Still no action here on the baby front!

Sweeney - you are so right about due dates. This time I've managed to be pretty relaxed about mine, because dd was late, so I've just assumed all along that this one would be too. But yesterday I got so stressed out when I had the show, and dp was sick in bed. And I know it was because it was THE DAY and I was anxious about it. Now I seem to have gone back into 'whatever will be' mode. This baby is going to come at some point after all!

The class with yehudi gordon sounds great. I have just read Ina May Gaskin's Guide to childbirth, and am feeling utterly inspired. She's an incredible US midwife who has achieved astonishing rates of natural birth amongst her clients. I really wish I'd found the book in my last pregnancy.

Oh and dp claims to be on the mend. Hurrah. He even said he owes me big time for being out of action for the last 10 days. Not that it's his fault really. Well, other than going to work right when he first got ill, when he should have stayed home and probably would have got better much faster. So boneym - am hoping my body is tuned in and ready to go sometime soon!

Am feeling pretty snoozy after my busy day, so am thinking of retiring to bed with a book and getting a good long sleep in. Have a full day with dd tomorrow, so will need all my energy to keep her entertained.

Good all of you who are seriously waiting for some baby action right now!

sweeney · 03/03/2005 21:51

great!!!!mother earth support!!!!!!!!
i've read thaat book too pidge-'beetroot' , a friend, who put me on to mumsnet, bought it as a gift. it's fantastic isn't it? the best i've read throughout pregnancy. love the concept that giving birth might be orgasmic.........
the class with yehudi gordon is called,'anticipating the birth of your family'. some of my fellow yoga women have him as their consultant and my sister did with her 2 kids and i don't think he's mind blowing or anything. not to put him down but he's an ordinary bloke i guess. what he set up and has introduced, active birth, water birth , minimal medical intervention, etc, is mind blowing though.

Hi girlies,
sorry I haven't been around for ages, last time I wrote a really long post after my baby shower at the begining of Feb and my stupid computer deleted it just as I'd finished, wrote it againa nd did the same thing so I had given up all this time- stupid laptop! I';; try and save as I go this time ;) hope you're all doing well, I've still been following you all in your plights. I'm due on Monday 7th march but have already started feeling mild contractions- i think. I've been having period like cramps along my back and top of uterus since Tuesday night but only certain times of day. My midwife gave me a cervical sweep yesterday ( horrible experience) and said my cervix had already opened up one fingers worth because of the contractions and should be due any day between now and next week. It's cool because it's giving me a warning so I'm trying to get babies clothes washed and stuff. Can't wait I want it to be today! I feel fine and have been trying to sleep to keep energy up as we don't know when it will be our last sleep ( ever) Can't wait to meet baby, I know labour will be bloody difficult but psyched up now and want to get it pver with! Has anyone else had contractions so unfrequently and then havethem just stop? reading about all this choccie is making me hungry, I had a plan, I've bought lots of easter eggs to scoff now as I'll probably feen guilty eating them at easter as baby will hopefully be here and no excuse for being pig!

popsycal · 04/03/2005 11:17

Londonmummy - i have been having similar symtpms since the weekend but have given up hope of EVER going into labour now! LOL!
It has to come soon though.

Am trying to have (another) tidy up day today whilst DS is at his childminders but everything is taking me so long to do and I keep getting 'stuck' with my backside in the air and finding it hard to stand up straight again!!

I am going to re-pack my hospital bag at some point today - currently two small bags: a baby one and a mummy one as I was envisaging me being in hospital with high bp before the baby came. It seems more sensible to have a labour one and an 'everything else' one now though!

Wish the baby would hurry up now. Trying to just get on with things but definitely getting to the grumpy, 'I am not answeringthe phone' stage!!

Londonmummy05 · 04/03/2005 11:24

popsycal, i hear you on the not answering the phone thing! It;s like all of a sudden people I haven't spoken to for months are calling and want to meet uo before baby comes, I've benn doing nothing for 9 months but feel free to pester me the week I;m due! I know they're just trying ti be nice but I just want to chill out now it's like I'm on my own planet know and just winding down, the snow is such a good excuse to be housebound as well ;)

popsycal · 04/03/2005 11:30

And the text messages!!! even my dad is sending me hourly messages simply saying '?'

I feel like i need to hit someone!
lol

jolly4 · 04/03/2005 11:50

popscal were you suppose too be due in feb ? curious i am sure we were disscusing being on the sick whilst pg months ago arent you the schoolteacher?

jolly4 · 04/03/2005 11:59

sorry pops just gone throu list you are due march

oceanmama · 04/03/2005 12:38

Wow! It's got so busy in here all of a sudden Welcome to all the new people.

Hope that your DP is feeling better today Pidge (and that dinner party meal sounds divine!) All the chocolate talk has forced me to stock up on Green and Blacks - I figure I need the extra energy...

Sympathy to all those who are overdue or just fed up with waiting. With any luck we should get a few more birth announcements soon - could the list be updated to include graduates as well?

popsycal · 04/03/2005 12:38

jolly4 - i kept opping in to the feb thread as I was sure i would be induced early....

3mummy · 04/03/2005 12:58

Afternoon ladies.

Just thought I'd pop on and let you know how my 37wk check with MW went this morning. I'm currently half way through having lunch at my Dads next door but had to pop back home to let boiler man in......... which is now fixed hurray !!

Mw says baby is 2/5 engaged (does this count with no.3? Didn't think they angaged??), and could arrive any day now.... whoooopeeeee .
Blood pressure nice and low (does that explain why I'm succh a dizzy cow?) and she also had a good old feel around and reckons it's not a very big baby, prob quite small.... not in "worrying" terms, just a nice size. Doesn't bother me, my last two were "nice size" (6lb 5 and 7lb 5) and they still hurt like hell to get out and tore me to shreds!! LOL!

Hope you are all feeling full of energy - get those Mars bars down you girls!! and I'll be back later to check on you all......... think I've had too much coffee, feeling slightly hyper . Only had one cup but I only have 2 a year - any more and I get migraine.

xx

Pidge · 04/03/2005 14:16

No news here on the baby front either. Just lots more 'show' (sorry - v. unappealing!).

Have had another action-packed morning. Took dd swimming and got thoroughly snowed on. Then walked home through the melting slush, baked fruit loaf with dd and then a friend and her 2.5 year old plus 5 week old arrived and ended up staying for lunch.

Dp managed a morning in school and is now tucked up in bed again worn out. But claims he's definitely getting better. Think I might join him for a nap - if only because the dishwasher has packed up again and the alternative to snooze is a mountain of washing up .

Leogaela · 04/03/2005 15:32

So, as far as we know there are still no March babies born in March! My symapthies to all of you that are suffering!

Pidge - thanks, I feel really proud of myself as I really didn't think I would be able to cope with a baby, I was really worried about it and part of me was dreading it. Somehow things have just fallen into place though. All respect to single mums, I think things would have been very different if I hadn't had the support from dh. Oh, I did cry when we first got home and the first time we went out with Niklas in the pushchair....

Weighed myself this morning. I have lost 9Kg (1.4 stone) since Niklas was born!

3mummy · 04/03/2005 16:51

No one in labour yet then? Because, of course we'll all rush to type on here the minute our waters break or we get the first twinge .

2wks, 5days and counting......zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

misdee · 04/03/2005 16:53

c'mon you lot, start doing some star jumps or something . today was my due date by LMP. weird thinking that my Serena is already here.

Leogaela · 04/03/2005 17:01

Misdee, I keep thinking the same thing about Niklas! Can't imagine how it would be now to still be waiting for him. Actually it feels as if he has always been here!

OP posts:
3mummy · 04/03/2005 17:02

Misdee... Grrrrrrrrr , stop boasting !

I'd had my dd1 by this time, and with the comment about none of the March babies having been born in March yet I'm thinking I'll end up on the April thread!!

Dh is home tomorrow and says he does not want to go to work next week so he's going to do his best to help with induction tomorrow evening!! So maybe I'll have another child born on Mothers day (dd2 4yrs ago) .

bonym · 04/03/2005 17:32

3mummy at dh helping with induction! I had 37 week midwife appt today as well and my baby is also 2/5ths engaged - although was this time last week as well. I remember reading somewhere that 2nd and subsequent babies don't usually engage until labour but midwife said just because the head is engaged now doesn't mean it can't pop out again!

Pidge - I am in complete awe of you - I don't know where you get your energy from! I have had the laziest day today - spent most of the morning on mumsnet (apart from 1/2 hr when midwife called), then had lunch while watching Desperate Housewifes that I'd recorded the other night, went to the sorting office to pick a couple of parcels up, got something "ready" in from M&S as feel too tired to cook today and then went to bed for a sleep! I've just got up and to my shame am back on MN again! I didn't have to pick dd up from school today as she has gone to a friend's house for tea. \

Welcome back LondonMummy - glad to see you're still with us - though sounds as though it may not be for long if your sweep works - are you going to be the next to give birth? I think Popsy will be if you beat her to it! Not to mention Pidge! . Mind you , still no birth announcements from Preggiemum, girlyh or shaalaa - they MUST have had their babes by now.

thedame71 · 04/03/2005 18:35

Hi everyone, don't post often but still hanging in here. Due on 7th (Monday), baby has been 2/5 engaged for a couple of weeks now - its blooming uncomfortable.

I keep getting braxtons/mild contractions ? at night and I think this is it only to fall asleep and wake up in the morning!

Both my DS's arrived on the due date so I have never experienced being late but since this is a girl she may decide to take her time. Dear god I hope not!

Good luck everyone xxx

Girly · 04/03/2005 18:47

well now we do have a march baby, mine arrived on wednesday after a 55 min active labour!!!!!!!!!
Will do a birth announcement when i have some energy!

After all the palava with the birth pool and not being able to have a home birth Millie Jane Anderson was born in a the birth pool in hospital with no pain relief other than G&A. she weighs in at 7lbs 10oz, both of us are safe and well although I did go into shock for about 30 mins after due to the speed and pain of the delivery.

We came home yesterday and am still in a mad happy hormonal state and totally in love, will post more detail when i get around to doing the birth announcement but have to go now as Mille wants her grub!

misdee · 04/03/2005 18:49

oh wow!!!

congratulations, and its a girl for girly then!! (i'm useless at remembering if u knew what you were having)

post pics up if you can soon.

thedame71 · 04/03/2005 18:50

Wow! Congratulations on the safe arrival of baby millie and well done you!
x

3mummy · 04/03/2005 18:53

Well done and congratulations Girly! Lets hope you've started something!!

Pidge · 04/03/2005 18:55

Girly - FANTASTIC NEWS - have been thinking of you very much the last fews days. Can't wait to read the birth announcement. And gorgeous names ... Millie was actually very high on our list, but ruled out because it nearly rhymes with my surname, which is what the baby will get.

So excited we have a March baby at last ... come on ladies who's next? Having got all anxious on Wednesday that mine might turn up whilst dp was laid up in bed, I'm now back in disbelief mode and think I'll be pregnant forever! Dp did manage half a day at work today, before being sent home by his colleagues, so there's some hope he'll be fit enough to blow up the birthing pool before we need it!

popsycal · 04/03/2005 19:19

Congratulations Girly (again). I knew already but didnt want to steal her thunder Sorry for keeping it a secret ladies!!!!!

Well this baby has been really winggly today after about a week of quietening down a bit.....sign?????

Having a small glass of beer now
Even considering star jumps!
Not sex though
