Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
VintageGardenia · 29/07/2008 19:46

albs you sound as if you are coping really well despite being exhausted. I'm glad you got some good advice in relation to the feeding, it can be so overwhelming in the early days, just at the time you feel least able to cope. Glad that your DD is being such a poppet for you as well. Aren't the first weeks just bananas?? Well done you. AND you have managed to summon time and energy for MN - RESPECT!

Sibh your little fellow sounds just my cup of tea! I love the sound of him. I can see how it's been a bit choppy for him though, so many changes afoot all at once. I think we can underestimate the love children have for their routine and expectations. DS was very shaken, for example, when we moved house, he was so sentimental about the old house (a very ordinary house, mind you) and went all "Oh, in my OLD room I used to do X, Y, Z" etc with a dreadful expression of misery on his face - even though he actually loves the new house.

TS echoing what others have said, you can't possibly not eat because there's a chance you'll go into labour! You'll end up weak and wobbly and more tired and will do yourself no favours. Someone said little & often, do that & keep your energy up. How's your DD doing since her granny arrived?

bb that really stinks about the due date thing, what a daft thing to say at this stage.

AnnVan, ChaCha, CC, Buckets, preg1, oops, and everyone else, am too pooped to do more than say hello. dizzy more hugs if you're out there. Going to drop into bed now.

miamla thinking of you! And Jenny hoping for swift & smooth progression.

xxx

AnnVan · 29/07/2008 19:49

ALBS - whereabouts in East London are you?? I've just moved rom East london myself. Have lived at mile End, Hackney, Bethnal Green and Beckton over the last four years! Wish I'd known beore!!

PetitFilou1 · 29/07/2008 20:13

albs Sympathies re the feeding. The first few weeks are tough. I definitely remember crying at dh when dd was cluster feeding in the evenings and saying 'there just isn't anymore in there' - I was so tired. Boys seem to need more milk in the early months too - I think their growth curve is faster to start with (although I could be making that up!) at mw suggesting top ups on day 2 - but I am not surprised.

It isn't necessarily easier second time round. dd really took to it and never had a bottle but even so I still had to ring the NCT helpline to get advice (which was great I have to say) when she was feeding every hour and a half. I just keep in my head that at 6 months she took 10 minutes to feed and it was so easy and I hope that keeps me going this time!

Helloo All

Wow so many possible babies today - come on girls we need more babies!!!!

Keep meaning to say for those still waiting don't forget the PELVIC FLOOR - i can't even side step in to mornings before i've been to the loo so am making a concerted effot.

ALBS - you are doing amazingly seen as you also have amother DC to look after.

BB - I have dates ranging from the 18th (her leg length) to the 28th (our first scan date)- we stuck to the nuchal scan dates of the 24th it seemed in the middle - they were very flexible about us chosing our date. I had 24th as Fertility clinic date too.

DIZZY Sending you and family lots of (hugs)

CaptainCaveman · 29/07/2008 21:35

sounds great albs . I can't wait to start bf again. I remember getting really excited as the days went by and ds fed for longer periods (wtf!?) as that meant they would let us out of hospital...(ds was 5lb 7oz and dropped to below 5lb, they wouldn't let him home til he reached 5lb). As soon as we were home, his feeds averaged 10-20 mins but he constantly put on weight so I wasn't worried that he wasn't getting enough - obv just drank quickly!!
Give Henry a hug from his mn aunties!!

How is it 9.30 already????? Must get off and away to bed to give the cankles chance to calm down!

oopsacoconut · 29/07/2008 21:47

TS - please don't have the baby today!!! We will need a new thread title

CC sleep well and hope cankles get some relief.

TwilightSurfer · 30/07/2008 01:06

Well Oops you're getting your wish as it's 8PM and no baby yet. Nor any sign. Contractions died out completely after lunch. Spagetti had the reverse effect. Had spagetti for dinner just now.....maybe I'll get to SLEEP ALL NIGHT LONG WITHOUT contractions waking me.

DH came home and said this is so much like when he was in the Army....pack your bags and wait....... I'm bored silly though. I want to go out and do things but don't have the energy nor the tolerance for the hip pain. I've been sitting here on the porch since......3PM.

VG DD is finally getting comfortable with Grandma Eleanor. She even took her nap in Grandma's bed today....mind you I had to slip in and put on pullup so Grandma wasn't sleeping in a waterbed this evening. It's been nice and easier to have her here ahead of time since they'd spent so little time together before. Even at 4 years old there's a level of trust that has to be built.

Feeling kind of out of the loop with all the BF chat. I'm thinking more and more that I'm not going to try it this time. I'm sure that will cause a firestorm attack or banishment from the thread but it's the truth and I have my own personal reasons. However I do raise my glass high to all of you who are proving to be totally amazing and making it work.

Did anyone hear from Dizzy today?

What about an update from Miamla, Jenny or Bealcain??

Are the ladies with babies going to begin a post natal thread or stick around with us for a spell??

oopsacoconut · 30/07/2008 05:41

And the wind whistles by.... aaah and theres some tumble weed toooo.

TS Am pleased to hear that Grandma and DD are finally getting to know and trust is being built - it can only help DD to adjust once babysurfer arrives. As for BF - you need to go with what is right for you not what everyone else thinks is right - no point in stressing yourself out over something you are not comfortable doing. I plan to BF this little one as she is my first and would feel bad for not trying but if it dosen't work then I will not be feeling guilty.

Now what shall I bake today - chocolate brownies? lemon and poppy seed muffins - aaaah so much choice. DH staying home today again to finally do bubs' room - we have had a few original Disney movie posters framed (Jungle Book, Lion King and Oliver and Co.) and now the walls just needs a wash down and final touch up, cot needs cleaning and bringing in and we might have a baby's room.

ChaCha · 30/07/2008 06:02

Morning Oops - Impressed at 5am chirpiness and choice of baking!!

Albs - Was great to read your update! More! You'll really need to start a PN thread asap for us all. And sorry Albs, major LOL at your need for oxygen once in the ROOM minus DH. I nearly died last time when they said DH wasn't allowed in - ohhhhh, got it all to come again.

Think the day has officially begun for me then, have been hibernating in the bathroom for last half hour having woken with awful sickness and TMI would have been put just here. Not sure what to do being today, I gave up on the online grocery shop last night, could no longer think so should probably get that out of the way and finally close my bag and spend a nice evening with DC.

I am God willing, having a baby tomorrow!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

miamla · 30/07/2008 06:30

Morning ladies
I'm a mum!!!!!!!!!!!!
Theodore was born at 1.45 this morning. Weighed in at 8lb 4 and had a whopping head measuring 36cm
He's done nothing but sleep so far!
Just sent DP and my lovely friend home. Think they're more tired than I am!
Not 100% on exact timings but it roughly went like this...
Appt at 9.30 with consultant, had a sweep and because baby wasn't moving v much went up to unit for monitoring.waters broke at 12.30,contractions started hurting at 5.30 then baby born at 1.45.apparently I was in true labour for 7.5 hours. I'm really quite pleased with myself!
Sorry, ahven't caught up with other news,I'm off to try and sleep now. Night all x

miamla · 30/07/2008 06:35

Damn! Forgot to look out the window at the doves flying by!

ChaCha · 30/07/2008 06:43

VintageGardenia · 30/07/2008 06:50

miamla congratulations on Theodore! Well done, well done, well done. Mummy Miamla. Hope you have a lovely day with him today xxx.

TS I would agree with oops on the BF thing. I am planning to do it again, I want to, but if it doesn't work out I'm not going to put on a hair shirt and flog myself as the bells strike 6 or whatever. You do what you feel happy and comfortable with, your choice.

ChaCha tomorrow tomorrow tomorrow. I'll find out today if I'll be with you. Effing terrified this morning. Eek.

ps GORGEOUS name miamla

VintageGardenia · 30/07/2008 06:51

CaptainCaveman · 30/07/2008 07:01

Been up since 5.30 here too - full of a ruddy cold and not able to sleep properly. Poor dh, I am snoring like a monster with this pg and the cold can only make things worse (it's normally his snoring that wakes me up!). I don't feel to bad atm but am sure come midday I will be needing to sleep - and I'm sure I will

Back to assessment unit today at consultants request - will flash my cankles at them . Anyone got a pot to pee in? I seem to have run out!!

ChaCha · 30/07/2008 07:01
