I had three glasses of wine on Sat night it was either that or taking up smoking again which I haven't done in over 6yrs!!

does rose really count as a wine though?!? is it not just conveniently squished strawberries in a bottle

you've all inspired me to try to get a wax/hair do sometime soon too

ataraxis · 21/07/2008 12:35

Exactly to all of the above! S&M, I thought so too (on the early scan only thing) but apparently not - unless i just have some sadistic administrator who is up for a laugh. It's simply not possible (especially now that my bladder is the focal point on my mind).

vg - yes to waxing. Had it done just before hols so whether I get another one in is baby dependent. Beautician went - "roll on to your front then... oh, you can't can you - how do i do it then, I have never waxed a pregnant lady before"- at least she called me a lady .

Is anyone elses vom button on hyperdrive? My kids think I am insane as I am throwing up at the slightest thing. Have had to explain to them that it is just something that can happen when you have a baby and (hopefully) will go away afterwards. Otherwise nappies are going to be a real problem...

VintageGardenia · 21/07/2008 12:46

LOL not sure about vom button, because in the VG bathroom at the mo it's not vomming exactly, I just sort of overflow. Especially if I have a drink of water after eating. It must be what it's like for a baby! And it comes on me so quickly.

Intrigued by roll onto your front. No waxer has ever made such demands of me! Now if I rolled on I'd roll right off again. Then again when they say hook your ankles behind your ears... not much hope of that at the mo either!

Oh how I long to have a baby instead of a bump!

gigglegirl · 21/07/2008 13:33

why is it taht I have so much to do and so many questions in my head but I can't concentrate! I really need to get my head round the whole idea of having a section plus I have no nursing bras, no hospital bag packed, still haven't bought changing bag, need to sort out ipod but can't find wire and house looks like beirut due to building work so can't go home and look for it, haven't ordered extra bits for my reusable nappies, cradle still in the loft, sheets still lost and babies clothes stacked in a pile as baskets aren't screwed into wardrobe.

and yet I am sitting here surfing the net for mindless twaddle and thinking about watching doctors!

I haven't been brave enough to even contemplate waxing this time!

Have had a half arsed attempt at trying to trim my lady garden - I asked DH if it was ok (as I couldn't see a damn thing) & he fell about laughing

Dizzy nah - Rose can't count as wine - surely it counts as 1 of your 5 fruit/veg a day what with it having strawberries in it

Just having a look around the pit that was once the lounge & thinking how I really should tidy up.........

MrsMagooo · 21/07/2008 13:42

Dizzy - you are not a horrid mummy!!!! I would have done exactly the same thing!!

DD has a gate on her door as otherwise she legs it out all the time - once it's nap time, it's nap time!!

{{{{{{hugs}}}}}

cyteen · 21/07/2008 14:07

Hey girls, have skimmed the acres of posts from the weekend and am amazed that I've just about made it back onto the thread before our first August baby arrives (Ilana may be holding her LO right now but until she posts here, it hasn't happened ).

Extra special hugs and lots of light to dizzy...what a hard road you're having to walk right now. I really hope you're being kind to yourself and that your mum is as comfortable as can be xx

ChaCha thank you so much for thinking of me on Saturday...the charity event we'd organised went really well, the weather was beautiful, everyone had a ball and we raised just over £300 for sarcoma research, so all in all it was a very positive experience Every time there is a significant day for Simon - funeral, memorial stone laying, birthday etc. - the weather seems to turn gorgeously sunny and windy. It makes me smile thinking of him sending us fine, exciting weather for the day

Also saw an old friend on Saturday who has 3 boys and had a brilliant chat with her about different birth experiences - she's had a section, a VBAC in hospital and a homebirth, so has got the full set. Chatting to her helped make up my mind that I do want a homebirth, so when I see the mw in 2 weeks' time me and DP are going to talk through everything with her.

Must dash as am on SIL's computer and leaving soon, but continued joy and serenity to all August ladies

alittlebitshy · 21/07/2008 14:11

sazz hugs. That's not horrid mummy behaviour!! That's sensible mummy - knowing she needs sleep and that you need the break and working out how to achieve it. well done for the calmness!!!

ooooh pate. yum! Am going to hold out now til after baby - is only 3 days after all .

btw - anyone want to stroke my new hair ?? {grin]

ataraxis · 21/07/2008 14:18

gorgeous hairdo albs - looking gooood!

3 days !!! all happening now isn't it?

completely agree sazzles - not bad mummy at all. very very sensible mummy who managed to get DD to sleep and not to lose it!

right, am off for scan (keeping my bladder in check!), then will have dcs etc but will check in later and let you know how things go. Fingers crossed...

ChaCha · 21/07/2008 14:28

Hi Cyteen - Glad to hear all went well Had no idea about what had happened to your brother having missed a big chunk of the board earlier in year but how uplifting to be able to celebrate significant days of a loved one like that. All the best for your homebirth and the run up to its prep - lovely!

Sazzles - Nap time is also Nap time here, no messing around! Everyone has their own way of dealing with it and i believe there is no right or wrong - just the end result...DC snoring!
My boys go up to bottom bunk bed with drinks. I lie with them for a while, usually a sure recipe for all 3 of us sleeping but like today I am having some ME time and leaving them to it. DS1 will either talk too much or fling himself about a bit, i just ignore him and say 'sorry mummy is going to sleep now we're all tired' and he gets bored of lack of attention and falls asleep. I won't mention the little green froggy man in the wardrobe that gets very upset when little boys don't have their nap He comes out on v.bad meltdown days when DC have eyes the size of saucers, grab their blankets and squeeze their eyes closed - snoring 2 minutes later!

MrsMagoo - No point in tidying up. Feet up and relax. Am just looking through to the lounge where i let them eat lunch on their table...much waffle and scrambled egg everywhere! (Their dining room chairs have piles of sheets and towels on display waiting for kind person to take them up)

GG - You aren't in denial are you? Get your bags packed woman? When is your date? I should look at list shouldnt i.

The 20 minutes i had with DC before leaving them has left me feeling v.groggy. Can't wait to not feel ill after napping - can't wait!!!!!!!

sorry I missed your post cyteen. Glad the day went well!!

gigglegirl · 21/07/2008 15:12

chacha denial about what... i've nothing important to be thinking about have I? camping Living at parents house whilst bathroom lies in pieces at mine and bedrooms full of contents of hall and other rooms, with a million uncompleted tasks is normal 11 days before a section isn't it?

AnnVan · 21/07/2008 15:28

Hi all, had a shockingly late lie in today

Dizzy - sending good thoughts your way, you have all my sympathy. Agree with the others who said that it's not necessary to completely hide tears from DCs.

I've spent the last half hour catching up and as usual can't remember what I was going to reply to.
I managed to survive extremely full weekend, but I eel a little 'peopled out' now. Having a day entirely to myself but with LOTS of washing up to do. Would be nice if DPs family had at least offered to do some of it seeing as we spent hours cooking them a roast DP was rather annoyed as his older sister turned up completely unannounced, having never let us know whether or not she was coming and just sat down expecting to be fed! Girl has no common sense.
Oh well, sorry for massive me post.

sarahnh · 21/07/2008 15:36

big hugs sazzle for being a brave mummy.. that exactly what i had to do with my dd when she was younger.. you are a very good mummy [hugs]

PetitFilou1 · 21/07/2008 15:52

cyteen
Glad your day went well, you sound cheerier.

annvan at your outlaws not offering to do the washing up! I wouldn't even have to ask mine. Next time I'd say 'would you mind helping with the washing up?' There's no getting away from that!

PetitFilou1 · 21/07/2008 15:56

sazzles I've been there too with the enforced naps! However second time round I gave up much earlier. It is actually much easier not having to worry about them napping when you've got an older one who is up anyway....

Hope everyone is impressed with my achievements today:

got children up and taken them to nursery
three loads of washing
been to supermarket
got hair cut
ordered more shopping online
done some work
filled car up with petrol
will now make dcs beds

you can see though that I haven't got too much work to do today

AnnVan · 21/07/2008 15:57

Thanks PF - that's the thing, if it was my mum, she'd just start doing it and wouldn't let me! she would say no you've cooked the least I can do is clean! Now have veritable mountain of dirty dishesto tackle

on PG front I haven't been feeling that many bumps from my bumpy today,it didn't even go nuts at 4am like it usually does, should I call the mw??

AnnVan · 21/07/2008 15:59

PF at your productivity. at my lack of it. I have: put washing in machine, looked for phone charger Ta daaa!

alittlebitshy · 21/07/2008 16:09

annvan assuming you've felt some movemeents i wouldn;t worry. I think I've felt a bit less than normal today - but am def getting action in the bump, so am not worrying....

Productivity??? What's that?

sazzles I can't - feel too guilty! Was thinking how much blardy washing am I going to have when I have three of them - we've only been away two and a half days!

alittlebitshy · 21/07/2008 17:01

urgh - just attempted to "clean" bathroom and shower room. Not sure it's much better, but at least I feel like i've done something...... Can see dust behind the pipes but I can't get down there .

AnnVan · 21/07/2008 17:14

Oh, all this talk of actual productive work is putting me to shame. I've been multitasking (sitting doing sudoku while thinking about tackling the dirty mountain that is the kitchen)
All attempts to find my mobile charger have been fruitless. have no idea where DP has put it.
