misdee · 17/02/2005 20:30

so 3 of us are jumping the queue, with maybe popsycal joining us as well.

i have to go sort out the bags again later, am sure i'll forget something.

jambot · 18/02/2005 06:30

Had my check-up on Wednesday. My baby is huge and I am not yet 37 weeks. She's got really long legs, which she must have got from my husband as mine certainly aren't anything to write home about, especially at the moment - they are so swollen that they look like tree stumps! Doctor doesn't think I'll make it to 40 weeks, mainly because the baby is already so big that she may be near to 10 pounds by then, and do I really feel like pushing out such a big baby? Finding it really hard to sleep over the last few days. Turning over has become a very long winded, uncomfortable experience.
Starting to worry more about when the baby arrives than the birth. Very nervous about the whole b/f thing. Really keen to get it right, so think I will book a b/f consultant to come to the hospital to make sure I'm doing it ok.

Leogaela · 18/02/2005 10:01

Had my appointment this morning, the doctor seems very unconcerned that i may be leaking fluid. he said its not a problem unless I am really losing a lot and my waters have really broken.

The baby is in a better position with its back to my left side, but i am pretty sure its just rolling around as I could feel all arms and legs out front again yesterday. The babies head is still not in the pelvis at all, the head is sitting on my pelvic bone. Doctor seems sure that the pelvis is too small for the head. I see him again in another 10 days - 10 days seems like an eternity away!!!
I am getting SO uncomfortable, the skin on my belly either hurts or itches like hell, and unless I keep myself moving constantly I get really really stiff and can hardly move when I stand up. Also turning over is really hard work! And I've got a cold.... sorry for moaning, its another feel sorry for myself day today although I know you are all going through the same thing!

Jambot - its pretty frightening when they tell you that the baby is big isn't it! Sometimes I think we have more information than is good for us to know!

I haven't thought that much about b/f, but we have a session on it next week at the birth preparation class and they have a b/f expert in the hospital where I give birth - I'm relying on that to be enough to tell me what I need to know!

Preggimum & Misdee - enjoy your weekends! And bestof luck for Monday!!!!

Hello everyone! I have not been able to look at mumsnet as it was banned at work! I am now on maternity leave and taking things easy.

The twins are still one head down one breech so I am still set for a vb. Getting the same symthoms like the rest of you. I can't wait for it to be over as i get no sleep at night but I am enjoying being off work and will not mind two more weeks of freedom.

A good afternoon to you all

aku

shalaa · 18/02/2005 14:03

Leogaela - all I seem to be doing lately is moaning as well! I'm tired, my butt hurts from the sciatica and to top it all off I had a curry and now have dreadful wind! I swear I could gas power a small city at the moment, providing I didn't incinerate it first of course!

I've done the curry, am guzzling raspberry leaf tea, will try nipple tweaking tonight and am bouncing on my ball! Baby however is still showing no signs of budging.

Leogaela · 18/02/2005 14:42

LOL Shalaa! Maybe its a good idea to get rid of all that gas before you go into labour!!!
But at least you are getting close! Nothing I do now could start the labour with the head so far out of the pelvis!
The midwife at the birth prep classes said perinial massage and sex (but only if you have an O) are the best ways to start things off.

Aku! How COULD they ban MN at work! Enjoy the time off before the baby arrives!

Am starting to feel quite nervous as well as excited for Monday. I now have everything packed and feel like I'm finally ready. Had my last antenatal hospital appointment today and last lot of blood tests taken.

Good luck Misdee for Monday. Only just realised that you are also scheduled for Monday - our DDs look likely to share the same birthday!

3mummy · 18/02/2005 19:20

Hi everyone, I am just totally useless at keeping up with these posts!! Have just done the weekly shop and am having a quick MN fix while the kids tuck into their quickie dinner. Then I'm off to bath my youngest in bicarbonate of soda and smother in calomine lotion - Yup, she's got chicken pox (or chicken spots as she says!!). So it looks like I'm in for a couple of weeks nursing both girls - older one hasn't had it yet and is a bit grouchy, and possibly DH as he's not sure if he's had it and has a couple of suspicious spots!! Luckily I had it as a child and the MW reckons although I could still get shingles baby should be fine.

Lots of luck and lovely wishes to Misdee and Preggiemum for Monday.

Jambot, don't fret too much about the big baby thing. My MW was absolutley positive my first was huge - at least 9lbs she reckoned. And she told me not to bother buying any newborn clothes only to get 0 - 3mths as this baby was going to be BIG. Anyway, my "big" baby was 6lb 51/2oz!! Poor old DH had to go straight to M'care and get "tiny baby" clothes!!

All the best to you all, I'm off to stop my little itchy chicken spot scratching!!

shalaa · 19/02/2005 07:54

Well looks like i've beaten you all to it!! My waters broke at 6.25am this morning and were leaving for the hospital around 9am!! I'm so excited, scared & nervous, not really having any contractions yet which is why they want me to go in now for a check up. Either way hopefully will be holding my baby today or tomorrow.

Good Luck Everyone!!

Cristina7 · 19/02/2005 08:31

Shalaa - good luck with it all! How exciting! I look forward to reading on here about your baby's safe arrival.

tamula · 19/02/2005 08:56

Hello everyone,

Im due in March too, I've not posted on any of these threads that I can remember because everyone seems to know everyone else and i have been known to be a serial thread killer, although thats not likely on this thread!!

Well I am due on the 25th of March, its my first baby, we dont know what we are having, I'm not sure how I managed that one! I'm THE most impatient person I know!

I'm 30 years old, live in East London, former nanny and student midwife.

And I want to join the gang!

misdee · 19/02/2005 09:00

Hi tamula, and very exciting shalaa.

well my body is either clearing out (yuk) or i have a sickness and diahorrea bug. am hoping its clearing out. have had some contractions during the night, but nothing major. dh is coming home this afternoon so i dont want to be going into labour just yet.

tamula · 19/02/2005 09:03

Hi Misdee,

I havent read the entire thread but are you being induced or something on Monday?

misdee · 19/02/2005 09:05

yes, monday afternoon.

tamula · 19/02/2005 09:06

Fantastic, my sister was induced just before christmas and had a wee girl - Faye.

Good luck, i'm sure you wont need it.

Girly · 19/02/2005 09:15

Oh what a good choice of name tamula

Good luck Shalaa and will keep an eager eye out for your birth announcement.

tamula · 19/02/2005 09:17

Thanks Girly!

Whats your story? when are you due? first baby?

popsycal · 19/02/2005 09:40

oh wow shalaaa good luck

bonym · 19/02/2005 11:28

Misdee & Preggiemum - all the best for Monday - we'll all be thinking of you and look forward to the birth announcements! Misdee - do you know if dh will be able to be at the birth?

Jambot - as 3mummy says - don't get too hung up on the size thing. My baby has been measuring at the 90% centile all the way along but I reckon this is because she has long legs (as confirmed at the scan I had this week) - the chart estimates she will be about 9.5lbs at term but dd1 was only 7lb2oz and she was a very long baby so I am not really concerned about this one. Even a large baby doesn't necessarily mean a difficult birth. My brother was 10lb4oz and my mum gave birth to him at home with only gas and air and no tears! (that's tears as in rips, not tears as in crying! ).
Leogaela - sorry to hear you're having a rough time - just remember it's not long to go now and it will all be worth it. I'm sure we all sympathise though, these last few weeks are really hard aren't they? I have been feeling really breathless today - can't seem to do the slightest thing without huffing and puffing!

bonym · 19/02/2005 11:35

Oh - hadn't refreshed the page before I posted - how exciting Shalaa (although you probably won't see this post now before it all happens!)
Misdee - looks as though you might be joining her sooner than you think - my first labour started with a good "clearing out"!
Welcome Tamula - you're due the same day as me - I'll race you!!!

oceanmama · 19/02/2005 14:54

Good luck shalaa! Hope we hear back from you soon.

bonym · 19/02/2005 17:44

Misdee - are you still with us? Has that clear out led to labour?

Cristina7 · 19/02/2005 17:46

I think Misdee is mostly with her DH this afternoon as he's out of hospital.

misdee · 19/02/2005 17:46

i'm still here. dh got home a few hrs ago and have been busy with dinner since then. b4 that i was putting things in the loft and clearing the garden (with the help of my parents). garden is now poo-free so the kids can play outside if we get a warm few days.

popsycal · 20/02/2005 10:56

good luck for tomorrow those of you getting induced

if my bp is up on tuesday I am going to demand induction

well,,,,,,,ask nicely
