Duh Twiga - it's the old pregnancy brain thing...

jellybrain · 04/02/2005 13:10

blossom2- I'm due 4thAugust.
Glad I'm not in Paris, the site I looked out suggested 25-30lbs if you're average weight before pg, more if your under and less if you start off over. Apparently the more weight gain the bigger the baby. This was certainly true for ds1.

Azure · 04/02/2005 13:58

I am in the glorious position of having no scales, hence having no idea how much I weigh or how much I'm going to put on. I had no idea when pregnant with DS either. I was never weighed by my midwives or GP. I think ignorance is bliss!

Eulalia · 04/02/2005 14:22

Miaou - ds is in a school of just 23, with 9 in his class. We live in a tiny village. My joke is that I am having this baby just to keep the school numbers up! I saw some coloured costumes on eBay but have just bought one myself - black!

forevermore - good news on the all clear.

kate - glad to hear you've got the injections out of the way but 'ouch' - didn't sound like fun.

Speaking of weight I am a litte worried that I've not put on any yet. Weighed myself at my parents house this morning. I am 15 weeks tomorrow. I do have a bump though so something is happening. Am hungry all the time so I guess I just need to keep eating

congrats Nome, and keep posting! IKWYM about seeming real, I haven't really dared to 'feel' pg yet, and I don't think it will really sink in until my scan next week, despite all the pg symptoms and thickening waist! btw I haven't put on any weight yet either, though I didn't weigh myself in either of my previous pregnancies, so maybe that's normal for me (as well as you lot!)

champs · 04/02/2005 16:37

hi all!!
my trousers are definetly getting snug... ok bursting!! grrrrrr
have amazing craving for home made wedges. and red apples (not together)
still feel ill, still off work

josey · 04/02/2005 19:10

Thanx Twiga think the brown might be a bit better than the beige might make me look a bit washed out, need some fake tan i think though not sure if you can use it when pg?! pleanty time to find out.

sorry about your bum kate hope you recover soon.

Still havent had scan will be 22nd and i dont get one at 20 weeks. They dont give you the choice of finding out the sex at my hospital. I'd rather not know, however last time i knew myself what, when, weight and how long i did really well was only a oz out, i also had a major problem with pink had nightmares and everything which is weird cause i quite like pink.

not too bad on the weight so far though dont think it will last as im addicted to bread and cheese just now and i put on over 3 stone last time.

Blossom2 i think i would have kicked my doctor in the u know whats if he suggested that to me

blossom2 · 04/02/2005 19:15

oh its quite common here - unfortunately. a friend who was 7 months pregnant went to see her doctor and he said that she should not put on any more weight as its not good for her figure or her husband?!?!?!

we're in paris and you see so many slim french woman with the tinest bump and then you see them with 1 day old babies and they have flat stomachs. This place really makes you feel insecure.

josey · 04/02/2005 20:39

oh blosson2!that cant be healthy for the women or the babies. Try not to feel insecure as long as you and your family are happy and healthy to hell with them and there crasy ideas, it must be very hard though i feel for you.
im off to bed with a bottle of gaviscon i feel like crap

KMS · 04/02/2005 23:33

Hi all,
Miaou-sympathy re pelvis. It does start with "only when you over do it" whick is why I felt I had to warn Kizzy212. Hope things don't get too bad.

I feel like C**p at the moment as I have caught DD's bad cold. At least she wasn't croupy last night so I should get some sleep tonight.
Must get to bed!

kizzy212 · 05/02/2005 13:53

i am definatly noticing a difference with this muscle pain. i did quite a bit of walking today! school and back and then for cuppa at friends. car in garage for MOT work. suffered really bad last night at work.in pelvic area. hope it doesnt get worse...

bluestar · 05/02/2005 14:01

Never will I say the nausea is wearing off again as yesterday it came back worse than ever and I was actually vomiting and again this morning. I thought that when you got to 12 weeks it should all wear off but it's getting worse. I was in bed at 7.30 last night as I felt so crap. Now I'm getting scared of what to eat in case it all comes back up again! I just want to feel normal again! I never had any of this with ds.

kate100 · 05/02/2005 14:51

Hi everyone
Had a very disturbed nights sleep. Everytime I moved I moved onto a bit that hurt, DH helpfully suggested that I sleep on my front!! On our baby!! Silly man.
Josey, fake tan is fine in pregnancy, I was so blotchy last time I put it religiously on may arms and legs. unfortuanately there were some definite lines which showed when I was in labour, the midwife looked a bit surprised.

Blossom2, eat whatever you like!!! stupid doctor, as if starving yourself is going to do you or your husband any favours either. Pregnant women are supposed to gain extra fat, it's part of the process.

Much sympathy to everyone with painful pelvises, hope you are getting by OK

For everyone starting to think about maternity clothes try the sale areas on the blooming marvellous and jojomamanbebe websites, definitely some bargains to be had. Azure I don't think that there is such a thing as maternity fashion, it's all fairly twee.

blossom2 · 05/02/2005 20:28

Thanks everyone for your support on the weight thing. I'm okay with all the weight gain during pregnant - and the french can stuff their views!!!!

Present cravings are: bacon & avocado sarnies, mozorella & tomatos and ceral or museli for breakfast. Thats not too unhealthy - very very yummy

josey · 05/02/2005 20:40

good for you blossom - have gone off bacon couldnt get enough of it with my first.but you are sounding very healthy!! i see what you mean about the french having teeny bumps i saw a web sit for clothes(french and they all looked about size 8 with a grapefruit up there jumpers!

moschops i saw a red swimsuit today dont know how you are with red but it was on Vertbaudet.co.uk.

Fantastic news about the fake tan.

I just saw a thread on here it was to sign a petition to make public places safe for childern as a wee boy drowned in a pond - i have signed maybe some of you fancy doing the same.

blossom2 · 05/02/2005 20:44

i'm eating more heathly than i did first time round. this time round, i can just bear sugar in my tea?!?!?!

i'm also having a cup of coffee each morning and at maximum 3 cups of tea a day. that is within the normal cafferine limit isn't it??? i'm trying to cut down with the hope that baby wont come out all hyper etc....

josey · 05/02/2005 20:51

im the other way round dont have a sweet tooth usually but do now had a practic run with pancakes tonight and covered them in sryup and squirty cream 1 only have 3-4 cups of tea cant drink coffee at the mo which i take sugar in so thats one little blessing haha! i keep pryaing that this one will be like the last and love its bed ds is a fantastic sleeper though needs to do alot during the day or gets restless and hyper (like he is just now0 [angrey]

blossom2 · 05/02/2005 20:57

i'm secretly hoping that because this pregnancy is so different from my first with DD, that it'll be a boy (will find out on the 25 march)

silly and probably my pea-sized brain working overload!!

josey · 05/02/2005 21:05

haha i have been thinking the same in kinda got it in my head it will be a girl this time as everything has been different, so your not alone,
dh would like a girl says he already has his boy although ds is from previous but not really known other father so im a bit mixed as i know deep down he would like a boy you know its a man thing - god i have a stich thing in my belly

blossom2 · 05/02/2005 21:08

do you think the stitch thing could be baby???

I've been feeling big kicks/movements since yesterday (15wks) but sensations since 9/10 weeks.

i even had a dream last night it was a boy and we'd dressed him up in a sky blue sleepsuit. i know what you mean about having a boy - i think DH is secretly hoping for a boy ...

josey · 05/02/2005 21:14

no think i have pulled something - i have felt little flips now and then thats me just 11 weeks though i got my first big kick with first at around 14weeks i actually saw his foot it was tiny thats when i wa very very skinny though haha!
aw thats really nice i was like that with my boy and had nightmares about pink i was in and out of hosp with him and they put me in a bed with pink bedding i refused to go in it till they moved me or changed it mental person i am!!
omg! ds just asked when can i have a baby please, its v hard keeping it secret from him just now! he is 5 and picks up on everything how old is you dd?

blossom2 · 05/02/2005 21:25

DD will be 3 in March. I think she's in two minds about having a baby in the family. On the one hand she adores them but on the other i think she's still trying to cope with jealous emotions. She is still at the 'mine' stage. But she'll be 3.5 yrs when baby arrives so plenty of time for us to talk her round (i hope).
she came to our first scan and wasn't too impressed although you could see the baby very clearly. we'll see...

how are you with the m/s and when is your scan?? i'm being lazy as its almost 10.30pm here (paris time)

josey · 05/02/2005 21:35

im bit worried about telling ds as it has always really been just me and him although dh is with him all the time when home as he does 2 on 2 off it still leaves just me and ds so think he will struggle to cope with a baby.
girls come round better i think if she has a pram and a baby of her own maybe she could be mammy with you! good luck with it anyway.
my scan is the 22nd it seems ages away and i will be the only one i get. ms has been on and off in all pretty good compared with last as i was sick from day 1 till the day after he was born i even tore my stomach and had blood coming up so have been very luck and dont mind being sick the odd day.
i have been waiting for dh to come on msn so can speak to him only got 5 min phone call tonight but he must be in bed my now - have been very lazy all day! how long have you lived in paris? it must be a lovely place to live

josey · 05/02/2005 21:37

have you / or anyone had bother with itchy skin? its driving me crackers every night starting up again just now
