right prunes and apricots tomorrow then... I will cross that line if only once....

KazzaL · 11/09/2008 18:21

laidbackinengland - just requested to join FB group and noticed your real name & pic - you didn't used to live in worthing & go to the 16th worthing guides (my mum was the leader)?

KazzaL · 11/09/2008 18:25

and even more freaky is that I have a mutual friend with markstretch - it's small world

laidbackinengland · 11/09/2008 18:26

Yes tis me Karen ! Small world ...Don't out me on here though.....I try and pretend my 'yoof' was uber cool and full of glue sniffing round the back of St Georges church NOT being a good girl at Brownies . How are you ?

spottyshoes · 11/09/2008 18:31

No no LB - take the Thorntons Chocolates route instead! Much more pleasurable! You do have to eat at least 10 in one sitting to get any effect tho . Must be catching, I am also suffering a bit so am going to stock up on the chocs tomorrow!

Good news for most tonight then, interviews anomoly scans. Glad all went well.

Hi Dizzy, welcome back! Good luck with the packing Dinky!

Was thinking Yum at MS's Macaroni until I read Tink's cold and greasy one and now feel slightly queasy

lardybump · 11/09/2008 18:34

Oh chocolates do sound good spotty......... I am such a pig so any excuse...

TinkerBellesMum · 11/09/2008 18:39

You realise we're all going to be outted on FB with our names under our real names on the group, it's posted to our profile.

Who said we'd talk less on here if we have the FB group? I think we're just finding more to talk about because we can break up our messages a bit.
