lol Wouldn't it be Shrove? you could keep pancake as a family name..I like to keep to full names on birth certificates, just in case DS runs for Pm or somesuch.

LackaDAISYcal · 17/09/2008 23:04

heehee. Yes, Shrove definately more dignified

but I think virgil has a new nickname

PInkyminkyohnooo · 17/09/2008 23:07

that has really made me laugh. night night lacks- hope you get some good sleep.

twinklingfairy · 17/09/2008 23:10

Now I have discovered these
Now I may be opening a barrel of...what's that saying? Anyway, I think they are awful!! That mother is looking lovingly at a blanket! She can't see her baby!
I know they are designed so baby is perfectly safe in there, but why on earth are they in there!? I don't get it!
Once baby is latched on, there is nothing to be seen, you can be perfectly discreet whilst feeding. It is the getting baby on that can be troublesome and you can't do that under a black shawl, so that bit is in the open, right? So once baby is attached, why the need for the shawl? Or are you both meant to hide under there until the 'unpleasantries' are completed??
Yuck yuck yuck!

Rant over, and I am not even staying up to hear/read comments because, clearly I need to get off the computer and go to bed instead of geting all sanctimonious (ooh big word, prob spelt wrong though) about silly things that I stumble on whilst aimlessly surfing!!

Would love to read them tommorrow though!

vbab78 · 17/09/2008 23:17

Forgot to say as got carried away with catching up with posts ... I came over really ill yesterday .

Was weird ... I had been fine all day but my ears felt off after a bath in the morning (dont know if related). Late afternoon (on my own with DS and DH on site with work) I was peeling some potatoes for tea outside while DS was playing in the garden and I suddenly felt really ill. I clawed my way into the house and then went really HOT and even worse. I closed doors etc and made things as safe as poss for DS in case I fainted because I felt so bad. I phoned DH because I was so worried (mainly about DS being alone if I passed out). But he was on site and wouldn't be home for at least another hour! Luckily I didn't pass out as I laid on the sofa (DS laid with me, [sweet]) and DH managed to get home after about 30 mins. Don't know what it was but the worst of it went after lying down for half an hour.

it was horrendous and beyond scary and made me think what it I had been in labour or had actually passed out (maybe hurt myself)!

vbab78 · 17/09/2008 23:19

twinkling - Did she borrow that cape from zorro or batman?!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 17/09/2008 23:19

I have seen these around on the internet, too. They look like something a breastfeeding nun might use.
What's it all about??
I know someone who used to put a muslin over her shoulder like that when feeding- I think it was mainly because the baby had a habit of coming off to look around when at toddler groups etc. But I don't get these great big apron doodahs at all.

LackaDAISYcal · 17/09/2008 23:22

blood pressure combined with hot flush vbab? fainting and dizzy spells are more common in the third trimester and could be due to low blood pressure. If it happens again get thee to a doctor, and mention it your MW next time you see her.

I hope it was a one off.

lol twinkling. Those covers don't exactly do a lot for getting public BFing accepted in the nation's psyche do they?

LackaDAISYcal · 17/09/2008 23:23

a breastfeeding nun....now there's a contradiction in terms

OK, OK, I am going to bed......just waiting for the cat to come ambling in again!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 17/09/2008 23:26

vbab I missed that post. low blood pressure/iron levels. could be. I'd get you BP checked.

LadyBuzz · 18/09/2008 07:46

Twinkling what can I say - I'd forget about the one that is attached and answer the door or something! and like you say its the getting them on that is not discreet and you can't do that with the blanket on - Poor child!
I tell DH all about the other ladies whos DH/DPs are not gettng any but funnily enough it doesn't make him any happier - Def keep it to myself about Obs though
Hope everyone who has been ill is feeling better.
Ceebee and Dozy the is a HF&M outbreak here aswell at the moment my niece (17) has had it and my cousins baby too, Just watch for scratching though Lilli caught her very last spot and ended up in hospital with a nasty infection.
I'm off on a mission today to try and complete my hospital bag!

Morning all

Lol at your conversations last night but Obs - 3 times at this stage???? Me and DH manage it about once a week and that is with DH nagging me until I give in although that is getting harder (no pun intended ) to find comfortable positions!

Chocorange - I will no longer be talking to you since you have outed yourself as a Utd fan unless we beat you on Sunday of course then I will be gloating!!

DS is being brought up as a Chelsea fan as will this baby - whether they like it or not!!

Vbab - sounds v scary but glad you are feeling better. It is awful when you feel like that but still have the responsibility of a child aswell - sounds like you managed really well though.

I can't wait until all the babies are born and we can find out the names!! Just out of interest, what do we do when the first baby is born....do we switch to the Post-natal topic straight away or do we have 2 threads running simultaneously?? (Just a random thought for a Thursday morning there).

DS is much better today - he actually slept well last night (nothing to do with the Medised I gave him ) and managed to drink his milk and eat some cereal without whinging - although he did cry when I dropped him off at nursery

Just noticed thread is nearly at the end aswell so need to start thinking up a new title........

MonkeyMargot · 18/09/2008 09:26

MerryM I LOVE Charis - so unusual but pretty! And I really like Edith too!
Out of your boys names, Elliot is cool, and so is Lyndon. I have a mad Uncle Lyndon who always strips off at parties....
Cosmo, of course, is an excellent choice.

Ooh, Schezerade is lovely - if rather posh! That's what Jemima Khan's sister-in-law is called I think?
Another one on our list which I forgot about last night was Santa Allegra for a girl (Tara Palmer-Tompkinson's sister is called Santa). But maybe too odd. Will be expected to whiz down chimneys and give out lots of presents from large sack at xmas time.

MonkeyMargot · 18/09/2008 09:27

Vbab - hope you're alright today? sounds like low blood pressure. I have had a few fainting episodes when I've got too warm etc. Are you going to see your GP?

Pinkali37 · 18/09/2008 09:33

Morning All,

Thanks for your nice words re my sister. I used to think I was adopted as it seemed to be that I was the one that couldn't do anything right and my sister was the gentle one who no one should upset. I honestly used to think my mum preferred her. Quite sad really.

I just cannot wait to meet my baby (like us all i'm absolutely sure). I will be 32 weeks on friday and the time really is passing so quickly.

MerryMarigold · 18/09/2008 10:44

MonkeyM, I made the mistake of putting 'Charis' and 'Edith' on a babynames thread on MN. Someone said 'Charis' sounded like a car, and ever since I haven't been able to get Charis Yaris out of my head!!! But your kind words may make me reconsider. I think Edith is borderline old lady and just supercool in an Edith Piaf sort of way.

Mmmm...Santa. No. Allegra on its own is nice though.

I've sen the 'Brest friend' pillows. Just couldn't get over the name!

We need someone witty for the new thread title!

I've had a bad morning. Dh's little hypochondriac episode extended into the morning, although 'migraine' was gone, he felt a bit 'funny'. So guess who had to take care of ds from 6.45. And anyway, a lot of incidents later (and a pulled muscle, in pain, late for playschool), I left the house with dh's car keys instead of mine - and mine have my housekeys attached. So I was locked out. Luckily dh works in central London so I drove to a central line stop and met him, but he just chucked the keys at me with the biggest scowl . I felt quite teary afterwards (unlike me, but prob hormones). I really DON'T LIKE HIM at all this week!

coolkat · 18/09/2008 11:08

Morning ladies

Sorry you are having a bad morning Merry, hopefully it will get bettr now. X

I am liking the names discussion. Our names are quite 'traditional' as DD is plain so would not be right using a nice modern one for this baby! Plus we have a very common surname!

Ob's wow 3 times in a row, I was lucky to have got it once last night, not had for ages but was nice sorry tmi.

Well DD at school and DH at work so I am doing a few jobs. DD is going to go mad when she comes home as I have dared to tidy 'her' playroom an have binned lots of crap!

I need to descale the steriliser today just incase we need to revert to bottles should breast feeding not go to plan, although I have my bra's now. 6wks 3 days until induction

twinklingfairy · 18/09/2008 11:16

Oh thats sounds a bit scary vbab. So sweet that DS lay with you.
I lay on the ground yesterday, for no particular reason just stretching realy, but straightening my legs out made me groan. DD was on the floor as well and came to my head with a sweet face on, touching my head she said 'what's wrong mummy?'
aaah!

merri at rotten DH!! Men!
They can be such rotten selfish horrors!

lol ladybuzz funnily enough, I too, have not told DH about obs marathon sesh!!
No point in upsetting the poor love

MonkeyMargot · 18/09/2008 11:19

MerryM Ignore the stupid comments. Charis is sweet and cool, and Edith is supercool in a "so not cool it's cool" way.
What a bugger locking yourself out. So annoying. And make sure next time your DH does something a little bit stoopid, to be just as understanding and patient as he has just been with you .

I spent the early part of the morning inspecting a leak in the flat we own and rent out. It's the second time in 4 months we've had a leak, we've literally just had the flat redecorated, and now it needs doing all again.....and the woman who owns the flat above is a total bitch from hell, so I know this is going to take months to sort out. Grr.

On the positive side, I'm about to meet my Dad for a coffee in my office as he's just had an interview at the company I work for - we might be work buddies in a few weeks time!

ChocOrange05 · 18/09/2008 11:27

Merry Sorry you are having DH troubles - men are rubbish - apart from Obs DH who sounds like a stallion!!!

Merry what did you think of the Brest Friend pillow?? It got loads of good reviews - and although its quite expensive I get a bad back quite a lot so I might buy one. Anyone else tried it?

Ceebee based on current performances I am afraid you will be gloating on Sunday - but remember to be nice, I'm very emotional at the moment and you wouldn't want to make me cry!

Monkey I like Edith but not so keen on Charis.

What do you think of Aliya for a girl - pronounced Al-e-ya (not Aal-i-yah - like that girl singer)

ruthosaurus · 18/09/2008 11:49

OMG - so many topics, so little time!

Sex - TF it's not just me... DH was looking ill at the thought of no nookie for 6 weeks afterwards until I pointed out that really this wouldn't be too much of a change and we'd be too tired and covering in poo and sick anyway. He then pointed out that none of that sounded much like a change so I broke a chair over his head (kidding, kidding). Home life chez Saurus - 'tis all glam and cocktails, you know. I kid DH that since 2008 was a leap year and since we may have conceived around the 29th, it'll be every 4 years from now on...

Names - We have narrowed it down to these:

Daniel
Finlay (my fave)
Phoebe

BUT we also considered

Eirik (we like Vikings, okay)
James
Billy (well, William really)
Richard (except this would make him the 3rd of that name in the family and Richard III is rhyming slang)
Max

Tallulah (denied! Was vetoed at the outset by DH and both entire extended families - bastards)
Leia
Rowena (not mega keen, but after a friend who died v young - may be a middle name)
Amy
Maia

Sorry to all those with kiddlies with HFM -
one of my colleagues came into the office (before I had told anyone I was pg) and said her son had it so I spent a happy half an hour on t'internet finding out whether Saurus Jr was in any danger or not. It sounds AWFUl though - big disinfacted hugs to all.

Dozy and baskets - I know this topic is ages ago now (get on the bus, Saurus), but I bought the IKEA baskets about 2 weeks ago - they aren't huge (I'm going to keep changing stuff etc in them) but they were £5 for a pack at IKEA and they are pretty adorable www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/40123626. I don't think they are v tough, though, but they do pack flat. Think ebayer was being a little cheeky as they are still in the shops! I am also doing red gingham (with stars) as I dunno what variety of Saurus this baby is.

Big hug, Merry - not impressed with DH's behviour. Aren't a lot of DHs and DPs playing up recently? Like it makes getting ready for a baby so much easier if you're fighting... .

Tinkerisdead · 18/09/2008 11:49

chocorange just saw your where have i been? message! he he.

sorry its really hard keeping track of this thread of you only drop in and out. Ive been mega busy as Dh went on his spain trip and everyone descended on me to visit! ive committed to resting a bit more from next week so hopefully be around a bit more. and i have my secret stork person so will be doing that next week too. Im still around xxx

ChocOrange05 · 18/09/2008 11:56

Glad to hear you are still alive DrsWife! I was wondering where you were - especially after watching some Peter Kay at the weekend!

Saurus you do make me laugh! A while ago we had some nicknames for posters on here - can't remember them all but I was Regular Optimist and think we had a Regular Know-It-All, anyhoo - I think you are definitely Regular Comedienne!! With that in mind I challenge you to come up with a witty title for our new thread!!

As for your names Saurus I really like Finlay and I like Maia for a girl. I like the others too but these are my favs

ruthosaurus · 18/09/2008 12:39

Hi chocorange - it's all a front!

How about "F*ck me, it's a long time since I last saw my feet - are they still there?"?

More rudeness than wit, soz .

ChocOrange05 · 18/09/2008 12:41

Perfect Saurus!! I think we're all feeling it!
