Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PInkyminkyohnooo · 03/09/2008 17:58

Ours have two middle names.. mainly becuase we are very indecisive!

twinklingfairy · 03/09/2008 17:59

Yup I am a Miriam
I didn't like it as a child and wanted to have a nickname like everyone else, but just someone dare to call me Mim or (this was what one friend insisted upon ) Mizz.
Mim is ok for my mum and DH though

Isadora, yes I like that one. How is it meant to be pronounced? I thought it was, Is a door a

cricri · 03/09/2008 18:00

Evening all! Not had chance to catch up until now...
Pinkyminky Sorry to hear about your cat Hopefully the problem has been caught early enough and she'll be fine.
I have a couple more M names - Michelle and Monique. They may be a bit exotic for your DH though
DM Hope DS has calmed down.
Barbareeba What a horrible day you had. I also can't believe the mw wanted to make you go all the way home to fetch your notes after a fall Glad everything is OK and hope you have a relaxing evening
I had my mw appt today and everything is fine - measuring spot on for dates and heard the baby's hb which I love I raised the issue of a home birth with her again and she's happy to book me in for one and will be coming round to discuss all the arrangements in just under 3 weeks. Time is definitely passing quickly! I must admit I haven't been carrying my notes around with me either - perhaps I should start. I'll maybe show DH where they are first.
We're off to our NCT breastfeeding class in an hour
Have a nice evening everybody and hello to everybody I've missed!

LackaDAISYcal · 03/09/2008 18:02

Pinky, I'm sure whoever you are sending to won't be bothered in the least that their stork isn't a secret, if it means getting one of your lovely things

LadyBuzz · 03/09/2008 18:02

Barbs hope you are OK after your nasty MW experience, I do carry my notes all the time but only because 1 - I have the biggest handbag in the world and 2 - even thought they lived in the car last time I never ever remembered to pick them up and funnily enough it wasnt a big problem I had a small ticking off and they got on with it.
LOL Hana my Mum went on her own to register DB and didn't give him the middlename they had agreed on - My Dad was NOT happy!!

OP posts:
twinklingfairy · 03/09/2008 18:03

Monique might me exotic, but Monica is less so perhaps?
I knew a Monica, she was lovely. Still is in fact

Oh I am in a chatty mood, look at me and all my posts
Well, I am off for now, must make dinner and get DD up for it.

LackaDAISYcal · 03/09/2008 18:04

Oh, and sorry about your cat pinky . Hopefully the ABs will knock it on the head. I'm sure the vet would have told you if they were unlikely to work.

LadyBuzz · 03/09/2008 18:04

Yes Pinky I second Lacks on that I would not mind getting a handmade secret stork!
I'm going shopping for mine tomorrow!

OP posts:
twinklingfairy · 03/09/2008 18:06

Daisy you are so right, I would be happy to get one of Pinky's things. And some of us might be buying just that anyway, so, Pinky, your person need never know it came direct from the maker.
I think, in the end, it may come to light anyway? Perhaps?

Right, really must go make that dinner.

MonkeyMargot · 03/09/2008 18:13

Hello all! Could someone remind me, was there a budget in mind for Secret Squirrel Stork? Was it a tenner?

Barbs what a bitch that MW was - hope you feel better tomorrow.
Welcome Louise! Was it you asking about welsh boys names that are easy to pronounce? what about Dylan?

And Pinky - not sure if you're a Little Britain fan - but have you considered Myfanwy ?

LackaDAISYcal · 03/09/2008 18:17

secret stork thread here

lol, get a bunch of pregnant women together and they can't remember anything

barbareebaa · 03/09/2008 18:20

Pinky are you looking specifically for m girls names? Sorry to hear about your cat. Ours once had something like cystitis which meant she went around weeing everywhere most upsetting. I just added water to her food (a little bit to make a touch more gravy) and that cleared it up.

MonkeyMargot i think it's a tenner and then add p&p

PInkyminkyohnooo · 03/09/2008 18:52

Thanks for all the comments about cat. She has had cystitis in the past and is on a special prescription diet that prevents the crrystals forming, it's not that kind of weeing, it's big wees, unfortunately.
Vet said there is a kidney problem but need to clear up the infection first- often get infection along with kidney problems, apparrently and he wants to try one treatment at a time, which makes sense.

Heartmum2Jamie · 03/09/2008 19:08

Lacks, could you get your dh to email me my secret stork again. I know who I have to buy for, but I deleted the email before writing her address down.....D'oh! Didn't help it was in my bulk folder which I usually just deleted without reading .

Ohhhh, I am secretly hoping to get something from Pinky too, lol!

Barbareeba, I can't believe you were treated so shoddily. This is my 3rd baby and I have NEVER been told to carry my notes with me this early. From 36 weeks yes, but not before then unless going away

Louise Welcome! I would not take much notice of fundal height. Mine was 28cm at 24 weeks with a transverse baby and at 28weeks was 34cm. I had a scan yesterday (not an actualy growth scan, but got them to check anyway) and baby is only measuring about 2 weeks ahead in weight, but they admited there is a large margin for error and it is not an exact science as scans can be out by as much as 1lb either way. I measured my own fundal height today and at 32 weeks I am measuring full term, lol! I am not very tall and don't have a long torso, so baby has nowhere to go but outwards, lol!

Pinky I am sorry about your cat. Maybe I should be greatful that the seemingly unowned kitten sat outside my door this morning got freaked and ran off as I was going to take it in and feed it. Strange as I am not really a cat person, but there was something about this kitten, very vocal and very skittish but very cute (and looked like it could have used a good meal)

sparkletoes · 03/09/2008 19:49

Before I even start to post, bloody hell Barbareebaa that is completely unacceptable behaviour by a very stupid MW. What if someone's notes got lost/destroyed in a bizzare accident... would they refuse to look at you then? Seriously FFS I am so annoyed for you. Would have wanted to be very rude back. However in my admittedly limited experience there is always one howler of a midwife in every unit. It doesn't mean they are all like that, honest. I would complain about her tho.

Kerri1983 · 03/09/2008 19:49

Hi all, I only found the other thread yesterday and now that you have moved to a new one I thought I would tag along too.

Just out of curiosity when are you all due??

I am due 24th Nov x

LackaDAISYcal · 03/09/2008 19:51

I will do heartmum

Not sure why his emails are coming through to people's junk folders though

Have just had a meltdown at DS and shouted screamed so hard at him that my throat now hurts and poor virgil has had the living daylights scared out of him . He hasn't moved since it happened. I had been asking Ds to get his pjs on for over an hour and had told him four times to close the bottom stairgate; he kept coming downstairs in various states of undress to show me pointless things. I bollocked him, then went to the kitchen to get DDs milk ready as he stomped off shouting at me and being generally gobby, left the gate open and came out the kitchen she was halfway up and fell down again before I could get to her . She is OK, just a bit shaken up, but I am bloody livid with him. If he had put his pjs on at half six when I asked him, and hadn't been stomping and stropping because I'd gotten on at him, he would've remembered to close the gate and she wouldn't have fallen. I am so sick of his general gobby stroppy attitiude.

sorry...needed to offload that

LackaDAISYcal · 03/09/2008 19:52

hi kerri, glad you found us here

ignore my rant please

Kerri1983 · 03/09/2008 19:55

Sounds like you are having a nightmare evening. It's good to have somewhere to offload your anger.

barbareebaa · 03/09/2008 20:01

Lacks what an evening you're having!! Glad your dd's o.k.

MonkeyMargot · 03/09/2008 20:06

Hi Kerri - welcome! Is this your first? I'm due Nov 5th.
Lacks hope DD is alright. Don't feel bad about getting mad. I've been doing it a lot recently. Last night I was on a work phone call til 11pm with a complete numpty and must admit I felt like screaming/crying/punching someone. Grrrr.

sparkletoes · 03/09/2008 20:06

OK will attempt to catch up now...

Heartmum - LOL at lady jungle!

Obs - so glad the tablets working for you, I went through about 5 before I found one that only kindof worked! I also LOVE the name Max but again the old surname problem for us!

Twinkling - my DH is from Caithness.. I also love Mirren but guess what? Yes surname.

Yes you lot were all chatty last night, afraid my all-consuming tiredness got the better of me and I had to go to bed. Not any better today as sleep is still a luxury I can't seem to get enough of... Also have developed annoying mid back pain today. Ok moans over.

Lacks - how annoying, can see why you are upset with him. Why does no one ever listen to their mother??!!

Hi to everyone else & new people too! Will stop now before this post gets too long.

LackaDAISYcal · 03/09/2008 20:15

and one two three.....breathe.

have just got into a slanging match on another thread now.

time to close the pooter and go attack the fixtures and fittings clean the bathroom.

sparkletoes · 03/09/2008 20:24

Oh Lacks sometimes other therads do my head in. Why do people join in and get on their high horse without reading what the thread is all about first?? Ok if there are loads of pages but under 3 pages is just plain lazy and drives me MAD!!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 03/09/2008 20:27

Oh lacks have a virtual cup of tea on me..Sometimes it can be so frustrating when they just won't pay any attention to what you say. I hope your DD is ok.

I second the point about every so often having a yucky MW. I remember one making me very upset last time I was PG, but all the others were lovely. I hope you don't give too much weight to this one, Barb.
