mibbes · 20/08/2008 21:19

cricri amby nest looks cool !

Emmsy what pram did you order ? Yes was just being lazy not posting photos !

Sparkly hope MS is not too bad.

sambrads 5 weeks OMG ! good luck

Emmsy1 · 20/08/2008 21:53

cricri don't trust your cat, when my cat was alive it would sneak into cot/pram/baby chair at every 'unwatched' opportunity, it could easily unintentionally suffocate baby, as baby will be too small to move cat off.
mibbes have ordered a Strawberry Quinny Buzz, probably a bit flash for a Les Dawson look-a-likebut couldn't resist it!
sambrads wow, only 5 weeks! It really will fly by,try not to worry about the birth, yeah it can be painful, but if it was really 'that' bad we would all stop after having 1 child. Try and stay focused on the beautiful reward at the end of labour that you will get. A tiny newborn that will melt your heartstrings as soon as you see her

mibbes · 20/08/2008 22:22

OOh Emmsy loving the encouragement for getting through labour - am pooping my pants but have ordered a hypnotherapy CD that is supposed to help you relax in prep for birth

We have ordered the iCandy Apple - love it ! The Quinny is lovely too - how exciting ! The iCandy only comes in black but have ordered the red fleecey insert

Oh and ladies - is anyone interested in exercise DVDs for PG ? I have tried the Davina one (very tame indeed but good if you are not a regular exerciser), I much prefer Erin O'Brien (proper squats, lunges etc.... makes me break sweat and feel like I've I've had a 'proper' workout). Have also been doing Tara Lee's yoga DVD for PG - am not really a big yoga fan but it is helping me relax and sleep better so am perservering with it

cricri · 21/08/2008 07:08

Emmsy I don't think we'll have a problem with the cat - he'll be too scared of the baby, but we will keep a close eye on him. There's an interesting thread on cat nets for cots etc in the pg section and the consensus seems to be don't bother with them as cats are more likely to run a mile from a newborn
Thanks for the encouragement re labour too - another one of my friends said to just trust your body as it knows what to do, which I guess is true.
Mibbes I've got some hypnotherapy MP3 files for labour which I really must listen to!
As far as exercise in pregnancy is concerned, I'm still going to the gym so no DVDs for me. One of the instructors who specialises in ante- and post-natal exercise put together a programme for me last week which should take me right up to the birth I've got the Shiva Rea Yoga DVD though, which is good because there are three women doing the exercises and you follow the one for your stage of pregnancy. The exercises are varied and some quite tough.

FruitynNutty · 21/08/2008 08:31

This thread keeps disappearing off my list
How's everyone today?
I had a pilates DVD while preg with DS but I only looked at it twice

Morning all,
Didn't want to get out of bed this morning but it looks like it's going to be a gorgeous day!
Emmsy Doc said I won't have a scan until 12 weeks so I have another 5 weeks left of waiting . The weeks seem to be passing quickly at the moment.
Sambrads [waves] Only 5 weeks left? It doesn't seem like you've been pregnant for long. Lots of luck to you.
Cricri I felt slightly sick this morning but ate 2 ginger biscuits and feel fine now. Could do with a nap though...
Mibbes Let me know how you get on with your CD. I think I'll be needing to relax closer to delivery. I don't think I've got the energy to exercise....
Fruity Hope your head isn't too sore.

Hi to everyone else.

Emmsy1 · 21/08/2008 19:27

sparkly thats what they told me but when hospital appt letter came it was 2 weeks earlier, so fingers crossed! I too was still not dressed when I read your post this morning really didn't feel like getting dressed at all today, was so tired, had to make the effort as had promised the children that I would go to water world with them to buy an aquarium, have been putting it off for ages, glad its done now, just need to get some fish in about 7 days!xx
mibbes will have a good look at the icandy apple later, that also sounds scrummy, I didn't want another black or charcoal pram as my previous phil & teds was dark! Fancied a change, a very bright change, hope I haven't made the wrong choice did get the delivery date wrong, its the 19th Sep x

FruitynNutty · 22/08/2008 14:23

Afternoon ladies

Had my midwife booking in this morning. I'm so disappointed because I'm with Ivory team at St.George's which, not only means they don't do home visits, they don't do home births!!!! [shock So the choice is just snatched away from me just because I'm with Ivory team. It's been my dream since having such an awful time with DS's birth. I said I didn't want to be with Ivory team then. She said you are placed with a team depending on where you live/postcode. very strange when 3 of my friends who live literally a 5 minute walk from me all had homebirths with St.George's.
I'm really pissed off She said I can change to a different hospital but why should I if St.G's is my nearest hospital? I drove there in 5 mins this morning. Kingston would be my next nearest but that's miles away

Emmsy I'm getting a 2nd hand Phil and Teds off Ebay when the time comes. I'll need to sleep 2 babies in there when I'm working and it looks comfy enough. Hoping to get the Sport. They still sell for quite a lot so I'm waiting until nearer the time in the hope they come down in price.

Mibbes Love the icandy I don't need to get a single buggy. I've still got DS's Frog in the loft, just needs a spring clean as it's still covered in mud from about 2 years ago! I can't wait to use it again!

Sparkly how are you?

OP posts:
cricri · 22/08/2008 18:21

Fruity Sorry to hear about your unsatisfactory midwife appointment I was under the impression that if you wanted a hb then you're entitled to it. I thought the government was trying to encourage them Anyway this site will tell you more. Also, there's a good thread here where several ladies have posted templates of letters to PCTs stating their rights to a hb. I would have thought you should be entitled to transfer to a different team especially given your previous experiences of a hospital birth. That would be a good line of argument to adopt with them. After all tt's not up to you to make the hospital's life easier for them. Fortunately there is plenty of time and I really hope you get the birth you want.
On a more positive note, I got my M&P pram from my friend today It's 6 years old but will do the job I think. DH is panicking about how it's going to get into the car though!
Still no news from Yarnie Hope she's OK.
Hi to everyone else

FruitynNutty · 22/08/2008 19:06

Thanks for that info Cricri I'll look through and use it to right my letter of complaint.
As my last birth was an emergency c-section I thought that would be the reason to refuse me. Never expected it to be a postcode lottery.
Yay for your pram I bet you can't wait to fill it

I wonder where Yarnie is Did she go on holiday?

OP posts:
Sparkly08 · 23/08/2008 11:54

Emmsy Did you get a salt water fish tank or a regular one? Hope you're feeling less tired today.
Fruity at your MW appointment. You should be allowed the birth you want after your last one. I can't believe that only certain teams allow homebirths...can you change teams? I'l keep my fingers crossed for you.
Cricri I bet having a pram in the house makes everything feel real...how exciting .

I really hope Yarnie is ok!!

Slept for 10 hours last night and still want more sleep!! yawn

FruitynNutty · 24/08/2008 11:58

I've just been to Boots. On my way, I slipped over crossing the road but I really grazed my knee and took a chunk of skin off my big toe My own damned fault for wearing flip flops in the rain, I just skid and couldn't stop!
So, after I bought some plasters for my bleeding toe and knee (it was pouring!) I treated myself to a new change bag and a Lamaze Play Mat. They've got a fab clearance sale on . The bag was reduced from £25 to £10 I'll see if I can find a picture...

A bit like this one but pink inside

OP posts:
Sparkly08 · 24/08/2008 12:19

AWW Fruity . Are you ok?
That bag is lovely!! It's still £20 in the sale on the website!!

I felt really sick on Friday and slightly sick yday but not at all sick today and I've been getting some really funny sensations in my tummy...not painful but sometimes uncomfortable. I hope everything is ok. My (.)(.)s are still sore.
Did anyone else have symptoms that came and went?

FruitynNutty · 24/08/2008 16:42

oowwwwwwwww!!! My knee is so sore I think I came down really heavily on it and I might have bruised my knee cap, I can't bend it very much. I hobbled over to Abbey Mills with DP and DS for a pancake and it took me ages. Thank god it's a bank hol tomorrow. Not sure I could cope with all those children. Hopefully will be better by Tuesday.
I wonder why the bag is still £20 online very odd. It's ever so slightly different though.

My symptoms came and went, dont worry Sparkly My sickness seems to be going now too which is nice. Really tired still though. Just had a nap and could probably sleep for the rest of the evening!

DP just gone out so I thought I'd better pay some attention to my son.

very quiet in here of late.

How is everyone feeling today? Did you all have a good bank holiday weekend?
I think my MS seems to be finally lifting although I did feel a bit rotten last night. My tiredness seems to be getting worse again. I was asleep on the sofa by 8 last night and in bed by 9. I'm so tired all the time.

OP posts:
Sparkly08 · 27/08/2008 17:37

Hey Fruits!!
This thread slipped off my 'threads i'm on'. You alright? When is your scan?

Emmsy1 · 28/08/2008 09:26

Hello girls, I have managed to pay off my pram and decided to ring mothercare to ask if I can have it delivered earlier than the 19th Sep, it's going to be delivered on Tuesday, next week! I am so excited, like a kid with a new toy,I was a little dissapointed about my new car seat though, as baby bussiness in Heswall still haven't had it in from maxi-cosiI ordered it nearly 2 months ago! man said that maxi-cosi have had too many orders for(deep red)car seats, as theirs fits on the chassis of most prams, and they are having a little trouble getting hold of them at the moment, he said he will ring me as soon as he gets it in.
mibbes I do like the icandi apple, seen it in a preg mag the other day, when you see what other people have chosen, you always think you have made the wrong choice, still must except quinny buzz now!
I went to my first parent craft session yesterday, haven't been to one for approx 7 ish years, the MW was the only real young person there, I was amazed at this, as it didn't make me feel out of place. MW hasn't had any children herself yet, and she made a remark to one of the 2nd time mums that any child after your first was like 'shelling peas' I was annoyed at this remark as my last 2 births were by far the most painful, and my last was the worst. I was 8cm dilated when I got to the hospital with my first baby, I wouldn't have gone in then if I hadn't of started bleeding, with my last 2 I was only 3-4 cm dilated and begged for an epidural, I still didn't get one though, as they always make excuses that the aneithetist is in theatre. Just not keen on this MW now, hope she is not there when into labour. Going to stop moaning now, but will pipe up in next weeks session when they talk about pain relief, as I want to try and have an epidural this time, and with that MW attitude I will not get one if she's on duty!x

FruitynNutty · 28/08/2008 14:21

Emmsy If you want an epidural you should damn well get one! As long as they have enough notice you shouldn't have a problem.
St.George's don't offer classes to 2nd time parents. I won't get the chance to go anyway but that's not the point They used to offer refresher classes but they only do classes for 1st time mums now. Stupid bloody hospital.
I'm hoping I won't need an epidural this time round as I'm sure it didn't help with ending up having a c-section. When the y told me to push I had no idea what they were talking about "Push what!!!??? I can't feel a damn thing!" Just ake sure they let it wear off a bit so you know what your doing. Well worth not having the awful pain of contractions, especially if they're in your back!

Morning girls,

Anyone in today?

OP posts:
cricri · 30/08/2008 11:24

Morning
I'm around. About to go and enjoy the sunshine though - it's meant to rain again tomorrow so got to make the most of it!
NCT classes start tomorrow so I'm excited about that too
Hope everybody is OK.

Sparkly08 · 30/08/2008 22:19

This thread keeps falling off my list.
I've found you now though so I'll have a catch up tomorrow.
Lots of luck cricri.

teeheelaydee · 31/08/2008 08:02

Gosh quiet in here. Took me ages to catch up on conception thread, this one has taken two minutes.

If there is one thing that get me excited about this baby it is the talk of prams - why? Anyway bit early for me and really have no clue so will be looking to you ladies for help and guidance when the time comes.

Ohh I must eat something as I feel sooo sick!

Sparkly08 · 01/09/2008 09:41

It is very quiet in here!
I still have no symptoms despite being over 8 weeks which is still worrying but I haven't had any bleeding or pain so I'm trying to be positive.
We are getting a new pushchair. Can't decide between a Bugaboo and a Quinny Buzz...am going to have to test drive them.
How is everyone else feeling?

Yarnie · 01/09/2008 10:07

Hola!

Sorry for not doing my bit to keep this thread moving. DF was still on holiday until today, so we were making the most of some quality time together.

Unfortunately the holiday has come to a bit of a sour end, as he learned yesterday that his investment bank has been bought by another and he will almost certainly lose his job. It's a bit of a worry, to say the least, as we have three mortgages to pay. It's going to be difficult for him to find another job in this current climate, but he is very employable so we'll just have to hope for the best.

Sparkly I share your concerns about a lack of symptoms. Here I am at nearly 11 weeks and all I have to show for my pg is a bit of constipation(!) I'm very worried about my scan. It's just so difficult to believe there's very much going on. I'm trying not to get stressed as it won't help, either way.

I can't really think about prams or anything baby related until we have the scan (a week tomorrow).

Sorry to be "me me me". So much to worry about, so little time(!)
