Welcome Norash40 .

Quite a few seem to be dropping early for one reason or another..... although not pidge - sorry!! And you can bet I won't this time round, just to be different .

All the best xx

popsycal · 02/03/2005 14:00

shalaa must have had the baby by now then!!

popsycal · 02/03/2005 14:00

welcome noraash40

norash40 · 02/03/2005 14:03

Thanks guys. Is it just me or are we all just too heavy to move around at the moment.

popsycal · 02/03/2005 14:05

I am having a cleaning day today as DS is at the childminders.....
Latest task has just been dusting and hoovering the bedroom (including hoovering the walls and ceiling... don't ask)

norash40 · 02/03/2005 14:14

I have been catching up on some laundry too, haven't stopped cleaning just little jobs round the house. It's so frustrating though not being able to do as much as I used too.

Pidge · 02/03/2005 14:42

3Mummy - well, the way I look at it, is it's my duty to balance out all these early arrivals , not to mention it would be nice to have my birth partner (i.e. dp) not confined to bed when I go into labour.

Welcome norash - I'm big into laundry too - how sad! In fact after this I'm off to do a spot of ironing. I've also become obsessed with baking and cooking. We don't have any room in our fridge for any more food, so have forbidden myself from creating anything else this afternoon. And it's not nesting, I just love nothing more than a good potter in the kitchen. But popsycal, I draw the line at hoovering walls and ceiling - you have finally lost it!

Shalaa must have had her baby by now - but remembering those early days, she may well not get back online for a while!

And wasn't preggiemum due to have her dd by CS on the 21st?

And maybe Girly has had hers by now too, given she was being induced yesterday or today?

Any of you out there?!

popsycal · 02/03/2005 14:44

Girly hasnt had it yet......well she hadnt yesterday. She had a bit of a nasty hospital experience (hope she doesnt mind me saying) with lots of starting and stopping so is keeping a low profile....
She wont be long though!

bonym · 02/03/2005 14:54

Mmm, popsycal - sounds like a definite case of nesting to me - are you going to be the next to 'pop'? Girly must be really fed up - give her our best when you speak to her and wish her good luck.
Welcom Norash40 - it's nice to have another one to add to the "end of March"list - especially as so many of these March babes seem to want to rush into the world early!
Well, I just had a call from the midwifery manager in response to my letter about their proposed "possible cancellation" of home births. She was lovely and reassured me that they are still offering a home birth service and it seems my midwife had got the wrong end of the stick! I told her that others in my aquanatal class had been told the same thing and she said she would put a big sign up in the office about it! I am very relieved and keeping fingers crossed now that nothing else will happen to muck my home-birth plans up! I know you can't predict how labour will pan out but I'll be so fed up if I have to go to hospital!

norash40 · 02/03/2005 15:07

I have not had a single anti natal class yet. Should I be worried. Are there any classes that I should make sure I go to?

bonym · 02/03/2005 15:12

Our local authority has just cancelled ante natal classes due to short staffing problems. I would speak to your midwife to check availability - if you are too late then I would just get a really good book which will tell you all you need to know (Birth & beyond by Yehudi Gordon is great) or ask your midwife if she can go through the essentials with you on a one-to-one basis.
Alternatively, any questions - just ask Mumsnet ( between them, the ladies here know everything!

norash40 · 02/03/2005 15:21

I think I have learnt more at mumsnet than from any mw.I have found this site very useful and I feel better knowing that I am speaking to people who have been or going through pregnancy.

Has anyone in here had their baby (s) yet?

3mummy · 02/03/2005 16:17

Have to tell you this as I think it's soooo funny. The other day I was saying to dh how knackered I am all the time and he said I should be eating mars bars, so I told him I'm getting a fair quota of creme eggs (3 a day!!) at the moment and he said (quite shirtily) "well mars bars contain plenty of glucose, you need lots of that right now - can you guarantee your creme eggs contain as much?!". Arrh bless him - he them went and bought me 10 mars bars with instructions to eat one a day until the first signs of labour - then I MUST eat two straight off!! what a wonderful man, love him to bits!

Changing subject, how are you all coping with driving? I've never driven past 37wks before what with dd1 being 3wks early and never needing to go out in a car when expecting dd2. I am finding it really awkward - bump really getting in the way - there's no law against it is there?

Just about to tuck in to my "mars of the day" - also just had a creme egg hee, hee.

norash40 · 02/03/2005 16:21

Are you really having 'a mas a day'?

Nik72 · 02/03/2005 16:27

Thanks so much for the welcome!
All this creme egg chat has reminded me I've got 4 of them in the fridge . Am booked for induction next week & although prefer the idea of going into labour myself it is nice to have a definite end in sight. The midwife says my cervix has started to dilate anyway so fingers crossed. At least it's not the 1940s - my poor granny went 3 weeks overdue & was induced by being made to drink a bottle of castor oil & have a massive enema!!!!! Imagine being THREE WEEKS late - just one week has turned me into a raving loon!

norash40 · 02/03/2005 16:27

Anyone taking rasberry leaf tea or tablets? What's the general feeling about them?

norash40 · 02/03/2005 16:30

It must be a nightmare Nik. I don't know how I will feel if I am overdue. 36 weeks today and he is so heavy already I wish he would come already.

Nik72 · 02/03/2005 16:35

To be honest I don't feel physically any worse than 36 weeks - I think it's more emotional, the hormones seem to be raging a bit & I feel like I've got bad PMT. DH being really sweet considering!

norash40 · 02/03/2005 16:39

I think it is important to have a supportive and understanding patner. I don't know what I would have done without mine. My baby is already almost 8 pounds at 36 weeks. I just hope he slows down or comes on time.

Otherwise I think I will go mad.

3mummy · 02/03/2005 16:45

Yup, am definitely having a mars a day ! And thoroughly enjoying it. doing it purely for health reasons you understand . - Need to keep my strength up.

norash40 · 02/03/2005 17:11

Is it a craving for Mas bars or you just have it for the energy? Are you not worried about putting on too much weight as a result?

3mummy · 02/03/2005 17:18

No not a craving, the only food fad I've had is a total aversion to chicken - can't even cook it due to the smell, used to love it but from the moment of conception it has made me wretch! I don't worry about the weight gain as I've only put on 1lb so far, and am quite amused by this as I put loads on with the last two - 3st with dd1 and bout the same with dd2. Can't see me putting 2st 13lbs on in 3 weeks .

norash40 · 02/03/2005 17:40

You are so lucky . I have had no cravings which I am glad about. so when is your baby due?

bonym · 02/03/2005 18:09

3mummy - 1lb!!!! Really? How on earth have you managed that? I thought I was doing quite well having put on "only" 1.5 st

bonym · 02/03/2005 18:11

Norash - I've recently started taking raspberry leaf tablets (when I remember!!) - I took them towards the end of my 1st pg and my labour was only 5.5 hrs - whether this was an effect of the tablets though, I can't say!
