Brand new thread ladies!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Thanks for the kind thoughts. I hope everyone's OK today.

Well the one outcome we didn't think of was that they wouldn't be able to perform the CVS at all - and that's what happened today.

My placenta is in such a dodgy place around the back the Dr said 'if you were my wife I'd never allow it'. The risk of puncturing my bladder and/or membranes is too big. So we have to wait for two weeks until they can do an amniotic fluid test. Bl**dy hell.

Love to everyone.

PS: We need a new thread soon - I'm still hanging in there!

jollyjoanne · 15/09/2008 12:27

Mandy, I am still thinking of you, the waiting must be awful.

Meep, I hope things go OK for you.

Can't stand marmite - and currently that position hasn't changed with the pregnancy although I can't promise that will continue.

As for the stomach issues I have IBS so nothing is particularly unusual for me. But strangely fibre (as in bran flakes etc) normally helps to ensure that things work better - whichever problem you're having.

Good afternoon ladies!

I have spent the whole morning in a hot, stuffy conference room listening to how well my company has performed...but how crap a bonus we will get!! I now feel light headed and sick!

I have been having some pains in my uterus area, and a little higher up as well...not sharp or what you might consider to be painful...more really uncomfortable aching, I don't really know how to describe it!! I think I might try with fetal doppler again tonight, have tried twice before but I knew it was far too early!! And even if i cant hear anything...I am seeing the midwife on Monday!

Mandy...sorry to hear you've got to wait even longer...proud of you hanging in there!!

Meep...hope you are doing well!

I popped into mothercare yesterday...only as it was on the shooping park we were at so we thought we would have a look!! Only we didn't stop long as I felt a complete fraud!! Everyone was in there with their little babies or their big bumps!!

MKG · 15/09/2008 14:18

Oh Mandy I feel for you. I hope that these next two weeks go quickly for you.

fififlores · 15/09/2008 15:34

Does anyone know what Corgikelly´s nuchal result was? I met her on another thread to talk about it - I´d love to know how it came eout.

I'm getting aches and pains too, but I'm not worrying about it, midwife said it was normal.
I'm starting to think about maternity clothes, even though I don't really need any yet. I'm already beginning to despair that I won't be able to find any that I like that are anywhere near affordable!

SpookyMadMummy · 15/09/2008 19:11

Yes , aches and pains here too...
I told Dh it was his fault

Not me, I'd just get it wrong! But let me know where you go!!

Mandy, how frustrating for you. After psyching yourself up for it too, you must have felt pretty deflated after...?

Meep, sorry to hear your high risk result, but my friend had the same, 1 in 75 and she was fine so lets hope you will be too. xxxx

I have my downs checks on Friday. Will be nervous after the fact, not before. More concerned right now how we are going to finance a third child in a recession. Nightmare.

I like apples right now....

corgikelly · 16/09/2008 08:49

Hi fififlores - thanks for checking in! Just back after a week's belated summer hols, cycling in the Loire Valley and then a visit with friends in Washington DC.

The doctor called last week to say my combined risk was 1 in 473, which she said was very good for someone of my doddering years. Well, maybe she didn't put it exactly like that, but that seemed to be the gist.

I was hoping for better, but I'll take that. We've decided not to do a follow-up amnio, and will just wait and see what we learn, if anything, from the detailed 20-week scan.

Will be catching up on events on the board tonight, as work is calling now.

emma2617 · 16/09/2008 09:09

Morning!! Glad I'm not the only one with aches and pains...feel a lot better!! I would have asked my midwife but I didnt like the only one I've met where I have moved to so I don't have much confidence...will wait and see what happens at my 16 week appointment!!

On the up side...I am certain I felt bambino move last night. I woke up in the middle of the night to pee and when I got back in to bed I laid down and there was definate movement I just hope I wasn't imagining it!!

Its almost time for a new thread...as hedgewithch said...whos gonna volunteer?!?!

lizziemun · 16/09/2008 09:32

Emma

thats one of the things they don't tell you about being pregant how painful/uncomfortable it can be when your womb is growing.

emma2617 · 16/09/2008 09:46

I know lizzi i had figured out a lot of the stuff they don't tell you about being pregnant...but the aches and pains should a lot better advertised!!!

Does anyone else out there have bad skin now you're pg?!?! I feel like I have regressed to being a teenager again, my skin is horrendous!! I look like I've got a disease, especially on my forehead

I haven't bought any books yet...I was kind of hoping I wouldn't turn into a neurotic worrier...but I may have to buy one just to stop me fretting every 20 minutes!!!
I will hae a look for that what to expect when youre expecting...I always take the scientific approach!!

Starshinetiger · 16/09/2008 13:37

Hi all, just a quick post on here. Sorry I haven't posted for ages, but with feeling so sick and tired and work being stressful, I usually get about as far as catching up or skimming, but not posting. Had scan this morning - was a relief to see baby moving around, heart beating and just one in there . Had bloods for nuchal testing, so just wait and see now. Feel it's real, but also still not telling work, so want to burst about it . Sorry for those of you still waiting for results or not getting the best results. Thinking of you. Could not comfortably do up one of my staple pairs of black trousers this morning, so fearing I might be in need of maternity clothes sooner rather than later (didn't buy a lot last time and most was summery, as I was pg over the long hot summer of 2006), so news won't stay quiet for long I don't think. I'm only 13+2 [winkg]!!!!
Not brave enough to start new thread, so I'll let someone else do it - think we have 5 posts left!

dinny · 16/09/2008 13:40

I am ADDICTED to apples - am on at least 3-4 a day!!
