Expectant Cinema treat sound lovely!

Good luck Sazzles!

MrsMagooo · 22/07/2008 13:38

Expectant Your cinema sounds lush!!

The most I get from mine is chewing gum stuck to my bum!

Buckets · 22/07/2008 14:08

Cyteen, painful sex could also be thrush (even without other symptoms) - if you're getting a swab done might as well get tested for that at the same time. Worth washing in not-too-hot baths with lots of salt and teatree oil in the meantime, same for DP too in case it is thrush and you're passing it back and forth.
Friend of mine was sticking garlic cloves on a thread up her fanny from due date onwards to try and prevent GBS! And she is a real life doctor too LOL
PS Have you seen Tarantino's Deathproof? Might put you off Kurt Russell, (although he is a great actor actually.)

IlanaK · 22/07/2008 14:13

Hi all, just popping in to update you.

Things did not go exactly to plan. Saul was born yesterday by csection at 2:10pm. He was breach and they had some difficulty getting him out (actually pushed him back in at one point to turn him). He was checked by a pediatrician right away as his breathing was very fast. Then all seemed well and he went to recovery with me and then to postnatal ward. There was just enough time for my other sons to visit with my mother while all seemed ok. He was checked again by another pediatrician as the midwife also was not happy with his breathing.

They all left and my dad turned up to visit. Cue another pediatrician. While my dad was holding Saul, he went grey and was whisked away. From that moment on, I did not get him back. He was on the resus table in the ward with multiple people over him for a while and then transfered down to SCBU. Cue loads of tears from me as I really did not want him in SCBU.

He has been there ever since. He is on a drip to feed him, oxygen, antiobiotics in case of infection. He is likely to be there at least another week.

I got myself discharged at lunch time today as I had no sleep at all in the postnatal ward last night and could not face being there again tonight. I managed to get out of bed within 4 hours of the operation being over as I wanted to get to scbu to see Saul. This definately speeded up my recovery. I am home now but will obviously be going back tomorow to see him.

There is the possibility of being readmitted to "transitional care" in a few days if Saul progresses well enough to leave scbu. Then I can be with him while they continue to monitor him. This is what I am hoping for.

The hardest part is my 4 year old asking me why Saul isn't at home and getting upset as he wants him here.

AnnVan · 22/07/2008 14:24

Expectant - cinema sounds great as well. The best cinema tickets I know of is at the Greenwich Odeon which has gallery seats - the height of luxury, bar, free popcorn, nachos, soft drinks and hot drinks, fast access, super comfy leather armchairs. Costs £35 though (it's worth it)

AnnVan · 22/07/2008 14:26

Ilana - for little Saul in special care. thinking of you, and hope you and LO are reunited and healthy soon!

longwayfromhome · 22/07/2008 14:41

IlanaK sending thoughts and prayers to you and your family.

Buckets · 22/07/2008 14:42

Oh poor Ilana, sending positive vibes to you and little Saul. Congrats anyway and hope you're body is behaving itself in the meantime. Now shovel in some painkillers and off to bed with you.

cyteen · 22/07/2008 14:51

Ilana I've got everything crossed that you'll soon be at home with Saul and all your family around you, enjoying being together Sending strong positive vibes your way lovey - keep your chin up x

ataraxis · 22/07/2008 14:53

oh Ilana - hope things are ok and Saul gets to come home soon. Sending you lots of hugs and thoughts.

pertelote · 22/07/2008 14:57

Oh Ilana how scary! Sending you hugs and positive thoughts, hope you are all home together very soon.

ChaCha · 22/07/2008 14:58

Ilana - Congratulations on the birth of Saul I am wishing you a quick recovery though can't believe you're already up and about at home but can understand why and my family and I are praying for Saul's quick recovery and that he will be home with you and the boys asap. It can't be easy trying to rest knowing that LO is where he is but please try - you've only just had a section not 24 hours ago. Please keep us posted when you can. Thinking of you and your family x

Happy Birthday Buckets - only just logged on. Hoping you're having a lovely day.

Sazzles - Good luck with scan. Will check on your news later.

Sorry for all missed but hope you're all okay. Not doing too well today, having escaped swollen ankles in other pregnancies am horrified at the state of my legs - it's just happened all of a sudden and is grossing me out. Resting and eating and drinking and resting for me today...love to all x

Whoooooops...Bealcain - so glad you're alright and hopefully good news over the weekend.

Really feeling for Ilana xxx

ChaCha · 22/07/2008 15:02

My swollen ankles and legs aren't really anything to complain about when you think of little newborns in SCBU....
Ilana's news is making me reflect somewhat now on being more grateful for having gotten this far in PG and less moany about the ailments. Praying we all have safe births and healthy children.

ataraxis · 22/07/2008 15:10

sazzles, hoping everything is ok.

Sausageandmash · 22/07/2008 15:15

Ilana - congratulations on Saul's birth and I'm just sorry it's not been the plain sailing we'd all wished for you. Keeping my fingers tight crossed that he improves quickly and that he's home to you very soon.

And a note to you, as Chacha said, take it as easy as you can - had C-sec 3.5 years ago (for breech babe) and it does take time to recover - apologies if you know this already.

PetitFilou1 · 22/07/2008 15:18

Ilana Congratulations on the birth of Saul. I'm so sorry things turned out the way they did, it must have been very distressing for you and I hope both that he recovers quickly and that you get the chance to talk through what went wrong with someone. Hopefully you will be together as a family soon.

PetitFilou1 · 22/07/2008 15:19

Ps If TS does not remerge soon, I will start a new thread (hope you are ok TS)

CaptainCaveman · 22/07/2008 15:20

Well good afternoon gals. Had a sleep-in until 11am today!!! . Blimey I needed that.

Congratulations Ilana on the birth of Saul. I have also posted on our prayer thread for you and Saul, praying that Saul recovers very quickly and you can be together as a family. I am sorry things didn't go quite to plan, hoping you manage to spend as much time with him as you want/need to ((((((ilana)))))

No ts today? What you up to lassie? Having a baby or something??

bealcain it is good to hear from you too - I am astounded that baby bealcain is still in there!! All the best for your induction this weekend. How was hospital?

Happy Birthday buckets - can I save my slice of cake until later? Got wicked heartburn, seems to be brought on by merely looking at food

sazzles how did it go today? Looking forwards to hearing from you later!

Been very lazy today, a little bit of housework but only of the superficial nature. Am meant to be going to watch Mamma Mia this evening with some of the ladies from church but dh may be home too late for me to go.

Also, got woken up again last night by SPLITTING headache which went off after about half an hour. Not sure what to do - this is the second time in a few days this has happened? Any clues??

bealcain · 22/07/2008 15:27

CC you really need to ask. this is england and it was the NHS, what more can i say?

11am CC you lucky c*w. My ds2 now has chicken pox and what looks like a fungal infection around his groin....he's not coping very well with it

so where is TS?

PetitFilou1 · 22/07/2008 15:31

Bealcain
Your poor ds - thrush do you think? No wonder he is miserable.

PetitFilou1 · 22/07/2008 15:39
