Morning

DP has managed to get a picture from the DVD. I've added it to my profile, it's of Button's arm and leg

I think it's finally sunk into DP now. He even said goodbye to the baby when he went out last night

Aww another lovely pic Fruity.

cricri · 05/09/2008 18:11

Lovely pics Fruity and really pleased it went well It seems to have made things more real for DP too which is good
Your thyroid results look fine - there's somebody on MN (Leonie?) who knows a lot about this and I remember her posting once that the optimum TSH range in the first trimester is 0-2, ideally closer to 0 (which yours is) with the T4 level at the upper end of the range (11-22 is the normal range). I made a note of it at the time for future reference. I've never been given a figure for T3 levels - don't even know what they are! My consultant is mainly concerned with the TSH levels - the target in pregnancy is 0.4 - 2.0 according to his letter. My last result was 2.71 hence my at the GP saying it was normal. I was also taking 150mcg of thyroxine until that last result - the dose has now been increased to 200mcg.
Sparkly The BF session was really interesting and useful. We didn't express hand cream from a fake boob though although I did pick the breast pump out of the lucky dip bag which was passed around! The teacher was very keen to emphasise that BF shouldn't hurt and that if it does you're doing it wrong and then I spoke to one of my friends today who has BF 3 children and she said to expect some soreness at some stage. What do you experienced mums think?
Yarnie Not long to go now...
Teehee Hope you're OK.
Hi to everyone else

FruitynNutty · 05/09/2008 19:18

Thanks for the info Cricri I have no idea about the thyroid. I Just leave my fate in the hands of the gp I should probably look into it. All I know is the medication stops me getting really fat which is really important to me. Although obviously this doesn't count while pregnant! That is a high result! I wonder why you were told it was normal Maybe they got you mixed up with someone else - which is also very worrying!
I'm like a hoover at the moment.
DP texted me earlier saying he had just had Nutella on bread so I had to go and buy a jar. It's almost half gone already Think of the calcium! I've just had two wedges of cheese smothered in Branston [yummmm] Now trying to decide what to have for dinner
I'm sure I shouldn't be eating for 5 but when can we ever just enjoy ourselves? I'm hoping my greedy body will know when to stop

I've just told my Friday mindee's mum about the baby. She was really pleased for me She was really sweet. That's two down, three more to go! I'm not worried about 2 of them. It's just the horrible ones I'm a bit nervy about as I've got to give them notice too! I'm really excited about handing in the notice but nervous at the same time

Hi girls. Yes, I am fine really. Just been in a bit of a grump the last couple of days, for no particualar reason. I think I am just soooo tired and its a bit of a holiday come down. Y'know house is a mess, loads of washing and just feeling sick and tired. (I just feel so guilty moaning about being pregnant when I've wanted it so long)
I think a couple of days at home will sort me out.

Cricri Glad BF class went well, obv can't help with experiences as in same boat as you. In fact will be milking (scuse the pun) you and Mibbes for lots of info as fellow 1st timers and Sparkly Eeergh at hand cream!
Fruity Have you stopped watching the DVD yet?
Speaking of DVD's just watched Juno which I have avoided til now as thought might make me cry, it made me cry anyway but it was great and actually good cry has lifted my mood.

Off to find more to eat now - best cure for nausea - stuffing my face!

cricri · 06/09/2008 17:49

Mmm, Nutella Love the stuff! Especially on some nice bread, you can't beat it. I get the 250g pots now as the others just don't last long enough
I'm glad your mindee's parents were understanding about your pg - I finally told my main client the other week that I'd be stopping work mid-October and they were really sweet about it fortunately. It's extremely nerve-wracking when you're self-employed. Fingers crossed the other parents are just as understanding, and you don't care about what the horrible ones think anyway do you

cricri · 06/09/2008 17:52

Sorry Teehee X-posted. Sorry to hear you're feeling down Post-holiday blues are horrible aren't they? Plust all the extra pg hormones rushing through your system don't help. Even though it is something you've wanted for a long time, when you're feeling sick and tired it is difficult to look on the bright side. But it does get better and you'll feel better in a few weeks' time. I know it feels like ages away but take it one day at a time. If you have to spend the whole day on the sofa then do it. Might as well make the most of it now!
(((hugs))) to you anyway.

FruitynNutty · 07/09/2008 11:16

Morning just wanted to share this website with you.

www.ehd.org/prenatal-images-index.php Someone else on MN found it and it's truly amazing!
It shows in great detail every single stage of the development of a baby. Right from when the egg meets the sperm. I think a lot of the pics are 3d animated but most of them look as though they are real pictures inside the womb

OP posts:
Yarnie · 08/09/2008 11:21

TeeHee Hope you're feeling a little brighter today.

Thanks for the link, Fruity. What amazing images!

FruitynNutty · 08/09/2008 18:08

Another parent told about the pregnancy Went very well Only two more to go! I can't wait to tell my Thursday mindee's mum, she's so lovely.
I'm starting to get very nervous now about telling the mean ones.
I have this mindee tomorrow and Weds. Then I won't see him again until next Tues again - hang on..... I think he's on holiday next week Anyway, do you think I should tell them about my notice and baby tomorrow? or wait until Weds when I drop him off (so I don't have to deal with them till I next see them).
If I tell them Weds then I have to act all normal tomorrow, a little misleading do you think? But then I've got the confrontation the next day. I don't know what to do!
Also I haven't really got my story straight yet. If you were the parents (bare in mind you have to be extremely precious and selfish and unappreciative) how would you like me to tell you? Basically I have a full-timer starting at the end of October which means I wont have space for current mindee. Also as pregnant, need the income from a full timer (current mindee only 2 days per week - used to be 5 days, then 3 days)
I will be telling them verbally as well as by email. Obviously verbally first. I hate confrontations

teeheelaydee · 08/09/2008 18:33

Thanks Yarnie I am feeling much better - well still knackered but I hardly moved from my sofa yesterday so am a bit brighter.

Fruity Don't be scared - you'll be fine - remember- you have the power. I think I would tell them sooner rather than later and then just act dead normal, there is no need for them to be off with you and if you tell them early then you don't have to feel guilty about anything (IMO you don't have to feel guilty anyway but it sounds like you might). I think your reasons sound good - don't get drawn into any further explanation if you can help it - I always say too much in these worky situations and am not very good at keeping my cards close to me chest - always wish I'd said less. Good Luck - make sure you let us know how it goes

Yarnie · 09/09/2008 14:44

Out of interest, how long did you all have (or will you have) between your booking in appointment and your second ante natal appointment (not including your scan)?

I will have an 11 week gap. Maybe that's normal, but nearly 3 months seems ages .

I thought I was meant to be seen every 4 weeks until 20 weeks?

I've posted about my scan on the other thread in case anyone missed it.

Yarnie · 09/09/2008 14:53

I hasten to add, I'm not actually bothered about seeing midwife/GP (unless I start feeling unwell or something), but I'd quite like the results of my booking in bloods, etc. I think my combined test results come to me in the post, so I don't need to worry about those.

Maybe I could ring up for my blood results?

cricri · 09/09/2008 17:20

Yarnie My midwife wrote the intervals between appointments in the front of my notes at my booking in appointment and after my twelve week scan they were/are as follows: 16, 20, 25, 28, 31, 34, 36, 38 and 40 weeks. 11 weeks sounds like a long time to me. Perhaps ring up your midwife and check? You can certainly ring up for your blood results but I'm surprised they don't want to see you until 23 weeks.
Congratulations again on the scan

Yarnie · 09/09/2008 17:48

Thanks for that, Cricri. I'll actually be 21 weeks at the next appointment, rather than 23 (i.e. 11 weeks from my booking in, rather than from today). I guess today might count as an appointment, but I only saw the sonographer and the phlebotomist (for my combined blood test). I didn't see a midwife or have my BP taken, etc.

I think part of the problem is there is no scan clinic during my 20th week, so that has pushed me forward a week.

teeheelaydee · 10/09/2008 19:30

Yarnie I've left you a message on the 'chat' thread. I don't know if you've found it but it is in chat and has Mollie/Cricri/Fruity etc in the title.
I wanted to pick your brains about something and thought that was the most appropriate place. xx

Yarnie · 11/09/2008 17:02

I have replied TeeHee!

Ignore my Cricri - I think I probably will be 23 weeks at the next appointment. Anyway, I called today and they don't see anyone around the 16 week mark, so at least they haven't messed up. She said to go and see my GP if I have any concerns (I'm under shared care, anyway), which I'm sure I won't.

There seems to be so much variation in ante-natal care from trust to trust.

cricri · 11/09/2008 17:24

You're right Yarnie, it does vary immensely. I guess because you've had the NT scan then you won't be having the triple test with bloods so that may be why you don't have the appt at 16 weeks to discuss results. However, they should be monitoring BP and urine regularly so I'm surprised that you have to wait until 23 weeks for your next appt. I assume you'll be having the 20 week anomaly scan? It's very strange isn't it how AN care isn't the same across the country.

Yarnie · 11/09/2008 18:17

I had the triple test when I went for my scan. I'll get my results in the post and I guess if there's anything untoward then they'll ask me to go in.

The BP and urine was the thing I was vaguely concerned about, because it's difficult to know (especially for a first timer) what is normal pregnancy malaise and what might be something else.

Anyway, I'm in good shape and low risk and the unit is a good one, so I'm sure it won't be a problem.

Emmsy1 · 13/09/2008 07:09

hello lovely ladies, sorry not been around very often, am always thinking of you, and although I don't have much time to post, I often 'pop in' to read your 'updates'. My next MW appt is on Monday at 2.00pm (34 wks +4) expecting/hoping all is well, still getting alot of pains in my side when I over do it, but apart from that, all very quite with baby. (still feeling plenty of movements though!)Need to ask MW about prev protien in urine, and ask her is I can have a swab taken re:Strep B, would love it to be negative so I can stay at home for as long as possible when I go into labour, don't want to get to the hospital too early, as now have the added problem of not having my mum or sister to help with 'my' children when I go into labour as they are now (quite unexpectedly) fostering 3 children between them and they are finding it quite hard.(I am having the 2 & 3 year old's from Mon-Wed as my sister is in work until 1.00pm and I have promised to help her out. My DH is pretty useless when it comes to looking after the children, have to tell him to remember to 'feed' and 'water' them! anyway take care all, will try to keep you updated! Lots of love to you all xxxx

teeheelaydee · 13/09/2008 08:17

emmsy I really don't know how you do it, your energy is never ending. I am truly in awe, however, please take it easy, you're going to need that energy in a few weeks! The countdown is definately on now.

FruitynNutty · 16/09/2008 14:41

Hiya, just checking everyone is ok? Yarnie are you coming to the meet up on Sat? Be lovely if you could!

OP posts:
teeheelaydee · 16/09/2008 16:54

Yarnie Yes I was wondering if you can make it on Saturday as well. I almost feel we should set places for those who aren't there as it will be a little strange without everyone I think. I'm sure we will make up in chat what we lack in numbers.

FruitynNutty · 18/09/2008 16:55

Its so quiet, where is everyone?

OP posts:
teeheelaydee · 18/09/2008 17:09

I know Fruity, I think Emmsy, Mibbes and Cricri are busy nesting and don't know where Yarnie is so that just leaves us. I miss Sparkly and Mollie. This room is not full enough -we need some more graduates
