Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PetitFilou1 · 01/07/2008 11:49

Sazzles Yes - you are probably right if that is where it happens though no idea where I am going to give birth yet- leaflet says you need to buy lots of plastic ground sheets so I'm guessing that babies are born at floor level in a lot of cases!

ataraxis · 01/07/2008 11:51

petit, i was leaning/crouching against a chair/wall for most of mine with no 2. MWs brought sheets etc (good thing as we were totally unprepared - sense a theme ?).
It was amazing, 20 mins after DS2 was born, i popped upstairs for a quick shower and when i came down the place was immaculate!

Buckets · 01/07/2008 11:54

Forgot to add my prediction for Bealcain - I reckon she had it at 2.30am this morning.

PetitFilou1 · 01/07/2008 12:04

I have just realised I am old enough to be Bealcain's mother (almost)

Puts supportive motherly arms out

ataraxis · 01/07/2008 12:11

don't say that - i am the same age as you...! that would make us grandmothers?!

ataraxis · 01/07/2008 12:11

grandmothers who have children the same age as their grandchildren

PetitFilou1 · 01/07/2008 12:34

Yes, hmmmm. At 21 I was just coming out of University and moving to London with no dh or anything REMOTELY like him in sight

pregnancy1 · 01/07/2008 12:45

Albs that is brilliant! We are meeting somewhere in Woodford if that's okay with you. Depending on miamlas delivery/fitting, either at hers or somewhere on the broadway (halfway between our houses and with a fabulous little coffee shop!). I think Miamla will let us know the night before. It'll make me feel like I'm on ML (still have another month of work!).

TwilightSurfer · 01/07/2008 13:30

Hello ladies. Baby got the message and allowed me to sleep last night. Although DD didn't, wet her bed, and had to be relocated at 3am because I didn't feel like messing with bed linens. Baby is definitely lower. She's now able to grab my pubisthingyamis bone.

Dizzy > for a very good day for you and your mom.

Captain you are amazing with all the activities. DD's big event for the day will be going to tour the hospital with me and DH this evening.

Oops I know how last night went for you. What's up with these kids???

ALBS looking forward to what your MW says about the dropping thing.

Sazzles ENJOY your day.

Lastly, BEALCAIN. Here's hoping all is working out smoothly for you no matter what is happening at the moment.

TwilightSurfer · 01/07/2008 13:40

Dizzy, I almost forgot my new exciting news. I found a NEW baby name book and have just finished it. It's by Jennifer Moss who has something to do with the BabyNames.com website. The book's title is "The One-in-a-Million Baby Name Book". First it doesn't seperate female/male names just lists them all in bulk but with symbols showing gender preference. It rates names. It also suggests other names. For example if you like Claire it goes on to tell you people who like Claire also like Emma, Ava, Charlotte, Ella, Chloe, Grace, Olivia, Amelia and Abigail.

After going through the whole book and picking about twenty names, DH said he liked 3 of them. This is going to be a rough month.

LOL at 'grandmothers'... When my mum was my age I was a teenager

Ataraxis - Sounds lovely! We drove to the nearest beach which was 2 hours from the city, a very bad road that we almost had a horrible accident on when returning but once there I made asked DH to take the kids swimming while i rested and it was lovely to watch them with feet up drinking lots of ice cold fruit juice and reading magazines. By 3pm i was too hot to even stay in the shade so i would take the boys back to the room for a rest, worked out well then DH got his free time until the buffet commenced which was funny really because while everyone else filled their plates my starter salad sufficed as a whole meal followed by drink after drink, trips to the loo and 'i need to go now'.

Anyone have an idea as to elective dates? DS2 I was told would be 39+4 just a few days before EDD but m/w reckoned this one would be at least a week before, does it depend on the consultant or on particular pregnancies/circumstances?

waytoomuchchocolate · 01/07/2008 13:43

hi everyone.

yes captain caveman you can call me wtmc...bit of a mouthful otherwise isn't it...am novice at all things mumsnet and baby related!

blimey you lot can talk! have day off today so might just be able to keep up

first ante-natal class at the hospital this morning - they put the 'giving birth' video on had avoided all photos and chapters on birth until today, now can't stop thinking about it.

speaking of which is someone in labour already?! i still have 6 weeks of work left...but then I am the last on the list

ChaCha · 01/07/2008 13:44

Awwww...TS, what is it with men and names?!?
It's really weird this time because we don't know what it is we haven't really discussed any names at all. I mention a few in passing and he just looks at me and says 'wait and see'. This is the first time since beginning of PG that i'm started to feel some excitement!

TwilightSurfer · 01/07/2008 13:53

WTMC we have one member (BEALCAIN) who was 5cm and having regular contractions. We're waiting on an update from her now. She's a little early but all should be fine.

ChaCha my DH keeps telling me we have time but I really want to have a name now, it helps me connect and it would help DD connect. At the moment she's calling the baby Maggie...a name she and I came up with several months ago.

good idea sazzles , i might try the same with Anna as it is the only name i really like (weirdly had never thought of it before this one) and he has vetoed - no real reason, just 'don't like it' .

VintageGardenia · 01/07/2008 14:41

Hi guys grannies, sorry been patchy at posting lately.

LOL at blagging the massage oil! Hope it works out!

Welcome to daisy and choc.

I had a heap of work to do this morning, settled down in pjs with large mug raspberry leaf tea, turned on computer to get started & while was waiting for it to boot up flicked idly through diary only to realise I had a physio appt this morning. So went belting off and have come back with crutches and wrist splints. Crutches! Christ, I feel about ninety. Last week DS said to me (watching me bind self up into tubigrip, physio belt and belly band) "You're strapped up in slings as if you had broken a thousand legs." Ha. Wait till he sees me this evening.

Not much to report, only working v hard (till end next week) and horrible shooting pain down inside pelvis, but I'm sure you don't want to know about that!

Having been so good, eating mangos and fruit and juices etc throughout preg have now developed sudden weakness for sweety shite. Remember Pop Tarts a few weeks ago? Yesterday all I wanted was a Flake or chocolate buttons, for lunch ate one part Greek yoghurt to two parts honey! To punish myself I bought 2 punnets of soury gooseberries. Anyone remember how to make gooseberry fool?

ataraxis · 01/07/2008 14:48

Hi VG, me too with the pelvic shoots... not nice. This LO has decided to get particularly feisty over the last couple of days - she is booting me more than DS2 in a tantrum!

Was supposed to see mw today but some inconsiderate person had gone into labour so will have to rearrange...

pregnancy1 · 01/07/2008 14:56

Oh VG, I'm so glad I'm not alone. All my earlier cravings were around salad and fruit (went through a phase of making fruit juices in the blender every day). Now I'm addicted to chocolate (and I don't normally have a sweet tooth). I have bananas, plums and nectarines sitting on my desk and all I can think about is the mars bar hidden in my drawer.... I've developed an unhealthy craving for M&S birthday cake

By the way Sazzle Emma is a gorgeous name, i'm biased cos its my dd name!!

Hope you got on ok today dizzy...

Positive vibes to Bealcain... and TS so glad that lo calmed down abit and let you sleep...

Sorry if missed out on anyone xxxx

waytoomuchchocolate · 01/07/2008 15:16

sazzles, i think the coconut would count as 'fruit and veg' so you've achieved best of both worlds

TwilightSurfer · 01/07/2008 15:16

Finally you all have caught up with my sweet issues. I did not purchase another box of the devil's food cookies for fear turning into a cookie. However, my quest for sweets led me to the secret stash of Girl Scout Cookies I purchased back in February. {{{shhhh! I purchased an entire case of shortbreads dipped in chocolate .}}}
