I am itchy EVERYWHERE!!! i though it was the only one. initially thought i could be dry skin and everything stretching but will mention it to doctor at next meeting.

how come you only get 1 scan?? where are you??

Paris is lovely and hard, and i miss my old live in London. We've been out here since October - not long but fairly settled in that DD is at nursery and i've found her 'french' tumble tots. in search of decent music class for her now!!!

am i getting too personal if i ask where DH is??
my DH is out with the husbands of my 2 friends i've made !!! their no doubt having a curry at this very moment ....

josey · 05/02/2005 21:49

oh thank god i thought the same just looked in a pg book and it does happen though if gets bad it could be a sign of obstetric cholestasis which can affect liver argh thin we better mention it just to be safe!!
no no he works off shore so in the middle of the north sea with v bad weather and phone lines just now very lonely!!
i dont know about the scans i got 3 the last time but thats cause i had a bleed and they had to check placenta and i lost water so had to check that too - we in highlands - saying that it could have changed as was 6 years ago was pg last!

Twiga · 05/02/2005 21:52

Yup, I've got itchy skin but have found a solution - Avent (future mother) Indulgent Body Cream - hypoallegenic, light fragrence and supposed to combat stretch marks, moisturise and firm. Do I sound like a walking advertisment or what?!

Am off to bed in a min, very tired after shift at work - was sleeping in last night and never get the same ammount of rest I would at home. Went to Tesco with DH this evening and the whole experience made me feel really sick, all the food and smells etc. Just grabbed enough for tea and came away, looks like I'll be doing my shopping on-line for the next wee while. Don't seem to be getting any cravings, just an ever increasing list of things that taste funny and a real lack of appetite - if it doesn't just appear in front of me, I struggle, which really isn't like me at all normally love food. Anyway, enough of this waffle, goodnight x

Twiga · 05/02/2005 21:53

Aah another one in Scotland, I'm in Aberdeen.

josey · 05/02/2005 21:55

thanks twiga will defo try that especially if it firms it cant be bad stuff lol.
hope that you feel better tomorrow

blossom2 · 05/02/2005 21:56

Highlands in scotland??? DH went walking there at the end of october. now thats sounds like a lovely place to live!!!

we have 3 scans here which is nice and the quality is amazing. we'll have to wait and see if whether the french health system is really as good as they say it is!!!

Children are very good with change and much more adaptable than we are - DD amazes me how well she's settled into being here and everyone speaking french - much better than i have. I think we both have time to work on our 'babies' about the new baby!! hope that makes sense ...

josey · 05/02/2005 21:56

really kewl! im going to your neck of the woods next month for a family party - im north of inverness

blossom2 · 05/02/2005 21:59

well if you're in paris, you can always look us up for a coffee ... what does 'kewl' mean?!?!?!?

Twiga · 05/02/2005 22:01

Good part of Scotland, lived up in Kinloss for a while as a teenager, Dad was stationed at the RAF base there. Really like Inverness area, lots of good walking to be had and very pretty. Got the cream in mothercare, but boots stock it too, it's around £6 for a 200ml tube, maybe on the pricey side for what I guess is essentially a moisturiser, but it definately works on the itching. Right definately away to bed, take care.

josey · 05/02/2005 22:02

yes scotland it is lovely and amasing when you get the weather we got married in aug and it was 32 degrees with the most amazing clear blue sky the other 365 days wear rain haha not quite but almost.
well im sure it cant be worse than the nhs i think our scanner is the first and only the hospital has had very backwards!
i know what you mean and your right just you wait in a few months dd will be grumping at you in french so if you dont understand you cant give her a row

josey · 05/02/2005 22:03

no it will be worth it to stop the itch! glad boots have it as we no longer have mothercare for last 6 years!!

blossom2 · 05/02/2005 22:11

thats if i can tear myself away from this computer and mumsnet ....

definitely gone now ...

Azure · 06/02/2005 15:56

I had a panic attack today. I thought I felt bleeding and got in a rising state of panic until I could get to the loo (it wasn't bleeding). I then practically hyperventilated for 10 minutes before I could calm down. I dragged myself to the park with DS and DH and felt better for the distraction. I feel normalish now. Everything seems to be hanging on thin thread for me at the moment. Still, my midwife appointment papers finally came through yesterday - roll on Friday for my appointment, and more importantly scan date. Must go, prospective after-school nanny turning up for an interview anytime now.

Miaou · 06/02/2005 17:15

Azure, sorry you were feeling so bad earlier. Maybe it was just a way for all your anxieties to surface at once, particularly with your notes not turning up and not having had a scan as yet. ((((((hugs)))))))) to you! Glad the notes have now turned up though, that must be a relief! Have you got a scan date yet?

I'm going for my scan on Wednesday with my mum - dh can't come (which he is very disappointed about). I definitely don't want to find out the sex, to the point where I won't look (and won't let my mum look!} at the screen unless the radiographer assures me we won't be able to see! That's just me though, I don't think there's anything wrong with finding out!

Twiga and Josey - I'm in the highlands too! I will be going to the Belford (Fort William) for the birth - am going to look round the unit when I go for the scan next week. There's no epidural, don't think they even do pethidine (not that I'd touch it), but they do have a birthing pool, and since my next nearest hospital is at Inverness and at least two hours by car, I'm definitely going there! Josey, will you be going to Raigmore?

josey · 06/02/2005 17:54

Azure hope you are feeling better panic attacks are horrible things.

Miaou Yes I will be going to raigmore I will prob have to have a c section this time as had serious 3rd deg tear with 1st and was in theater for 3 hours after.so even if they let me go natural i will be having epidural just in case!
I will be told at scan what they will do but im so scared of getting a section i dont know how they will actually get me to the hospital.
is it the belford that you will be going to? i have heard it is nice there, take it you would have to stay at raigmore for a few weeks before if you had to go there?
I did seem to pull a mussle in my stomach yesterday the pain during the night was unbearable easing off a bit today until i try and move

Miaou · 06/02/2005 20:59

Hi josey - I guess if you are having a c-section you will be induced, so you can make arrangements to get there in plenty of time! How far will you have to go? I've not had a c-section before but there are plenty here who have and can reassure you about it, and certainly the consultant should be able to give you any information you need. Glad to hear good reports about the Belford. I've not pursued the Raigmore option, I don't think you would get to stay there (before the birth) unless you were from the islands. Will find out what happens if I need to be transferred though! don't fancy that!

josey · 06/02/2005 21:08

im only 20 mins away from Raigmore so not really a prob for me, made the trip last time ok!!(v quick labour though)so might be good idea to be pre booked in!
The lat time i was in a few times with probs and there was a girl from Fort William who had to say in till delivery she had diabetic probs though. hopefully things will work out ok and you wont have to come up would be a nightmare for you especially with 2(hope im right)young ones already.
thanks about the section info im such a whimp with blood and stuff i dont know how i will manage - my dh used to be a butcher and he jokes with me that he has seen plenty cows cut open before so at least he will be ok!!!lucky i have a gsoh

beachyhead · 07/02/2005 15:09

Azure - I am so sorry you had a panic attack - I do know how you feel - I spent most of Saturday in tears as I wasn't feeling sick and I have convinced myself that something is not right in there. I have my scan a week today and my first MW appointment on Thursday. Can anyone tell me if they will try to listen for a heartbeat at the MW appointment or is it too early for their equipment? I just want this week to pass .....and I've put my back out and am in agony hobbling around! Still enough of these woes - I can't believe people have dates for their 20 week scan - I feel left behind

Miaou · 07/02/2005 15:14

Beachy, don't feel left out, I've not had my first scan yet either! AFAIK they can hear a heartbeat from about 10 weeks with a doppler thingy, about 13/14 weeks with a stethoscope. I think you are about 10 weeks? So it would depend what equipment they have.

I feel lousy today - all I have done is strip the beds and do the washing, and knit and watch Shrek on DVD! (Bought it for the kids this w/e!). My pelvis is very painful today too, which is slightly worrying as I haven't done any exercise. Think I've got a virus too - I feel all fluey. All together now....awwww....

Eulalia · 07/02/2005 15:20

Azure - hope you are feeling more calm now.

I am more itchy than normal (suffer from dermatitis) on my hands, arms and a few red patches on my face.

Twiga - we used to go to that Tesco regularly, lived just a 5 min drive away. I miss the shops now we are out in the country although its nice having fields too.

beachyhead - my midwife didn't do the heartbeat but I am sure she could try to reassure you. Don't worry the scan will come roudn soon enough.

Got to go as ds is home from school and sitting on my lap and I can't see properly! hope evey4rone else is ok.

Azure · 07/02/2005 15:20

Beachyhead, sounds like we're in the same boat (well, I haven't put my back out, you poor thing) - I'm sorry to hear you were upset at the weekend too . The problem with having a due date at the end of the month is that everyone else on this thread is a lot further on than we are. I was flicking through "What to Expect When You're Expecting" last night (I really dislike the book, but it's the main one I've got from last time) and it said that a heartbeat at this stage can normally be detected only with super-duper equipment - not the sort of thing a midwife is likely to have. With a stethoscope (sp?) it might be up to 18 weeks before a heartbeat is detected. So, not much reasurance there. I can't get the date of my scan until after my midwife's appointment, which is plain stupid. As my appointment is not until I'm 12+1 weeks, I'll be lucky to get my nuchal fold test done in the requisite time. Let alone get a convenient time for me and DH. I'll join you in wanting this week to pass quickly.

Azure · 07/02/2005 15:23

Thanks Eulalia, I'm not as panicky as I was.
