Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
FruitynNutty · 21/07/2008 14:35

Right, I know it's very very early days but I've been thinking of names.
We both LOVE Olivia but the only boys name we can both agree on is Henry. It would go with our DS who has a very traditional English name. I love Sebastian but DP not having any of it. He likes Jesse (for a boy???) errr no!

Have any of you been thinking about names yet? Or am I an eager beaver?

OP posts:
Yarnie · 21/07/2008 14:55

Fruity DF and I had our names picked out for ages before we even started TTC(!) We like Spike for a boy and Audrey for a girl. However, I have a baby name dictionary and I am going through it methodically to check there aren't any better names I think Olivia is a beautiful name

I think I put my mum off for life! She has never wanted another child and so won't be troubled by that aspect of the menopause. She is a quite concerned about getting older though and will see the menopause as the first milestone towards being an older woman.

It would be weird but wonderful if your MIL adopted!

Emmsy1 · 21/07/2008 15:00

mibbes so pleased that your 20 week scan was ok xx

mollie really hope your scan is ok for Tuesday,I know it's easier said than done, but try not to worry!

fruity I do like the name Olivia, but my little girl hates it, she has been hit a few times by an Olivia in her class! (Teacher does know about it)

yarnie the tiredness really hit me this time round, seem to come back to life once I got into the second trimester, have started to feel tired again now, even had a nap for an hour an a half this afternoon as DH is of work today, I never usually sleep in the middle of the day! When I was pregnant with DD who is now 5, I was jogging at least 3 times a week right upto approx 20ish weeks,I was 38 then, it would have killed me this time round, or maybe I have just taken it easy this time round after having 2 M/C's, still knackered though!

Yarnie · 21/07/2008 15:04

Mibbes So glad your scan went well So lovely!! I am disproportionately excited for you - perhaps because there's a whiff of what's to come (fingers tightly crossed) for me.

20 weeks - you're half way through!

mibbes · 21/07/2008 22:34

Thanks ladies - will scan and post photos tomorrow night, been working late so too tired. Fruity why am I not surprised you are onto names already - you are a very keen bean !! My DP thinks it is still too early to discuss names - much to my annoyance !

MollieMooma · 22/07/2008 11:46

Mibbes So pleased your scan went well hun, must be so reassuring.
Well I had my scan this morning, we saw a blob, but it was a blob with a heartbeat!! Yey, I think it might be sinking in a bit now! DH looked really emotional after bless him, they even gave us a picture although they said they don't normally do it, I think she just felt sorry for us!
Not feeling quite as rough as I did yesterday but I think most of that was nerves now.
Oh and the scan made me just over 6 wks so definately OV'd late, I thought I was 7 wks tomorrow. Dating scan is now booked for the 18th August when I will be about 10.5 wks
Hello to everyone else will have to catch up with all the threads now

Sparkly08 · 22/07/2008 12:43

^Sneaks in^ and whispers Mollie I can't believe you didn't post about scan in the waiting room...I had to come allll the way over here and find you. I'm so happy everything went well. Congratulations lovely lady.

I hope I get to join you all one day. xxxx

FruitynNutty · 22/07/2008 13:03

Mollie aw bless, I can't wait to see the heart beat! I bet your mind's at rest now isn't it? You must put the pic on your profile! I LOVE scan pictures, they just make me melt
That's great you get a dating scan as well, I thought this scan was the dating scan?
I've got my 2nd scan next Thursday morning. Should be about 6+2 by then so hopefully will see a bit more than last week I'm going to get a picture even if it doesn't show much!

Hey Sparkly you'll be a regular in here very soon don't you worry {{{{{Hugs}}}}}}

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 22/07/2008 13:39

Pssst. Am sneaking in too to say congrats to Mollie. Really, really pleased for you.

And Fruity, am I allowed to give my opinion on names? Pretty please! DD2 was going to be Olivia Camille. But ended up as Liberty Violet! So LOVE the name Olivia. Also love Henry. Good luck for scan next week. Fingers crossed.

MollieMooma · 22/07/2008 14:11

Thanks girls, I just didn't want to make Lobster feel bad, she's just had a scan for obviously different reasons and didn't want to rub her nose in it x
I will put the photo on but you really can't see much, I'll try and do it later on this evening
Do feel more relaxed now, but will probably start worrying about the next one now
Fruity I love Olivia and Henry they are both lovely, we are thinking of Grace or Megan (I also like Matilda shortened to Tilly) and Ewan.

FruitynNutty · 22/07/2008 14:24

So not only are we all stunningly gorgeous, we all have fantastic taste in names too
so pleased you all seem to like Henry, my RL friends aren't so sure
Mibbes Yes I've always got over excited about things I always want everything RIGHT NOW! I can't wait 5 minutes to do something. Don't be surprised if I have my new double buggy before my 12 weeks scan haha. I can use Childminding as an excuse though
Yarnie Spike is wicked Would that be his actual name? or will it be short for something?
Emmsy So Olivia is a bully's name? If my little girl hits anyone, she'll have me to deal with
Georgie Lovely name for your DD. My DS is called Charlie William so I reckon names like Henry and Olivia should go quite well with his name.
Mollie I LOVE Matilda but close friends have a Matilda the same age as our DS. Grace was on our list for DS. Megan's gorgeous too. See, I have loads of girls names I like, just a struggle with a boy.
Ewan's lovely but not sure if DP is keen.

FruitynNutty · 22/07/2008 15:05

OH my GOD I can't stop eating crap crap crap. I'm going ot be huge at this rate. My belly is expanding hugely, had to buy lose smock type tops at the weekend to hide my love handles. I can't wear any of my jeans either I do realise this is just fat as the little button in there is only about the size of a pin head. What am I gonna do? I just want to eat all the time! My low appetite didn't last long last weekend

OP posts:
MollieMooma · 22/07/2008 16:33

Yarnie Meant to say I like your names too, loving Spike, were you a fan of Buffy when it was on TV by any chance?
Fruity Think of your wedding dress LMAO at your appetite, wait til the MS kicks in, did you get sick with your DS?

FruitynNutty · 22/07/2008 17:49

Right, now I feel sick! I've had (on top of my usual breakfast and lunch) 3/4 of a whole malt loaf and half a melt in middle choc pudding Why am I doing this to myself? I've got to snap out of it before I ruin my body

OP posts:
Yarnie · 23/07/2008 07:14

Morning All

Fruity Spike would be his actual name. I love Spike Milligan and, yes Mollie I was a fan of Buffy, too! Fruity, like Mollie says, I reckon your just getting a few calories in to see you through the MS period! Don't worry too much. If you're really bothered, try not to keep too much tempting food in the house

Before TTC, DF and I were trying to eat healthily in order to loose a few pounds. DF was doing better than me . For some reason it's gone out the window for him now and I'm losing a pound every few days. He is very that his pg girlfriend is losing more weight than him! I had to remind him that the bean is less than 2mm long and unlikely to be contributing much to my weight! I hasten to add, I'm not dieting. I think the lack of alcohol, unpasturised cheeses, rare red meat, etc is to blame.

Mollie I'm really glad your scan went well and how lovely to see the hb! I'm fairly sure my first scan is a long way off, probably another 7 weeks! I am very of you ladies. I wish I had more symptoms of pg so I could be a tiny bit reassured that everything is ok. At the moment, my lack of AF is the only real symptom. I have twinges in my lower stomach, but I could dream those up easily.

cricri · 23/07/2008 10:40

Morning ladies!
Great news about your scan Mollie A little bit of reassurance for you, although I know you won't be able to relax just yet. Keep focusing on that pic of your bean to get you through the anxious moments
Hope the ms hasn't kicked in - I was never physically sick but just felt really nauseous which was horrible I ended up eating only rice and pasta for what felt like weeks. Couldn't face vegetables at all. Just go with what your body wants, it will pass.
Fruity How are you doing?
Yarnie It's still early days for you, the symptoms will kick in soon. Although some women don't have many and that's nothing to worry about either.
I'm being told by my family that I must be carrying a boy because my bump is all out front. I keep telling them that doesn't mean anything either! I'll be finding out in 10 days anyway at the 4D scan... Can't wait! My gran keeps scrutinising me and saying "Ooh, your bump has grown" or "Your boobs don't look any bigger, hope you don't have problems with BF" Gee, thanks for the reassurance! She means well I suppose. Everybody is really excited which is nice I'm feeling good on the whole, a bit of backache but I've put on my support belt and it's a lot better.
Hello to Disenchanted Good to see you back.
Hope everybody else, Mibbes, Emmsy and anybody else I've forgotten.
Perhaps we should start a little list on this thread with everybody's EDDs?

MollieMooma · 23/07/2008 10:57

I really regret asking for Morning Sickness I'm not allowed to complain coz I asked but oh my I am so sick, and what happened to "Morning" it's all bloody day

MollieMooma · 23/07/2008 11:09

CriCri Hope you will post pictures from the 4D scan, how exciting 10 days! Here's hoping it flies by!

FruitynNutty · 23/07/2008 12:52

Yarnie I know I shouldn't have temptation in the house but my mum keeps bringing me stuff and I can't throw it in the bin. I've told her so many times too.
I'm now tucking into a plate of tinned spaghetti on toast (see, told you I was eating crap) I'm not not not going to have anything else till dinner time!

Cricri Can't wait to see the pictures! We're going to have a 4D scan seeing as we don't need to buy anything for the baby as we have everything already. I've started saving for the scan already

Oh mollie poor you At least its reassurance though

OP posts:
mibbes · 23/07/2008 13:30

Mollie poor you getting MS but at least you may feel more reassured - you did ask for it !
cricri support belt ? where do I get one of those, am getting a ahcey back on and off and am not that big yet, am concerned will bein agony in a few weeks.
Fruity my SIL got a 4D scan done at the Baby Show for £100 special offer - check and see when the next one is in London

MollieMooma · 23/07/2008 14:11

If it was just the MS I could probably cope but because of empty tummy IBS has flared up and I'm in agony. Got GP appt for tomorrow but not complaining

Emmsy1 · 23/07/2008 14:13

mollie most girls want M/S to take hold at the beginning it helps us all believe in our pregnancies. Oh boy, it can be a real pain in the but when it does kick in, I was desperate for it to end and was starting to think it wouldn't. If your lucky your's may stop earlier than some, think mine was still going strong until approx 17 weeks, now it's aches/pains/breathlessness/tiredness again!/constipation/heartburt/dizziness etc... Do you think mother nature tried her hardest to put us off having children?? Well hun, it didn't work with me, just need to go through the crappiest part of all now 'labour' but what a beautiful reward for all our hard work! xxx

Emmsy1 · 23/07/2008 14:14

Sorry yoy have IBS, hope the doc can sort that out for you xx

FruitynNutty · 23/07/2008 14:25

oooh mibbes great idea. I go every year. It'll be either at Earl's Court or Olympia
I've just managed to have a power nap on the sofa. Quite difficult with a 3 year old a 4 year old climbing all over me but at least I got to shut my eyes for half an hour while they watched Finding Nemo - I've been like a walking zombie today, I think the tiredness is really kicking in now

OP posts:
Yarnie · 23/07/2008 15:37

Mollie So sorry you're feeling bleurgh. I'm sure MS and IBS are unhappy bedfellows . Like Emmsy says at least it's a sign that all your hormones are flowing as they should be. Bet that's a small consolation when you're feeling like pooh, though.

If I do get MS, you can bet I'll kick myself for "asking for it" too, but pg makes us all a bit mental

Cricri Thank you for the reassurance! It's just unreal at this stage and any symptoms would bring it home a little. At the moment, I have all the anxiety without actually quite believing I'm pg(!)

at your gran and speculating over your BF capabilities. I'm already worrying a little about that (why not? - I'm worrying about everything else!). I have quite large norks (32-34E) and my bust size has increased 2cm already. I've read that large bosoms can overwhelm babies, and I have flat nips. MUST stop worring!

Fruity Your mum is naughty! I just made some granola which I'll snack on. It's yummy. Very good with fruit and plain yoghurt. I'm going to have to be creative about snacks to keep me going.
