Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MollieMooma · 16/08/2008 13:32

Fruity Oh my goodness, see you worry all through the pregnancy then worry about the birth and then these things happen! My goodness it must be so scary for them. When you see them, hug them a little tighter from all of us too
Sparkly I have boxed up my MS and sent it to you with a little love You will so regret it! Well last night I had another vomit free night!!!!! Not feeling too bad this morning, even had a bit of nookie so things must be looking up

cricri · 16/08/2008 16:16

Fruity Your poor friend, what a worrying time for her Hope things get better soon.
Mollie Let's hope yesterday was just a one-off with the ms and it's now gone for good
Sparkly Has the spotting stopped? Hope you manage to get an early scan. As Fruity says, it really is great to see beanie at that stage. We've got pictures from scans at 7, 12, 20 and 27 weeks now - I need to put them in an album! One more scan to go at 34 weeks
DH and I went shopping for baby items this afternoon and we've ordered our car seat and I've also bought an Amby nature's nest online Just need to sort out the room which is to be the nursery now...

FruitynNutty · 16/08/2008 17:10

Yes it is very worrying. Just found out today that the baby is now getting better. Had a good night last night but my friend is poorly again from this epidural reaction. They've had to take some of her blood and inject it into her spine or something I feel so bad for her. All she wants is to be back at home with her new baby and partner. He goes back to work on Tuesday too You really don't expect to be in hospital for more than a couple of days do you

OP posts:
FruitynNutty · 16/08/2008 17:16

Oh cricri how exciting shopping for the baby
I've always had some lovely ideas for a nursery but we've never had one When DS was born we were at my mums so he was in with us then went into the spare room. This time round baby will be in with us then sharing with DS. I can dream though. Or maybe nearly 4 year old DS won't mind his big boy room being transformed into a nursery

I'm looking forward to buying my Phil and Teds pram it's the only thing we'll need really. Got loads of stuff leftover from DS and we'll be lent everything else by friends
I'm now wondering if we should find out the sex. Who else is going to find out? I wondered if DS would be able to bond more if he knows it's his little bro or sis in there rather than "The baby" I'd quite like a surprise but not really too fussed.

FruitynNutty · 16/08/2008 17:21

ooh, sorry, me again. Just had a look at that Amby nest. What are the benefits? Is it any good for a humungous baby (I'm sure I'll have another giant). I only ask because DS grew out of his moses basket within about 2 weeks

OP posts:
cricri · 16/08/2008 18:12

Fruity Sorry your friend is still in hospital and unwell. Makes me even less inclined to have an epidural if I can at all avoid it when I hear about this sort of thing! Can't even bear to think about somebody injecting stuff into my spine...
The Amby nest is supposed to be OK for babies up to 1 year depending on the weight so much better than a Moses basket. There are other benefits too apparently. The Amby website has lots of info as does the Kiddicare website.
BTW when I say "nursery" this is a rather posh word for a box room! One of the girls on my AN thread has a proper nursery - she posted some photos of it on her profile and it looks like something out of a magazine Absolutely gorgeous.
I'm not buying that much honestly because we've been given so much already - that's the advantage of being among the last of your friends to have a baby The car seat, cotbed and Amby nest will be our only major purchases for the birth. A friend has given us a M&P pram/buggy, we've got several rockers, a number of sleeping bags, tons of clothes from newborn to over 1 yr... It will just be a question of buying all the small items such as a changing mat, muslin squares etc. We've had several lists of "essentials" posted on our AN thread by experienced mums so that's been very useful.

FruitynNutty · 16/08/2008 18:22

Oh but Cricri you must buy as much as you can for your first born, tis the law you know I LOVED buying stuff for DS, I'm really looking forward to digging it all out again. Although, if it's a girl, I'll have a really good excuse to go shopping
Amby nest looks lovely a comfortable. I wonder how easy it is to transfer to a regular cot though?
I love M&P buggies. Which one will you be getting? Prams are my fave subject if you didn't know already
Also, it's great you've got some sleeping bags coming your way as they are godsend Especially the Grobags (which BTW you can get cheap in TK Maxx)

FruitynNutty · 16/08/2008 19:10

is 4 large bowl of Coco Pops extravagant? I can't stop. Shall I just throw the box in the bin? I'm having skimmed milk if that's any consolation! I just can't get enough of refined sugary carbs at the moment. Anything remotely healthy just makes me feel sick.
I hope this is just a passing phase because I really will be mahoosive within a week at this rate It's the only way to get rid of the constant nausea though!

OP posts:
cricri · 16/08/2008 22:19

Fruity Don't worry about overloading on carbs - I ate only carbs for nearly a month because like you they were the only thing that kept the nausea at bay (and the only thing I fancied). I could just about manage apples and bananas but vegetables went out of the window completely. Once the nausea had passed I went back to eating normally and everything was fine. It's a good excuse to eat what you like for a while I've put on 6kg so far so my weird diet in the first few weeks doesn't seem to have done too much damage...
My friend hasn't given me the pram yet but I'll let you know which one it is when I get it. It's 4 years old but looks as good as new from what I've seen.
Thanks for the tip about getting grobags from TKMaxx. I must admit I rarely go in there because I haven't got the patience to trawl through the rails for clothes for myself but I guess it's not as bad if you're looking for something specific. DH loves that shop so I'll send him instead
I don't know the answer to the Amby nest question... I was thinking of putting baby to sleep in the cot during the day and using the nest at night so that she gets used to both but not sure how realistic that is I can also let you know how I get on with it before you go ahead and buy one in any case.

Sparkly08 · 17/08/2008 09:19

Mollie You managed nookie ...LOL!! I haven't even thought about it. Thanks for the MS gift but it still hasn't arrived .
Cricri Yes the spotting has stopped...thanks for asking. It was a really small amount so I'm trying not to worry. I'll try my best to get an early scan when I see the GP on Wednesday.
Fruity Eat whatever makes you feel better...that's the only way to deal with MS.

I'm still not feeling pregnant at all.

MollieMooma · 17/08/2008 13:24

Fruity Coco Pops What are you like? I must admit although MS is subsiding (just every oher night now) I still can't eat lots, just little and often, although I think I'm starting to like chocolate again, which will probably be a bad thing
Sparkly Well I had to give in on the nookie front, poor DH has been cut off since my BFP, only been twice in 6 weeks, and as he has looked after me so well thought I'd reward him But he doesn't know that's it for another 6 weeks
CriCri You sound very organised! I had a look at those amby nests too, they look really comfy, could do with one in adult size

Mollie wanders off for a nap zz

cricri · 18/08/2008 10:11

Good luck for your scan today Mollie You've probably had it by now so hope everything went OK.

Sparkly08 · 18/08/2008 10:50

Mollie Any news yet?

I think I might be starting to feel a bit sick today....I did have a tiny bit more brown spotting last night though.

cricri · 18/08/2008 13:07

Sparkly I wouldn't wish ms on anybody, but I know you find it reassuring so I hope it is ms starting to kick in (but hope it's only mild IYSWIM!)When are you seeing your doctor? Hope you get referred for an early scan. The spotting doesn't sound like anything to worry about but must be disconcerting. Hope it stops soon!

MollieMooma · 18/08/2008 13:15

Sparkly I really hope the spotting has stopped, is it Weds your appt with GP?

mibbes · 19/08/2008 19:49

I have finally posted 20 week scan pics - more than a month later

cricri · 19/08/2008 20:24

Lovely photos Mibbes
My Amby nest arrived today Just need to get it out of its box and see how it all fits together now... Might have to take it down again though in case the cat decides it's a new sleeping place

MollieMooma · 19/08/2008 20:45

Mibbes What gorgeous pictures Especially love the one of his/her feet, so cute x

Sparkly08 · 20/08/2008 09:31

Mibbes What cute photos .
Cri Good luck with the nest...they looks so cute.

Just got back from GP. She has given me my notes but isn't sending me for an early scan because she thinks the brown spotting is nothing to worry about.

cricri · 20/08/2008 13:08

Sparkly That's a shame that you didn't get referred for an early scan Even your uncertainty over dates wasn't enough to sway your GP? What are you going to do, wait for your 12-week scan or have a private one? On the plus side at least the GP seems to think the spotting is nothing to worry about which is reassuring. Has it stopped now?

mibbes · 20/08/2008 13:16

Sparkly bummer about no early scan, GP is right though, nothing to be worried about little Sparkle-bean will be just fine . I looked into early scan after my bleed and they are about £80 - ended up cancelling it and waited for 12 week scan but maybe worth thinking about if it'd put your mind at rest

Sparkly08 · 20/08/2008 13:35

I tried the 'I'm not sure of dates' too but it didn't seem to work.
We looked into a private scan but they are £95 here so I think I'll just wait for the 12 week and keep my fingers crossed.
I think my symptoms are starting . I'm feeling sick and tired today. Should feel reassured now but will prob be moaning in a few days .

Emmsy1 · 20/08/2008 20:09

mibbes they really are lovely pictures, why were you so late showing them off, lazy mare!
sparkly you may get a scan at approx 10 weeks, I know thats still seems like a long wait, but it really does fly by hope you don't get sickness too much as it really can get you down xx
cricri its so exciting when all the baby gear starts arriving, my pram is being delivered on 16th Sep (well, I think thats the date, will double check when children back at school)Can't wait for it to come, my little girl can't wait either!x

P.S my next MW appt is on the 8th of Sep, not the 9th

sambrads · 20/08/2008 20:30

just thought i would pop in to see how you all are

i have 5 full weeks left cant believe how quick ime is going its scary !!

i am starting to get nervous but i have a feeling she will come either really early or i will be induced!! i to done everything i could to get d out but as mw says they will come when they are ready

cricri · 20/08/2008 21:00

Sparkly Hope you're not feeling too rough...
Sambrads 5 weeks to go Mind you, I keep having to remind myself that I've only got 10 weeks to go Fingers crossed your LO comes bang on time Hope everything is OK with you otherwise.
Well, DH and I put the Amby nest together tonight and it does look very nice Now we just need to make space for it in our bedroom - I thought it was going to be much smaller than a cot but with the frame etc it's not that much smaller so could be interesting. Oh and the cat completely ignored it!
