Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
bealcain · 30/06/2008 11:29

ok, sorry posts have been rather selfish recently.

just got back from drs with DH, he has been referred as an emergency case to the eye specialist this afternoon. please think of me as i have to drive for an hour and half to get there. i am covered on insurance, just hope i make it! it's potentially sight threatening!!!!!!!!!!!

alittlebitshy · 30/06/2008 11:38

Not selfish at all!!!!! We like hearing your news anyhow. Good luck with the drive - you're very brave! Hope it goes well for dh

cyteen · 30/06/2008 11:39

Oh blimey Good luck at the doc's this afternoon, will keep my fingers crossed for you both.

miamla · 30/06/2008 11:57

oh bealcain, isn't there a friend or neighbour who could help with the driving?

miamla · 30/06/2008 12:18

actually bealcain, i've got a cousin in Strood. is that anywhere near you? i can find out if she's free to do a bit of driving this afternoon...

bealcain · 30/06/2008 12:18

miamla, all friends and neighbours now being abused even more with sharing the care of my other 2, so we dont have to drag them all the way and back over dinner time!! honestly i'm fine with the drive, it takes my mind off contractions. at least if i go into labour again i'll be in the right place!!

Buckets · 30/06/2008 12:55

Oof Bealcain, I get BHs sometimes while I'm driving and they're hard enough. Please be prepared to make a fuss at the eye place and abandon car if you start to feel overwhelmed. Let them either get you an ambulance, taxi or maybe some young junior would be co-erced into driving you to your hospital. And again if DH needs to stay longer than you can bear, let the eye hospital sort out getting him home. Just don't feel you have to do everything yourself, I think most people have a secret fantasy about helping a labouring woman in need!

miamla · 30/06/2008 13:01

i agree with you Buckets about driving and BHs so the thought of drivin through the big Cs doesn't bear thinking about

bealcain, honestly, i'm sure my cousin wouldn't if she's free this afternoon...

miamla · 30/06/2008 13:02

and my prediction for birth time is 1.42am on the 1st july

dizzydixies · 30/06/2008 13:12

is £70 too much?!?

oioi

miamla · 30/06/2008 13:17

well it is a nice bag and i love bags but does seem an awful lot of money for one

dizzydixies · 30/06/2008 13:41

lol - there is no way am spending £70 on a bag - its on kiddiecare for £62 but still not sure that brings it in under budget

Buckets · 30/06/2008 13:41

Dizzy Toysrus do Oioi Hobo bags cheaper than that.

Buckets · 30/06/2008 13:45

Ooh stop press John Lewis have an online sale on!

miamla · 30/06/2008 13:45

its still expensive even at £62!

PetitFilou1 · 30/06/2008 14:34

Er I won't tell you how much my baby bag cost then but it will have lasted me through three children by the time I stop using it.

Bealcain Good luck! I knew I'd been off here for so long someone would have either given birth or be giving birth. When you stop feeling calm STOP DRIVING EVERYWHERE. This is why there are taxis and ambulances!

All fine here, having very strong BHs now when I get them. Bored of being pregnant and want him out. I am definitely nesting now as suddenly want all the baby equipment out and organised and feel the urge to buy nappies etc

TwilightSurfer · 30/06/2008 14:36

Dizzy my bag for DD1 was $95EUR so $70's not bad. The one I want now is a bit more. DD1's bag was a gift from PILs and it's still in use after 4.5years so well worth the "investment" althought it looks a little worn now. The new bag will probably be out of my pocket so the $$ is a little harder to part with.

Bealcain you are a 5 star lady.

Miamla I'm impressed you are able to do the skirting boards alone. We've redone all of ours over the past few years. DH is a dream with the installation then I'm the prize painter. BUT having that to do now would be a NIGHTMARE. Just bending down to sit on the porch steps is difficult and then getting up is comical.

ALBS {{{hugs}}} hang in there the finish line is in sight.

A good morning and good afternoon to everyone.

Didn't sleep a wink last night here. I believe baby is dropping. The only position that wasn't too uncomfortable overnight was standing....not very good for sleeping mind you. Anyway now my trapdoor feels "vulnerable" with a good amount of pressure on it and my tailbone is sore again like my hip bones are seperating. Occasionally I'm getting a knock at the door. I imagine the baby's doing the tap your head, rub your stomach game to pass the time. Mood is leveling out as I had plenty of time to "pretend" I was in therapy during the night (20 years under my belt here) so I hashed out my issues in the dark and decided DD1 has only a few short weeks to enjoy her mommy alone so I need to buck up and make the best of it. See I've already put my on.

OP posts:
PetitFilou1 · 30/06/2008 14:38

and dizzy just skimmed and see your mum is not well - sorry to hear that - how are things now?

PetitFilou1 · 30/06/2008 15:03

Cyteen I thought I'd just turned 31 weeks but I think I am only just behind you so am 32 weeks. EDD 25 August so WHEN exactly would I be 34 weeks as need to make a mw appt? Someone help out a poor old lady who is crap at maths?

Sibh · 30/06/2008 15:10

Albs, I've found that flight socks are a big help with the crampy, jumpy leg thing and I've been getting sleep while I'm wearing them. DH finds the sight of them on a heavily pregnant semi-naked woman genuinely frightening though ...

cyteen · 30/06/2008 15:18

pf my EDD is August 24th, so we're pretty much neck and neck. By my reckoning that would make you 34 weeks round about July 15th Do bear in mind though that I'm crap at maths as well

The washing line is now strung with lots of tiny little popper vests and sleepsuits, drying in the sun Anyone would think I'm having a baby or something.

alittlebitshy · 30/06/2008 15:18

woohoo - baby's room is starting to look good!!!! Our lovely friend who did the decorating for us (and doesn't charge nearly enough) came and built the ikea cupboards and chair today (and put up some random pics we haven't got round to putitng up in the 5 years we've lived here ). The cupboards are niiiiiiice. Is a small room, so we went for ones that have same effect as fitted cupbaords- basically up to ceiling, and with drawers inside. hang on will loook for approximate link.... kind of like this. only ours doesn't have the drawers under the 3rd door. In the double one we have 3 full width drawers, a shelf above them, 2 rails (cos we thought kids clothes aren't v long, so more rail space until we need to take one out when baby bigger) and another shelf up top. In the single one we went for 4 baskets - for bedding and stuff, and 4 shelves for toys and books. we have a lot of books in this house, and don't see how we'll easily fit a sep book case into the room so thought if we can stash them in cupboard it'll be good.

alittlebitshy · 30/06/2008 15:19

sibh - ooh i'll look out my ones from when I was having c-section with dd (do you mean that kind??).... Thanks for that

ChaCha · 30/06/2008 15:42

Buckets am glad i saw your post - totally, totally forgotten about the DS's receiving presents from the baby!!! Last year DH and I went out to look for something for DS1 the night before DS2's arrival and we chose some bouncy castle type thing that took ages to put up and took up the whole of our living room. DS1 who was 14months old at the time looked at it, looked away and went to play with the box it came in, needless to say we returned it for a bike thing. Think additions to the existing Thomas paraphernelia will make good pressies this time as both boys love it.

Bag is nice DD, had a look at link. I bought a Baby Bjorn rucksack on ebay last year for going on holiday, has lots of compartments, pockets, plenty of space and can bung into washing machine easily. Cost me the whole of a pound and DH uses it when he takes them out too so suits us fine. Must admit though, a new bag would be really nice....hmmmmm!

DS2 has sickness and diarrhea so at 4.30am this morning i was washing towels and sheets and up again at 6.30 hanging them out and tidying up. I believe my body is in preparation for things to come!

Back later

Buckets · 30/06/2008 16:03

Am shattered and it's only 4pm! Feel like I've been having BHs non-stop all day (don't worry, they're def not the real thing) and it's just so tiring, all that muscle action. God knows what state Bealcain must be in by now! (probably knocking up a roast actually.)

Is there football on tonight or do you think I can get DH's undivided attention for a while before I fall asleep?
