yes sweetie, scan at 9.30 and GD clinic at 9.45 - they're hopeful - I've never been in and out for a scan in 15 minutes in my puff!!!

PetitFilou1 · 30/06/2008 21:26

dizzy I am very sorry to hear that. I hope your mum is looked after well and is as comfortable as she can be. Cry all you like and you don't need to blame it on the hormones - I would be crying pregnant or not in your situation.

sazzles I agree with you - ds2 is all elbows and knees at the moment. ds1 loves it when he can feel him 'bumping me'!

ataraxis · 30/06/2008 21:28

Hi all,

Welcome waytoomuchchocolate - hooray, I am no longer the last on the list...!

Firstly, sounds like some traumatic times have been had, I hope those of you who are having them are doing ok. Joining in the awe at Bealcain and her calmness, particularly on the 'oh, i just fell down the stairs and that's what started it' bit?!
Dizzy, I hope things with your mum are ok.

Very impressed with how organised everyone is. My excuse for having nothing is (a) i gave away or ebayed all of the stuff from the other two, being certain at that point i didn't want any more, and (b) the baby room only just being built, now plastered and not yet painted/carpeted so nowhere to put anything.... no pressure DH .

I am soooo proud of myself tonight - I ate rocket that i have grown in my very own vegetable patch - it even tasted like rocket - hooray .

ataraxis · 30/06/2008 21:32

Hi daisy, sorry for missing you off the earlier hello.

dizzydixies · 30/06/2008 21:32

ok for TS and am sorry if I desc it wrong

you need a couch/chair and lots of cushions/support

you want to be lying on the floor with your legs going up so your knees are on couch and calves/feet along cushion of couch (am I making sense up to now?)

your legs/back etc should be at about a 30 degree angle to the chair etc and SHOULD BE FULLY SUPPORTED BY A GRADIENT OF CUSHIONS ETC

esp behind your neck and beneath your head

this position should allow you to open up and take some really good deep breaths

where is VG when you need help desc something!?!?

a brief update re Mammydixie

consultant has finally been in to see her this evening (he's apparently been in surgery all day so I'll let him off this time) and seems to think that the bleeding isn't as bad as the GP was making out but she'll need to have more tests/scans tomorrow to see exactly whats happening

not a great time for us but at least he isn't as doom and gloom as the sodding GP who's got us all picking plots and choosing outfits

PetitFilou1 · 30/06/2008 21:39

Yes sazzles - I agree - do you get walloped as you are trying to get to sleep? dh can feel him bounding about when we are both in bed even when he isn't actually touching me! Another boisterous ds (sigh)!

ataraxis · 30/06/2008 21:40

Hi Sazzles, are you on maternity leave yet? Sharing your discomfort about feet in the ribcage - think this one is also back to back, slightly nervous about that, as b2b is the way DS2 came out...

Dizzy, hope your appointment goes well tomorrow, what are the implications of GD? (sorry for the ignorance)

ataraxis · 30/06/2008 21:42

fingers crossed for your mum dizzy, that sounds a bit more positive. Bloody GPs...

miamla · 30/06/2008 21:43

hi dizz
i've got visions of us all trying your position and having to be rescued by our respective other halves!

hi to all newbies and oldies

i'm pleased to announce that as of about 1pm today all of the skirting boards were firmly-ish attached to the walls. DP is now up there cleaning the room so i'll be able to paint them tomorrow. def have a night off tonight though

had horrible acid reflux thing earlier, was going to ask DP to get some gaviscon on the way home but i forgot. but you know what, he surprised me with a mint magnum and they really do help acid reflux! i apologise for not being a believer!

ooh and we unpacked all the boxes tonight. apart from our bed being against the wall in the nursery, we're ready for the arrival of a baby!
talking of which, anyone had any news from bealcain?

albs you had any thoughts about friday? do you fancy joining us? we've brought it forward a bit to late morning instead of lunch so it'll be a coffee and cake thing.

welcome back sazzles!

ataraxis · 30/06/2008 21:46

ooh, and a friend of mine's sister had her DC2 on Friday - 1hr 20mins start to finish labour... here's hoping!

ataraxis thank you, we're all aware that she's never going to beat this as another op would be too much for her and they've tryed everything chemo/radiotherapy wise but you just don't expect the worst - well I don't which is maybe stupid of me

am not really sure of implications of GD - I googled but got the horror stories so stopped doing it, I think it varies heavily for each pregnancy

they might be able to control it through diet/excercise or I may have to monitor my bloods/take insulin am not sure

most of the time it disappears after the pg finishes - am more worried about implications for baby

miamla very well done on the skirting, I've been in a bit of a funk today and managed to go nothing its dd1's nursery trip tomorrow so goodness knows what I'll manage to put together for a packed lunch

dh on nightshift so he may have to go to ASDA on his way home lol

mine fed herself a petitfilou using a chicken ball in batter from my chinese last night - apparently she prefers those to a spoon [bluergh]

pmsl - we'd nipped to my aunts between visiting and arranged for a chinese to be delivered for ease/speed
anyway the girls tucked in to their tea and we were having a nice meal (me, aunt, my dad, boy cousin aged 22, girl cousin 30 and her new hubby & the girls)

needless to say they all sat with their jaws hanging open watching dd2 and her choice of desert, my cousin asked her was she enjoying it and got a resounding 'yes, nice' from dd2

straight to Swiss finishing school me thinks lol

ataraxis · 30/06/2008 22:03

dizzy - food - YUK!
Good luck tomorrow. Hugs to you and your mum, must be v difficult.

sazzles, when is your next MW appt? They should be able to tell you positioning? sorry, can't help on the other questions.

petit, you are having a home birth too aren't you? What's the situation with your MW? Last time i was in a different county and they just turned up with everything that was needed... except for the MW with G&A who got lost and arrived 2 hours late - otherwise DS2 would have been born the day before! . this time they are saying they will bring a 'box' round and leave it at the house until such a time as it is needed... all sounds very mysterious...

dizzydixies · 30/06/2008 22:06

ataraxis one of the due in July girls had a delivery of stuff for her home birth today - cannisters of gas & air were mentioned!!

TwilightSurfer · 30/06/2008 22:08

Dizzy, sounds like a variation of Viparita Karani (aka Legs Up the Wall). She's having you use the sofa to rest your legs which gives you almost the same result but without the full amount of stretch and with less of a blood flow issue. Only contradiction would be if the baby is beginning engagement this position could cause the the baby to become unengaged. I'll think about it further. I will say this a very good position for low back pain and restless leg (ankle swelling). It's just not one you should stay in for very long (at this point). OH and Dizzy I'm so glad you're getting into your yoga instruction. {{{hugs for your and your mom}}}}

Sazzles, that's just the docs newest date. Can't say I put much faith into their funny math.
