Popsycal - it could be a sign! Niklas was a bit quiet for while then very active the night things started. Me & dh did have a very active night ourselves that night as well though ! Its not that bad!!!!!

A quick peek at mumsnet for me, before dp returns to bed and I get to be in charge of dd again! I think he is gradually getting better - but boy am I relieved that this baby hasn't shown up yet.

Girly - have just re-read your post - a 55 minute active stage - good grief! So all those days and days of being fully engaged and having contractions on and off must have been doing something good!

Popsycal - star jumps are just about the last thing I could manage right now. Sex is supposed to be the way forward, but frankly I'd rather be pregnant for another week or so! Am going to waddle the 50yards to our local playground and see if that has any effect!

bonym · 05/03/2005 10:59

Girly - huge congratulations! Wow - 55 mins that's some going . A big welcome to Millie - lovely name

popsycal · 05/03/2005 11:33

Well I feel like s**t today. Still in PJs which is very unlike me. Debating whether to phone the hospital as I have a blindng headache (and that is a high blood pressure indictaor - or it can be). It doesn't seem to be the 'flashy' headaches that they go on about but I am going to have something to eat them maybe ring. I know what they will say though.....come down and sit for 3 hours and be monitored then we will send you home AGAIN as your bp isn't bad enough!
Grrrrrrrrr

jambot · 05/03/2005 18:31

Have just had a fall! Was walking round the building site that is our house at the moment and stepped on a wobbly plank. Fell heavily with DH frantically trying to save me. Didn't really hurt myself - just a little graze, but got such a fright and lay in a big heap crying like a baby! Think I got more a fright than anything but no more site inspections for me till after the baby comes. This is the third time I've fallen in the last 2 months. My centre of gravity must be totally out, as I'm normally pretty agile. Wonder if the fall might bring on my labour sooner.

3mummy · 05/03/2005 19:24

Oh no Jambot , hope you are ok?! I have a tendancy to suddenly not be able to judge distances in the car when I'm pregnant - especially when reversing and have managed to reverse into a brick wall (a 6ft one!! ) in our new family car so far this time!

Am trying to stay away from the car now . Put your feet up and be kind to yourself for the evening!..... Stay away from the building site!!

Pidge · 05/03/2005 21:10

Popsycal - hope you are ok? Did they fetch you in for monitoring?

Jambot - really hope you are ok too. I remember last time round falling down stairs when 32 weeks pregnant and scaring the living daylights out of myself. Definitely an excuse for you to put your feet up and get your DH to wait on your every need.

Bit of a depressing day here - we keep thinking dp is getting better, but he still spent much of the day in bed, and this has been going on a fortnight now. I really got fed up today of being in sole charge of shopping, cooking, laundry, entertaining dd and trying not to go into labour! I'm torn between longing to meet this baby, but knowing I would like dp to be vaguely conscious for the event. Anyway, no sign of anything happening on the birth front, so we're safe for a bit longer. I shall quit whingeing .

Have also just cheered myself up by scoffing the last and rather enormous piece of chocolate truffle cake that was sitting in our fridge! And I have some white chocolate to hand and unbelievably am scoffing that too.

Also feeling rather calmer now that I've managed to work out how to inflate the birth pool and KEEP it inflated. Flipping dp was supposed to be figuring it out, and is normally marvellous at such things, but in his current state was failing abismally. Anyway, the pool is now inflated and looking fine. Hooray. Can't believe I waited till I was 3 days overdue to finally read the instructions and sort it out! BoneyM - have you got your splashdown pool yet?

Oh Jambot - that must have been really scary - just put your feet up now and don't do anything!
Popsycal - hope you're ok too - any news?\
Pidge - has dp been to the doc? Sounds like a vicious bug he's got - it must be a real worry for you at the moment (not to mention exhausting). Hope he recovers soon. DH picked our pool up today - we went for the oval fibreglass one in the end as I'm tall and thought the extra space would be good - it's HUGE! DH has bolted it together and it's sat in the living room - we had to move a bookcase into the dining room to make room for it! DD insisted on watching some of the video with me earlier (she's almost 7) - I was a bit worried about her seeing the births but she was so totally unfazed by it and kept getting into the pool saying "I'm going to take birth" - I told her it was "give" but she seemed to have "take"stuck in her mind

jambot · 06/03/2005 06:38

Well it seems I'm ok after my very elegant fall, although I didn't have a very restfull night - what's new? Still battling with this damn cold. It's been nearly 3 weeks and I just can't seem to shake it - if anything it seems to be getting worse. Taking Vit. C but not helping. Hope I don't go into labour like this as I can't breathe through my mouth at all and all my breathing exercises are going to go out of the window.
We still have no shower or bath until later this week! Talk about last minute renovations - although they should've been finished a month ago. Typical builders I suppose. Luckily my parents live around the corner, and they have a swimming pool, which we live in whilst the weather is so hot. Was 34 Celsius yesterday. (Cape Town, unless you're confused!) A bit different to the UK weather at the moment I think. The hot weather may sound wonderful to all of you watching the snow come down, but believe me at 39 weeks it's not funny being so hot. It's absolutely draining.

Leogaela · 06/03/2005 11:58

Jambot! Sounds like you are at the end of your tether! hope the baby makes an appearance soon. It must have been really frightening falling over.

If you haven't seen the birth annoucements yet... we have another March baby just arrived!!!!!

Well done Popsycal!

Pidge · 06/03/2005 14:37

Brilliant news about popsycal.

Now if only beetroot would let us know HOW we get that baby to give off the relevant hormone .... .

BoneyM - to be honest I was pretty despondent about dp's continued illness yesterday, and was lining up my alternative birthing partners! But I think he IS gradually getting better. He has to go to the GP tomorrow anyway, as he has now been off work for so long he needs a GP's certificate. I'm sure they're going to say it's a virus and all he can do is rest. Other people at his school have had it too and one guy was off work for 3 weeks, so it obviously is a wicked bug. I guess the good thing is that so far I haven't caught it.

Your pool sounds ace - I did briefly regret not getting the oval one when our inflatable kept deflating. But now I've sorted it out I'm happy, and I'm only 5'4 so plenty of room in there for me to bob about. LOL at your dd and 'taking birth' ... my dd just wants to get her swimming costume on and get paddling in there!

Jambot - glad you're ok. Must confess the weather does sound tempting - I nearly got frostbite standing in the playground this morning with dd. In fact she even begged to go home because she was getting so cold! But still, I know this is easier to handle than heat. I just have ALL My jumpers on and am essentially circular in shape.

Girly · 06/03/2005 16:23

Have posted my birth announcement and popsy has had her little boy, its all go on this March thread!!!!

Who's next then? any twinges come on girls you know you wanna!

Pidge?

Hope you are feeling better after your fall Jambot?

3mummy · 06/03/2005 16:39

Well so far I have been for a walk with Dh and girls, played bat and ball in the garden for an hour, followed Dd1 up and down the road while she rode her bike. Not to mention having had curry and a bit of between the sheets action with Dh last night ! I shall be off to get a pineapple in the morning and will no doubt wash it down with a tall glass of caster oil!!

DH is off work til Wed and is then on a course (which he really doesn't want to go to) so I am under orders to get into labour before then! - Like I have a choice?! I have also had the world and his wife calling and texting to "see if anything is happening yet?" GGrrrrrrr, I'm not even due for another 2 and a half weeks............ guess it's my own fault for having DD1 3 wks early eh?

Pidge, you poor thing, you must be getting sooooo fed up now . Hope Dp really is on the mend, my DD1 is getting over her 2wk virus now and has just started coming out in chicken pox spots - DD2 however, is over the chicken pox but has been ill for a week with this nasty flu virus .

Jambot - glad you're not too hurt from the fall, hope the heat eases up a bit for you .

Here's to quick easy labours for the rest of us !!

Pidge · 06/03/2005 21:06

3Mummy - those are pretty impressive efforts!! Hope they have some effect . Sounds like your family is as sickly as mine at the moment. Your poor dd's with their spots and flu.

My dp said to me today "Well, it wouldn't be a disaster if you went into labour now, but maybe if you could hold off another day or two .... " Terrific! He definitely won't be in work tomorrow, as he can only manage 2 hours out of bed before he keels over. Oh well - dd and I went round and had a great play session with a friend of hers and I had a giggle with my friend over the idea of me trying to keep this baby in a bit longer.

So, Girly no twinges here, just quite a few Braxton Hicks to keep me entertained!
Nonetheless ... am off to get a really early night, just in case!

Nik72 · 06/03/2005 23:01

Hello again - managed to be a march antenatal person for less than 12 hours as I went into labour half an hour after my last post! Had the TENS on for a few hours and hopped int eh bath when it seemend stopped working (which really helped for a good hour or so) and when that stopped working went to the hospital and was almost fully dilated! 2 and a half horrible hours later (did not enjoy pushing at all) Ellie was born.
Am now back homw and very engorged (savoy cabbage leaves in situ) but all going well thanks to DH being fab and a really good community midwife who's been so helpful with the feeding.

Good luck to those still waiting!!!

jambot · 07/03/2005 05:01

Nice cool day yesterday - even had a bit of rain. Such a relief from the heat earlier in the week. Have also had the " has she come yet"? phone calls starting. Still finding it hard to believe that this huge belly is going to translate into a little human in about a week. Quite surreal.
Must honestly say that the thought of any 'nookie' with DH at the moment doesn't get me going - as wonderful as he is. Don't actually think I'd be physically capable, I'm so immobile at the moment! My mind actually boggles at the the idea! Poor chap, he'll just have to be a bit patient.
