Just to make you all laugh - I got out all my maternity clothes from 8 years ago and they are DISGUSTING - the trousers are so narrow at the bottom, I look like Max Wall.....I can't wait for this scan so I can go serious maternity shopping..... I'm just going to chuck all the old ones out...so there (that's what happens when you only have children every four years.....either that, or it is because we only have sex during the Olympics

Do you only have sex every 4 years beachyhead!? My due date is really near DS's birthday and we've had plenty of jokes about only doing it once a year. I also know what you mean about maternity clothes mine are only 2 years old and there are some definite what was thinking in there. I really embraced my femininity last time, lots of dresses and flowers, now I look at it and think I can't run around after DS in that!! Am at that terrible in between stage, where nothing fits, regular clothes are too small and maternity clothes are too big.
Azure try not to worry, I was 12+4 by the time I had my scan and it seemed an eternity to wait, but everything was fine.
I saved my best news, I've felt my baby move, definite prods and flutters, very, very exciting!!

my 2 boys have 2 weeks between their birthdays and this baby is due a week after my DD's birthday!! although they will all have different months! we get lots of comments!

Miaou-sorry to hear your pelvis is getting worse. Have you got a referal to a physio yet? Well worth getting one ASAP.
Mine is getting worse. Can only walk to school and back once a day and have to drive the other 2 times. That is with my very sexy tubi-grip girdle on as well! Want to keep as mobile as poss to try and reduce the weight gain!

Hope all those scans go well in the next few weeks.
Can't belive I'm 14wks now! the last 2 weeks have gone really quick.

kizzy, I too have my scan tomorrow so am excited but all the usual apprehension too. Good luck x
Still feeling so sick and am hoping that it passes soon. Tonight ds was talking about me having a baby (he doesn't know yet but is a bit obsessed about babies atm) and he said that he wanted 2 babies - a boy that could have his old cot and we could buy a new cot for the girl. Let's hope his 'predictions'are wrong tomorrow. Not sure I could manage twins!

Kizzy212 and Bluestar, best of luck for your scans tomorrow. Kate how lovely to feel the baby move - I can't wait. On the theme of children with similiar birthdays, this baby is due two days before DS's 4th birthday (and a week before he starts school). Based on last time, late August is really the worst time to have a baby - still, too late now. DS's birthday party is going to require some serious back-up planning! Beachyhead LOL at Max Wall trousers - I know just what you mean.

Meant to say beachyhead I put my back out early on - was in agony for about 5 days but it went pretty quicky fortunately. Hope its the same for you.

My due date is about 2 weeks after my ds's birthday but am sure it will be a bit longer as guess I'll be late again. Not sure what to do about a party for him this year though.

Well I've still got my matty clothes from ds nearly 6 years ago. I am going to wear the dungerees again - 3rd time round and the summer dresses are Ok as they are just a simple style. Have ordered some new trousers though.

Well I think I am feeling movements too - still very slight though

Good luck kizzy and bluestar for tomorrow.

Miaou - how are you?

So my osteopath has told me to stay off back treatment for a couple of weeks due to my history!!!! so I might try reflexology for pain relief.

How were the scans today? 6 days till mine - I'm preparing myself for some horrible odds, but just hoping they are all right enough (not that I know what all right enough is, at the moment)

I have my first midwife appointment on Thursday and hoping for referrral to the consultant so I can get on the pre-eclampsia high dose vitamins that I need to take from Week 14 (God, this pregnancy lark is too much) . How is everyone else today? August thread seems a little subdued......

Hi Jac and welcome.
I've had an eventful day, I fainted this morning in Waitrose. If you ever feel as if you need to keel over in a shop, I highly recommend it, the staff were lovely and even fanned me with a piece of cardboard. I was mortified though, I ended up on the floor with DS wondering what on earth was going on, bless him. So I went to the doctors and he sid I need to take it easy after the injection, I thought I had been, but obviously not. He also listened for the baby and heard a lovely strong, swooshy heartbeat. So now I think I'm having another boy as it sounded like DS, but who knows, I donlt care I'm just glad I haven't done either of us a mischief.

Kizzy and bluestar, I hope that your scans were OK today and KMS I'm sorry to hear that you're having such a rough time so soon.

Hello Jac, welcome.

Kate100-thanks for your sympathy, but I think you deserve quite a bit yourself. you've had quite a bad time with the worry of chicken pox, and then that lovely jab!! Now fainting. glad all is ok.

Hope the scans went well Kizzy212 and bluestar.

Hi all, welcome Jac.

It is quite subdued on here. I know personally that I am sometimes afraid to come and check and post because there has been so much bad news, but I guess I just need to get over that. I really thought I'd be posting a lot more than I have.

Looking forward to hearing the good news about everyone's scans. I won't be getting another one till about 20 weeks, since I got the early one because of the bleeding. I want to live vicariously through your scans, I guess.

On a really happy note, I just found out today that one of my friends is pregnant and is due less than 2 weeks after me. It is great, because she had to go through 5 attempts at IVF to get pregnant with her DS, and she just wasn't up to doing that again, so they were planning on adoption, and she got pregnant without any help when they weren't even trying. She didn't want to say anything until she was farther along. Long boring story, I know, but everyone in our playgroup is either pregnant, or trying, and she was feeling really bad about being the only one not being able to get pregnant again. I can't stop smiling for her.

Hope those of you feeling bad are doing better.

Hi

I'm due sometime in August too... not sure when because I haven't even notified GP yet to start seeing midwife. Not sure if I want NHS hospital birth this time... would really like to have this one at home. Twin boys are 2 1/2 now, and were born in hospital but don't really want to be in that atmosphere again if I can help it.

I never thought about it with the first pregnancy, but I can't help worrying about miscarriage with this one for some reason. Been a bit stressed lately with toddlers, etc. so maybe this is why.

If anyone who hasn't had a scan yet is feeling the same please talk to me!

Hi everyone. Hello colinsmommy, I wondered where you were! So nice to see a message from you again! I tend to be online during the day now that I am a SAHM so we won't be crossing paths as much as we used to . So pleased for your friend - a similar thing happened to a friend of mine when I was pg with dd2 - in the end we gave birth 6 days apart! It was so lovely to be able to share our joys, anxieties etc.

Hello jac, and erinleigh, and welcome! Erinleigh, I think anxieties are far more likely the second time around (or 3rd in my case!) - I know I will not relax until I have had my scan later today. I know for me, it is partly because I am far more aware of what can go wrong, and partly because the only thing that has confirmed my pg so far is my own home pregnancy test - I've not heard a heartbeat, had a doctor do a test, or had a urine sample taken ... I can't get it out of my head that someone is going to turn round to me and say "and what gave you the idea you were pregnant? There's no baby here..." Silly really, I only have to relive the morning sickness and look down at my swelling abdomen!

But anyway, scuse me for waffling on - share your anxieties with us, get yourself a gp appointment and confirm what's going on, and share your news with us!

Welcome to Jac and Erinleigh. Erinleigh, do you know when your last period was? If you are entitled / want a nuchal fold scan, it has to be done before 13+6 weeks, so I would recommend contacting your doctor asap. I have also been worried sick about miscarrying - I m/c twice before this pregnancy and unfortunately there were a lot of losses on the previous "Due in August" thread. As we get towards the second trimester the risk of miscarriage decreases substantially, which is reassuring.

Colinsmommy, good to hear from you again. Yes, it has been subdued here, but soon everyone will be past the 12 week mark, photos of scans in hand (if they get one), and we can all start blooming in the second trimester.

Miao, good luck for the scan today. Kizzy and Bluestar, how did yours go?

Kate100, how horrible to faint like that. I have a strong memory of fainting in a shop when I was 8, and my older sister refusing to acknowledge me (mum & dad had just stepped in the next department). I hope your bum is recovering.

Erinleigh - same as me, so your due date is 27th August and you are now 11 weeks and 4 days pregnant.....welcome to the gang and I would get your scan booked up quick - I'm having mine on Monday....(sorry have I mentioned that before )....went to the osteopath today as they said they could do some gentle manipulation, so feeling a bit sore now, but it should get better - hopefully no damage done to lump.....

Yes scan went well even though baby was very uncooperative! A good viewing nuchal scan takes 5-7 mins - I was scanned for 45 mins which also involved jumping up & down and jogging in the scanning room to get baby to move position and then after 45 mins, I had to go for a walk and then come back for another 10 mins of scanning to look at the nose. Just when the baby was in a good position, it put its hand across its face-still I got my scans worth I suppose! Have now started to tell people too so that's nice.

How was the scan? i thought i was gonna cry. i know this may sound strange to some people but i became very nervous when arriving at hospital, i kept thinking "what if it aint there" "what if i aint pregnant" lol has anyone else had these thoughts.
but as soon as i saw the baby it was like........ there isnt words.i had two pictures. one you can see body arms and legs and second photo he started waving his hands towards mouth.i couldnt believe how fully formed they are at 13 weeks. they changed date to a few days earlier so im now due 17th of aug...
but i must say considering its a mothers scan of her baby the ladies in the room wasnt very chatty. she just said what needed to be said at that was it. didnt even laugh when partner made joke about something. i hope i get a nice one on 7th april at next scan.

hello to new members!!!
