Goodness ladies! Is EVERYONE on maternity leave now?? I've only been offline for a few hours.....

DH decided to meet me for my doc visit today...so I didn't have the doc do a cervix check (he doesn't like doing them in the room with DHs.) He did however stick me on the monitor to watch my CONTRACTIONS!! Yes they are still going strong and regular BUT they are managable. He said to walk and/or have sex to get the ball rolling if I wanted the baby out NOW! That said I went grocery shopping after the visit and have basically been on my feet for a couple of hours doing odd things around the house. The contractions are starting to feel different. Before they were full belly starting from the sides and moving inward. Now they are starting at my lady garden and moving up around and back down. ODD HUH! However they are a bit painful now...so that's good. Plus I'm getting pressure not only on my cervix but also on the base of my spine. I think the baby is still facing frontish.

{{{pregnant pause....just lost my entire train of thought}}}}

Oh well.......

Just say NO to self trimming lady garden!

Sazzles, I'd have plopped DD in a cage too. See my "last resort" mommy badge. It's well earned.

Miamla......honey you are experiencing your energy spurt. Compare your day to the rest of us. As for the lack of problems and pains, you can thank your age for that.

On that note, I mentioned to the doc that this pregnancy has be horrible on my body. And I went on to add I thought my age was to blame. He nicely responded that I was probably right BUT older women tend to have an easier time giving birth than YOUNGER ONES!!! GOOD ANSWER!!

CRAP now I'm lost my thought again......

sazzles you're right! it is just like a soap opera!

ts but most of you are looking after little ones as well and there's no way i'd be able to do that at the moment..unless they wanted to sleep all day! perhaps i should invest in ones of these cages that keep getting mentioned on here! as for the aches and pains, yup, partly to do with age but also alot to do with my being so stubborn!

TwilightSurfer · 21/07/2008 19:11

Ha ha haa ha haa ha ha ha
Sazzles...NO

OP posts:
miamla · 21/07/2008 19:12

as for chosing between food shopping or sex, it'd be a close call for me too... yeah right!

TwilightSurfer · 21/07/2008 19:14

Miamla a cage is a WISE investment!!! It keeps you from going to jail sometimes AND it allows for little ones to melt down in a SAFE PLACE not unlike the padded cells at the local sanitarium (forgive the spelling).

alittlebitshy · 21/07/2008 19:26

annvan can I have some of that lime cordial. mmmmm

Vg - as requested I Have "left the shagging pipes" lol!!!

miamla I've had a bit of a trim of the ladygarden too. I started with hair remover, then moved onto a bit of shaving (bear in mind i need to unearth my c-sec scar) and in the end dh had to come and finish the job cos I just couldn't find where I was meant to be going .

Going to see Wall-e tomorrow. Dd excited!! We're going with some friends. The little boy we're going with is almost 4 and it'll be his first cinema trip. Bless him! Mind you he's seen more films than dd cos his mum gets hold of lots of dodgy dvds .

Have just been on itunes getting a few more tooooooons for my ipod for hopsital. Dh got me a voucher for my birthday which i am still happily spending!! Simultaneously on you tube finding some songs dh needs to send to a friend of his who is cmoing to play guitar at church in a few weeks (all our musicians are off over the summer) - so keep having 2 songs blaring at once on the puter. oops.

alittlebitshy · 21/07/2008 19:30

ooh ts wasn't ignoring you - thought my post had posted but it hadn't, and when it had there was you having posted . ooh contractions. race you to the finish - I bow out on Thursday sometime, so .....?????

AnnVan · 21/07/2008 19:37

Aaaah! Have cleared most of the rubbish and general debris out of the kitchen, and washed up all the plates, side plates, bowls, mugs and glasses. Am now going to have a break. WIll wait for the clean stuf to dry and then start in on the pots pans cutlery etc.
DP should be back in next ten minutes!
Miamla - sex is even an option for you?? am very My sex drive disappeared months ago.

AnnVan · 21/07/2008 19:39

ALBS -
Enjoy!!

Buckets · 21/07/2008 19:45

Tip for shaving: use conditioner - cheap and friction-free, leaves your skin lovely, esp the Teflon type like Pantene or Tresemme.

Annvan, also quite keen on seeing Dark Knight sometime. I went to see the last one on my own, DH had given me the afternoon off one weekend. Don't forget most cinemas do a mum & baby showing each week, not kids' stuff either - can't wait! I'm farming DS to childminder specifically every Wednesday from September so me and this one can go.

Albs, you're making me feel old talking about Ipods, I still haven't got my head around MP3s and I'm only 32 tomorrow. I used to be the techno wiz in our house but DH has overtaken me, I can feel myself becoming my mum (who is scared of CDs.)

TwilightSurfer · 21/07/2008 19:53

iPods are a gift from HEAVEN!!! All pregnant ladies should sport one. Tunes out all the nonsense going on around. I LOVE MINE!!! ALBS I might just have to go out and download a few more tunes today too. However, I AM NOT RACING. I always end up falling down and skinning my knee. I will however applaud you on and keep cheering on my own contractions at the same time.

Buckets what a fab tip!! Shall try that one

TS Ooooo yay contractions - how exciting!! PMSL @ going shopping rather then sex - how you feeling at the mo??

Miamla I would have been lost without my cage it has been my saviour many a tantrum

I jumped (well less jumped more shuffled/waddled) on DH last night in a vain attempt to evict Little Man - then pottered round the house today doing hoovering etc & just dragged DH to Tesco & had a good waddle round in the hope I might get things going.......all I have succeded in doing is buying waaaaaaaaaaay to much food lol!!

pregnancy1 · 21/07/2008 19:57

Evening everyone - can't believe everyone is so far along. No TS I'm still at work . Next Monday is my last day though . I have my 36/37 week midwife appt tomorrow & trying to think of sensible Qs - I don't think I've been having BH's, but occasionally everything tenses up at the bottom of the bump only. Are they mild versions? Are the mild period pains the same? Is Bean engaged? All my trousers now feel v tight at the bottom of my bump - is that just tightening or has Bean dropped a little bit? Will my IQ continue to drop (seriously aware I'm asking some pretty stupid Qs here)?

HI All

Baby had dropped even further - if I sneeze too hard she might fall out. I have finally popped out a bump I LOOK pregnant, why has it taken 35 weeks???? Someone today said ooh i didn't know you were expecting when are you due? When I said next month she nearly had a dinosaur!

TS I'm still here still contracting but quietly for the moment - Was very quiet all weekend until someone came towards us on our side of the road and scared the living cr*p out of me. No maternity leave for me until Friday when i finish training my moron!

Miamla - Was thinking you had gone and had a baby and left us out!

VG I have a wax and haircut booked for the 9th So 3 weeks before i'm due - waxy lady wasn't going to do it because the pain can apparnetly set off labour.

Helloo everyone else - must try harder to keep up during the week!

ataraxis · 21/07/2008 20:09

OK, first the me bit. Scan was fine, thanks for the support - definitely a girl, currently weighing 2399g (@ 5lb4) - don't know what that will make her at birth, forgot to ask, but looking heavier than the boys (maybe she will be early .

albs, was flicking through the posts and just saw your comment "left the shagging pipes alone" - my goodness that got my mind into overdrive until I had the context!

sazzles, think yourself lucky. DS2 (yes, him again...) didn't sleep at all in the day for about the first 2 months and then dropped daytime naps @ 18 months.

vg - was thinking in the car (and relevance to later posts) - it is backs of legs that I have always been asked to roll onto my front for waxing... leg raises are for another area entirely .

ts, glad you are doing ok today. Contractions for that long before a birth must be very frustrating.

ataraxis · 21/07/2008 20:12

has anyone heard from bealcain recently?

ChaCha · 21/07/2008 20:51

Have lost the plot with all the pipe shagging and cages!!! Think am on the wrong thread

VG - Thanks for email reply. I am not one of the ones you mentioned because I use the H part of double barrel not the B. Will email you full name to add me.

Having now had dinner am retiring to do nothing. Have a good night all.

Oh, Ataraxis - that's good news!!
Bealcain - hope all is well. And Ilana hope you are in that happy, sleepy place with LO x

ChaCha · 21/07/2008 20:54

LOL to self at happy, sleepy place.... i get topped up v.well after my babies!!

CaptainCaveman · 21/07/2008 21:25

Where does the day go? Had an excellent time out with ds and friends today. WEather was glorious and the park was quite empty to say it's summer holiday time. Got home about 5.45. Lovely swollen feet, ankles and calves as a result of day out mostly spent walking/standing.
Also had some quite intense period type pains (ouch type) that lasted for around 20 mins.

chacha I think it was you - email me; [email protected] for mobile number swapping. Same goes for anyone else who wants to swap numbers for post-baby texting purposes
