I'm so relieved that I only ever felt sick and didn't actually ever be sick - I feel so sorry for you poor ladies who've spewed in places like supermarkets! Must've been awful.

My DP bought me a present the other day of a support pillow from Mothercare. It's very long so basically you can use it in lots of different ways to support you when you sleep. I'm finding the best use for it at the moment is between my legs as my hips and thighs have started to hurt when I sleep. But you can also use it to support the bump, and also bend it into an upside down V shape and lean on it whilst watching tv or sleeping later on when you're ginormous. It wasn't cheap (£27.99) but I'm finding it really useful so far.

I'm struggling today, I couldn't sleep from about 4.30am and my mind is most definitely not on work.

mrsy · 11/09/2008 12:08

The worst part is that although I have a bump, I'm quite chubby, and when I'm bent at the waist, I really don't look pregnant, so people just assume I'm pissed at eleven am!

Well, I'm off to a job interview - wish me luck (not least that my trousers will stay up - the elastic's gone, and they're my only pair of work-style trousers I can get into!!)

dinkystinky · 11/09/2008 12:19

Good luck MrsY - with the job interview and with the trousers!

Have just finished reading Marie Mongan's hypnobirthing book and am now started on Childbirth without Fear - so wish I'd read these before giving birth to DS. Definitely recommend them to anyone who is considering an active birth or who is considering their options generally about childbirth - both written in a very easy to read style (though wouldnt read the first chapter to the hypnobirthing book if you're feeling emotional - had me bursting out in tears on the tube!)

spottyshoes · 11/09/2008 12:25

Urgh I empathise with the sick in public. I carry a placcy bag with me everywhere (or nappy bags as I have been caught out by the ones with tiny holes in the bottom )

I have just come back from the MW and heard the HB which sounded neither like a train or horses MW couldn't tell either. Oh well, better wait until the scan in 3 weeks!

Laptop is playing up and crashing so I'd better go get DH to sort it out.

Good luck Mrsy
x

swampster · 11/09/2008 12:28

Last time round I managed a neat little barf into my hands and on to my shoes on the escalator at the tube station . Took me by surprise!

america · 11/09/2008 13:04

How about this for embarassement. I have a very sore neck and have to go and see an osteopath. It's just that I wasn't expected to see anybody today and am wearing my pre-pregnancy trousers (held up by a piece of string and zip open) under a long t-shirt and a jacket. How am I going to look half decent in front of this young man?

TinkerBellesMum · 11/09/2008 13:33

Last time I got a pillow with micro beads in it, they're sold from stalls inside shopping centres and they do neck pillows and animal shapes. It was cheaper than the MC one or any of the other maternity shops.

dinkystinky, you might like The Waterbirth Book too.

spottyshoes · 11/09/2008 13:35

Ooooo Ooooo Ooooo!!!!

I just joined a FB group all on my own without my hubby doing it for me! I'm a genious

And wow MS - youre a bit gorgeous aren't you!!!??? My 1st MNFB friend - yay

MarkStretch · 11/09/2008 13:54

I was about to say the same about you spotty! I love your hair, it's looks far silkier than mine.

Questionkid · 11/09/2008 14:05

I'll get on Facebook tonight and add my info as my mean work has blocked it.

america - I can relate to your embarrassment today but in a slightly different way. I've got New Look office maternity trousers on and they keep falling down and taking my knickers with them. I literally have to hold them up as I walk along. I think I may have to go shopping for a new pair of work trousers at the weekend...

Is it wrong that I'm eating chocolate because it seems to make the baby move and then justifying the chocolate eating by saying that I need to know that the baby's still moving?

MarkStretch · 11/09/2008 14:12

Questionkid- I have just eaten an entire packet of Jaffa Cakes if that makes you feel better?

Belch.

OP posts:
swampster · 11/09/2008 14:24

I have one day in the office (today) when I stuff being virtuous and stuff myself full of things I can't eat in front of the kids - crisps, pot noodles, large quantities of chocolates, sweets, biccies, coke... Feeling a trifle bloated!

Questionkid · 11/09/2008 14:28

Ha ha, brilliant, love the fact that I'm not the only one stuffing their face. My twisted mind has also managed to convince me that the fact that my maternity trousers are falling down is in fact a good sign, and one that allows me to have more chocolate. Nothing to do with the fact that they're cheap and badly made, oh no, not at all.

Mmmm, Jaffa Cakes, want some now.

MarkStretch · 11/09/2008 14:29

I am making macaroni cheese for dinner.

Mmmmm comfort food.

Will have to spoil it with some steamed veg though to make up for the amount of processed crap I have eaten today.

OP posts:
McDreamy · 11/09/2008 14:30

MMmmmm macaroni cheese

PinkTulips · 11/09/2008 14:45

grr. yet again had a huge post written and the pc has eaten it [sob]

i may have to take to posting after each sentance if this keeps up, i can never be bothered to type it all again!

rosie, boys are lovely, so cuddly and loving. and boy toys are the job!

sorry about the diabetes possibly being more than pregnancy related though, was it a shock or did you have suspicians?

questionkid... i'm using the fact that i'm not as fat as i thought as an excuse to eat my bodyweight in sweets and chocolate

nadssss · 11/09/2008 14:51

Okay thank you for the good news on the sleeping front ? will enjoy my final two weeks of on-the-back sleeping. Then I will stop grumbling (about everything)
On the food front ? I am really embracing the guilt free carb binging. Never have I had bread for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Bliss. Macaroni cheese ? mmmm

At least Jaffa cakes are meant to be the healthiest junk option. We have that thing at work of cakes, chocolates and sweets freely available (on a desk behind me) it is lethal.

I have (hopefully) just requested to join the facebook thing! How nice to put nicknames/faces etc

TinkerBellesMum · 11/09/2008 15:04

Tell the truth about the jaffa cakes... I feel sick thinking about it!

TinkerBellesMum · 11/09/2008 15:09

I'm jealous about the macaroni cheese. I had some at Tesco Cafe yesterday but it was the last portion and rather thick and cold.

PT I type into Word and then C&P into here. It gets everything spell and grammar checked and means if I mess up I still have it.

nadssss, don't worry about how you sleep. It's about your comfort and if you are uncomfortable you will move. I slept on the sofa last night (see FB) and was in a half lying/half sitting position. It was actually quite comfortable

mrsy · 11/09/2008 15:13

Hey - interview went well, so fingers crossed I'll get an offer soon...

And on the way back got KFC for lunch and spiralled into a guilty freefall, but feel better now I've read your posts! Will sit back with my fizzy drink and watch the breastfeeding thing - I recorded it the other day!

I'm going to order a few birthing books on amazon - might try a couple of the ones you've recommended - any ones that are a must?

PinkTulips · 11/09/2008 15:21

baby's living quarters seemed to have expanded last night, i felt really pregnant like you do towards the end, all squashed and uncomfortable.

nadsss, i found the only way i could sleep at the end with my other 2 was on my back propped up with lots of pilows, any other way i couldn't breathe.

your body will tell you what's right for you

mrsy · 11/09/2008 15:32

dinky - which marie mongan did you read? there are about 6 different ones! there's one with a cd, which seems quite good...

DizzyBrummie · 11/09/2008 15:33

Hi everyone. Hope everyone is well. I don't post often but I do lurk and I've realised that I was still under my 'before 12 weeks scan' name. I'm NervousMouse.

I'm only 17 weeks but I really do look about 6 months, joys of a second baby I guess

Will try to push DH off the PC tonight so I can join facebook too..
