bizarre double post-no idea why that happened!

MerryMarigold · 04/09/2008 14:01

I freeze: herbs, chopped ginger and garlic, mini meals for ds (usually little bits of leftovers!), cubes of pureed fruit for smoothies or to put in porridge, bread (NOT home-made!), gingerbread men (defrost really well, can get a big pack from Tesco), frozen veg (much better than eating chewy, 4 day old 'fresh' veg), oven food for days I cannot be bothered to cook (fishy things usually and CHIPS!), meat and the odd batch cooked meal, which doesn't last long. I find when I batch cook that me and dh and up eating more. Think I need to divide it up before we tuck in and 'serve as much as we like'!!!

hi sharon and welcome to our little corner of MN madness

I will warn you now that your bag fetish will morph into the search for the ultimate handbag/change bag combo and your shoe fetish will manifest itself in all the snazzy little baby shoes you can buy. DS had a pair of shoes to match each outfit when he was a baby

Sadly as they get older the reality is you will spend more on children's shoes per year than on shoes for yourself.

I've done no housework yet

Pinkali37 · 04/09/2008 14:17

I batch cook but like Hana said usually by default as I love to over cook. I may a lot of Bolognaise sause, curry, chilli, lasagne, casseroles (done in slow cooker), to be fair we have just bought a new fridge freezer as having the pantry redecorated before the baby comes so i checked in the freezer what I have thus far, it would appear i freeze ANYTHING!!! including kitchen roll (DO NOT ASK).

PInkyminkyohnooo · 04/09/2008 14:26

lol pink.. check your kitchen roll holder for buteer or somesuch- that's my usual trick- kettle in the fridge, milk on the hob

LolaBella · 04/09/2008 14:28

Hi Sharon and welcome
Sorry to hear that some people are feeling so rubbish lately and not sleeping too good. I'm up too at least 3 times a night on toilet breaks, on a bad night it can be up to eight and it is so disruptive to my much needed beauty sleep! People keep commenting that it is good practice for when the baby arrives and i know they are right however, when the baby arrives i won't be working a full time (demanding) job either!

I feel so full of baby today 32+1
Some days i feel much bigger than others and am really struggling with breathlessness.

Hi to everyone else

PInkyminkyohnooo · 04/09/2008 14:28

And lacks will you settle arleady and have a cup of tea..

LackaDAISYcal · 04/09/2008 14:45

cup of tea at my side

Just found these and thought what a great idea. My techno has one that it came with and it saves the main seat from getting manky and washes really well. Didn't realise you could buy them as a separate thing though.

Pinky...another string to your bow perhaps?

thank goodness for that, I could sense you being all busy.

They look very nice, and don't invlove zips- which is what puts me of making footmuffs on a regular basis!

I've ordered a load of cotton waffle today to back some bibs and burp cloths, I decided it would be a bit nicer than just terry. I've put the fabric taht came today on my profile- I especially like the rocket rascals, they are very cute.

Have managed to get cat to take three pills so far- am feeling quite proud of myself!

LackaDAISYcal · 04/09/2008 14:55

time for the school waddle run

Dozymare · 04/09/2008 15:51

Hello all

I need to be self-indulgent....my baby started school today and it was the end of an era for me.....I guess the magnitude of thinking that the man he becomes will be shaped by his schooling to an extent and I loved school so much and really want him to love it as well.........He looked gorgeous in his little shorts and blazer with his cap all crooked....When I picked him up and said did you have a nice day, he said "yes, and I didn't miss you at all mummy"

(Little sod!)

DM exits to wipe away her proud mummy tears and wonders if it is all hormone related.....

PInkyminkyohnooo · 04/09/2008 16:00

aah DM bless![smile ] I hope DS is the same when he starts nursery school!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 04/09/2008 16:00

oh bum my didn't work!

Pinkali37 · 04/09/2008 16:16

DM... he'll always need you no matter what... Bet he looked cute.

ruthosaurus · 04/09/2008 16:25

Hi Sharon, I'm a 1st timer too, and no baby is breaking my bag and shoe habit, even if they are all practical or comfortable! Have just decluttered so am feeling the need to shop.

Speaking of which, does anyone know where I can get a horribly cheap but new single bed+mattress from for the nursery? Ikea's coming in top at the mo at about £90.

Lacks I daren't go round on all fours but it's DH I've got to watch out for (TMI? soz )...

Housework? I do it when his parents are coming round and he does it when mine are - neither of us are mad bothered about our own but don't want showing up in front of the in-laws. I have even been known to bake.

Hi Dozy - did you get a picture of your little'un starting big school to embarass him with when he's 14? Got to be done. Bless him, I bet he did miss you a little bit really.

BTW, sorry for typos - they replaced my keyboard with a doll-sized one during the hols and now my hands are too big for the keys.

ceebee74 · 04/09/2008 16:33

Dozy - bless, I bet he just looked scrummy! Cry away - you are entitled to do so!!

That just reminded me that when I picked up DS from nursery yesterday, there was a record book in his drawer so I asked if I could take it home to read overnight and bring back. Anyway, it turns out it is a record of his achievements etc during the 18 months he was in the baby room so it is ours to keep now he has moved rooms. It is really cool with loads of examples of stuff he has done, photos of him at nursery etc.....anyway, there is one photo of him playing 'dressing up' games and he is wearing a long dress with flamenco style sleeves and hemline which is ok - nice to be experimental with his feminine side etc - but the best bit was in this photo he is checking himself out in the mirror and clearly seems to be quite pleased by what he can see Add this photo to the video footage I have of him putting my make-up on, we are going to have quite a collection to share with future girlfriends

PInkyminkyohnooo · 04/09/2008 16:35

yup I got DS's bedfrom Ikea, it's the one that you turn the other way up when they are older, as he's in a small bedroom, very comfy! I have been known to lie on it whilst DH gives them a bath!

ChocOrange05 · 04/09/2008 16:36

Hey Ladies - HELP NEEDED Do you have any good ideas for present for DH's birthday!?!? I have no idea what to get him but thought something baby / pregnancy related might be nice. Or is that completely self-centred??

Choco- DH's birthday is a month after DS's, and the year he was born it also landed of father's day! I would treat him, as he's going to come second soon!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 04/09/2008 16:41

oops sorry Ruthosaurus I just assumed it was for a child..either way, I'd get an IKea one as they are very good for the price.

LadyBuzz · 04/09/2008 16:53

Welcome Sharon
Dozy bet DS looked gorgeous bless him I bet he did miss you really!
DS is very cuddly today but that is only because he is poorly.
I keep thinking about doing the housework but never get much further although I'm very happy as my Aunty cam to sit with DS while I was at MW and she dusted and cleaned the bathroom I will however tell DH I did it .
All was well at MW baby was head down but I guess that was just coincidence as it was transverse this morning everything else is fine, she said palpitations and breathlessness were just one of those things as is swelling etc. BP is fine and al my bloods were normal.
One thing she did say though was to start taking Spatone (Heartmum have you mentioned this before??) as the next time the give me my anti D and do the bloods if my HB level is down they may want me to take Iron tablets yuk! I would do anything to avoid that! I don't know if this is specific for people with neg blood or not but I had to have them after CS last time and she said it might help with that too!

Sorry forgot to say "Hello" to Sharon.. I am also a first timer and blimey my hand bag and shoe fetish is the only thing that has got me through the aches and pains of pregnancy (although I do love growing a baby, espcially when s/he moves around). If i can't shop for clothes whilst pregnant, shoes are a must! Although will probably have to slow down somewhat once baby is here.

lauraw78 · 04/09/2008 17:11

Hello all, I usually lurk, but have decided to post for a change. Anyways, Im 32 weeks, due 4th November....this is my third and third girl, I have the name chosen, the hospital bag packed, (I do plan on a homebirth but you never know)the main items bought...pram cot etc, I have a supply of nappies in, Im so organised its making me sick .

With it being my third I feel confident enough to attempt a home birth, but the main reason really is that I was 5 hours established labour with my first, and 18 minutes with my second so Im kinda covering my own back as I don't want to be caught short...hehe, also, I really hate the stay in hospital afterwards and would love to avoid that, plus I wanna just be in my own home, I think the benefits if everything goes normally far outway the cons. I should just add, I was induced both times with my two girls, so Im guessing that may just be the case this time round, fingers crossed it isnt though.

Anyway, look forward to chatting away the next 8 weeks with you all, not long to go
