I have some FB qu's - I know I really am crap!

Firstly what is an officer and how is it different to member?

And secondly what is the protocol re addressing each other? Do we talk in real names over there or stick to MN nn's?

TinkerBellesMum · 11/09/2008 18:46

Probably best to use real names cause we'll forget who we're talking to or just a mix depending on what's right at the time.

An officer can approve new members, not sure if there's anything else they can do

spottyshoes · 11/09/2008 18:47

Really Tink Oh no I dont want my DH or family to know my NN!!! I bitch about them on here far too much for that!

Can we not have intials like TBM and SS?

Crap that wouldn't work if there are more than 1 of each

TinkerBellesMum · 11/09/2008 18:53

You may be able to delete them from your news feed and hope no one has seen it yet.

onwardandupward · 11/09/2008 18:54

Just go to your newsfeed and there is a little edit button to the RHS of anything you've done. Go to the one which says "Mary Smith ("bitchy MN lady") was made an officer of the Mumsnet Fab Feb Facebook Obsessives group" and click edit and then click "delete, delete delete". This way, you can retain your incognito. It's a closed group, so noone except us can see inside, I don't think. Unless the officers all appear on the public listing. Maybe someone had better hack into their Dh's facebook account to check...

oooggs · 11/09/2008 19:33

MarkStretch · 11/09/2008 19:41

mrsy · 11/09/2008 19:53

Hi all.

i have the GTT in a few weeks as well, as I'm curvacious - in the true Marilyn Monroe sense of the word! Also having the anti-D. Has anyone else got the rhesus thing?

MarkStretch - it's 'Shit Food Day' all round, I think!

chilledmama · 11/09/2008 19:56

hello everybody...how is everyone?????

hope all well and squirmy

mslucy · 11/09/2008 20:34

yep.

I have the rhesus thingy too - type O negative.
It's a bit of a pain (in every sense) having the extra injections, but you only have to have a couple and they do keep the baby safe.

I had the GTT with ds and they found nothing wrong - would be surprised if there's a problem but they have to check cos there's diabetes in the family.

The sugary drink is completely gross, esp since you have to have nil by mouth beforehand.

re: facebook group. no one can see anything unless they're a member, so I wouldn't worry about privacy issues.

Am loving looking at all the scan pics.

I have some lovely pics of ds on my mobile which I must upload asap.

herbgarden · 11/09/2008 20:53

Hi everyone
I'm on facebook but at the moment am in between a house move and a holiday pack and ds has just decided that sleeping at lunchtime is a not going to happen so my time is so limited I'll need to face that "task" in a few weeks ! Only just have enough time to read through mumsnet ! DS has also taken to waking at 5.30am so I am permanently knackered.

Anyone else got a 20 week scan in a couple of weeks?? I'm getting a bit nervouse again like I was with the 12 week scan...

I've had a piggy day today and me and dh managed to demolish most of a roast chicken tonight which apparently should have been for 5....DH announced that he seems to be losing weight so he should really have a couple more roasties....I didn't feel I needed an excuse so had some more anyway.

I'm going off to bed soon - at least then I get a half decent nights sleep before ds wakes up ( I yell at him through the baby monitor which I switch on when I hear him wake up...mean mummy).

dinkystinky · 11/09/2008 21:02

Right - MrsY have joined facebook and applied to join (mush23 email: moushumi name) so guess its time to get back to the packing... Thanks for your kind packing thoughts Spottyshoes - every little bit helps

Herbgarden - hope all goes well with the house move.

Speak to all you guys in just over a week's time (am sure you'll be on at least board no 7 by then)....

MamaGoose · 11/09/2008 21:11

Hello

I'm also rhesus negative but (after much panicking by hospital and midwife as was having probs with DS2 then in utero) I found out that DP is also rhesus negative (he had to go and have a blood test basically). Therefore all our children will be and I don't have to have the jabs! Great relief to me because baby safe and I HATE needles so no unnecessary injections.

I have requested to join the facebook group (I think?!).

20 wk scan yesterday and all fine. Oh was so amazing. Baby sucked its thumb at one point. DS1 excited but DS2 then pooed his pants. Not so great, but at least he's honest. DP and I know the sex - thought DP was going to cry, and I've been walking round smiling like a cheshire cat I'm so happy! But we're trying to keep it a surprise for everyone else. Let's see how we do! And I guess they do get it wrong sometimes....?

mrsy · 11/09/2008 21:33

mslucy - i'm o neg too! i wish they'd have tested john. if he's neg too then i wouldn't have to have a big nasty smelly injection - i'm really not good at needles. i had to have blood tests twice a cycle for the last 18 months - i could have killed the bloody nurse by the end of it!!!

will just pop on fb and accept you all, then will head to bed...

night-night!

thehouseofmirth · 11/09/2008 21:34

I'm jeaous of all of you who've had your 20 week scan. Mine's not for another 4 weeks when I'll be 22 weeks and it feels like forever. MamaGoose will you be able to keep the sex a secret? I went to see a friend on Wednesday who'd had her scan the day before and maintained she and her DH weren't going to tell anyone and I managed to get it out of her in about 15 minutes!

mrsy re Facebook: I?m, Louise.

Rosey congrats on having a boy, they are lovely! What about dark chocolate? I thought that had no or little sugar?

Dinky another really good book is this one by Janet Balaskas and although it's a bit lentil weavy I really liked this one too

Now, can anyone recommend a good book for preparing me for a C-section?! Looks like I'm going to be advised to have one this time after my third degree tear last time. Not happy about it but then the alternatives (prolapse, incontinence) don't appeal either!

pluto · 11/09/2008 21:43

Please think of me. Quad test results weren't on the right side of 250 (190) so now I have the whole amnio saga to worry about. Feel awful - but I know I also need to keep a lot of perspective on this too as obviously the results could be a lot worse. Anyway, I'm not going to start repeating what I've written in another topic on the pregnancy board but thought I would let you know so you can be keeping it all crossed for me.

mslucy · 11/09/2008 21:49

Pluto.
My combined bloods and nuchal were 1 in 200.
I had a CVS and they found nothing wrong.
I know it's a nightmare but the likelihood is that you will be ok.
I will keep absolutely everything crossed for you.

mrsy · 11/09/2008 21:51

pluto - will keep everything crossed, i'm sure you'll be fine. when is the amnio planned for? don't forget it's just an increased chance based on the odds for you age and background etc. so it's a long way of being anything like a diagnosis (but i'm sure you know that already). xxx

TinkerBellesMum · 11/09/2008 21:57

lol mrsy I hated needles first time I got pregnant, number 4 now, second time of daily jabs I'm over it now lol - I'd gotten over my fear before I had to inject myself though. Only thing I don't like now is other people injecting me - I woke up one morning with a MW trying to inject into my arm while I slept! I haven't got enough fat on my arms to inject there, I do it myself and I was asleep! That's assault! I wish I'd had enough about me to complain.

rosieposey · 11/09/2008 22:01

Hi Pluto - will keep it all crossed for you ok but like you said thats not a terrible result (mine was much higher with DD2 and i had the amnio and it was fine - it was the triple test though) Just arm yourself with all the info you need to make informed choices - the hospital will hopefully get you seen really quickly - fingers crossed for you hun xx

swampster · 11/09/2008 22:19

I'll be thinking of you too, pluto. My combined results were fairly grim - 1:170. Felt awful until I'd decided not to have CVS or amnio. Feeling very zen right now.

swampster · 11/09/2008 22:57

thehouseofmirth: I posted some stuff about the sound of crunching cartilage here recently but other mums have been on giving rather more useful advice about preparing for a CS.

spottyshoes · 12/09/2008 07:35

Morning everyone

Well done Mama Goose, we are doing the same. We've be getting in practice by saying both she and he at random times when we refer to the bump as I know I'll slip up otherwise!

House, when we knew I had to have a CS DH bought me a CS recovery belt from ebay. It's a bit like a bum bag that has lots of different inserts, soft pads, bag of cherry pips that you heat in the microwave etc to protect your scar area. It was v useful to protect from DS kicking it when bf! It came with a book all about what to expect and best ways to aid recovery and even some appropriate exercises I never did did after 4 weeks. I found it very useful and didn't bother buying another book. If I can find it when we dig out the baby stuff in the loft after the scan in the next few weeks I'd be happy to send it to you.

I'll have my fingers crossed for you Pluto and hope everything goes well. x

Singingintherain · 12/09/2008 08:31

Hi, All,

Sorry not posted for a couple of days. Too much has been going on here. DD2 has been away with school and I have spent the whole time worrying if she is alright. The weather has been terrible for the last two days and she is on a working farm. Also been sorting our house out in England as we have to do some repairs and we can not oversee the work done, being out here. I have to let my mum do it for me. At least I can trust her to make the right choices.

Anyway, had my 20 week scan last night. Everything is good and measures perfectly for 19 weeks, whcih I am. We could see finger tips and toes. We had a lovely shock though as the Doctor said "we have already told you it is a girl haven't we". We laughed saying we had been told it was a boy a few weeks ago. She was completely still during the scan so he managed to get all the measurements he needed and do all the necessary checks. The heart was really amazing as he used colour to show the supply moving around. I am pleased that I kept telling myself it was only a guess at that time. All DH said was "Oh well. I suppose I won't get my train set now". We all just laughed. I already have 2 dd's and really did not mind at all.

I called my mum and she says she has a lot of returns to make. It seemed she was pleased it was another girl and very excited in helping choose a name. I decided to have a go on the name generator page and it came up with one that I just love and I hope my family like it. My mum helped me choose my first dd, but I chose the other. I don't want to change my mind.

On the sleeping thing. It is very hard to get comfortable. I can not lay on my back as I can not breath very well and if I lie on my side I end up rolling to almost a frontal position, and at this point I can feel loads of kicking which is odd when you are trying to sleep.

MamaGoose · 12/09/2008 09:14

spottyshoes - I am going to try and keep it a secret! Alternating the pronoun is a good idea otherwise we will definitely slip up - we've already started using the relevant he/she between ourselves! We didn't find out the sex with the other two - I knew DS1 was a boy from the moment I found out I was pregnant, but DS2 was tricky. I was kind of surprised when the big balls emerged! But because this is our third and last I wanted to know for myself.
