Blossom2, I'm not surprised your immune system is low. I've had a lingering bad cold and pregnancy vitamin tablets make me feel too ill to take. No idea what to do about boosting your immune system, but interested to hear any suggestions.

Kate100 I also have difficult veins - the midwife wasn't able to take any blood last time and I had to go to the hospital, where they eventually used a vein in the back of my hand. I've had black and blue arms from someone attempting to take blood on other occasions. The woman you had sounds like a witch.

Forevermore, sorry you're feeling low. I hope you feel more reassured that a discharge is normal. When is your scan?

Josey - hello and welcome.

kate - what a horrible experience. Hope your arms get better soon. I had a trainee midwife in my first pregnancy and she messed me up with lots of bruises and I have easy veins too.

Miaou - welcome back. Do you think you will miss the island? Good luck to your dh.

blossom - hope you feel better soon. I had a stomach bug back in Nov, followed by horrible month long cold and ms of course ... time just made me feel better and lots of early nights.

Welcome josey.

I've just got a maternity swimming costume so am using it this afternoon with the kids. Feel so much better and hungry all the time.

Hi everyone - thanks for all the good wishes for the move. We are settling in fine and the dds have started their new school and are really enjoying it (it has more than double the number of pupils of their old school - TWENTY!!). Dh did his first day at work today and enjoyed it too. Yes I will definitely miss the island and the people - I rang bensmum3 today and we are both missing each other already!

pg-wise - I am filling out a bit now and about to get on ebay to bid for some maternity clothes! And does anyone know where I can buy a maternity swimsuit that isn't navy or black? I'm very pale skinned and look lousy in dark colours!

m/s is easing off now - have gone from being sick, to retching, to now just feeling a little queasy after a meal. Thank God.

Hiya and Thanx for the welcomes

I know how you feel about the veins with my first I fainted in the surgery, this time the midwife decided to do it at home for me at my booking in appointment so thankfully I could stay passed out on the sofa, I think they find it a fun release for a bad day using hormonal emotional women to stick pins in!
as for the immune system i always have a redoxin vit c with breakfast and take busy B in the morning as well (if you can stomach it just now) its well worth it I havent had a cold in long enough and my DH has just had man flu which I have managed to escape!!
He works away for 2 weeks at a time just went away last night so nice to have something like this to keep me going and know im not alone

Miaou, I though I went to a small primary school with 50 pupils! DS has 20 in his pre-school class alone. You're so right about maternity swimsuits. Last time around I got a purple two-piece from Jojomamanbebe, but a glance at their site now shows they do - black and navy.

Twiga, sorry to hear you're still so sick - yes, roll on the "blooming" stage.

Forevermore, could the woman's health scan be a cervical smear test, independent of the pregnancy?

I still haven't got the paperwork through for my booking-in appointment next week. Looks like I'll be giving them another call.

hi everyone.....welcome to the newcomers!!

i'm having a nightmare trying to get quality sleep, and last night i kept dp awake all night too.

is anyone else having a terrible time with their hair? mine is quite often 'difficult' but has turned into a complete frizzy mess that feels like straw. i've spent so long growing it i really don't want to have it cut off, but i look a fright all the time!

my friend was induced yesterday and we still haven't heard anything, i'm praying for her that she's not having a horrible labour!!

i have sympathy for those who are feeling rough. i was moaning about how dreadful i've been feeling to my friend and she made me feel really guilty.............she's 23 weeks pregnant and at 8 weeks was rushed into hospital as she'd lost so much weight. every time i start to grumble i have to remind myself i'm actually getting off quite lightly as far as sickness goes.

well i'm going to try and get a nap this afternoon as we are going to a gig tonight.

take care everyone

Yep Moschops, my hairs a nightmare too - just very flat looking and won't do anything. Am thinking about growing out some of the layers so I can get it tied back. Am also finding I'm up at least twice through the night for the toilet which is a real pain. Feeling really sick again today - off to have a bath and chill, see if it helps.

My Nuschal scan in 14th feb (how romantic) and no one seems to know why i am booked to see the consultant on the 8th. Usually to do with abnormal history. I have had diabetes scare in the past, so this could be it?

Kizzy212-be sure to mention it as it could be the start of SPD. This website goes into it better than I can. pelvicpartnership

I had it mildly with no.2 then with no.3 eneded up on crutches. It has started a lot earlier this time and seeing a physio early and following the guidlines about keeping your knees together is really helping.

Hope it isn't that but better to get it cheked out and advise sort early!

Agree about the sleep - sometimes I am so tired but just cannot sleep and then just when you nod off, you need to pee! My hair is also driving me crazy - was due to get my haircut next week but now have the scan the same day - how typical is that? Looking forward to buying some new clothes though and being able to wear maternity stuff once everyone knows instead of squeezing into my jeans! Nausea seems to be wearing off a little too.

Josey, how about the brown linen dress on here or the embroided skirt - could find a nice top to go with? suggestions - I realise the brown is still quite a dark colour, but the linen would be nice and cool.

Morning ladies, thank you for all your kind words, it made me feel much better. Unfortunately I didn't have any antibodies to chicken pox, so I'vs had to have the dreaded injection. I had to drive 20 miles to go and pick it up as they don;t keep it in our health authority, madness, didn't get home 'til nearly 8 last night and nearly missed DS's bedtime. The this morning had to wait for 50 minutes at the doctors and then got even better news, it's not 1 injection like last time, it's 2!! One in each cheek IYKWIM. So now I can't sit down or lie down comfortably. Feel pretty miserable, but at least my baby will be safe and that's the most important thing.
In other news it's my first day in maternity clothes today, I wnated to make it to 16 weeks before I gave in this time, as I know that I get bored, but baby had other ideas!!

Report
Azure · 04/02/2005 10:38

Sorry to hear about your sore bum, kate100. At least that's all over with (well, when you can sit down again). Wow, maternity clothes already - but then you are 3 weeks or so ahead of me. I'm waiting until after my scan before I dig out my clothes from before. Has much changed in maternity fashion in 4 years? Unfortunately some of my stuff is in the States, as my sister living there was borrowing it, and I don't know when I'll get it back.

I phoned the midwives today to chase my paperwork - apparently it was sent out on the 25th Jan, but it looks like it never got there. They are sending out copies. Still a week to go until I see someone - what a drag.

Hi folks. Kizzy, I am having the same problem re the aching in my pelvis/pubic bone. I spoke to my mw about it, and am seeing the consultant next Wednesday, so will also pursue it. I've gone from being achy when I have done a lot, eg walking a long way, shifting boxes around (have just moved house), to today having a permanent ache which is becoming more uncomfortable. Mw was sympathetic but did say that there isn't much they can do about it! If you go to archive messages, and type in SPD in the text box, and choose pregnancy as the subject, a couple of threads come up with some advice. And thanks Twiga for the link! PS never had any probs before and this is my third pregnancy.

Good Morning Everyone and Welcome to those of you who have just joined.
Have been looking in to see how everyone is but keep russhing off for a biscuit (I'm so hungry all the time) before I get the chance to post. Was reading up about weight gain in pg and am paranoid that I will of course be way over the limit. Not in maternity stuff yet(?) but couldn't do up my top button this morning and the choice is becoming some what limited!
KMS - I posted the name of the site with the Chinese Fertility Chart on the previous thread. Don't know if you saw it. Let us know what result you get.

Hope everyone's sickness and other discomforts are begining to ease and that your all starting feel a little less tired.

I've got my 20wk scan on 17th March has anyone else got dates yet. Not sure if I want to know the sex, despite my obsession with daft methods of prediction, but will ask them to write it down for dh, as he's really keen to know.

With regard to the Chinese gender prediction, it was right for DS. This time around my conception date was the end of Nov / beginning of Dec - so the chart says either a boy or a girl. I could have worked that out for myself! All being well I will definitely find out the sex at the 20 week scan. I just want to have a 12 week scan first.

Talking about weight gain, you would not believe how obsessed they are in Paris about how much you can gain. My doctor said i should gain no more than 9kg this pregnancy - yeah like thats likely. I gained 3 stone with DD and only lost 2 stone of that.

I'm in maternity clothes as well - nice little bump forming
my second scan is on the 25 march. when are you due Jellybean??

Report
Twiga · 04/02/2005 11:40

Kate, sending you much sympathy, hope you're not too sore for too long.

My 20 week scan will be the 19th April, feels like ages away. Only maternity item I'm into is bras as my underwired ones were getting uncomfortable. Got measured a fortnight ago to discover I've gone up to 34E - chest feels like it's preceeding me at the min.

Miaou, I think it's KMS not me you need to thank for the link on pelvis stuff - my link was for clothes and somewhat more trivial .

Got my first midwife appt today, not sure what to expect but hoping to get some advice about my working hours/risks at work. On a weight front, think I've gained about 4lb so far which is about right I think for this stage - have suspicion it's largely down to my bust!
